• WIX Merge Module : Trying to use $(var.Project.TargetFileName)

  I have created a simple Wix 3 Merge Module in VS 2005 ( .wxs ) <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?> <Wix xmlns="http://schemas.microsoft.com/wix/2006/wi"> <Module Id="TestMergeModule" Language="1033" Version="1.0.0.0"> <Package Id="ef2a568e-a8db-4213-a211-9261c26031aa" Manufacturer="Me" InstallerVersion="200" /> <Directory Id="TARGETDIR" Name="SourceDir"> <Directory Id="MergeRedirectFolder"> <Component Id="Test_ModuleComponent" Guid="{1081C5BC-106E-4b89-B14F-FFA71B0987E1}"> <File Id="Test" Name="$(var.Project.TargetFileName)" Source="$(var.Project.TargetPath)" DiskId="1" /> </Component> </Directory> </Directory> </Module> </Wix> And I have added the project "Project" as a reference to this Merge Module, however I continue to get this error Error 7 Undefined preprocessor variable '$(var.Project.TargetFileName)'. Any suggestions, I am sure I am just missing the obvious here.

  I am not sure what happened or if I did anything.. • Start position for a reused t- sql cursor?

  I'm working on a stored procedure that uses a cursor on a temporary table (I have read a bit about why cursors are undesirable, but in this situation I believe I still need to use one). In my procedure I need to step through the rows of the table twice. Having declared the cursor, already stepped through the temporary table once and closed the cursor, would the position of the cursor remain at the end of the table when re-opened or does it reposition itself to the initial starting position (ie: before the first row)? Alternatively, to reposition the cursor must I do a 'FETCH FIRST' before stepping through again? Am I right to assume the 'cost' of doing this repositioning and reusing the cursor would be less than deallocating and reallocating the cursor?

• aapt not found when building new Android app in NetBeans

  I just installed NetBeans and the Android SDK following the instructions here. I am running Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic). NetBeans is 6.7.1. The Android SDK is version 7. • Maintaining ISAPI Rewrite Path with the ASP.NET tilde (~)

  My team is upgrading from ASP.NET 3.5 to ASP.NET 4.0. We are currently using Helicon ISAPI Rewrite to map http://localhost/<account-name>/default.aspx to http://localhost/<virtual-directory>/default.aspx?AccountName=<account-name> where <account-name> is a query string variable and <virtual-directory> is a virtual directory (naturally). Before the upgrade the tilde (~) resolved to http://localhost/<account-name>/... (which I want it to do) and after the upgrade the tilde resolves to http://localhost/<virtual-directory>/... which results in an error because the <account-name> query string is required. I'd like to avoid going down the road of replacing everything with relative paths because there are several features in our system that use the entire URL instead of just the relative path. For what it's worth I'm using IIS7 in Windows 7, Visual Studio 2010 with ASP.NET 4.0 and the 64 bit Helicon ISAPI Rewrite. If I switch back to the ASP.NET 3.5 version then it still works fine (leading me to believe nothing changed in IIS unless it's within the 4.0 app pool - when I switch back and forth between 3.5 and 4.0 I have to change the app pool in IIS).   I need to read the location of the Temporary ASP.NET Files folder from VBScript as part of a post-installation task in an installer created using a Visual Studio 2008 deployment project. I thought I would do something like this: Set oShell = CreateObject("Wscript.Shell") strPath = oShell.RegRead("HKLM\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\ASP.NET\2.0.50727.0\Path") and then concatenate strPath with "\Temporary ASP.NET Files" and be done with it. On an x64 system, however, I am getting the value from the WOW6432Node (HKLM\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\ASP.NET\2.0.50727.0), which gives me the 32-bit framework path (C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727), but on an x64 system, I actually want the 64-bit path, i.e. C:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework64\v2.0.50727. I understand that this happens because the .vbs file is run using the 32-bit script host due to the parent process (the installer) being 32-bit itself. How can I run the script using the 64-bit script host - or - how can I read the 64-bit values even if the script is run using the 32-bit script host?

  I have an issue with Lucene.net. It throws a lock exception. After poking around i notice these things. My code below works in an app bit when calling in Application_Start i get a NoSuchDirectoryException. Not closing the writer (as my code doesnt do below) i WILL get a LockObtainFailedException with the message Lock obtain timed out: SimpleFSLock@<FULL_PATH> from either app or asp.net These thread hinted when spawning threads they get less permissions then i do (but! my main thread has problems as well...) and one solution is to impersonate IIS. I am using visual studios 2010. I am not sure how full blown it is but my attempt to impersonate it failed. • Writing files in App_Data causes tempdata to be null

  I have a small asp.net MVC 1 web app that can store files and create directories in the App_Data directory. When the write operation succeeds, I add a message to the tempdata and do a redirectToRoute. The problem is that the tempdata is null when the action is executed. If i write the files in a directory outside of the web applications root directory, the tempdata is not null and everything works correctly. Any ideas why writing in the app_data seems to clear the tempdata ? edit: if DRS.Logic.Repository.Manager.CreateFile(path, hpf, comment) writes in the App_Data, TempData will be null in the action being redirected to. if it is a directory out of the web app root it is fine. No exceptions are being thrown. • jQuery's getScript and the local file system-- limitations/alternatives?

  Right now I'm working on a help-system which is based on a local file system. It is intended to be shipped with a product which is not used on internet-enabled machines, so it must be a stand alone webpage, without any dependencies on a web server. This introduces a few challenges. Namely, the directory structure that the files exist in require navigating "up and over" to access some .js files which are required to display the help system. This use to be implemented using the jQuery getScript function, but I have ran into some problems using this on the local file system. At first glance, it seemed that if my webpage was being served out of the C:/dev/webpage/html/ directory, and the files I needed were in C:/dev/webpage/js/(topic)/file.js, I could just build an absolute path (file:///...) and pass that into the getScript function. However, after testing this, it does not seem that the getScript function will let me go up a level from the html directory (where the html file is located which has the main code for the webpage). Unfortunately, I can not change the directory structure, nor can I change the .js file structure/format. Is there an alternative for loading/executing javascript files that are in a file structure where I need to go "up and over"? Thanks,

There certainly has to be another way to do this with a single query. I'm currently out of ideas though. Could I somehow force MySQL into using another (better) query plan?

  Scripts, registries, screen-savers, oh my! I'm trying to use a screen-saver on a Windows XP 64 bit machine which uses a .NET app which makes an interop call which relies on some x86 Shockwave Dlls (some Shockwave animation). Everything should be in the %systemroot%\WINNT\SysWOW64 directory. When the timeout for the screensaver occurs, the process should looks like this: Screensaver.scr - .NET app - shockwave animation. During installation I want a vbscript to my screen-saver file to copy the Screensaver.scr to the SysWow64 directory and then set the proper registry key to this file for Windows to launch the screen-saver. (It actually seems to be in both the system32 and the sysWOW64 directories---whether that's the install script or something I did post-install I'm in the process of verifying.) However, the registry entry is not correct. In both the 32 and 64 bit regedit I see the HKCU\ControlPanel\Desktop\SCRNSAVE.EX is set to: C:\WINNT\system32\Screensaver.scr This isn't right. The screen-saver won't run from this directory. It only runs from SysWOW64. If I manually edit the registry with regedit to the correct SysWOW64 path everything works fine. Is this a problem with using the script or is this a Windows registry redirection, or filesystem redirection problem? You'd think this would be simple...

• classpath and class loading on weblogic

  Hello, I am trying to create and load dynamically classes in weblogic (10.3.2.0). It is ADF application which I deploy to the weblogic server. When I print ((GenericClassLoader)this.getClass().getClassLoader()).getFinderClassPath() I see the path to my directory (of course not just this path) C:\...\system11.1.1.2.36.55.36\DefaultDomain\servers\DefaultServer\tmp\_WL_user\test\753the\dynamicClasses (I have added directory dynamicClasses to manifest for deployment WAR profile). In this directory I create class files. I have checked it, files are really created there. When I try to load created class with the same classloader, for which I have printed classpath, ClassNotFoundException is thrown. It knows the path to the directory with classes and to jar file, but it doesn't load classes. With URLClassLoader I can load classes. But I need so that my classes would be seen by the classes loaded "usual" way. I am able to run it correctly just with system CLASSPATH. Please, do you know an explanation? Is the manifest file in WAR the wrong place for specifiing classpath? Thank you in advance Qjeta

So I made duplicate .ascx and .aspx files for existing ascx.cs and aspx.cs Most of the time everything works fine.. but suddenly I'm getting: Type 'ctrl_car' exists both in 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\rzhdengine\d072cc72\b9d5698b\App_Web_xdmblegv.dll', and in 'c:\Windows\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Temporary ASP.NET Files\rzhdengine\d072cc72\b9d5698b\App_Web_gkptrzo2.dll' (translated from russian) ctrl_car ctrl = (ctrl_car) LoadControl("car.ascx"); I have few such strings of code... and same error occurs with one of them. But WITHOUT any changes from me with those files. Sometimes it works on another VS... sometimes regetting project helps... but it is always waste of time (

• Getting SSL to work with Apache/Passenger on OSX

  I use apache/passenger on my development machine, but need to add SSL support (something which isn't exposed through the control panel). I've done this before in production, but for some reason I can't seem to get it work on OSX. The steps I've followed so far are from a default apache osx install: Install passenger and passenger preference pane. Add my rails app (this works) Create my ca.key, server.crt and server.key as detailed on the apple website. At this point I need to start editing the apache configs, so I added: # Apache knows to listen on port 443 for ssl requests. • Authentication Error 401.2

  I have an application buit partially in classic asp and in c#. The authentication used as per the config file is windows. This is perfectly working. Now I have to authenticate the users against active directory. (ie. if any AD users requesting my application, it should authenticate the user (on login page load) and redirect to the application home page instead of showing login page) The login page is an asp page and I created an aspx page where the login.asp page will be redirected during page load to autheticate with Active Directory. I hav e disabled anonymous access in IIS and currently used only Integrated Windows Authentication. Also given permission to "Authenticated Users" in Permissions. While trying to access the login.asp page I am getting the following error. You do not have permission to view this directory or page using the credentials that you supplied because your Web browser is sending a WWW-Authenticate header field that the Web server is not configured to accept. Please try the following: Contact the Web site administrator if you believe you should be able to view this directory or page. Click the Refresh button to try again with different credentials. HTTP Error 401.2 - Unauthorized: Access is denied due to server configuration. Internet Information Services (IIS) Kindly help me to fix this issue. Thanks, Priya

• Which HTTP redirect status code is best for this REST API scenario?

  I'm working on a REST API. The key objects ("nouns") are "items", and each item has a unique ID. E.g. to get info on the item with ID foo: GET http://api.example.com/v1/item/foo New items can be created, but the client doesn't get to pick the ID. Instead, the client sends some info that represents that item. So to create a new item: POST http://api.example.com/v1/item/ hello=world&hokey=pokey With that command, the server checks if we already have an item for the info hello=world&hokey=pokey. So there are two cases here. Case 1: the item doesn't exist; it's created. This case is easy. 201 Created Location: http://api.example.com/v1/item/bar Case 2: the item already exists. Here's where I'm struggling... not sure what's the best redirect code to use. 301 Moved Permanently? 302 Found? 303 See Other? 307 Temporary Redirect? Location: http://api.example.com/v1/item/foo I've studied the Wikipedia descriptions and RFC 2616, and none of these seem to be perfect. Here are the specific characteristics I'm looking for in this case: The redirect is permanent, as the ID will never change. So for efficiency, the client can and should make all future requests to the ID endpoint directly. This suggests 301, as the other three are meant to be temporary. The redirect should use GET, even though this request is POST. This suggests 303, as all others are technically supposed to re-use the POST method. In practice, browsers will use GET for 301 and 302, but this is a REST API, not a website meant to be used by regular users in browsers. It should be broadly usable and easy to play with. Specifically, 303 is HTTP/1.1 whereas 301 and 302 are HTTP/1.0. I'm not sure how much of an issue this is. At this point, I'm leaning towards 303 just to be semantically correct (use GET, don't re-POST) and just suck it up on the "temporary" part. But I'm not sure if 302 would be better since in practice it's been the same behavior as 303, but without requiring HTTP/1.1. But if I go down that line, I wonder if 301 is even better for the same reason plus the "permanent" part. Thoughts appreciated!

  So I've been working with RLIKE to pull some data in a new application and mostly enjoying it. To date I've been using RLIKE queries to return 3 types of results (files, directories and everything). A good example of such a string would be: user/test/public/a-test/.delete That data (there are more rows then just obj_namespace) is considered deleted and in the Files and All type queries I'd like it to be omitted within the expression if possible. Same goes for the /.comments and all such meta data will always be in the same format: /.[sometext] I'd hoped to use this feature extensively throughout my application, so I'm hoping there might be a very simple answer. • Yet another Python Windows CMD mklink problem ... can't get it to work!

  OK I have just posted another question which outlined my program but the specific problem was different. Now, my program just stops working without any message whatsoever. I'd be grateful if someone could help me here. If I run this now over some folder, the whole thing just stops after 10 or so symbolic links. It created 9 symlinks for some files in the # tag & reencode and the first three files in the ChillOutMix folder. The cmd.exe Window is still open and empty, and shows in its title bar that it is currently processing the mklink command for the third file in ChillOutMix. I tried to insert a time.sleep(2) after each cmdprocess.stdin.write in case Python is just too fast for the cmd process, but it doesn't help. Does anyone know what the problem might be?
