    Using VisualStudio 2008, have emacs keyboard mapping scheme enabled. If I select text and try to paste over it, it INSERTS the new text, rather than replacing it. Also, if I select text and hit DELETE it deletes the first character AFTER the selected text (just as if I didn't have any text selected). Does anyone know how to fix this so that I get the standard windows behavior. That is: If I select text and try to paste over it, it replaces the selected text with what I pasted in. If I select text and hit the DELETE key, it actually deletes the text I have selected Thanks! Abby

    I have several text fields in a custom uiviewcontroller subclass, which is displayed within a popover. The popover is displayed form a bar button. I want the keyboard to go down when the popover is dismissed (either by the user tapping the bar button again, or tapping outside the popover. From the view controller that displays the popover, when the popover is dismissed, in either of the 2 fashions, I call [optionsController dismissFirstResponder]; Optionscontroller is the uiviewcontroller subclass in the popover. Dismissfirstresponder is a method I defined: -(void)dsimissFirstResponder { [nameField resignFirstResponder]; [descriptionField resignFirstResponder]; [helpField resignFirstResponder]; } Those are three IBoutlets which I connected in the xib to the text fields. That doesn't work. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated.

    Does anyone know if it is possible with javascript to to tell the position of a mouse click in some text? I know it's easy to get the x,y coordinates, but I'm wanting the position in the text. For example if I clicked inside <p>foo bar</p> I want to be able to tell that the click was on/after the 5th character. Or that foo b is before the click and ar is after it. By the way, I'm using jQuery too, I'm happy with pure JS and solutions that use jQ. Thanks in advance.

I have tried a half dozen quoted-printable parsers, but none handle this correctly. Honestly, for now, I'm coding: //TODO WTF encoded = encoded.Replace("=C2=A0", ""); Because I can't figure out why that text is there randomly within the MIME content, and isn't supposed to be rendered into anything. By just removing it, I'm getting the desired effect - but WHY?!

  • How to achieve the recessed text style as in Apple's Messages for Mac?

    I'd like to replicate the recessed text style of Messages/iMessage, or, the text "white-shadow" style on a light gray background. Please refer to an image here for the style I desire. As you can see, the texts are with "white-shadow" even on the light gray background. The bold texts do have subpixel rendering while the gray texts don't (by design?). I've tried setBackgroundStyle:NSBackgroundStyleRaised . However it was generating shadows darker than the background. setBackgroundStyle:NSBackgroundStyleLowered was worse that it even overrode my font colour setting. So, what is the right way to do this? Any tricks or just have to subclass NSTextFields ? Thanks.

    Within a webpage, upon loading, I fill a dataset with two table with a relation between those tables and then load the data into a repeater with a nested repeater. This can also occur after the user clicks on a button. The data gets loaded from a SQL database and the repeater datasource is set to the dataset after a postback. However, when ItemDataBound occurs the Item.Dataitem is always null.     As we all know, Outlook 2007 uses the Word 2007 rendering engine, causing endless grief when designing HTML email message. [Insert rant here] In particular, float, margin, and padding are - shall we say? - poorly supported. To simulate float so that text wraps around an image, apparently we can simply use: <img src="foo.png" align="right"> The issue is padding/margin. Without padding/margin, the wrapped text butts up against the image which looks goofy. One workaround is to edit the image and add transparent framing that simulates margin. Does anyone know any other workarounds?

It enables a user to highlight a passage from a text then have that passage saved and bolded into the view for later reading by anyone else. I have no problem creating an if statement on whether a certain string of text is in a passage but how do I add a class to that string and have a group of these passages absorbed back into the view.     I'm transferring fragments of HTML via Ajax. Safari (4.0.5) reports: "Resource interpreted as other but transferred with MIME type text/html." The file name of the file I get has a .html extension. The server does set the header for this: Content-Type:text/html As I said, the content is a fragment of HTML, which is injected into the page (with jQuery). The contents of the file look like: <html> ... some valid html ... </html> What else might Safari need to see to make it interpret the received content as HTML? TIA.

    Having an input <input type="text" id="myTest" value="bla bla bla"/> and doing this (using jQuery) $('#myTest').select(); causes "bla bla bla" to be selected with default dark blue selection color. Now, is there any way I can change this color using css? css3 can change selection using for instance ::-moz-selection { background: #ffb7b7; } but this only works on text in other elements, not in html inputs. Any ideas? /T

    I have a simple text box in a WPF application. I need to know when a character was added/deleted in the text box, which character and where it was added or deleted. I thought to use the TextBox.KeyDown event, but it has some problems: I can't know where the character was added or deleted. I have no idea how to determite which character was added (from the KeyEventArgs). Any ideas? I don't care to use a completely different solution from what I thought. In addition, I've just started this project so I don't care to use Windows Forms instead of WPF if your solution requires it. Thank you.

The text is entered, but it also acts on the keypress. Expected, but not good. I'm aware of various things like document.getElementById, but I can't figure out how to put these together to ensure that while the cursor is in the text input box, it doesn't act out the keypress catcher.
