  • What is the DNS root zone and domain?

    - by Nimmy Lebby
    This might seem like a silly question but I want to get my terminology correct. Please do not delete. I will be more than happy to delete the question myself once I (with the help of a few people I hope) get to a consensus: This was my understanding: DNS root zone = . DNS root domain = (nameless) However, after reading the Wikipedia article, I'm not so sure: A domain name consists of one or more parts, technically called labels, that are conventionally concatenated, and delimited by dots, such as example.com. So this would lead me to believe: DNS root zone = . DNS root domain = . DNS root label = (nameless) Does this make sense? What is your understanding?

  • Aliasing a route causes rails to expect paths that don't exist

    ok here's some code: prompt>rails my_app prompt>cd my_app prompt>script/generate scaffold service_type title:string time_allotment:integer prompt>rake db:migrate then edit these files to look like this: #routes.rb: ActionController::Routing::Routes.draw do |map| map.resources :services, :controller => :service_types map.connect ':controller/:action/:id' map.connect ':controller/:action/:id.:format' end which produces these routes: prompt>rake routes services GET /services(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"index"} POST /services(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"create"} new_service GET /services/new(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"new"} edit_service GET /services/:id/edit(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"edit"} service GET /services/:id(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"show"} PUT /services/:id(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"update"} DELETE /services/:id(.:format) {:controller=>"service_types", :action=>"destroy"} /:controller/:action/:id /:controller/:action/:id(.:format) _ #my_app/app/views/service_types/index.html.erb <h1>Listing service_types</h1> <table> <tr> <th>Title</th> <th>Time allotment</th> </tr> <% @service_types.each do |service_type| %> <tr> <td><%=h service_type.title %></td> <td><%=h service_type.time_allotment %></td> <td><%= link_to 'Show', service_type %></td> <td><%= link_to 'Edit', edit_service_path(service_type) %></td> <td><%= link_to 'Destroy', service_type, :confirm => 'Are you sure?', :method => :delete %></td> </tr> <% end %> </table> <br /> <%= link_to 'New service_type', new_service_path %> - #my_app/app/views/service_types/new.html.erb <h1>New service_type</h1> <% form_for(@service_type) do |f| %> <%= f.error_messages %> <p> <%= f.label :title %><br /> <%= f.text_field :title %> </p> <p> <%= f.label :time_allotment %><br /> <%= f.text_field :time_allotment %> </p> <p> <%= f.submit 'Create' %> </p> <% end %> <%= link_to 'Back', services_path %> when you try to access http://localhost:3000/services/new you get the following error: undefined method `service_types_path' for #<ActionView::Base:0xb7199a80> Extracted source (around line #3): 1: <h1>New service_type</h1> 2: 3: <% form_for(@service_type) do |f| %> 4: <%= f.error_messages %> 5: 6: <p> Application Trace: /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_controller/polymorphic_routes.rb:107:in `__send__' /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_controller/polymorphic_routes.rb:107:in `polymorphic_url' /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_controller/polymorphic_routes.rb:114:in `polymorphic_path' /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_view/helpers/form_helper.rb:298:in `apply_form_for_options!' /usr/lib/ruby/gems/1.8/gems/actionpack-2.3.5/lib/action_view/helpers/form_helper.rb:277:in `form_for' /home/aaron/NetBeansProjects/my_app/app/views/service_types/new.html.erb:3:in `_run_erb_app47views47service_types47new46html46erb' /home/aaron/NetBeansProjects/my_app/app/controllers/service_types_controller.rb:29:in `new' Anyone have any idea why it believes that service_types_path is in my code when it's not?

  • basic picture editing software for Mac OS X

    - by George2
    I am using a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.5. I am new to this development environment, and previously worked on Windows. I want to do very basic image editing, like cut a portion of an image, add some text label to the image, circle some part of the image, etc. I am downloading acornfree from this Url, but when executing acornfree, it said the Mac OS I am using is not supported. Any ideas how to fix this issue or any other free image editing software to recommend (and could be used for my specific Mac OS platform)? http://flyingmeat.com/acorn/acornfree.html Thanks in advance

  • Stopping local drive mappings from transfering to a RDP session

    - by Chad
    We have a SQL server that locally has about 6 physical drives mapped. However let's say G: is a mount point to the SAN, if I connect with my local machine and have a personal folder mapped locally as g:\userdata that transfers to the remote desktop session on the server overwriting the value of the 'NAME' of the share. Here is the kicker, the G: on the server still has the right information but has the wrong label coming from the share on my PC. Does anyone know how to prevent this from happening? My tick box for local resources is unchecked in my Microsoft RDP client.

  • VS2008 Windows Form Designer does not like my control.

    - by Thedric Walker
    I have a control that is created like so: public partial class MYControl : MyControlBase { public string InnerText { get { return textBox1.Text; } set { textBox1.Text = value; } } public MYControl() { InitializeComponent(); } } partial class MYControl { /// <summary> /// Required designer variable. /// </summary> private System.ComponentModel.IContainer components = null; /// <summary> /// Clean up any resources being used. /// </summary> /// <param name="disposing">true if managed resources should be disposed; otherwise, false.</param> protected override void Dispose(bool disposing) { if (disposing && (components != null)) { components.Dispose(); } base.Dispose(disposing); } #region Component Designer generated code /// <summary> /// Required method for Designer support - do not modify /// the contents of this method with the code editor. /// </summary> private void InitializeComponent() { this.textBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.TextBox(); this.listBox1 = new System.Windows.Forms.ListBox(); this.label1 = new System.Windows.Forms.Label(); this.SuspendLayout(); // // textBox1 // this.textBox1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(28, 61); this.textBox1.Name = "textBox1"; this.textBox1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(100, 20); this.textBox1.TabIndex = 0; // // listBox1 // this.listBox1.FormattingEnabled = true; this.listBox1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(7, 106); this.listBox1.Name = "listBox1"; this.listBox1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(120, 95); this.listBox1.TabIndex = 1; // // label1 // this.label1.AutoSize = true; this.label1.Location = new System.Drawing.Point(91, 42); this.label1.Name = "label1"; this.label1.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(35, 13); this.label1.TabIndex = 2; this.label1.Text = "label1"; // // MYControl // this.AutoScaleDimensions = new System.Drawing.SizeF(6F, 13F); this.AutoScaleMode = System.Windows.Forms.AutoScaleMode.Font; this.Controls.Add(this.label1); this.Controls.Add(this.listBox1); this.Controls.Add(this.textBox1); this.Name = "MYControl"; this.Size = new System.Drawing.Size(135, 214); this.ResumeLayout(false); this.PerformLayout(); } #endregion private System.Windows.Forms.Label label1; } MyControlBase contains the definition for the ListBox and TextBox. Now when I try to view this control in the Form Designer it gives me these errors: The variable 'listBox1' is either undeclared or was never assigned. The variable 'textBox1' is either undeclared or was never assigned. This is obviously wrong as they are defined in MyControlBase with public access. Is there any way to massage Form Designer into allowing me to visually edit my control?

  • Python and Gstreamer

    - by Seif Sallam
    hi, I'm creating a streaming application, using GStreamer with TCP pipeline, and i implemented start, pause, and stop. but the problem is, that i can't seek, i tried to change the playback value from the server side, then i tried on the client side, and Finally tried to change the value on both at the same time, but in all cases it doesn't work. and I even tried to pause the playback then continue but nothing happens. I'm having this problem with the seek and the volume. Any help please, I searched everywhere but i couldn't find anything that worked. this is the code that i use for seeking self.pipeline.seek_simple(gst.FORMAT_TIME, gst.SEEK_FLAG_FLUSH, time)

  • Experimenting with data to determine value - migration/methods?

    - by TCK
    Hey guys, I have a LOT of data available to me, and want to experiment with data that isn't currently being used in production. The obvious solution seems to be to make a copy of production data and integrate it with what I want to play around with, but I was wondering if there was a better (less expensive?) way to do this. Both isolation and integration are important. I'd like to be able to keep lightweight/experimental data assets apart from high volume production data, but also be able to integrate (RELATIVELY) painlessly if experimental assets are deemed useful. Thanks.

  • Android Activity ClassNotFoundException - tried everything

    - by Matthew Rathbone
    I've just refactored an app into a framework library and an application, but now when I try and start the app in the emulator I get the following error stack trace: 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): FATAL EXCEPTION: main 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): java.lang.RuntimeException: Unable to instantiate activity ComponentInfo{com.matthewrathbone.eastersays/com.matthewrathbone.eastersays.EasterSimonSaysActivity}: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.matthewrathbone.eastersays.EasterSimonSaysActivity in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader[/data/app/com.matthewrathbone.eastersays-1.apk] 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2585) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.ActivityThread.handleLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2679) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.ActivityThread.access$2300(ActivityThread.java:125) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.ActivityThread$H.handleMessage(ActivityThread.java:2033) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4627) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:868) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:626) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: com.matthewrathbone.eastersays.EasterSimonSaysActivity in loader dalvik.system.PathClassLoader[/data/app/com.matthewrathbone.eastersays-1.apk] 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at dalvik.system.PathClassLoader.findClass(PathClassLoader.java:243) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:573) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at java.lang.ClassLoader.loadClass(ClassLoader.java:532) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.Instrumentation.newActivity(Instrumentation.java:1021) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): at android.app.ActivityThread.performLaunchActivity(ActivityThread.java:2577) 06-02 18:22:35.529: E/AndroidRuntime(586): ... 11 more Usually this means that the manifest file is wrong in some way, but I've double checked everything I can think of. I've scanned many similar questions on SO without seeing this particular behavior. More info: I've checked inside the generated APK and the class has an entry in the classes.dex file I've tried cleaning/building the project in eclipse I've tried using a totally new device image that doesn't have a copy of the APK on it already I've changed the library project into a regular java, then changed back into an android project, no difference

  • Trying to determine best design for this workflow - c# - 3.0

    - by ltech
    Input Server - files of type jpg,tif, raw,png, mov come in via FTP Each file needs to be watermarked, if applicable, and meta data added to the file Then each file needs to be moved to an orders directory where an order file is generated and then packaged as zip file and moved to processing server. The file names are of [orderid_userid_guid].[jpg|tif|mov|png...] As I expect the volume to grow I dont want to work on one file at a time and move it through the work flow. I would prefer multi threaded/asynchronous if possible..

  • How to catch Keyboard and mouse events?

    - by Alexey Malistov
    I want to create an application. This application has to do something when a user presses special keys on keyboard or/and uses scroll wheel. This application is a service. It has no windows. I want to catch any keyboard or mouse events which were designed with other applications. For example, you are watching TV by 3rd party application. If you press Ctrl + Shift and use scroll wheel my application changes the volume. I use Windows 7 x64 and Visual Studio 2008.

  • KVM Virtual guest Paused on Reboot

    - by David Hamilton
    I'm running REHL 6 and just installed a Ubuntu Server Guest via KVM set to start at boot. This works correctly and the guest loads, but it loads "paused" and requires that I manually un-pause it. • Does the advanced format tool bundled by manufacturers actually do anything which mkntfs doesn't?

    - by neurolysis
    I recently bought a new drive (specifically, a 2TB Samsung Spinpoint) that says on the label that it supports advanced format, and that I should download the tool from their site. Unless I'm missing something, mkntfs has always had its maximum sector size at 4096b: -s, --sector-size BYTES Specify the size of sectors in bytes. Valid sector size values are 256, 512, 1024, 2048 and 4096 bytes per sector. If omitted, mkntfs attempts to determine the sector-size automatically and if that fails a default of 512 bytes per sector is used. Will this tool on Samsung's site do anything other than format the drive in the same way doing mkntfs -s 4K /dev/sdb1 would do? To be specific, I'm intending to use this drive on a machine that will primarily run Windows XP, but I'd rather boot into Linux/BSD and format the disk manually than have bloated software. I do want to have the new AF style sectors though -- that's essential. So if I did the command above, would it have exactly the same effect as using the advanced format tool?

  • Disk names in Solaris 10 for ZFS: SAS WWN instead of c0t0d0

    - by notpeter
    I currently have a server running Solaris 10u9 with a SAS enclosure (Dell PowerVault MD1000) filled with SATA disks attached to an SAS card (LSI 3801E). It happily recognizes the 15 disks in the MD1000 and presents them each disk in the traditional solaris form (c1t12d0, c1t13d0, c1t15d0, etc). My home ZFS setup (Nexenta CP3 + LSI 9200-16E + directly cabled SATA disks) presents disks as their SAS WWN ID (ex: c3t600039300001EA56d0). Although this ID is longer, I've found it much easier to troubleshoot because the cabling/slot is irrelevant, ZFS just identifies the disk by ID, if it's connected it finds it. Most manufacturers print the WWN right on the disk's top label, can't get much easier than that. So how can I get Solaris to identify disks by SAS WWN instead of by the cXtXdX?

  • How to select all labeled messages in Gmail inbox?

    - by Tony
    I have dozens of labels and sub-labels and dozens of filters. I use the 'skip inbox' on a lot of filters but have many more that I want to see in the inbox before I archive them. It's easy to shift-select a few dozen at a time to archive when they are NOT separated by non-labeled mail. What I want to do is to be able to select all mail that has any label in the inbox and archive it with one click so that nothing but unlabeled mail is left in the inbox. This doesn't seem to be any different than what the Select Starred search except I can't find a wildcard search operator for labels.

  • Does HashMap provide a one to one correspondence?

    - by Roman
    I found the following statement: Map is an object that stores key/volume pairs. Given a key, you can find its value. Keys must be unique, but values may be duplicated. For example I have just one key/value pair (3,4). And now I put a new pair (3,5). It will remove the old pair. Right? But if I put (2,4) instead of (3,4) I will add a new pair of key/value to the HashMap. Right?

  • Using GLOrtho to view Side, Front, Top perspectives of a 3D scene

    - by talldan
    Dear all, I'm building a game level editing app as part of a university project. In my application I have multiple viewports, a Perspective viewport and three orthographic views all setup to view the same scene. I've successfuly setup the orthographic views and can translate and scale them to mimic scrolling and zooming. Unfortunately, I'm having one problem - my scene still contains 3 dimensions, so objects viewed in orthographic mode of certain depths are clipped when they fall outside of my clipping volume. Most 3D authoring tools or level editors allow you to view all objects in orthographic mode regardless of depth. I guess what I need to do is scale my scene in the appropriate dimension so that all values lie between 1 and -1, is there a straightforward way of going about this? Or is there a different better approach. Thanks very much for your help, Dan

  • Preload *.wav with SystemSoundID?

    - by fuzzygoat
    I am playing a wav file to give a little audio feedback when a button in my UI is pressed. My question is when you first press the button there is a delay (about 1.5secs) whilst the sound file "sound.wav" is loaded and cached. Is there a way to pre-cache this file (maybe in my viewDidLoad)? I guess I could do it by just playing it a viewDidLoad, but would really need to disable the audio so it does not "beeb" each time the app starts. many thanks for and help. gary EDIT: Looks like my question is a duplicate of this post unless anyone has any new info? Maybe a way to turn the play volume down temporarily, unless the audio is cleared each time through the run loop.

  • Insert HTML into a page with AJAX

    - by Silvio Iannone
    Hi there, i'm currently developing a website and i need that the pages loads dinamicallly based on what actions the user does. Example: if the user clicks on the button 'Settings' an ajax funcion will load from an external page the code and will put into the div with tag 'settings'. This is the code i use to make the Ajax request: function get_page_content(page, target_id) { xmlhttp = new XMLHttpRequest(); xmlhttp.onreadystatechange = function() { if(xmlhttp.readyState == 4 && xmlhttp.status == 200) { document.getElementById(target_id).innerHTML = xmlhttp.responseText; // After getting the response we have to re-apply ui effects or they // won't be available on new elements coming from request. $('button').sb_animateButton(); $('input').sb_animateInput(); } } xmlhttp.open('GET', 'engine/ajax/get_page_content.php?page=' + page, true); xmlhttp.send(); } And this is where the ajax results will be put by first snippet: <div id="settings_appearance"> </div> The code is called from a function here: <div class="left_menu_item" id="left_menu_settings_appearance" onclick="show_settings_appearance()"> Appearance </div> And this is the html that the ajax function will put into the settings_appearance div: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $('#upload_hidden_frame').hide(); show_mybrain(); document.getElementById('avatar_upload_form').onsubmit = function() { document.getElementById('avatar_upload_form').target = 'upload_hidden_frame'; upload_avatar(); } }); </script> <div class="title">Appearance</div> <iframe id="upload_hidden_frame" name="upload_hidden_frame" src="" class="error_message"></iframe> <table class="sub_container" id="avatar_upload_form" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data" action="engine/ajax/upload_avatar.php"> <tr> <td><label for="file">Avatar</label></td> <td><input type="file" name="file" id="file" class="file_upload" /></td> <td><button type="submit" name="button_upload">Upload</button></td> </tr> <tr> <td><div class="hint">The image must be in PNG, JPEG or GIF format.</div></td> </tr> </table> I would like to know if there's a way to execute also the javascript code that's returned by the ajax function and if it's possible to apply some customized ui effects i build that are loaded with the main page. Thanks for helping. P.S. This is the script that applies the ui effects: <script type="text/javascript"> // UI effects $(document).ready(function() { $('button').sb_animateButton(); $('input').sb_animateInput(); $('.top_menu_item').sb_animateMenuItem(); $('.top_menu_item_right').sb_animateMenuItem(); $('.left_menu_item').sb_animateMenuItem(); }); </script>

  • Setting value for autocomplete search field linked to Google Places API

    - by user1653350
    I have a web page where people will be able to enter multiple destinations. When they state they want to enter a new destination, the current field values are stored in arrays. If they choose to go back to a previous destination, the relevant values are reinserted into the form fields. I am using the search field linked to autocomplete as the visible display of the destination. When I attempt to put a value into the linked search field, the value is presented as if it is a placeholder instead of a value. Enter the field and the value is removed by the onFocus() event of the Google Places autocomplete add-in. How can I reinsert the value and have it recognised as a value instead of placeholder. field definition in the form <label for="GoogleDestSrch" class="inputText">Destination: <span id="DestinationDisplay2">1</span> <span class="required"><font size="5"> * </font></span></label> <input id="GoogleDestSrch" type="text" size="50" placeholder="Please enter your destination" /> initialise code for Google Places API listener var input = document.getElementById('GoogleDestSrch'); var autocomplete = new google.maps.places.Autocomplete(input); google.maps.event.addListener(autocomplete, 'place_changed', function() { fillInAddress(); }); attempting to reinsert value into search field when prior destination reloaded form.GoogleDestSrch.value = GoogleDestSrch[index]; Issue With Google Places <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript"> function GotoDestination(index) { var domove = true; if (index == 0) { index = lastIndex + 1; } else { if (index == -1) { index = lastIndex - 1; if (index == 0) { index = 1; domove = false; } } } if (domove) { if (index != lastIndex) { var doc = window.document; var pdbutton = doc.getElementById("pdbutton"); var pdbutton1 = doc.getElementById("pdbutton1"); if ((index > lastIndex)) { // move to next destination saveDataF(lastIndex); loadDataF(index); lastIndex = index; } else if (index <= lastIndex) { // move to previous destination saveDataF(lastIndex); loadDataF(index); lastIndex = index; } } } } var input; var autocomplete; // fill in the Google metadata when a destination is selected function fillInAddress() { var strFullValue = ''; var strFullGeoValue = ''; var place = autocomplete.getPlace(); document.getElementById("GoogleType").value = place.types[0]; } function saveDataF(index) { var fieldValue; var blankSearch = "Please enter"; // placeholder text for Google Places fieldValue = document.getElementById("GoogleDestSrch").value; if (fieldValue.indexOf(blankSearch) > -1) { fieldValue = ""; } GoogleDestSrch[index] = fieldValue; } function loadDataF(index) { if ((GoogleDestSrch[index] + "") == "undefined") { document.getElementById("GoogleDestSrch").value = ""; } else { document.getElementById("GoogleDestSrch").value = GoogleDestSrch[index]; } } // -- Destination: 1 * Type of place // input = document.getElementById('GoogleDestSrch'); autocomplete = new google.maps.places.Autocomplete(input); google.maps.event.addListener(autocomplete, 'place_changed', function () { fillInAddress(); }); //]]

  • Using JavaScript eval to parse JSON

    - by Quandary
    Question: I'm using eval to parse a JSON return value from one of my WebMethods. I prefer not to add jquery-json because the transfer volume is already quite large. So I parse the JSON return value with eval. Now rumors go that this is insecure. Why ? Nobody can modify the JSOn return value unless they hack my server, in which case I would have a much larger problem anyway. And if they do it locally, JavaScript only executes in their browser. So I fail to see where the problem is. Can anybody shed some light on this, using this concrete example? function OnWebMethodSucceeded(JSONstrWebMethodReturnValue) { var result=eval('(' + JSONstrWebMethodReturnValue + ')') ... // Adding result.xy to a table }

  • Techniques for Visualizing Data

    - by Rob Wilkerson
    I'm looking into providing several methods of visualizing a large volume of data. This may include, but will not be limited to, simple graphing. The techniques I'm exploring will involve shapes, text and lines. It will also involve interaction with elements (hiding, focusing, etc.) and animation (shifting, dragging, systematic reorganizing, etc.) of those elements. SVG or Canvas seem like the obvious choices (in conjunction with a JS library--probably jQuery), but the lack of cross-browser availability is a concern. I'd prefer to avoid Flash/Flex, but right now it's the only rock solid, cross-browser technology I've found if support for IE7/8 is a requirement. Does anyone have any other suggestions or any additional information that would make a technology I've listed seem even more appealing? Thanks.

  • Monorail - Form submission using GET instead of POST

    - by Septih
    Hello, I'm writing some additions to a Castle MonoRail based site involving an Add and an Edit form. The add form works fine and uses POST but the edit form uses GET. The only major difference I can see is that the edit method is called with the Id of the object being edited in the query string. When the submit button is pressed on the edit form, the only argument passed is this object Id again. Here is the code for the edit form: <form action="edit.ashx" method="post"> <h3>Coupon Description</h3> <textarea name="comments" width="200">$comments</textarea> <br/><br/> <h3>Coupon Actions</h3> <br/> <div>Give Stories</div> <ul class="checklist" style="overflow:auto;height:144px;width:100%"> #foreach ($story in $stories.Values) <li> <label> #set ($associated = "") #foreach($storyId in $storyIds) #if($story.Id == $storyId) #set($associated = " checked='true'") #end #end <input type="checkbox" name="chk_${story.Id}" id="chk_${story.Id}" value="true" class="checkbox" $associated/> $story.Name </label> </li> #end </ul> <br/><br/> <div>Give Credit Amount</div> <input type="text" name="credit" value="$credit" /> <br/><br/> <h3>Coupon Uses</h3> <input type="checkbox" name="multi" #if($multi) checked="true" #end /> Multi-Use Coupon?<br/><br/> <b>OR</b> <br/> <br/> Number of Uses per Coupon: <input type="text" name="uses" value="$uses" /> <br/> <input type="submit" name="Save" /> </form> The differences between this and the add form is the velocity stuff to do with association and the values of the inputs being from the PropertyBag. The Method dealing with this on the controller starts like this: public void Edit(int id) { Coupon coupon = Coupon.GetRepository(User.Site.Id).FindById(id).Value; if(coupon == null) { RedirectToReferrer(); return; } IFutureQueryOfList<Story> stories = Story.GetRepository(User.Site.Id).OnlyReturnEnabled().FindAll("Name", true); if (Params["Save"] == null) { ... } } It reliably gets called but a breakpoint on the Params["Save"] lets me see that the HttpMethod is "GET" and the only arguments passed (In the Form and the Request) are the object Id and additional HTTP headers. At the end of the day I'm not that familiar with MonoRail and this may be a stupid mistake on my behalf, but I would very much appreciate being made a fool out of if it fixes the problem! :) Thanks

  • [Flex 4 and .Net] Retrieving tables from SQL database

    - by mG
    Hi everyone, As the title says, I want to retrieve tables of data from a SQL database, using Flex 4 and .Net WebService. I'm new to both Flex and DotNet. Please tell me a proper way to do it. This is what I've done so far: Retrieving an array of string: (this works) .Net: [WebMethod] public String[] getTestArray() { String[] arStr = { "AAA", "BBB", "CCC", "DDD" }; return arStr; } Flex 4: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"> <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent; [Bindable] private var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); protected function btn_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { ws.getTestArray(); } protected function ws_resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { ac = event.result as ArrayCollection; Alert.show(ac.toString()); } ]]> </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> <s:WebService id="ws" wsdl="http://localhost:50582/Service1.asmx?WSDL" result="ws_resultHandler(event)"/> </fx:Declarations> <s:Button x="10" y="30" label="Button" id="btn" click="btn_clickHandler(event)"/> </s:Application> Retrieving a DataTable: (this does not work) DotNet: [WebMethod] public DataTable getUsers() { DataTable dt = new DataTable("Users"); SqlConnection conn = new SqlConnection("server = 192.168.1.50; database = MyDatabase; user id = sa; password = 1234; integrated security = false"); SqlDataAdapter da = new SqlDataAdapter("select vFName, vLName, vEmail from Users", conn); da.Fill(dt); return dt; } Flex 4: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <s:Application xmlns:fx="http://ns.adobe.com/mxml/2009" xmlns:s="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/spark" xmlns:mx="library://ns.adobe.com/flex/mx" minWidth="955" minHeight="600"> <fx:Script> <![CDATA[ import mx.collections.ArrayCollection; import mx.controls.Alert; import mx.rpc.events.ResultEvent; [Bindable] private var ac:ArrayCollection = new ArrayCollection(); protected function btn_clickHandler(event:MouseEvent):void { ws.getUsers(); } protected function ws_resultHandler(event:ResultEvent):void { ac = event.result as ArrayCollection; Alert.show(ac.toString()); } ]]> </fx:Script> <fx:Declarations> <s:WebService id="ws" wsdl="http://localhost:50582/Service1.asmx?WSDL" result="ws_resultHandler(event)"/> </fx:Declarations> <s:Button x="10" y="30" label="Button" id="btn" click="btn_clickHandler(event)"/> </s:Application>
