    Hello, I am unable to render Chinese characters in IE 8. I have researched this and I am aware of the meta tag to force compatibility mode. I am also aware of the language pack you can install. Finally I have seen that Microsoft actually forces IE7 compatibility mode on their Chinese website. http://www.microsoft.com/zh/cn/default.aspx I am wondering if anyone has any alternatives solutions to this problem. None them seem that appealing to me. I am using utf8 as my encoding and this problem only occurs in IE8. Thanks

  • Select in a many-to-many relationship in MySQL

    I have two tables in a MySQL database, Locations and Tags, and a third table LocationsTagsAssoc which associates the two tables and treats them as a many-to-many relationship. Table structure is as follows: Locations --------- ID int (Primary Key) Name varchar(128) LocationsTagsAssoc ------------------ ID int (Primary Key) LocationID int (Foreign Key) TagID int (Foreign Key) Tags ---- ID int (Primary Key) Name varchar(128) So each location can be tagged with multiple tagwords, and each tagword can be tagged to multiple locations. What I want to do is select only Locations which are tagged with all of the tag names supplied. For example: I want all locations which are tagged with both "trees" and "swings". Location "Park" should be selected, but location "Forest" should not. Any insight would be appreciated. Thanks!

  • How can CSS stop Google Maps loading?

    I have a page with a Google Maps div: <div id="map_canvas" style="width: 100%; height: 332px;" ></div> If I comment out my CSS, the map loads fine: if I include the CSS, the map controls load, but the map tiles don't load: there's just a grey background. This is the case even if I put the map div just after the <body> tag, not within any styled element at all. No CSS, it loads fine. With CSS, no map. Does anyone know what could be causing this? I don't quite understand what the problem can be if no CSS styles are being applied to any element that contains the map. If more diagnostics are needed, please let me know, and I'll deploy the broken map onto a staging site, so people can look at the source.

    I bought a responsive html5 template to create a website for my band. But I miss a page of tour dates, and would create a unique content, simple and quick to load on any device. I have the idea ready, something like buttons (months) to change on hover and when clicked, shows the dates and cities, all with transitions and fadein / fadeout.   • Slickgrid, confirm before edit

    I am making a slick grid and need the ability to add rows with a code column. For this to be possible the code column needs to be editable for the entire table. I am trying to work out a way that I can confirm the edit with a standard javascript confirm popup box. I tried putting one into the onedit event within the slickgrid constructor and that executed after the edit. I am led to believe that the edit function is independent from calling the edit stored procedure of the database. Is there a better way to go about this?     My UI is not updating when I expect it to. The application displays "projects" using a view similar to iTunes -- a source list on the left lets you filter a list (NSTableView) on the right. My filters update properly when they are examining any simple field (like name, a string), but not for arrays (like tags). I'm removing a tag from one of my objects (from an NSMutableArray field called "tags") and I expect it to disappear from the list because it no longer matches the predicate that is bound to my table's NSArrayController.   • XML Schema Header & Namespace Config

    Migrating from DTD to XSD and for some reason the transition is a bumpy one. I understand how to define the schema once I'm inside the <xs:schema> root tag, but getting past the header & namespace declaration stuff is proving to be especially confusing for me. I have been trying to follow the well-laid out tutorial on W3S but even that tutorial seems to assume a lot of knowledge up front. I guess what I'm looking for is a King's English explanation of which attributes do what, where they go, and why: xmlns xmlns:xs xmlns:xsi targetNamespace xsi:schemaLocation And in some cases I see different variations of these elements/attributes, such as xsi which seems to have two different notations like xsi:schemaLocation="..." and xs:import schemaLocation="...". I guess between all these slight variations I can't seem to make heads or tails of what each of these does. Thanks in advance for bringing any clarity to this confusion!

    I display elements in a hierarchy, clicking one displays the next set of elements in the hirearchy. Each element has a tag called "level" which has some value which is 1-.... (whatever the number of levels is for that branch of the tree). When an element is clicked I want the next elements to be displayed, but if an element is clicked and it's subelements have already been displayed I want to hide all subelements. More formally: when an element with level = x is clicked if no elements with level x are displayed then display all elements such that level = x+1 but if some elements with level x are displayed then hide all elements where level x How would I create a jQuery selector that captures this.

    Hello, I have a question. Is it possible to set up a system so that you have a private GIT server that you host, which automatically syncs with a remote one, hosted by a site like Sourceforge, and then you can commit your local to the private GIT server, and then when you have to merge the changes from your private wip branches that are on your private GIT over to the master/branch/tag from the public GIT, and then push the change to the public GIT? I ask this because I have a lot of personal work I would like to get working before putting it up for the public to see, and I'm shifting between several computers/operating systems in the process. If this is not possible in standard GIT, are there any other options that would allow me to do this? Thanks, Peter

  • Implementing Tagging using Core Data on the iPhone

    I have an application that uses CoreData and I'm trying to figure out the best way to implement tagging and filtering by tag. For my purposes, if I was doing this in raw SQLite I would only need three tables, tags, item_tags and of course my items table. Then filtering would be as simple as joining between the three tables where only items are related to the given tags. Quite straightforward. But, is there a way to do this in CoreData and utilizing NSFetchedResultsController? It doesn't seem that NSPredicate give you the ability to filter through joins. NSPredicate's aren't full SQL anyway so I'm probably barking up the wrong tree there. I'm trying to avoid reimplementing my app using SQLite without CoreData since I'm enjoying the performance CoreData gives me in other areas. Yes, I did consider (and built a test implementation) diving into the raw SQLite that CoreData generates, but that's not future proof and I want to avoid that, too. Has anyone else tried to tackle tagging/filtering with CoreData in a UITableView with NSFetchedResultsController

  • Prototype and jQuery concatenation failure

    I found something strange when trying to concatenate prototype and jQuery. It seems as though when concatenated, the $ jquery reference doesn't get overwritten by prototype. I've built two test cases to single this out, and it's failing in Chrome8 and FF 3.6. Test Case 1 - Without Concatenation jQuery and Prototype are loaded separately with different script tags. jQuery is loaded first, Prototype second. Test Case 2 - With Concatenation jQuery and Prototype are concatenated into a single file, and loaded with a single script tag. jQuery is first in the script, and prototype is added second. These should act identically, but the second test is throwing errors because the $ function in prototype doesn't overwrite the $ jquery reference. Did I set these up wrong, or are browsers rendering javascript differently when it's all in the same file?

  • Is is possible to parse a web page from the client side for a large number of words and if so, how?

    I have a list of keywords, about 25,000 of them. I would like people who add a certain < script tag on their web page to have these keywords transformed into links. What would be the best way to go and achieve this? I have tried the simple javascript approach (an array with lots of elements and regexping/replacing each) and it obviously slows down the browser. I could always process the content server-side if there was a way, from the client, to send the page's content to a cross-domain server script (I'm partial to PHP but it could be anything) but I don't know of any way to do this. Any other working solution is also welcome.

    I'm loading an image in an iframe and then (once the iframe is loaded) loading the image on the page. But most browsers seem to be loading the image twice. Why isn't the img tag being loading from the cache?   • Handling hundreds of dependencies with ant

    Hi guys, I have to refactor an ant xml file. Basicly I have one big task that checkouts (using cvs) a lot of dependencies, build them, and then copy all the jar/wsdl generated by building them to a directory that I specify. If one dependency version changes, I have to change the name in at least 3 places on the xml file (cvs checkout, build, copy). What I'd like to have is just a single place where I can specify my dependencies name, without having to search & replace the dependency name through the code. One of the problems is that the cvs project could be /path1/path2/project with tag=v12 but then the jars generated by the single project build could be several with different names, so it seems to be a bit complicated. Do you have any idea on how I can get this done?

  • Rendering "partial" pages in ASP.Net? (without the <html> and such)

    Hello, I am trying to make use of jQueryUI AJAX tabs in my ASP.Net Webforms project. I have come up against a wall though. For AJAX, you must render only a partial page(no <html> and such elements) by an external URL. How would you best do this in ASP.Net? aspx files require things like a <html> and <head> tag so those wouldn't work so the only thing that comes to mind is using cumbersome ashx files. Am I just over thinking this? Is there an easier way?

    I need to create an input form that will allow a user to enter any number of values for a particular attribute. I've tried several approaches, all of which seem to have various levels of failure. The latest model bean looks something like: public class Product { private String name; private String[] tags; ...accessors... } The input fields look something like: <h:inputText id="name" value="#{product.name}"></h:inputText> <h:inputText id="tag0" value="#{product.tag[0]}"></h:inputText> My plan was to allow the user is to use javascript to add additional form fields as needed.   • Using same Debug settings for Start External Program across 32 bit and 64 bit debug environments

    We use a mixture of 32-bit and 64-bit development environments. Some of our class libraries are debugged using a 32-bit application so we have debug settings for "Start External Program" and "Working Directory". The problem is that the settings need to be different since the 32-bit application is installed to C:\Program Files\xxx (on the 32-bit dev enviroment) or C:\Program Files (x86)\xxx (on the 64-bit dev environment) Is there a way to use some sort of tag like %PROGRAMFILES% or $(ProgramFiles) so that Visual Studio 2008 will know where to look for the external program? This wouldn't be a major issue except the solution file (where the debug information is saved) is checked into source control...so getting the latest version of the solution from our source repository keeps yoyo'ing the debug settings between the two program files locations.
