• Custom DDL Templates for Visual Studio 2010

  I was wondering if anyone knows of some good community distributed custom DDL templates for Entity Framework 4.0. The default DDL to SQL10 Works well enough, but we're looking to do some customization to the naming convention that it just isn't offering us. I'm not really finding many samples out there of people doing this, so I was hoping someone might know of a resource I'm overlooking (perhaps I am searching for it wrong, or misunderstanding how the whole process works) Specifically we're wanting to change up how it writes out fields from relationships. For instance, the default template puts in.. tablename_propertyendpoint_propertyname. We're wanting to find tune this to our naming scheme a little more. And none of us can quite figure out where in the .tt files it is doing this exact behavior.

• Can anyone help me with a complex sum, 3 table join mysql query?

  Hey guys I have a query and it works fine, but I want to add another table to the mix. The invite table I want to add has two fields: username and user_invite. Much like this site, I am using a point system to encourage diligent users. The current query which is displayed below adds the up votes and down votes based on the user in question: $creator. I want to count the number of entries for that same user from the invite table, and add 50 for each row it finds to the current output/sum of my query. Is this possible with one query, or do I need two?   Hallo, my SO friend, my question is: Specification: annotate the fields of FILE_2 to the corresponding position of FILE_1. A field is marked, and hence identified, by a delimiter pair. I did this job in python before I knew awk and sed, with a couple hundred lines of code. Now I want to see how powerful and efficient awk and sed can be. • How do I create an editable databound combo box in a DataGrid in WinForm

  I have a noob question. I have a WinForm (.net 2.0 in VS 2008) on my from I have a DataGrid One of the fields in that datagrid is a combo box that is bound to a separate table. this works, but I am unable to edit or add, I cannot add a value that is not on the list. I am looking to create a lookup box for lack of a better term. The form is for Parts Order Entry In the data Grid Data Source is PartsOrder_table, the Work order Field is a int in the PartsOrder_table, and the combo box is bound to the WorkOrder_table. The WorkOPRder_Table has WorkOrd_ID int and WrkOrd nvarchar(10) the Combo Box Data Source is WorkOrd_Table Display Member is WorkOrd Value Member is WorkOrder_ID This works great with the problem that I cannot add or select anything not in WorkOrder_table. • How to print all rows in one page with Crystal Reports

  I am using Crystal Reports 2011. I am totally new to crystal reports and reporting tools in general. I just added my data fields to the details section, but instead of showing all the rows in one page, a new page is created for each row. I did not use any grouping or change the section paging settings. This only happens for a blank report, when using the report wizard it works fine, but I can't see the difference between what I did and what the report wizard did.

• what's the right way to do polymorphism with protocol buffers?

  I'm trying to long-term serialize a bunch of objects related by a strong class hierarchy in java, and I'd like to use protocol buffers to do it due to their simplicity, performance, and ease of upgrade. However, they don't provide much support for polymorphism. Right now, the way I'm handling it is by having a "one message to rule them all" solution that has a required string uri field that allows me to instantiate the correct type via reflection, then a bunch of optional fields for all the other possible classes I could serialize, only one of which will be used (based on the value of the uri field). Is there a better way to handle polymorphism, or is this as good as I'm going to get?

  Hi everyone, I am experiencing a problem that has popped up recently and is causing quite a bit of trouble for our system.   Recently I have worked with Core Data. When I want to set a default value for some fields, I came up with this problem: So I made a simple represent: We have 2 class Parent and Child, in which Child inherit from Parent. // Parent.h @interface Parent : NSObject @property (strong, nonatomic) NSString *lastName; // Child.h @interface Child : Parent In Parent class, I made a custom getter to set a default value when nothing is set: // Parent.h - (NSString *)lastName { if (_lastName) { return _lastName; } else { return @"Parent Default Name"; } } But I cannot make a custom default value for the field "name" which Child inherits from its Parent. // Child.h @implementation Child - (NSString *)lastname { if (super.lastName) { return super.lastName; } else { return @"Child Default Name"; } } Apparently, this method is never called. So my question here is: How can I set a custom getter for the field the Child class inherits from Parent without define an overriding property?

• What do I need to learn to make a website that can make a text file?

  I want to make a website, but all I know is basic HTML and CSS. On this website, I want the user to input in multiple text fields (sort of like they take a quiz) and then the program will make a text file based on the user input which the user can download. I want it to work backwards, too, so that the text file is the input. What do I need to learn to make a website to do this? Will javascript do the trick? I'm a beginning to intermediate programmer, mainly with java and I've learned some C# recently. I thought I could learn ASP.Net for this, but it turns out my hosting doesn't support it.

  I have an admin where users from multiple properties can enter in monthly statistics for twitter/facebook followers. We do not have access to the real data/db so this is why a manual entry. The form looks like this: Type ( radio, select **one** only ): - Twitter - Facebook Followers/Fans ( textfield ): Property (dropdown): Hotel A, Hotel B Date Start: mm/dd/yyyy (textfield) Date End: mm/dd/yyyy (textfield) Question 1.1: Since I am only keeping track of month per month, the date start/end fields which I have already created might be too specific. Would it be a better idea just to have a start month/year and and month/year if that's the only thing I care about? Question 1.2: What schema could I use for month to month statistics if I were to change the date start and end textfields to start month/year and end month/year dropdowns?

• Best way of invoking getter by reflection

  Hello, I need to get the value of a field with a specific annotation, So with reflection I am able to get this Field Object. The problem is that this field will be always private though I know in advance it will always have a getter method. I know that I can use setAccesible(true) and get its value (when there is no PermissionManager), though I prefer to invoke its getter method. I know that I could look for the method by looking for "get+fieldName" (though I know for example for boolean fields are sometimes named as "is+fieldName"). I wonder if there is a better way to invoke this getter (many frameworks use getters/setters to access the attributes so maybe they do in another way). Thanks

• Handling missing data

  Say I have a simple helpdesk application which logs calls made by users. I would typically have such fields in a table relating to the call e.g. CallID, Description, CustomerID etc. I Would also have a table of customers including CustomerID, Username, Password, FullName etc. Now when a user is deleted from the customers table then the inner join between the calls table and the users table to find out historically which user logged a call would produce no results. How do people usually deal with this? Have seperate customer and useraccount tables Just disable the accounts so the data is still available Record the customers name in the calls table as a seperate field. or any other methods / suggestions?

  I have 3 fields in my table: start, end (dates) and length (number, might be blank). My Aim is to calculate an end date using start and length where end doesn't exist... I have: SELECT Switch((g.length<>0) And IsDate(g.end),DateAdd("m",g.length,g.start)) AS field FROM table g If there is no start, end or length, Access displays blank - this is fine. If there is no end, but start and length are ok, the calculated date is shown - again fine. BUT If there is no end, or length, but a start exists, access displays #Error I don't understand why, and can't fix it, please help!

• Need advice on multitab form in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi all, i need an advice on how to implement my form. I have a requirement: i need a form that spans through 5 tabs. Each tab has around 10 fields, some of them empty, some of them must contain data from db and be non editable. Each of these tabs must be a part of one form that is submitted to my controller. The question is: what is the best way to implement this? I was thinking about having partial views on each tab, each view would have its own model class. After form gets filled all data from all partials would go to action that will take care of all of it. Any advices? I am using ASP.NET MVC 1, Entity Framework 1, mvc extensions from Telerik and jQuery

  Hey All, Im using the codeigniter upload library to upload multiple files, which works fine ... What im having problems with is returning the information about the files. Im using the following code to print the results for testing echo '<pre>'; print_r($this->upload->data()); echo '</pre>'; A cut down version of the results are as follows Array ( [file_name] => Array ( [0] => filename1.gif [1] => filename2.jpg ) ) The way my view is setup, is that i use jquery to insert multiple dynamic file input fields so the amount of files can be 1, it can be 50 and so on. Im wondering how i would loop through that array to send each filename to the database

  Hello, I was wondering if there is a way to make an array which would have multiple types of data fields. So far I was using aMyArray: array of array [0..1] of TPoint; But now, it is not enough for me. I need to add 3 more elements to the existing 2 "Point" elements making it an array like aMyArray: array of (TPoint,TPoint,real,real,real) So each element of aMyArray would have 5 'children', 2 of which are of a TPoint type and 3 of them are 'real' type. Is this possible to implement somehow?

• Proper chart scaling in Reporting Services 2005

  I'm developing a simple bar-chart in Reporting Services 2005 with a stored procedure as data-source. The values in this graph can be both positive and negative, and can span a very big range, and hence I cannot specify any non-dynamic scale that will work for all scenarios. The problem I'm facing is that the automatic scaling pretty much sucks. I get no line to show where the zero-point is, and the y-scale labels are from top to bottom: 8818 -191181 -391181 etc etc... So my question is, what is the best approach to make the scale more adapted to human reading? Is there any guide out there? Does reporting services 2008 handle this better? Also, moving away from Reporting Services is not really an option. I realize how to put values and expression in the max, min, and the gridline interval fields, although its more of a question what expressions I should put there.

• Django admin panel doesn't work after modify default user model.

  I was trying to extend user profile. I founded a few solutions, but the most recommended was to create new user class containing foreign key to original django.contrib.auth.models.User class.   I'm studying ASP.NET MVC and I use LINQ to SQL for model. I have a table named "Note" with the fields "Title" and "Content". The "Content" field can contain thousand characters. What I want to do is to display the LIST of notes in a page. I use table with two columns, for "Title" and SUBSTRING of the "Content" (50 characters). My problem is, I don't know how to edit the model so that it will display only the substring of the "Content". Thanks in advance!

• What is the right way to implement communication between java objects?

  I'm working on an academic project which simulates a rather large queuing procedure in java. The core of the simulator rests within one package where there exist 8 classes, each one implementing a single concept. Every class in the project follows SRP. These classes encapsulate the behavior of the simulator and inter-connect every other class in the project. The problem that has arisen is that most of these 8 classes are, as is logical i think, tightly coupled and each one has to have working knowledge of every other class in this package in order to be able to call methods from it when needed. The application needs only one instance of each class so it might be better to create static fields for each class in a new class and use that to make calls -instead of preserving a reference in each class for every other class in the package (which I'm certain that is incorrect)-, but is this considered a correct design solution? or is there a design pattern maybe that better suits my needs?
