• Is JPA + EJB to much slow (or heavy) for over Internet transactions?

  Hi, I am developing a stand-alone java client application that connects to a Glassfish v3 application for JPA/EJB facade style transactions. In other words, my client application do not connect directly to the database to CRUD, but it transfers JPA objets using EJB stateless sessions. I have scenarios where this client application will be used in an external network connected with a VPN over Internet with a client connection of 512kbp/DSL, and a simple query takes so much time, I'm seeing the traffic graph and when I merge a entity in the client application I see megabytes of traffic (I couldn't believe how a purchase order entity could weight more than 1 mb). I have LAZY fetch in almost every many-to-many relationship, but I have a lot of many-to-one relationships between entities (but this is the great advantage of JPA!). Could I do something to accelerate the the speed of transactions between JPA/EJB server and the remote java client? Thank you in advance.

• aspx page gives viewstate error

  Hi, I have a simple aspx page with one grid view. When deployed on server, and accessed through that machine, it works fine. However, when connected through load balancer, we get this error ( when click on any button). The page however refreshes when pressed F5. Validation of viewstate MAC failed. If this application is hosted by a Web Farm or cluster, ensure that <machineKey> configuration specifies the same validationKey and validation algorithm. AutoGenerate cannot be used in a cluster. Any idea what is happening here???

• Chat Server with sockets in C

  I'm trying to write a chat server in C that allows communication between two clients using POSIX sockets. I'm not sure I have a good grasp on this concept or how I should set up the communication protocol between the clients and the server. I know I need one socket to bind() the server port to so I can accept incoming connections from clients, but in order to have two clients connected at the same time do I need to create a socket for each of these clients when I accept() or should I accept() a client and then fork() so I can have another client accept? I'm not worried about concurrent chatting yet, it's more of a ping-pong approach where the clients need to wait for a recv() after they send() before they can type a new message.

  I have 3 Tables in my DataBase CmsMasterPages CmsMasterPagesAdvSlots (Pure Juction Table) CmsAdvSlots Here a Picture of my EDM: I need find out all objects CmsAdvSlot connected with a CmsMasterPage (it is working in my code posted belove), and DELETE the result (CmsAdvSlot) from the DataBase. My Problem is I am not able to DELETE this Objects when I found theme. • why i'm permanently logged off my be

  Hello i have a problem with BE in my system. I'm permanently and automaticly logged out it after some time. 10-15 seconds, sometimes faster, sometimes slower. It's not connected with beeing idle cause I can be logged off even when I'm checking page tree or saving records I've set lock ip on 1 but it didn't help. The problem is most common under Firefox or Chome, what is strange under internet explorer i don't see it as often Other strange thing is that I see it on my live version but when I'm working on my local copy it doen not occure TYPO3 version 4.6.4

• What library to use to create a simple port scanner?

  I need advise to create a simple port-scanner, who will need to detect if some specific devices are connected to the network from theire IP/MAC address. I am working on windows 7 and can use preferably C++ Builder 2010 Embarcadero, or java or Qt. The library have to be under a public domain or equivalent, as my software is a proprietary software. What library would you advice? Do you know any free software that I could start from, or any examples? What about using Indy Sockets or Synapse TCP/IP Librarys? Thanks in advance.

  I have a network server application written in C, the listener is bound using INADDR_ANY so it can accept connections via any of the IP addresses of the host on which it is installed. I need to determine which of the server's IP addresses the client used when establishing its connection - actually I just need to know whether they connected via the loopback address 127.0.0.1 or not.   Hi, I have some problems understanding the linear linked list data structure. This is how I define a list element: class Node{ Object data; Node link; public Node(Object pData, Node pLink){ this.data = pData; this.link = pLink; } } To keep it simple we say that a list are linked nodes so we do not need to define a class list (recursion principle). My problem is that I am really confused in understanding how nodes are connected, more precisely the sequence of the nodes when we connect them. Node n1 = new Node(new Integer(2), null); Node n2 = new Node(new Integer(1), n1); What is link? Is it the previous or the next element? Any other suggestions to help me understanding this data structure?

  Hi all, Basically what I'm trying to achieve is a program which allow users to connect to a each other over a network in, essentially, a chat room. What I'm currently struggling with is writing the code so that the users can connect to each other without knowing the IP-address of the computer that the other users are using or knowing the IP-address of a server. Does anyone know of a way in which I could simply have all of the users scan the IP range of my network in order to find any active 'room' and then give the user a chance to connect to it? Also, the hope is that there will be no need for a central server to run this from, rather every user will simply be connected to all other user, essentially being the server and client at the same time.

  I have a lot of cycles ( indicated by numeric values, for example, 1-2-3-4 corresponds to a cycle, with 4 edges, edge 1 is {1:2}, edge 2 is {2:3}, edge 3 is {3,4}, edge 4 is {4,1}, and so on). A cycle is said to be connected to another cycle if they share one and only one edge. For example, let's say I have two cycles 1-2-3-4 and 5-6-7-8, then there are two cycle groups because these two cycles are not connecting to each other. If I have two cycles 1-2-3-4 and 3-4-5-6, then I have only one cycle group because these two cycles share the same edge. What is the most efficient way to find all the cycle groups?

  Say you have n people, each who owe each other money. In general it should be possible to reduce the amount of transactions that need to take place. i.e. if X owes Y £4 and Y owes X £8, then Y only needs to pay X £4 (1 transaction instead of 2). This becomes harder when X owes Y, but Y owes Z who owes X as well. I can see that you can easily calculate one particular cycle. It helps for me when I think of it as a fully connected graph, with the nodes being the amount each person owes. Problem seems to be NP-complete, but what kind of optimisation algorithm could I make, nevertheless, to reduce the total amount of transactions? Doesn't have to be that efficient, as N is quite small for me.

• Develop iPhone application remotely?

  4 java developers are new to iPod Touch/iPhone app development. They have an idea for an app. They have never used Xcode or Macs before. Instead of spending money for a new iMac or Mac Mini for each of them, my boss would like to sell them a $999 Apple server, hosted at a facility connected a single T1 line, and have all 4 people work remotely in Xcode. Is this feasible? Is anyone doing anything like this? Specifically, is 1 T1 enough for realistic remote app development? Would they have to work in black & white via Logmein or Gotomeeting to get decent speed? Can four people work remotely together on an Xcode project at the same time? Do they absolutely need their own Macs to connect their iPod Touches or iPhones physically to, or can they connect to their existing PCs with iTunes and install their in-development apps that way?

  Im using Navigation Controller for my ViewControllers,I set my importantViewController as something like this to be its RootView: UINavigationController *navControl = [[UINavigationController alloc] initWithRootViewController: vc]; [self presentModalViewController: navControl animated: YES]; Then, I pushView anotherView the FrontViewController like this: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; After a button is pressed in FrontViewController another view will be pushed ViewA but it is connected with another ViewController ViewB the same way as this AGAIN: [self.navigationController pushViewController:vc animated:YES]; (Which I think Im doing wrong when dismissing either of them with [self.navigationController popViewControllerAnimated:YES];) This is an illustration: My problem is, I need to navigate between View A and View B then when I dismiss either of them it will got back to FrontViewController. • Using PHP's $_COOKIE to create cookie.txt for cURL

  Hi, I'm running Drupal and Mediawiki on my server under the same domain. They are connected to each other with extensions/modules. Meaning if I log in to Mediawiki, it automatically logs into Drupal also. Mediawiki has some extensions that filter the information shown on the page. What I want to do is to show that filtered information from Mediawiki on my Drupal page. I'm trying to fetch the data with PHP cURL, but I'm not able to force it to use the login information. How can I convert PHP's $_COOKIE into cURL cookie.txt format? I suppose after that I'm able to fetch the data from Mediawiki with the right permissions. • RSpec: in-depth differences between before(:all) and before(:each)

  Ok, so I've ran into a very strange issue, directly connected with before blocks. I'm doing a integration testing via Watir and RSpec. For a simple test to check if user can perform a login I'm creating a 'user' record in the db by means of factory_girl. So I put the following code: before(:each) do @user = Factory(:user) end if "should perform a login" do # do stuff end In do stuff I call a browser and see how the user tries to login. Unfortunately, somehow he cannot do that — "Username isn't valid". After some investigation I discovered that if I put the code for creating user in before(:all) block, everything magically works. How's that? What's the difference between :all and :each in this context? Also, If I put the code for creating user actually in the test body, it still doesn't work (i.e. user somehow isn't added to the DB or something).

  Under WindowsCE, C++ project, I'm trying to work with devices connected via both "real" serial ports and/or serial-to-usb wrappers ("virtual" serial ports); my problem is - when I try to open the port, if something goes wrong, the function never returns and the system goes into some non-responsive state and has to be eventually rebooted. I need to open the ports from the main thread. • Possible to not use ID field but another column name? in Lift

  I am connected to a oracle database from a scala/lift webapp. I have been able to successfully pull information from the database as I wished but am having one issue. For each table I want to access I am required to add an ID field so that the app will work with the trait IdPK. What mapper class or trait can I use to override this? I have been trying to find one but been unable to locate it. Figured people have not always had an ID field on every table they make that is just called ID... class DN_REC extends LongKeyedMapper[DN_REC] with IdPK { def getSingleton = DN_REC object dn_rec_id extends MappedInt(this){ } This is what I am talking about. • AJAX Autocomplete appears at a random vertical position, not touching the textbox

  Hi, I am using the AJAX Autocomplete extender for ASP.NET 2. Everything works fine...I am calling a webservice which gets me the values to fill the drop down with after 3 letters are typed into certain es. I have set the maxheight attribute and am using a scrollbar in case there are more entries than would fit that height. However, I notice that in some cases, the drop down appears at a random position on the screen, i.e. rather than connected to the relevant textbox, sometimes it appears with its entries above the textbox, not touching it at all. Sometimes it would have just one entry and it would appear in the middle of the screen vertically above the textbox it is associated to. Is there a reason why this is happening?

  I have classes Compose and Haiku, each connected to a view controller in IB. Haiku is instantiated in Compose as ghhaiku. Haiku has an array, self.arrayOfHaiku, with 117 members. But in Compose, self.ghhaiku.arrayOfHaiku has no members. I think the problem is that I haven't linked the instance of Haiku that has the 117-member array with the instance of Haiku created in Compose. But how do I do that? (I could of course be totally wrong and the problem could be something else, but that seems to make intuitive sense.) Any thoughts?

  I'm making a rails 3.2.9 app that allows users to create pages and they can embed youtube videos through a nested form. I'm trying to figure out how to make it so that I can prevent duplicate video records from being stored in my db. So I have a Video model that takes the youtube url and just parses out the video id and stores that instead of the full user submitted youtube url, which may have extraneous url query parameters. So here's the situation that I'm trying to figure out: There's page1 with video1 - url: 123 and video2 - url: abc Then another user creates page2 and submits video3 - url: def and video4 - url: 123 Currently each page has_many videos. But I think I should change it to a many-to-many relationship. But how would I make it so that the url submitted as video4 in the nested form points to video1? Also I how would I make a nested form that creates objects that are connected through a join table?

• java - Depth First Search - Perform DFS on a tree

  Im trying to perform DFS on a Minimum Spanning Tree which contains 26 nodes. Nodes are named 'A' to 'Z' and the tree is undirected. I have an empty function called DFS here that I am trying to write, which (i presume) takes in the tree (a 2D array) a startNode (randomly selected node 'M') and the endNode (randomly selected node 'Z'). The weights of connected nodes are identified in the 2D array parameter, but how do I actually get started visiting nodes? All that is required is to print each nodeName in the order of the DFS traversal. Do I need to create a Node_class for each node in the 2d array??
