• Embedding an existing exe file into another program

  Is there a way to link an existing .exe file with other C++ source files during compilation? What I'm actually trying to do is to compress and decompress some files in my console program using LZMA(7zip) SDK but unfortunately it's very difficult to use for a newbie. There is a command line version of LZMA called 7za.exe and I am wondering if I can somehow embed it into my program and use it like a function. It can be easily used with system() function (which seems to be a very dangerous thing to use) but then if I send my program to someone who doesn't have 7za.exe in the right folder it won't work. I came across CreateProcess() function in windows.h header files but it seems to achieve what system() does in a more proper and advanced way. I don't know if it can actually link the exe file like an object file during compilation

  I have a javascript application and when I run it on firefox I am getting the following erro on the console: "The stylesheet was not loaded because its MIME type, "text/html" is not "text/css". DumbStuck!! EDIT: Note that it tells that "The stylesheet ABCD..." But ABCD is actually an HTML file. Edit (ANSWER) : Actually I had wrongly put href="", and hence the html file was refenecing itself as the CSS. Mozilla had the similar bug once, and it is from there I got the answer. But everyone's else answers helped me too. Thanks.

• Rails shoulda and factory_girl setup

  I have installed both shoulda and factory_girl, I can run shoulda just fine, but when I add this: require 'factory_girl' Factory.define :user do |u| u.mail '[email protected]' u.pass 'secret' end to my test/test_helper.rb I'm getting this error: /test/test_helper.rb:1:in `require': no such file to load -- factory_girl (LoadError) when I execute rake test:units I have installed both gems using: sudo gem install thoughtbot-shoulda --source=http://gems.github.com sudo gem install thoughtbot-factory_girl --source=http://gems.github.com and can see both of them being installed fine. And by the way, this works fine as well: script/console Loading development environment (Rails 2.3.8) require 'factory_girl' = [] so requiring the gems seems to be working

  Hi everybody here, I want to use mootools and SqueezBox class to handle a request to a RESTful service. I don't want to use any server-side script. I am using AJAX. I send a request to the following url using GET method. http://www.idevcenter.com/api/v1/links/links-upcoming.json but I receive a 404 error. • Import received e-mails from Outlook to MSSQL database

  How can I automatically import some data from received e-mail from Outlook to MSSQL database? So, when I receive an e-mail (from a preset sender), Outlook should be able to run an external application with the subject and body as parameter. This application will then parse the body of the e-mail and send it to database. Is it possible to set this in 'Rules and alerts' in Outlook (I don't think so)? Or is it possible to do it with macros (an example would be nice). Or else...? I am using Microsoft Outlook 2007 (no Exchange Server), let's say, that incoming mail is from @gmail domain, the externam application would probably be a C# console application, database is SQL SERVER 2005.

• 0xDEADBEEF equivalent for 64-bit development?

  For C++ development for 32-bit systems (be it Linux, Mac OS or Windows, PowerPC or x86) I have initialised pointers that would otherwise be undefined (e.g. they can not immediately get a proper value) like so: int *pInt = reinterpret_cast<int *>(0xDEADBEEF); (To save typing and being DRY the right-hand side would normally be in a constant, e.g. BAD_PTR.) If pInt is dereferenced before it gets a proper value then it will crash immediately on most systems (instead of crashing much later when some memory is overwritten or going into a very long loop). Of course the behavior is dependent on the underlying hardware (getting a 4 byte integer from the odd address 0xDEADBEEF from a user process may be perfectly valid), but the crashing has been 100% reliable for all the systems I have developed for so far (Mac OS 68xxx, Mac OS PowerPC, Linux Redhat Pentium, Windows GUI Pentium, Windows console Pentium). For instance on PowerPC it is illegal (bus fault) to fetch a 4 byte integer from an odd address. What is a good value for this on 64-bit systems?

• Does flex not support hashmaps?

  I have a Flex object which collects a DTO from the server. All the fields arrive filled in correctly except for the one that is a HashMap. It arrives as null. I've tried giving it a type of both ArrayCollection and Dictionary, but that hasn't fixed it. Does anyone know if there's an inherent incomaptability between Java HashMap and Flex? If not, what might I be doing wrong here? I'm looking at my jboss console and I see the data being populated correctly in the server side before delivery to the client. However, as it gets to the client, that field is null. I'm ready to kill myself.

• How can I get Hudson to be able to access JUnit?

  I've got Hudson running on TOMCAT, it can build my Netbeans project using the ant build.xml, but it won't run any of my unit tests because of what I assume is a problem with the classpath: package org.junit does not exist [javac] import org.junit.After; [javac] ^ But I've got the junit-4.8.1.jar on the classpath in /etc/environment and I can successfuly run the junit tests from a console using java org.junit.runner.JUnitCore org.junit.tests.AllTests My CLASSPATH is set to /home/bedwyr/junit4.8.1/junit-4.8.1.jar:. Am I going wrong somewhere or is there anything else I need to set? [edit] What I did was to export/include (using the ide) all libraries (including Junit) hudson then reads all it needs from the subversion repo. I then ran into an issue with exposing hudson to the internet, and pretty soon gave up on tomcat on ubuntu server (again, to do with the tomcat security manager) - glassfish is a lot smoother and that's where I am now - apache front end with ajp_proxy to hudson on glassfish.

  I've a Core Data application. In the producer thread, I pull data from a web service and store it in my object and call save. My consumer object is a table view controller that displays the same. However, the app crashes and I get NSFetchedResultsController Error: expected to find object (entity: FeedEntry; id: 0xf46f40 ; data: ) in section (null) for deletion on the console. When I debug it, everything works fine. So I understood that it's like a race issue. How is these kind of problem solved? What's the best way to design a producer-consumer app with core-data?

• Using string.Format for simple things?

  In my early .Net programming days, I used string.Format() only for complex string concatenations, for example to compile strings as Problem with customer order 234 of date 2/2/2002 and payment id 55543. But now I use string.Format for almost every string concatenation I have to do, also simple ones such as prefixing a string with something. Console.WriteLine(string.Format("\t\t{0}", myString)); Is there any possible overhead on this? Maybe I should use the regular + operator to do these simple operations? What's your opinion on this?

  Hello! I have the coordinates of my marker. Now I want to get the address of the marker. So I searched the web and found google maps reserve geocode. • Call a macro every time any method is called - Objective C

  Hi, I wrote a debug macro that prints to the console the passed-in string whenever the global kDebug flag == YES. I need to print out the name of a method and it's classname whenever any method is called. That works fine when i painstakingly go through every method and write the name of the class and the method in a string. Is there any special handler that gets called when any method in Objective-C is called, and if so, is there a way i can somehow override it to call my debug macro?? The entire purpose of this is so that I don't have to go through every method in my code and hand-code the method signature in the debug macro call. Thanks

• How can I work around the fact that in C++, sin(3.14159265) is not 0?

  In C++, const double Pi = 3.14159265; cout << sin(Pi); // displays: 3.58979e-009 it SHOULD display the number zero I understand this is because Pi is being approximated, but is there any way I can have a value of Pi hardcoded into my program that will return 0 for sin(Pi)? (a different constant maybe?) In case you're wondering what I'm trying to do: I'm converting polar to rectangular, and while there are some printf() tricks I can do to print it as "0.00", it still doesn't consistently return decent values (in some cases I get "-0.00") The lines that require sin and cosine are: x = r*sin(theta); y = r*cos(theta); BTW: My Rectangular - Polar is working fine... it's just the Polar - Rectangular Thanks! edit: I'm looking for a workaround so that I can print sin(some multiple of Pi) as a nice round number to the console (ideally without a thousand if-statements)

I have seen this functionality a lot in Apple applications and I know updates and fixes are something you must anticipate for when deploying an application. Can I see the SQL code that will be passed directly to database? Example: I see select this_.code from true.employee this_ where this_.code=? • Not Seeing Ajax Requests In Firebug If Header Has Been Modified

  Hey braintrust, I'm making an ajax call using jQuery's library to an api, which requires a username and password encoded to base64 be added to the header. here's a basic example: $.ajax({ type: "GET", contentType: 'application/json', beforeSend:function(xhr){ xhr.setRequestHeader("Authentication", "Basic " + base64EncodedValue); } url: 'https://api.company.com/uri/', complete: function(result) { alert(result); } }); But when this fires off, I get a black alert box, so it doesn't appear as if something is coming back. There is no log in the Firebug console that a get ajax request was done. However, if I remove the beforeSend option, I do see the ajax request get logged, but the request gets back a 'not authorized', so it definitely hit the right place. Any ideas on why it's not showing up in Firebug so I can verify the headers are being sent out correctly?

  Hi All, I am using stream.publish to publish some info to a users wall. This all works fine. I am not using FBStreamDialog because i do not want the user to be able to edit the message..... So i have set up my own UI. It all works fine and the stream is published to the users wall, the only issue is that i do not understand the result obtained from the delegate method: - (void)request:(FBRequest*)request didLoad:(id)result { NSLog(@"result = %@", result); } I need to understand what the result is telling me so that i can handle any errors. Currently the following is being printed in the console but i do not know what this means: result = 100000874992250_117813161591916 Any help or advice regarding this issue would be highly appreciated.   'm using to Exhibit to, pretty simply, display some data on historical events and book publication dates: http://f1shw1ck.com/timeline3/exhibit.html Everything works fine, and I have been able to get the timeline running as wanted, until I try to take control of the timeline with a timelineConfig script. After I add this, my timeline continues to work as expected on all browsers, except for IE. Curiously enough, band 0 initializes and is rendered correctly, but band 1 shows no events and does not sync to the band above. But it is picking up the width: 10%", intervalUnit: Timeline.DateTime.DECADE, intervalPixels: 60 specifications, as they are rendered correctly. Since everything works until I call ex:configuration="timelineConfig", since everything works in the other browsers, and since everything almost works in IE, up to the event painting, I have to imagine this is a javascript coding error on my part, but I just can't see it. All I get in my console is Failed to create view View As Timeline." Incidentally, having or not having the gotoYear function seemingly does nothing to change... Thanks for any tips.

• URL Encoding of Characters in a password field

  I am trying to pass login credentials to a PHP script that I have in my iPhone app. When I pull a password with special characters the password is missing certain characters especially the percent sign. I am trying to encode the text but even before I send it, the percent sign is missing. //password_field is a UITextField holding the password: !@#$%^&*() NSString *tmpPass = [password_field.text stringByAddingPercentEscapesUsingEncoding:NSUTF8StringEncoding]; NSLog(p_field.text); NSLog(tmpPass); This is what appears in the console: !@#$^&*() [email protected]&*() Is there any reason why it would be dropping the percent sign?
