  • Issue Passing NSMutableDictionary to Method

    - by roswell
Hello all, I'm trying some basic iPhone programming -- all has been going well but recently I've hit a bit of a roadblock. I've got a chunk of code that's passing an NSMutableDictionary (amongst other things) to a method in another class: [self.shuttle makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:@"login" module:@"login" query:credentials]; The NSMutableArray credentials is previously defined a bit above as such: NSMutableDictionary *credentials = [[NSMutableDictionary alloc] init]; [credentials setObject:username forKey:@"username"]; [credentials setObject:password forKey:@"password"]; The method that receives it looks like such: -(id)makeAPICallAndReturnResultsUsingMode:(NSString *)mode module:(NSString *)module query:(NSMutableDictionary *)query From debugging I have determined that the code works fine up until this point within the above method: [query setObject:self.sessionID forKey:@"session_id"]; At this point, the application terminates -- the Console informs me of this exception: * Terminating app due to uncaught exception 'NSInvalidArgumentException', reason: '* -[NSCFDictionary setObject:forKey:]: method sent to an uninitialized mutable dictionary object' This leads me to believe that I must initialize NSMutableDictionary in some way in my new method before I can access it, but I have no idea how. Any advice?

  • Is there an equivalent to Java's ClassFileTransformer in .NET? (a way to replace a class)

    - by Alix
I've been searching for this for quite a while with no luck so far. Is there an equivalent to Java's ClassFileTransformer in .NET? Basically, I want to create a class CustomClassFileTransformer (which in Java would implement the interface ClassFileTransformer) that gets called whenever a class is loaded, and is allowed to tweak it and replace it with the tweaked version. I know there are frameworks that do similar things, but I was looking for something more straightforward, like implementing my own ClassFileTransformer. Is it possible? EDIT #1. More details about why I need this: Basically, I have a C# application and I need to monitor the instructions it wants to run in order to detect read or write operations to fields (operations Ldfld and Stfld) and insert some instructions before the read/write takes place. I know how to do this (except for the part where I need to be invoked to replace the class): for every method whose code I want to monitor, I must: Get the method's MethodBody using MethodBase.GetMethodBody() Transform it to byte array with MethodBody.GetILAsByteArray(). The byte[] it returns contains the bytecode. Analyse the bytecode as explained here, possibly inserting new instructions or deleting/modifying existing ones by changing the contents of the array. Create a new method and use the new bytecode to create its body, with MethodBuilder.CreateMethodBody(byte[] il, int count), where il is the array with the bytecode. I put all these tweaked methods in a new class and use the new class to replace the one that was originally going to be loaded. An alternative to replacing classes would be somehow getting notified whenever a method is invoked. Then I'd replace the call to that method with a call to my own tweaked method, which I would tweak only the first time is invoked and then I'd put it in a dictionary for future uses, to reduce overhead (for future calls I'll just look up the method and invoke it; I won't need to analyse the bytecode again). I'm currently investigating ways to do this and LinFu looks pretty interesting, but if there was something like a ClassFileTransformer it would be much simpler: I just rewrite the class, replace it, and let the code run without monitoring anything. An additional note: the classes may be sealed. I want to be able to replace any kind of class, I cannot impose restrictions on their attributes. EDIT #2. Why I need to do this at runtime. I need to monitor everything that is going on so that I can detect every access to data. This applies to the code of library classes as well. However, I cannot know in advance which classes are going to be used, and even if I knew every possible class that may get loaded it would be a huge performance hit to tweak all of them instead of waiting to see whether they actually get invoked or not. POSSIBLE (BUT PRETTY HARDCORE) SOLUTION. In case anyone is interested (and I see the question has been faved, so I guess someone is), this is what I'm looking at right now. Basically I'd have to implement the profiling API and I'll register for the events that I'm interested in, in my case whenever a JIT compilation starts. An extract of the blogpost: In your ICorProfilerCallback2::ModuleLoadFinished callback, you call ICorProfilerInfo2::GetModuleMetadata to get a pointer to a metadata interface on that module. QI for the metadata interface you want. Search MSDN for "IMetaDataImport", and grope through the table of contents to find topics on the metadata interfaces. Once you're in metadata-land, you have access to all the types in the module, including their fields and function prototypes. You may need to parse metadata signatures and this signature parser may be of use to you. In your ICorProfilerCallback2::JITCompilationStarted callback, you may use ICorProfilerInfo2::GetILFunctionBody to inspect the original IL, and ICorProfilerInfo2::GetILFunctionBodyAllocator and then ICorProfilerInfo2::SetILFunctionBody to replace that IL with your own. The great news: I get notified when a JIT compilation starts and I can replace the bytecode right there, without having to worry about replacing the class, etc. The not-so-great news: you cannot invoke managed code from the API's callback methods, which makes sense but means I'm on my own parsing the IL code, etc, as opposed to be able to use Cecil, which would've been a breeze. I don't think there's a simpler way to do this without using AOP frameworks (such as PostSharp). If anyone has any other idea please let me know. I'm not marking the question as answered yet.

  • bypass IIS xml file settings at file/folder level

    - by Matt Thrower
Hi, Our site is currently set to pass all files with the xml file extension through the asp.net worker process because all the xml files on the site at the moment are generated dynamically on being hit, by writing the output directly into the response stream. However we now have a requirement to add a file which is much larger and takes several minutes to generate in this way. I wrote a console app to generate the file and set it to run nightly, but because of the global IIS setting directing xml files to run through asp_wp, it's not being served properly. I can't seem to find a way to make an exemption for the treatment of a single file in the IIS settings. Is there any other way we can do it? Cheers, Matt

  • Problem on IE6-8 with jQuery

    - by Alain Fontaine
Hello guys, I'm stuck here with this IE6 issue.. always a pain. So I'm using jQuery's "live" feature to add a product each time. Then once each dropdown's value is changed, an input field assigned to it changes its value too so when I hit submit, it sends all the info. Everything works perfectly fine except in IE6, IE7, and IE8. I have no idea why... I've gone through the code and everything... so please guys. Help! :) These are all the files: Index.php http://pastie.org/967139 Submit.php http://pastie.org/967140 JS http://pastie.org/967141 Please guys, I'm really stuck here. I would appreciate some help. • Figuring out if overflow:auto would have been triggered on a div

    - by jerrygarciuh
Hi folks, // Major edit, sorry in bed with back pain, screwed up post One of the ad agencies I code for had me set up an alternate scrolling solution because you know how designers hate things that just work but aren't beautiful. The scrolling solution is applied to divs with overflow:hidden and uses jQuery's scrollTo(). So, this is married in places to their CMS. What I have not been able to sort yet is how to hide the scrolling UI when overflow:auto would not have been triggered by the CMS content. The divs have set heights and widths. Can i detect hidden content? Or measure the div contents' height? Any ideas? TIA JG

  • Unselected UIPickerView value

    - by morticae
According to the documentation, if a UIPickerView has no selected value, the expected return from selectedRowInComponent: should be: "A zero-indexed number identifying the selected row, or -1 if no row is selected." However, if I check the value the very line after initializing one, its value is 0. Even if I then manually set it to -1, it still returns 0. I would like to be able to detect whether the user has chosen a value yet or not, without recording it in a local variable. Is this possible? example: UIPickerView *picker = [[UIPickerView alloc] initWithFrame:CGRectMake(0.0, 46.0, 320.0, 216.0)]; [picker selectRow:-1 inComponent:0 animated:NO]; NSLog(@"SELECTED %d", [picker selectedRowInComponent:0]); expected output: SELECTED -1 actual output: SELECTED 0

  • How can I stub out a call to super in a imported Java class in JRuby for testing

    - by Doug Chew
I am testing Java classes with RSpec and JRuby. How can I stub out a call to super in an imported Java class in my RSpec test? For example: I have 2 Java classes: public class A{ public String foo() { return "bar"; } } public class B extends A public String foo() { // B code return super.foo(); } } I am just trying to test the code in B.foo and not the code in A.foo with JRuby. How can I stub out the call to the super class method in my RSpec test? rspec test: java_import Java::B describe B do it "should not call A.foo" do # some code to stub out A.foo b = B.new b.foo.should_not == "bar" end end I have tried including a module with a new foo method in B's class hoping that it would hit the module method first but B still makes a call to A. The inserting module technique works in Ruby but not with JRuby and imported Java classes. Any other ideas to stub out the superclass method to get my RSpec test to pass?

  • OpenID like Stack Overflow

    - by eWolf
I want to create an OpenID login with PHP just like it can be found on Stack Overflow. I know there are many questions for this, but mine is different. If I understood it correctly, every OpenID is defined by a unique URL. But: If I hit the Google button on the Stack Overflow login page, one generic URL is inserted in the text field. Is this the direct URL to the OpenID server? And if it is, how do I have to pass the URL to this class?

  • HTTP redirect fallback

    - by Ondrej Stastny
Hi, Is there a way to provide fallback URL when HTTP redirect times out? What I'm trying to achieve is that when I hit the original url, I would respond with HTTP redirect (300, 307?) giving the browser new URL and the fallback URL in case the new URL times out? I was also considering doing this client side but it just does not seem to be very effective (in terms of speed, client support). What I would do is probably have a tiny 1x1px image on each server, try loading it and then check with javascript which server is up and redirect there. Any other ideas? Thanks

  • oauth process for twitter. the difference between client and web application

    - by Radek
I managed to make the oauth process work for PIN kind of verification. My twitter application is client type. When enter authorize url into web browser and grant the application access then I have to enter pin in my ruby application. Can I finish the process of getting access token without the pin thing? My current code is like. What changes do I need to do to make it work without pin? gem 'oauth' require 'oauth/consumer' consumer_key = 'w855B2MEJWQr0SoNDrnBKA' consumer_secret ='yLK3Nk1xCWX30p07Id1ahxlXULOkucq5Rve28pNVwE' consumer=OAuth::Consumer.new consumer_key, consumer_secret, {:site=>"http://twitter.com"} request_token = consumer.get_request_token puts request_token.authorize_url puts "Hit enter when you have completed authorization." pin = STDIN.readline.chomp access_token = request_token.get_access_token(:oauth_verifier => pin) puts puts access_token.token puts access_token.secret

  • detecting circular imports

    - by wallacoloo
I'm working with a project that contains about 30 unique modules. It wasn't designed too well, so it's common that I create circular imports when adding some new functionality to the project. Of course, when I add the circular import, I'm unaware of it. Sometimes it's pretty obvious I've made a circular import when I get an error like AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'attribute' where I clearly defined 'attribute'. But other times, the code doesn't throw exceptions because of the way it's used. So, to my question: Is it possible to programmatically detect when and where a circular import is occuring?

  • Vim: Call an ex command (set) from function?

    - by sixtyfootersdude
Drawing a blank on this, and google was not helpful. Want to make a function like this: function JakPaste() let tmp = :set paste? if tmp == "paste" set nopaste else set paste endif endfunction map <F2> :call JakPaste()<CR> However this does not work. I have isolated the broken line: function JakPaste() let tmp = set paste? endfunction map <F2> :call JakPaste()<CR> Pressing F2 results in this error: Error detected while processing function JakPaste: line 1: E121: Undefined variable: set E15: Invalid expression: set paste? Hit ENTER or type command to continue How should I call an ex command (set) from a vim function? This seems somewhat relevant however I still don't get it.

  • How can I set up .Net unhanlded exception handling in a windows service?

    - by Mike Pateras
protected override void OnStart(string[] args) { AppDomain.CurrentDomain.UnhandledException += new UnhandledExceptionEventHandler(CurrentDomain_UnhandledException); Thread.Sleep(10000); throw new Exception(); } void CurrentDomain_UnhandledException(object sender, UnhandledExceptionEventArgs e) { } I attached a debugger to the above code in my windows service, setting a breakpoint in CurrentDomain_UnhandledException, but it was never hit. The exception pops up saying that it is unhandled, and then the service stops. I even tried putting some code in the event handler, in case it was getting optimized away. Is this not the proper way to set up unhandled exception handling in a windows service?

  • Supporting multiple versions without separate builds in JavaME

    - by Casebash
I want to be able to support multiple versions of Java ME without having to have multiple builds. I already know how to detect the profile/configuration/supported JSRs. My problem is that knowing whether the JSR is supported at run time doesn't allow me to use all the features. For if I call a function added in a later version anywhere in the code - even a location that will never be run, then this will be a compilation error due to static typing. Is there any way round this?

  • Display a "Waiting Menssage" before the POST form send

    - by DomingoSL
I have a upload file form, when you hit Submit it send the file to my server, but it takes a while, in the mean time i need to tell the user wait in order to get the file uploaded, because he can press Submit again because there is no menssage to prevent him. So, the user fill a few fields in the form, including a file. When he Send the form it sends the variables via POST to the same page: <form action="<?php echo $_SERVER['PHP_SELF']; ?>" enctype="multipart/form-data" method="post"> A php script detect the page now have POST variables a do something. In the time between the send action and the page reload i need to display a mensage, how can i do that??? Thanks It will be nice if you now how to trigger that with colorbox. • AnkhSVN: No Versioned Parent Directories when adding a Web Site

    - by CJM
I've recently been trying out Ankhsvn and I quite like it, and more importantly, it generally likes me. But I've hit a problem adding existing VS projects to subversion using AnkhSVN. Most Windows and Web projects are added fine, but I have a problem when I try to a Websites (as opposed to Web Applications), and in these cases I get the following error: No versioned parent directories After some googling, I've come across other people with the same problems and there have been one or two suggests for solving the problem, but non so far have worked. AnkhSVN is popular enough, and although web applications are often preferred to websites these days, I'm hoping that someone here has a ready solution available.

  • How to finish a broken data upload to the production Google App Engine server?

    - by WooYek
I was uploading the data to App Engine (not dev server) through loader class and remote api, and I hit the quota in the middle of a CSV file. Based on logs and progress sqllite db, how can I select remaining portion of data to be uploaded? Going through tens of records to determine which was and which was not transfered, is not appealing task, so I look for some way to limit the number of record I need to check. Here's relevant (IMO) log portion, how to interpret work item numbers? • Create a string with the result of an expression and the expression that originated the value. Is it

    - by Oscar Reyes
Like String r = SomeThing.toExecString("new Object().toString()"); And when executed the value of r would be: "new Object().toString() = java.lang.Object@c5e3974" Is this even possible at all? Would it need a bunch of reflection? A built in compiler maybe? AFAIK, this is not possible with regular Java. The closest thing I could get is IDE support like in IDEA with the "macro" soutv+tab that prints: Hit taband type the expression The IDE types the rest for you. But that's quite another completely thing.

  • XStream or Simple

    - by Adeel Ansari
I need to decide on which one to use. My case is pretty simple. I need to convert a simple POJO/Bean to XML, and then back. Nothing special. One thing I am looking for is it should include the parent properties as well. Best would be if it can work on super type, which can be just a marker interface. If anyone can compare these two with cons and pros, and which thing is missing in which one. I know that XStream supports JSON too, thats a plus. But Simple looked simpler in a glance, if we set JSON aside. Whats the future of Simple in terms of development and community? XStream is quite popular I believe, even the word, "XStream", hit many threads on SO. Thanks.

  • Save a binary file in SQL Server as BLOB and text (or get the text from Full-Text index)

    - by Glennular
Currently we are saving files (PDF, DOC) into the database as BLOB fields. I would like to be able to retrieve the raw text of the file to be able to manipulate it for hit-highlighting and other functions. Does anyone know of a simple way to either parse out the files and save the raw text on save, either via SQL or .net code. I have found that Adobe has a filtdump utility that will convert the PDF to text. Filtdump seems to be a command line tool, and i don't see a way to use a file stream. And what would the extractor be for Office documents and other file types? -or- Is there a way to pull out the raw text from the Full text index? Note i am trying to build a .net & MSSql solution without having to use a third party tool such as Lucene

  • What to do when GMap Satellite imagery is unavailable

    - by robstenson
Hello-- is it possible to programmatically detect with the google maps api (javascript, v2) when satellite imagery is unavailable at a certain zoom level? I am creating some maps automatically and setting them to a certain zoom level, but in a few cases there is no satellite imagery available at that level, in which case I'd like to automatically back up a zoom level. Does the api expose some way of determining this lack of imagery? So far the only thing I can think of is trying to find out, with javascript, whether or not the image requests that the api makes are failing, and then reacting based on those failed image requests, but I can't really get it to work... and it seems a little inelegant. Thanks for your help!

  • Call up last exception on an ASP.NET error page.

I want to use this page to log the exception that triggered it as well because I only want to LOG the errors that the users encounter (i.e. if SiteError.aspx is ever hit.) This is the code I Have: In the OnLoad(...) in SiteError.aspx Exception lastEx = Context.Server.GetLastError(); if (lastEx != null) log.Error("A site error was encountered", lastEx); However, my log is never showing up in my Output, and If i breakpoint on line 2 (in this example) code execution is never interupted (after letting the exception clear to ASP.NET handling in the debugger.

  • How do I drag and drop between two listboxes in XUL?

    - by pc1oad1etter
I am trying to implement drag and drop between two listboxes. I have a few problems 1) I am not detecting any drag events of any kind from the source list box/ I do not seem to be able to drag from it 2) I can drag from my desktop to the target listbox and I am able to detect 'dragenter' 'dragover' and 'dragexit' events. I am noticing that the event parameter is undefined in my 'dragenter' callback - is this a problem? 3) I cannot figure out how to complete the drag and drop operation. From https://developer.mozilla.org/En/DragDrop/Drag_Operations#Performing_... "If the mouse was released over an element that is a valid drop target, that is, one that cancelled the last dragenter or dragover event, then the drop will be successful, and a drop event will fire at the target. Otherwise, the drag operation is cancelled and no drop event is fired." This seems to be referring to a 'drop' event, though there is not one listed at https://developer.mozilla.org/en/XUL/Events . I can't seem to detect the end of the drag in order to call one of the example 'doDrop()' functions that I find on MDC. My example, so far: http://pastebin.mozilla.org/713676 <?xml version="1.0"?> <?xml-stylesheet href="chrome://global/skin/" type="text/css"?> <window xmlns="http://www.mozilla.org/keymaster/gatekeeper/ there.is.only.xul" onload="initialize();"> <vbox> <hbox> <vbox> <description>List1</description> <listbox id="source" draggable="true"> <listitem label="1"/> <listitem label="3"/> <listitem label="4"/> <listitem label="5"/> </listbox> </vbox> <vbox> <description>List2</description> <listbox id="target" ondragenter="onDragEnter();"> <listitem label="2"/> </listbox> </vbox> </hbox> </vbox> <script type="application/x-javascript"> <![CDATA[ function initialize(){ jsdump('adding events'); var origin = document.getElementById("source"); origin.addEventListener("drag", onDrag, false); origin.addEventListener("dragdrop", onDragDrop, false); origin.addEventListener("dragend", onDragEnd, false); origin.addEventListener("dragstart", onDragStart, false); var target = document.getElementById("target"); target.addEventListener("dragenter", onDragEnter, false); target.addEventListener("dragover", onDragOver, false); target.addEventListener("dragexit", onDragExit, false); target.addEventListener("drop", onDrop, false); target.addEventListener("drag", onDrag, false); target.addEventListener("dragdrop", onDragDrop, false); } function onDrag(){ jsdump('onDrag'); } function onDragDrop(){ jsdump('onDragDrop'); } function onDragStart(){ jsdump('onDragStart'); } function onDragEnd(){ jsdump('onDragEnd'); } function onDragEnter(event){ //debugger; if(event){ jsdump('onDragEnter event.preventDefault()'); event.preventDefault(); }else{ jsdump("event undefined in onDragEnter"); } } function onDragExit(){ jsdump('onDragExit'); } function onDragOver(event){ //debugger; if(event){ //jsdump('onDragOver event.preventDefault()'); event.preventDefault(); }else{ jsdump("event undefined in onDragOver"); } } function onDrop(event){ jsdump('onDrop'); var data = event.dataTransfer.getData("text/plain"); event.target.textContent = data; event.preventDefault(); } function jsdump(str) { Components.classes['[email protected]/consoleservice;1'] .getService(Components.interfaces.nsIConsoleService) .logStringMessage(str); } ]]> </script> </window>

  • Pre-generating GUIDs for use in python?

    - by rjuiaa1
I have a python program that needs to generate several guids and hand them back with some other data to a client over the network. It may be hit with a lot of requests in a short time period and I would like the latency to be as low as reasonably possible. Ideally, rather than generating new guids on the fly as the client waits for a response, I would rather be bulk-generating a list of guids in the background that is continually replenished so that I always have pre-generated ones ready to hand out. I am using the uuid module in python on linux. I understand that this is using the uuidd daemon to get uuids. Does uuidd already take care of pre-genreating uuids so that it always has some ready? From the documentation it appears that it does not. Is there some setting in python or with uuidd to get it to do this automatically? Is there a more elegant approach then manually creating a background thread in my program that maintains a list of uuids?
