• UI form component for ASP NET MVC

  Hi I'd like to find a component that help me to build input forms in asp MVC. I find that ther are many components (grid, tree, tab...) but not a "Form component". I know that i can use the HTML HELPER (.labelfor(.. .inputTextFor(... ) ..but i don't like to write the html tags around the fields and labels ( ... ) I want that all the form in my application look similar and, if a change is needed i want to make it in one place ( ex in the "FormComponentFactory()" for example ) I created my own FormComponent but i find myself reinvent the wheel..

• Excel 2003 VSTO convert to PDF

  I have an excel workbook vsto solution that needs to generate a pdf copy of one of its sheets as output. I have a license for abcdpdf .net and tried outputting to html, then using abcpdf to convert the html to pdf, but the excel html markup tries to emulate excel with all 4 worksheets with horrible markup. It also messes up the colors (silver background across entire workbook). Any suggestions? Here is the code I'm currently using to generate the html file: FileInfo excelDoc = new FileInfo(Globals.ThisWorkbook.Path + @"\Document.html"); Globals.Sheet2.SaveAs(excelDoc.FullName, Excel.XlFileFormat.xlHtml, missing, missing, false, false, Excel.XlSaveAsAccessMode.xlNoChange, missing, missing, missing); If I hack away some of the html header tags manually, I can get abcdpf to accept it, but the formatting is a bit off and this solution seems sub optimal.   I've got the following problem: I have rhtml (html minced together with ruby inside <% % and <%= % tags) stored in a database which I want to render. The information is acquired through a query. I need to be able to evaluate the information I get from the database as though as it was normal content inside the .erb-file. What I currently have: <% @mymods.each do |mod| %> <%= render_text(mod["html"])%> <% end %> Where mod["html"] is the variable containing the rhtml-code and @mymods an array of objects from the query. I have currently no idea what function I should use (render_text does, of course, not work). Help is greatly appreciated. /TZer0

• Store web content in XML using wiki markup

  Does anyone have an XML style sheet that'll convert wiki-like markup to HTML? Or is that a bad idea? I only found one style sheet that'll convert HTML to wiki-like markup, view-source:http://mozile.mozdev.org/0.8/demos/html2wiki.xsl . Or is this a bad idea? Basically, instead of following strict rules with my XML tags to format my content, I thought it'd be best to have something like this: <content> \## This is my heading </content> That way I'm free to display my content however I feel without having to modify my style sheet. Any ideas?

  I create a simple webapp using tomcat 6, spring 2.5.6 and maven. The problem is when I boot up tomcat, I am getting the following errors: SEVERE: StandardWrapper.Throwable java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/springframework/ui/ModelMap ... Caused by: java.lang.ClassNotFoundException: org.springframework.ui.ModelMap The ModelMap class does exist in spring-2.5.6.jar and spring-context-2.5.6.jar, I also have some other spring jars. All of them are being deployed to tomcat correctly, when I check the application WEB-INF (deployed to tomcat) I found all those jars there! I have only one @Controller that has a @RequestMapping("/home.htm") showForm(ModelMap model) method. • Displaying untrusted HTML using PHP

  I have a read a number of excellent questions and answers today about dealing with user input. I am now using htmlspecialchars() to display user data in the create/edit forms (but accepting the raw input via prepared PDO statements into my database). The main question I know have is, what do you do when you are allowing the user to submit HTML which will then be displayed to the public. Obviously htmlspecialchars() is no longer suitable as it just encodes the tags and renders the content useless for purpose. My application is currently accepting HTML from an admin for product descriptions. This would allow a malicious admin to inject potentially unsafe data into public facing pages. How do people cope with this?

  Hello, I am after a very lightweight template engine that supports / can be embedded inside Android programs. I've looked at the MiniTemplator (I think that is how you spell it) and that looks great but it loads in only from file and I need to load templates from string and I am not fully confident in changing that code lol. Can anyone recommend a very lightweight (preferably no jars, single source files etc) that I can use ? I do not need it to parse XML or anything like, just normal HTML files with keywords embedded into them betwee %% tags etc. Regards Anthoni

  Hi I have seen this often in code, but when I speak of it i don't know the name of such 'pattern' I have a method with 2 arguments that calls an overloaded method that has 3 arguments and intentionality sets the 3rd one to empty string. public DoWork(string name, string phoneNumber) { CreateContact(name, phoneNumber, string.Empty) } public DoWork(string name, string phoneNumber, string emailAddress) { //do the work } The reason I'm doing this is I to not duplicate code, and allow the existing callers to still call the method that has only 2 parameters. I have associate a few tags to this question, but it probably fit in more categories of questions. Is this a pattern, and does it have a name?

  In Emacs, I'm working with a file that is a hybrid of two languages. Question 1: Is there a simple way to write a major mode file that combines two major modes? Details: The language is called "brew" (not the "BREW" of "Binary Runtime Environment for Wireless"). brew is made up of the languages R and Latex, whose modes are R-mode and latex-mode. The R code appears between the tags <% and %. Everything else is Latex. How can I write a brew-mode.el file? (Or is one already available?) One idea, which I got from this posting, is to use Latex mode, and treat the code of the form <% ... % as a comment. Question 2: How do you change the .emacs file or the latex.el file to have Latex mode treat code of the form <% ... % as a comment?

• Finding an open and closing tag in Regexp

  Is there a way to find custom tags in regexp I.e. match {a}sometext{/a} As well as {c=#fff}sometext{/c} So that it finds the entire block of inner content? The problem is the sometext could have another tag as in: {a=http://www.google.com}{b}Hello, world{/b}{/a} The only solutions I can come up with would match from {a... to .../b} when I want {a... to .../a} is there a single regexp solution, or would it be best to match the start, and then use another method to find the end from the back up, and grab it out that way? I'm using PHP 5.2 so I have all the options that entails.

• Forumotion profile customization using jQuery based on URL

  The idea is have a jQuery snippet (I like Jquery...I can understand it better then regular javascript) that will detect that when it has been run on a profile with a url such as "http://customize.forum-motion.com/profile.forum?mode=viewprofile&u=1" (just as an example)...then upon detecting that it is a url of a profile...fetch data from a specific (and most likely hidden) element before wrapping that data in css tags and appending it to the heady of the current document. In short I'm trying to figure out how to make a sort of profile customization system where users can create their own css. The biggest problem I am having so far is figuring out how to make it so that the snippet can figure out what URL its being run on. Is there a function that can do this in jQuery at all?

• What's the best way to learn .NET?

  I've been developing Java EE for quite a while now. I've used WebLogic, Tomcat, Spring, and Hibernate extensively, so I have a mental model of what features are available and how things are developed and deployed. The problem that I have with .NET is that I don't have a clear mapping of its features onto Java EE. Here's what I know so far: Java EE - .NET Java - C# JAR - DLL WAR - ? (deployment in general) EAR - ? (deployment in general) Tomcat - IIS web server JSP - ASP? JDBC - ODBC JMS - MSMQ JTA - Microsoft Transaction Manager So much of the functionality that WebLogic handles appears to be dispersed throughout the Windows OS. My confusion kicks in when I see the waves of books at Borders - VB.NET, ASP.NET, C#, etc. If I'm not a VB programmer, would it be possible to stick with C# and write enterprise apps that are the equivalent of what I'm used to with Java EE? If there were a Top Three list of books to learn from, what would they be? • $_GET loading content before head tag instead of in specified div.

  NOT EDITING BELOW BUT THANKS TO SOME REALLY NICE PEOPLE I CAN'T POST AN IMAGE ANYMORE BECAUSE I HAD a 15 Rep but NOW ONLY A 5 becuase my question wasn't what they wanted help with they gave me a neg rep. The problem is that the content loads it displays UNDER the div i placed #CONTENT# inside so the styles are being ignored and it's posting #CONTENT# outside the divs at positions 0,0 any suggestions? Found out whats happening by using "View Source" seems that it's putting all of the #CONTENT#, content that's being loaded in front of the <head> tag.   Hello everyone. I'll cut right to the chase. Right now I am developing a web based application. It has a PHP REST based architecture that serves up XML documents. On many of these documents attributes are hex encoded picture strings. On the client side jQuery AJAX fetches an XML document with a picture in it. I need to display said picture in some <img> tags. However my knowledge on such methods is lacking so here I am asking for help. Goal: JavaScript String variable in hex or base64 HTML displayed image. Cross browser is required, or a hack for the ones that do not support it is fine. Thanks, Gunnar

• Spring MVC + Hibernate encoding problem

  I work on Spring MVC + Hibernate application, use MySQL (ver. 5.0.51a) with the InnoDB engine. The problem appears when I am sending a form with cyrillic characters. As the result, database contains senseless chars in unknown encoding. All the JSP pages, database (+ tables and fields) created using UTF-8. Hibernate config also contains property which sets encoding to UTF-8. I had solved this by creating filter which encodes request content with UTF-8. Exemplary code: … encoding = "UTF-8"; request.setCharacterEncoding(encoding); chain.doFilter(request, response); … But it visibly slows down the app. The interesting thing is that executing insert query directly from the app (i.e. running from Eclipse as Java Application) works perfect. Any suggestions are welcome. TIA, Michael.

  I created a custom taxonomy named 'technologies' but cannot query multiple terms like I can with categories or tags. These querys DO work: query_posts('tag=goldfish,airplanes'); query_posts('technologies=php'); However, neither of the following work correctly: query_posts('technologies=php,sql'); query_posts('technologies=php&technologies=sql'); My objective: Show all posts with a technology of 'php' and all posts with a technology of 'sql' Any ideas? Is this even possible? Thanks!

  So, I have a regex that searches for HTML tags and modifies them slightly. It's working great, but I need to do something special with the last closing HTML tag I find. Not sure of the best way to do this. I'm thinking some sort of reverse reg ex, but haven't found a way to do that. Here's my code so far: $html = "<div id="test"><p style="hello_world">This is a test.</p></div>"; $pattern = array('/<([A-Z][A-Z0-9]*)(\b[^>]*)>/i'); $replace = array('<tag>'); $html = preg_replace($pattern,$replace,$html); // Outputs: <tag><tag>This is a test</p></div> I'd like to replace the last occurance of "" with something special, say for example, "". • Strange padding in Safari when using SVG images

  I thought I was having issues with margins but then on a closer look I found that SVGs are acting funky in Safari 6. I am building a simple Hexagon based website. Of course I used negative vertical margins to for a little overlap to 'inter-lock' the hexagons. And to save space I was using SVG images for the hexagons. It works great in chrome and firefox, but in Safari, there is a strange padding in the SVG images. I'm using simple img tags for the svg images. Everything works when I switch to PNG, but I'd prefer to stick to SVGs. Any insight? Can I perhaps delve into the SVG code and somehow fix the SVG problem in Safari? or is it some sort of bug, that I can do nothing about without browser sniffing?

• Facebook Open Graph Not Showing Object Title

  I'm having conflicting reports for our users that people that share Object Graph objects to their wall, are sometimes showing the Object title and other times not. Specifically, every test I do on my own account shows the Object Title, but on their Mobile apps - it doesn't appear. I've tested the Open Graph debugger.So I have a couple of questions: Is there a length limit on the number of characters? Does Facebook not show the whole Object.title on Mobile? Does Facebook scrap the OG tags and if it can't find them or if it timeout do they not receive them? • HTML5: Can't drag on-the-fly created <div> tag even though draggable='true' Do I need to "BLESS"

  After creating a div on the fly with this markup: $('.circuit').prepend("<div class='component' draggable='true'>TRANSISTOR</div>"); It is NOT draggable itself :( Is jQuery prepend() the correct way to create "live" tags in the DOM? Do I need to somehow bless it a different way to make draggable=true really work? How to I wire it up so that on-the-fly divs can be draggable? AFTER NOTE: I added a static div and that is draggable. INTERESTING: I view both the static and dynamic using FireFox F12 Firebug and they are identical. But one is draggable and one is not!!!
