  • pushd - handling multiple drives from cmd

    I'm trying to figure out how to install some programs where the components reside on two different drives on a networked path. However whenever I use pushd \\xyz\c$ I get a mapped drive which means I cannot use any knowledge of using for example c:\install e:\mycomponents.dll. Is there anyway that I can do this once I have used the pushd command? How can I ensure that I keep the drives the same for example. I'm in the process of installing services. So it seems that when I install the service, I need to keep the path as the same as the actual location of the .exe which means that I'm running into issues. Is there a way to simply use pushd but at the sametime not actually map drives? As when installing services, when I've been using net use, I've found that there is an issue with installing on drives which are mapped, as the service whilst can be installed doesn't find the actual .exe when it comes to starting up the service. So to expand this, is there a way to solve this using net use or pushd or a combination that lets me install a service as such: c:\windows\..\installutil e:\mynode? So to clarify, I need to somehow be able to see both drives on the remote machine by their relative drives i.e. E:\ and C:\ - if I use a mapped drive letter then it means installing service is a pain because I cannot use the path.

  • Working with multiple jQuery libraries and Prototype.

    Ok, i saw some other posts about this sort of thing, but not exactly related. This is not what I want to do, but need to do unfortunately. We have in this order right now Prototype 1.6 jQuery 1.2.6 with noConflict on jQuery with j I need to add jQuery 1.4.2 in that mix as well. It will always be the last one loaded. No option. Is there anyway i can do this currently? I know this is not good, yada, yada, but it has to be done for now unfortunately. Thanks, Derek

  • Performing centralized authorization for multiple applications

    Here's a question that I have been wrestling with for a while. We have a situation wherein we have a number of applications that we have created. These have grown organically over a period of time. All of these applications have permissions code built into them that controls access to various parts of the application depending on whether the currently logged in user has the necessary permissions or not. Alongside these applications is a utility application which allows an administrator to map users to permissions for all applications - the way it works is that every application has code which reads this external database of the said utility application to check if the currently logged in user has the necessary permission or not. Now, the question is this. Should the user-permissions mapping information reside in and be owned by the applications themselves, or is it okay to have this information reside within an external entity/DB (as in this case the utility application's database). Part of me thinks that application permissions are very specific to the application context itself, so shouldn't be separated from the application itself. But I am not sure. Any comments?

    Part of my app has a month-view calendar interface, but I'm having trouble with item selection. The interface is set up so that each of the days in the view contains a ListBox of items, much like the month view in Outlook. The problem I'm experiencing is that I need to maintain a single item selection across all of the ListBoxes. Below is a sample window that should adequately describe my situation. I understand that I can simply name each ListBox, and hook into the SelectionChanged event. I'd prefer to not have to do that with an entire month-view calendar. There has to be a better way. In a previous iteration of the app, I was able to create a SelectionManager static class with an attached property that was used to maintain selection. However, I can't use this now as the classes I'm using for my items are not DependencyObjects, and I'd really prefer not to have to create DependencyObject wrapper classes as this will considerably complicate my architecture.   • How to generate multiple Alter Scripts in SSMS

    I'm using sql server management studio 2008 to try and generate an alter script for each of my stored procedures in order to save the scripts for each revision. I can easily generate an alter script for each individual procedure, but I'm not trying to go through a hundred stored procedures manually. I know that SSMS has an automated generate scripts function under task, but the only options are create, drop and create, and drop. I cant seem to figure out how to enable alter. I've already searched through many SO articles, as well as a little digging in msdn, and I've come up with nothing. I'm hoping that the fine people of stackoverflow will be up to the challenge.   • NHibernate / multiple sessions and nested objects

    We are using NHibernate in a rich client application. It is a pretty open application (the user searches for a dataset or creates a new one, changes the data and saves the data set. We leave the session open, because sometimes we have to lazy load some properties of the object (nested object structure). This means one big problem if we leave the session open, the db (MySQL) closes the connection and we are not able to find this out and it throws an exception (socket communication error) when accessing the database (we are thinking about testing the db connection before accessing the object - but this is not really optimal neither, the other option would be to set back the timeout of the db connection , but this just doesn't seem to well). So - is it possible to reconnect the session to a new database connection ? Another problem is it possible to get an object from one session and then re-attach it to another session ? (I often hear that session.lock should work for this - but this doesn't work so well in our application - so I ended up getting a "fresh" object from the session and copy the data over manually - which is a little bit cumbersome) Any ideas for this ?

    In the project that I'm working on, we are using SVN with 'Stable Trunk' strategy. What that means is that for each bug that is found, QA opens a bug ticket and assigns it to a developer. Then, a developer fixes that bug and checks it in a branch (off trunk, let's call this the bug branch) and that branch will only contain fixes for that particular bug ticket When we decided to do a release, for each bug fixes that we want to release to the customer, a developer will merge all the fixes from several bug branch to trunk and proceed with the normal QA cycle. The problem is that we use trunk as the codebase for our CI job (Hudson, specifically), and therefore, for all commits to the bug branch, it will miss the daily build until it gets merged to trunk when we decided to release the new version of the software. Obviously, that defeats the purpose of having CI. What is the proper way to fix this issue?

    I'm trying to append more than one Google Map to a page. But it seems like I'm having some trouble. I tried to append it to all of the id's in other ways but with the same results. So what would you suggest me to do to make it work as I would expect it, append the map to each of the id's ?

    This one seems to be a simple problem, but I can't make it work in a single select or nested select. Retrieve the authors and (if any) advisers of a paper (article) into one row. I order to explain the problem, here are the two data tables (pseudo) papers (id, title, c_year) persons (id, firstname, lastname) plus a link table w/one extra attribute (pseudo): paper_person_roles( paper_id person_id act_role ENUM ('AUTHOR', 'ADVISER') ) This is basically a list of written papers (table: papers) and a list of staff and/or students (table: persons) An article my have (1,N) authors. An article may have (0,N) advisers. A person can be in 'AUTHOR' or 'ADVISER' role (but not at the same time). The application eventually puts out table rows containing the following entries: TH: || Paper_ID | Author(s) | Title | Adviser(s) | TD: || 21334 |John Doe, Jeff Tucker|Why the moon looks yellow|Brown, Rayleigh| ... My first approach was like: select/extract a full list of articles into the application, eg.SELECT q.id, q.title FROM papers AS q ORDER BY q.c_year and save the results of the query into an array (in the application). After this step, loop over the array of the returned information and retrieve authors and advisers (if any), via prepared statement (? is the paper's id) from the link table like:APPLICATION_LOOP(paper_ids in array) SELECT p.lastname, p.firstname, r.act_role FROM persons AS p, paper_person_roles AS r WHERE p.id=r.person_id AND r.paper_id = ? # The application does further processing from here (pseudo): foreach record from resulting records if record.act_role eq 'AUTHOR' then join to author_column if record.act_role eq 'ADVISER' then join to avdiser_column end print id, author_column, title, adviser_column APPLICATION_LOOP This works so far and gives the desired output. Would it make sense to put the computation back into the DB? I'm not very proficient in nontrivial SQL and can't find a solution with a single (combined or nested) select call. I tried sth. like SELECT q.title (CONCAT_WS(' ', (SELECT p.firstname, p.lastname AS aunames FROM persons AS p, paper_person_roles AS r WHERE q.id=r.paper_id AND r.act_role='AUTHOR') ) ) AS aulist FROM papers AS q, persons AS p, paper_person_roles AS r in several variations, but no luck ...   • Scala : cleanest way to recursively parse files checking for multiple strings

    Hi All, I want to write a Scala script to recursively process all files in a directory. For each file I'd like to see if there are any cases where a string occurs at line X and line X - 2. If a case like that occurs I'd like to stop processing that file, and add that filename to a map of filenames to occurrence counts.   • AJAX: Problems returning multiple variables

    First off sorry if I'm missing something simple just started working with AJAX today. I have an issue where I'm trying to get information from my database, but different records have different amounts of values. For instance, each record has a "features" column. In the features column I store a string. (ex: Feature1~Feature2~Feature3~Feature4... ) When I'm building the object I take apart the string and store all the features into an array. Some objects can have 1 feature others can have up to whatever. So... how do I return this values back to my ajax function from my php page?   • Click-Once deployment is leaving multiple versions (yes, more than 2)

    I've got a click once application that is leaving all old versions on my disk. It's an internal corporate application that gets frequent updates, so this is a disaster for rapidly inflating our backup size. According to the docs and other SO questions, it is supposed to only leave the current and previous versions on disk. However, each time I deploy the project and upgrade a client, I get another copy of all exe/dll/data files. I'm making no changes whatsoever to the application, just pushing deploy again in Visual Studio. Any ideas? Updates: The problem seems to happen on both Windows 7 and XP. 64 bit windows and 32. I've done a diff of the folders where the version is installed and the following files are different: MyApp.exe.manifest MyApp.exe.cdf-ms MyDll1.cdf-ms MyDll2.cdf-ms No actual executable files are different, nor the MyApp.manifest, MyDll1.manifest, etc.

  • How to detect touchEvent across multiple objects?

    In short: I need to find a way to implement swipe action (touchEvent) for my Calendar just like the default Android Calendar one. I am using GridView to make a calendar for my application. When I touch any date, I launch an activity to display details on that date. My problem is that now I tried to implement swipe to change month/year to display but I dont know a way to do it. I tried to use setOnTouchListener on GridView but it seems like detecting for each grid separately instead of the whole grid as one. Further problem would be that it overridden my onItemClick implementation as well.

  • How to specify multiple values in where with AR query interface in rails3

    Per section 2.2 of rails guide on Active Record query interface here: which seems to indicate that I can pass a string specifying the condition(s), then an array of values that should be substituted at some point while the arel is being built. So I've got a statement that generates my conditions string, which can be a varying number of attributes chained together with either AND or OR between them, and I pass in an array as the second arg to the where method, and I get: ActiveRecord::PreparedStatementInvalid: wrong number of bind variables (1 for 5) which leads me to believe I'm doing this incorrectly. However, I'm not finding anything on how to do it correctly. To restate the problem another way, I need to pass in a string to the where method such as "table.attribute = ? AND table.attribute1 = ? OR table.attribute1 = ?" with an unknown number of these conditions anded or ored together, and then pass something, what I thought would be an array as the second argument that would be used to substitute the values in the first argument conditions string. Is this the correct approach, or, I'm just missing some other huge concept somewhere and I'm coming at this all wrong? I'd think that somehow, this has to be possible, short of just generating a raw sql string.

    I'm working on a menu system that takes a url and then queries the db to build the menu. So for a url like: http://example.com/folder1/folder2/filename Alias would potentially = "filename", "folder1", "folder2" Parent = the node_id of the parent folder. What I know is how to split the url up into an array and check the alias for a match to each part. What I don't know is how to have it then filter by parent whose alias matches "folder2" and whose parent alias matches "folder1". I'm imagining a query like so: select * from menu where alias='filename' and where parent = node_id where alias='folder2' and parent = node_id where alias='folder1' Except I know that the above is wrong. I'm hoping this can be done in a single query. Thanks for any help in advance!

    Hi, I'm storing small interfaces from a range of objects into a single TInterfaceList 'store' with the intention of offering list of specific interface types to the end user, so each interface will expose a 'GetName' function but all other methods are unique to that interface type. For example here are two interfaces: IBase = interface //---------------------------------------- function GetName : string; //---------------------------------------- end; IMeasureTemperature = interface(IBase) //------------------------------------ function MeasureTemperature : double; //---------------------------------------- end; IMeasureHumidity = interface(IBase) //---------------------------------------- function MeasureHumidity: double; //---------------------------------------- end; I put several of these interfaces into a single TInterfaceList and then I'd like to scan the list for a specific interface type (e.g. 'IMeasureTemperature') building another list of pointers to the objects exporting those interfaces. I wish to make no assumptions about the locations of those objects, some may export more than one type of interface. I know I could do this with a class hierarchy using something like: If FList[I] is TMeasureTemperature then .. but I'd like to do something simliar with an interface type, Is this possible?

My document structure looks like this: <html> <head> <script type="text/javascript" src="jQuery.old.js"></script> </head> <body> <script> $("#elem").doSomething(); // use old jQuery </script> <!-------- My plugin begins --------> <script type="text/javascript" src="jQuery.new.js"></script> <script type="text/javascript" src="jQuery.doSomething.js"></script> <script> $().ready(function(){ $("#elem").doSomething(); // use new jQuery }); </script> <div id="elem"></div> <!-------- My plugin ends ----------> <script> $("#elem").doSomething(); // use old jQuery </script> </body> </html> I have googled for this question but found nothing that would look like my case (I need first to load old javascript (in the head) and THEN new (in the body). By the way, in the Firefox looks like old jQuery lib loads and scripts that depends on it works, but script that uses new version, and in IE and Chrome everything is exactly opposite.
