checkbox selected value is lost after coming back to the pagei.e., viewstate value is lost with use

In the left navigation i have a series of check boxes and a grid view in the page body.Grid view results changes based on the check box selection,whenever i click on the links in grid view it goes to the second page and there is a link on the page which takes me back to the first page,but the check box selected value is maintained for the first time only and if we repeat the same process for the second time and i see that the first time selection of the check box is maintained.Here the grid view is placed in update panel and the check box in the left is called using .... AsyncPostBackTrigger ControlID="cphLeftNavigation". I've tried removing the above code referring the cphLeftNavigation and i see the results are coming up correctly and the last selected check box value is being maintained correctly and i want the same functionality to be implemented with/without update panel. Can anyone let me know,what exactly should i change to implement the above mentioned functionality.

interfacing: simplified

i've been doing some research on interfaces and a simple layman's explanation for what it truly is. For some reason people love using overly complex explanations and jargon to explain truly simple concepts (guess it makes them feel big) and i have a gut feeling it's the same in this case. so from what i could grasp, it seems like interfaces are nothing more than a way to reserve method names, their return type if any, and the type and amount of arguments they accept. so when a class implements an interface (or interfaces) it is forced to define the body of each method from the interface(s). Am i on the nose with this one or do i need to keep digging? p.s. i know javascript doesn't have support for interfaces, but i still need to understand the concept because there are quite a few places where it's shown how to emulate to an extent.

I’ve used JavaScript ~2 years ago (just a little), so I don’t really know how to write the exact code. I’ve found something on the internet, but it doesn’t do what I want. I want to have the following: The user can check the RadioButtons. When the user clicks the Button, the JavaScript function should return all the checked radio buttons (I only need to know which RadioButton is checked). Since I know the name of the RadioButtons in my Windows 8 App, I can do the following: var object = WebView.InvokeScript("JavaScriptFunctionNAME", NameOfRadiobutton); So the WebView invokes the script and should get as a return the VALUE of the RadioButton, which is checked. “JavaScriptFunctionNAME” = name of the function in Javascript NameOfRadiobutton = the name of the RadioButton as a parameter (for example “frage1”). Currently I’m returning the value of the radiobutton, which is checked in the RadioGroup “frage1”. How can I check every RadioButton by it’s parameter? Let's say you have two kinds, Message and Contact, related by a db.ListProperty of keys on Message. A user creates a message, adds some contacts as recipients, and emails the message. Later, the user deletes one of the contact entities that was a recipient of the message. Our application should delete the appropriate Contact entity, but we want to preserve the original recipient list for the message that was sent for the user's records. In essence, we want a snapshot of the message entity at the time it was sent. If we naively delete the contact entity, though, we lose snapshot integrity; if not, we are left with an invalid key. How to inline compressed CSS in Rails with assets pipeline

I'm trying to inline CSS into my layout. I'm currently using = Rails.application.assets.find_asset('embedded.css').body.html_safe However, the CSS returned is not compressed. I verified what .digest_path asset file exists, and is properly compressed. I can, of course, write a helper that will check if current on-disk compressed asset file exists for a given asset, and use it. However, I think find_asset actually compiles a CSS asset each time it is called -- not good in production. I hope a cleaner solution exists for this issue.

C/C++ structs are wrapped as Ruby classes, with accessor methods (i.e. "getters" and "setters") for all of the struct members. How to read back and print text with newlines from a Python (Django) string with HTML?

If someone types in a phrase, such as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. (no blank lines between each line, but the text is written on three separate lines) into a text box on a web page, and then presses a button which is then stored in a database via Django, and that string is read back and printed on a page, how can I get it to print on an HTML page with the newlines still in the text? So instead of it being printed back as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. It would print as: I see you driving round town with the girl I love, and I’m like: haiku. I know that if I use: (textarea)soAndSo.body(/textarea), this preserves the newlines that were in the file when the user typed it up originally. How can I get this same effect, but without having to use textarea boxes?

Rails routing issue

Hi I've just started learning rails and been going through some tutorials from learning rails (http://www.buildingwebapps.com/podcasts/79335-putting-the-page-contents-into-the) The tutorials appear to be Rails v2 and I'm on Rails v3 There is a line in the routes file which appears to be causing a problem map.view_page ':name', :controller => 'viewer', :action => 'show' The line works for the front end view i.e. my viewer controller but not for the back end I get the error NoMethodError in Viewer#show I think this has something to do with the view I am using and the line <%= @page.body %> I know it's difficult without the full code but if anyone can help that would be awesome

Hi there, I am working on an iPhone version of a website, and I am using jQuery .animate() with the scrollTop attribute to scroll to different sections of the page. Something like so: $('html,body').animate({ scrollTop: distance }, 300); On regular web browsers, the scrolling starts from the current window position to the desired position. On the iPhone, the window jumps back to the top of the document before scrolling to the desired position. This is apparently the intended action, but the pages just don't look good with all that movement. Alternatively, on Google.com for the iPhone, when the autosuggest is activated, there is a nice simple scroll to show the autosuggest options below the search box. That's what I'd like to do...

I have to get response text from a resourceindex page as JSON object. When I dont put a Accept header in the request, it shows me the xml response (i see it in an alert).. But I want the response as a JSON object.. What should I do. One solution would have been httpRequest.setRequestHeader('Accept', 'application/JSON'); but this gives me a server error :500 Also it says A message body writer for Java type, class ...., and MIME media type, application/octet-stream, was not found Can someone suggest on what to do to overcome this and get the response as JSON?

SSRS 2005 Keep textbox and textfield together when page break occurs

Problem I don't have a details row or anything. I have simply a body and I dragged on textboxes for labeling textfields from my dataset. The problem is when one of the fields has too much data for the current page, it "page-breaks" at the start of the field leaving the textbox (label for the field) behind on the previous page. What I've tried Put the data field and the textbox label a) inside a rectangle - didn't work b) inside a list and the list inside a rectangle - didn't work c) inside a list with keep together property set to TRUE or FALSE - didn't work Question How would I group the textbox and the textfield so that regardless of where the pagebreak happens it includes its label?

I was trying to create a checked radiobutton by using following code in IE7. But it doesn't work. var x = document.createElement(""); var spn=document.createElement("span"); spn.appendChild(x); x.checked=true; document.body.appendChild(spn); I found that I could put x.checked=true after appendChild statement to make it work. I also noticed that when I change "radio" to "checkbox", it can be checked without changing the order of statements. I am really confused by these facts. Am I doing something wrong in the above code?

A web application that uses someone else's mail server?

I'm building a web application, call it http://mywebapp.com, where a user should be able to create a newsletter and email it to everyone in his user account's contact list. So he can check mark all his friends, select an html template, fill in the body content, and send. The only catch to this is that after the user sends the email, the recipient must NOT be allowed to trace the source of the email back to http://mywebapp.com. The reason for this condition is because the user is a "reseller" of my business who wants to appear as if he's an independent business. If liability issues arise due to the reseller's unduly usage, I do not want to be caught up in the legal issues. Hence, I do not want anything about my business or technology to be traceable back to me by newsletter recipients. What's the best way to achieve this?

When resizing the browser I noticed that all the elements get out of place and the website layout gets distorted. This also occurs on with low-resolution. Is this because I have used position:relative;? Maximizing the current window in javascript

Is there a way I can maximize a currently minimized window from Javascript? Here's my situation: I have a series of links that all target the same external window (e.g. "MyNewWindow"). When I click a link, a new window pops up. If I click another link, the page pops up in the same window as expected. If I minimize the "MyNewWindow" popup, I'd like to be able to click another link and have that window maximize. My approach was to put something on the onLoad part of the body so that when the page is refreshed it will automatically "maximize" if it is minimized. Note: Using window.MoveTo() and window.resizeTo() doesnt seem to do the trick (the window stays minimized). Thanks!

Vertically center CSS techniques don't work in Chrome

I've gone through stackoverflow questions and a whole bunch of articles on vertically centering text like the following: http://blog.themeforest.net/tutorials/vertical-centering-with-css/ None of the techniques seem to work with the latest version of Chrome. Is that just the nature of Chrome? My text just always appears at the top. It seems that whenever I use 50% or 100% as values for CSS's height or top, nothing happens. I just need a single line of text vertically centered. line-height isn't helpful because I want it centered in the middle of the browser window... I don't know how tall the browser window is going to be. UPDATE: The problem is apparently Foundation 4. Once I delete the following everything works as expected: <link href="/assets/foundation_and_overrides.css?body=1" media="screen" rel="stylesheet" /> Any idea on how to make it work with Foundation 4?
