• Cross Domain Post - Losing POST Data

  I have 2 servers, both running R2 / IIS7 / ASP Classic sites (can't get around any of that) Server A is making the follow calls: Dim objXMLHTTP, xml Set xml = Server.CreateObject("Msxml2.ServerXmlHTTP.6.0") xml.Open "POST", templateName, false xml.setRequestHeader "Content-Type", "application/xml" xml.Send variables Where the templateName is the URL of Server B (It's an email template) ... and variables are a name value pair string like a query string password=myPassword&customerEmail=Dear+Bob,.... Server B receives the POST but all the POST data (password=myPassword&customerEmail=Dear+Bob,....) is missing from the POST password = Request.Form("templatePassword") customerEmail = Request.Form("RackAttackCustomerEmail") The above values are all empty. Here's the kicker. This all worked on our old servers (Windows Server 2003, IIS 6) But when we migrated over, this stopped working correctly. My question is: What would cause the POST data to be dropped in IIS 7 when it all worked in IIS 6? I've done about 3 days of research into this trying many different things and nothing has worked. The POST data is just gone.

• IIS7 Modules - managed or native?

  Hi all, as the old ISAPI filters are going to die sooner or later, I want to rewrite an old ISAPI filter that was used in IIS 6 into a module for use in IIS 7. The module will be used globally, meaning it will be used within each site, on a Windows Server 2008 R2 with IIS 7.5 installed, that will host several thousand web sites and managing about 50 application pools. My question now is if I should write that module in managed or unmanaged code? One of my concerns regarding managed code is the massive memory consumption due to the .NET framework overhead. I don't know how this would effect the server's performance. I already wrote modules in managed as well as in unmanaged code. So this is not the bothering my decision. But I would prefer to write the module in C# if there are no huge drawbacks. Any suggestions about that issue?

• Cannot connect to local database.

  Hi, I have apache and mysql set up on my local machine (Mac). Whenever I go to any of my local sites I get the "Error establishing a database connection" whenever anything mySql related happens. It was working perfectly yesterday, but when I started my computer today it is not. I can login to mysql on the terminal and that all works fine, I can view database and run queries in the terminal. Look at all my table etc. I've tried restarting apache. Anyone know what's up? This is worrying.

• Multiple complete HTTP requests stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state

  I have a Java and Tomcat-based server application which initiates many outbound HTTP requests to other web sites. We use Jakarta's HTTP Core/Client libraries, very latest versions. The server locks up at some point since all its worker threads are stuck trying to close completed HTTP connections. Using 'lsof' reveals a bunch of sockets stuck in TCP CLOSE_WAIT state. This doesn't happen for all, or even most connections. In fact, I saw it before and resolved it by making sure to set the Connection: Close response header. So that makes me think it may be bad behavior of remote servers. It may have come up again since I moved the app to a totally new service provider -- different OS, network situation. But, I am still at a loss as to what I could do, if anything, to work around this. Some poking around on the internet didn't turn up anything I'm not already doing. Just thought I'd ask if anyone has seen and solved this?

  The Eclipse and Equinox teams have released a new version of Equinox framework which is 3.5.2. I am currently using Equinox 3.5.0 and considering to upgrade to Equinox 3.5.2. • stumped by WSGI module import errors

  Hi, I'm writing a bare bones Python wsgi application and am getting stumped by module import errors. I have a .py file in the current directory which initially failed to import. By adding sys.path.insert(0, '/Users/guhar/Sites/acom') the import of the module worked. But I now try and import a module that I had installed via easy_install and it fails to import. I tried setting sys.path.insert(0, '/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/') which contains the egg file, but to no avail. I would've thought that all packages under "/Library/Python/2.5/site-packages/" would be available to a WSGI application. Does anybody have any pointers?

• PHP calling PostgreSQL function - type issue?

  I have a function in PostgreSQL / plpgsql with the following signature: CREATE OR REPLACE FUNCTION user_login(TEXT, TEXT) RETURNS SETOF _get_session AS $$ ... $$ Where _get_session is a view. The function works fine when calling it from phpPgAdmin, however whan I call it from PHP I get the following error: Warning: pg_query() [function.pg-query]: Query failed: ERROR: type "session_ids" does not exist CONTEXT: compile of PL/pgSQL function "user_login" near line 2 in /home/sites/blah.com/index.php on line 69 The DECLARE section of the function contains the following variables: oldSessionId session_ids := $1; newSessionId session_ids := $2; The domain session_ids DOES exist, and other functions which use the same domain work when called from the same script. The PHP is as follows: $query = "SELECT * FROM $dbschema.user_login('$session_old'::TEXT, '$session'::TEXT)"; $result = pg_query($login, $query); I have also tried this using ::session_ids in place of ::TEXT when calling the function, however I recieve the same error. Help :o(

• Packet Crafting on a Mac

  I think (based on searching the forums), that NetCat is the best option, but wanted to hear if others are preferable. Anyone have good success with a packet-crafting tool (specifically on Mac)? I've tried HPing, but had some issues. I'm looking into NetCat ('nc' on mac) now, but it's not working as I had thought. Basically, I captured some packets that a remote control sends over a wifi network to turn lights on and off (using X10 controllers), and am looking for a way to replay them by crafting a TCP packet from the command line. I used Wireshark to sniff the traffic, so I know the package is: DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10" I'm trying: echo 'DEVICE -sendplc-"C4 DIM 10"' nc 192.168.2.196 6003 but there's no response from the receiving system. • How to maintain tabs when pasting in Vim

  I use the tab key to indent my python code in Vim, but whenever I copy and paste a block Vim replaces every tab with 4 spaces, which raises an IndentationError I tried setting :set paste as suggested in related questions but it makes no difference Other sites suggest pasting 'tabless' code and using the visual editor to re-indent, but this is asking for trouble when it comes to large blocks Are there any settings I can apply to vim to maintain tabs on copy/paste? • Shipping Integration into a Rails App

  I'm working on integrating a shipping solution into a Rails ecommerce app. We're only going to use one shipping provider. So the question is: Fedex or UPS? I'm wondering what Rails developers think about the tech side of this question. What do you think about the APIs, ease of integration, focus on developer's needs between Fedex and UPS? I was leaning towards Fedex, but from looking at the developers resources sections of both sites, it seems that UPS might be more developer friendly. Also, I'm going to be using Shopify's active_shipping gem: http://github.com/Shopify/active_shipping And I also based my app off the Spree Ecommerce solution, but I don't think that's particularly relevant to the question. Spree wrote a wrapper to integrate active_shipping with the Spree system. I gave away all my points, so SO wont' let me post another link in this question.   Hello. What is the maximum number of VirtualHosts Apache can handle on a single machine (I don't mean anything related to load, let's suppose it's irrelevant for the question). And we take only Apache without any proxifying things like nginx. I am asking because on one forum one guy reported that his Apache works unstable with the number of sites more than 400 on a single machine. • How can I create a button with a UIActivityIndicator in my navigation bar with the same style as nor

  All of the examples I've seen on here and other sites involved creating a UIActivityIndicatorView and loading it with something like: self.navigationItem.rightBarButtonItem = [[[UIBarButtonItem alloc] initWithCustomView:myActivityIndicatorView target:nil action:nil] autorelease]; However, that just creates a plain activity indicator in the navigation bar. What I want to do is have a button that looks just like the normal UIBarButtonSystemItem buttons but with an activity indicator instead of one of the default images. I've tried doing initWithImage and initWithTitle with nil images or titles and then adding the activity indicator as a subview, but that doesn't work. Any ideas?

• Create list in existing site collection from a feature

  I have created a feature, a publishing site, in Visual Studio to MOSS - this feature contains a masterpage, some page-templates, some site columns (grouped to match each page-template) and som custom list templates etc. I have also created a site collection, some sites and pages based on my feature. Now I have upgraded the code in my feature - I wanted a ListInstance to be created based on my custom list template. When I have upgraded my SharePoint (using WSPBuilder), the ListInstance and default data are visible if I create a new site collection, but existing site collection does not get the ListInstance and data. Is there anything I can do to update existing site collections to contain the ListInstance when upgrading?

• (C#) graphics.drawImage has a size limit? How to deal with it?

  I am attempting to display a very large graphical representation of some data. I am using a bitmap for persistent storage of the image and e.Graphics.DrawImage(myBitmap, new Point(0,0)) in the onPaint of a PictureBox control on my form. I have noticed (and heard mentioned on other sites) that if my image has a height or width greater than 2^15, I get a Parameter not Valid exception, but I have not found any official documentation of this limit. Is this 2^15 image size limit a definite, official part of Graphics.DrawImage? Are there any simple workarounds to render my entire image onto the form? (Yes, the pictureBox is set to the same size as the image, or bigger. Side question though, should I just be using the onPaint of the form itself instead of a picture box?)

• Automated payment notification with php

  I'm about to integrate automated payments into a site. To date, I've successfully used paypal for a number of projects, but these have always been sites which sell physical goods, meaning I can upload the cart contents, user pays, person physically ships goods. This site is a one off payment to enable extra features on a web app. My current thinking is to go down the paypal IPN route to get a notification back and update the users account based on the successful payment. Question is in two parts: 1 - is there a better / simpler way? (any payment processor considered) 2 - does anyone know of a code library or plug in for php which will speed up my integration? • Javascript/iframe/embed/object question

  OK, so here is my issue. I'm building a system which will allow people to embed lists of links on their pages. When the link is clicked, i'd like to use something like Lightview or Lightwindow to open it up over the whole window, not just in the iframe. I don't have access to the page that the user will be embedding this object into. Everything I've tried so far tells me that I can't open anything over the parent window, since I don't have access to it from the iframe or object, javacript security issue. However, I've seen sites that do that kind of overlay. so it must be possible. If anyone can point me to any resources that could help, that would be great. if it matters, i'm using Ruby on Rails... • Legality, terms of service for performing a web crawl

  I was going to crawl a site for some research I was collecting. But, apparently the terms of service is quite clear on the topic. Is it illegal to now "follow" the terms of service. And what can the site normally do? Here is an example clause in the TOS. Also, what about sites that don't provide this particular clause. Restrictions: "use any robot, spider, site search application, or other automated device, process or means to access, retrieve, scrape, or index the site" It is just research? Edit: "OK, from the standpoint of designing an efficient crawler. Should I provide some form of natural language engine to read terms of service and then abide by them."

• IE 8 Errors for Group Permissions for access

  Hello, The company I work for is about to begin testing for a transition from IE6 to IE8. One of our main concerns is about using permissions to control intranet access to internal sites,etc. This was a problem we encountered during testing for IE7 and scrapped it all together. However, IE6 has more than its foot in the grave, its head is peeking out. Microsoft is only supporting IE6 until 2014 when they also abandon support for Windows XP. IE7 just came up with a box asking for you to enter your credentials. It didn't matter if you had permissions, it always said access denied. We have yet to begin testing but I was hoping someone has encountered this issue as well and may be able to shed some light on the subject.

Professional means, at the first glance nobody can say it is a typical sharepoint site. example :https://www.twynhamschool.com/ I know to add the header icons and images in the master page with much afforts but still not sure how to approach to completely change the site face like professional site using CSS and master pages/site layouts. • send form data as web service in symfony

  I am making a restrictive portal to a WiFi network using symfony, and I want to send a form as web service to other sites that want to use this portal. How should I solve this? I realize I could go the SOAP/WSDL route, but since symfony is already RESTful, it seems to me I could go the RESTful route with considerably less pain and loss of performance. Right now, I have a working form, but I've only made a casual attempt to bring the form to a remote site by using cURL. The form does not work remotely since the routing is not set up correctly (I think). Can someone help me with this? Thanks.

  We've just added Facebook like button to http://www.willyoung.co.uk/global/songs-and-lyrics/releases/the_hits?page=1, however the json returned by facebook is for (;;);{"error":0,"errorSummary":"","errorDescription":"","errorIsWarning":false,"silentError":0,"payload":{"requires_login":false,"success":false,"already_connected":false,"is_admin":false,"show_error":true,"error_info":{"brief":"Website inaccessible","full":"The page at http:\/\/www.willyoung.co.uk\/global\/songs-and-lyrics\/releases\/the_hits could not be reached."}}} It basically says that the website is not accessible. We've implemented this on other sites and it's fine. I'm not really sure where this is coming from. Any ideas?

  I'm facing an issue with file download with IE6-8 in non ssl environment. I've seen a lot of articles about the IE attachment download issue with ssl. As per the articles I tried to set the values of Pragma, Cache-Control headers, but still no luck with it. These are my response headers Cache-Control: private, max-age=5 Date: Tue, 25 May 2010 11:06:02 GMT Pragma: private Content-Length: 40492 Content-Type: application/pdf Content-Disposition: Attachment;Filename="file name.pdf" Server: Apache-Coyote/1.1 I've set the header values after going through some of these sites KB 812935 KB 316431 But these items are related to SSL. I've checked the response body and headers using fiddler, the response body is proper. I'm using window.open(url, "_blank") to download the file, if I change it to window.open(url, "_parent") or change the "Content-Disposition" to 'inline;Filename="file name.pdf"' it works fine. Please help me to solve this problem

• WSS 3.0 navigation structure

  Hi all, I'm a beginner in WSS 3.0 and I'm having some problems with the navigation setup. I can't find any documentation that clearly recommends best practices in this area. I'm trying to create an intranet, custom look and feel, that should have a structure similar to: Company - News - News type 1 - News type 2 - Organogram - ... Employees - Employees 1 - Employees 2 - Employees 2_1 - ... How to properly set this up? Company, News, are sites/subsites? And News type 1 and 2 are pages within a site? I created as described above and in the master page of the main site I added some scripts that will be used by web parts, like jquery. The subsites will have their own master page and will not recognize the scripts, I need to add them there which is annoying. Any recommendations? Or some resource that provides best practices setting up these structures? Thx in advance

• Best way to Fingerprint and Verify html structure.

  Hello there, I just want to know what is your opinion about how to fingerprint/verify html/links structure. The problem I want to solve is: fingerprint for example 10 different sites, html pages. And after some time I want to have possibility to verify them, so is, if site has been changed, links changed, verification fails, othervise verification success. My base Idea is to analyze link structure by splitting it in some way, doing some kind of tree, and from that tree generate some kind of code. But I'm still in brainstorm stage, where I need to discuss this with someone, and know other ideas. So any ideas, algos, and suggestions would be usefull.
