• How do you print from a popup window in javascript?

  I have a .Net application that dynamically creates a small HTML page and pops it up in a new window using the javascript document.open method. Everything with that functionality is working fine. Now I want to add a button to the HTML page that prints the page. I have tried using the following code to no avail: <a href='print.html' onClick='window.print();return false;'> <img src='images/printer.png' height='32px' width='32px'></a> When the button is clicked in the popup window, nothing happens. But when the source code of of this page is saved and loaded in a browser as a separate page, the print button works perfectly. So it would appear that the problem is caused by the fact that the code is in a popup window. Does anyone know a way to fix this problem or any alternatives? EDIT: Other method that I have tried with the same results: <input type='button' onclick='window.print()' value='Print' /> and <a href='javascript:window.print()'> <img src='images/printer.png' height='32px' width='32px'></a>

• Capturing mouse events for specific dom/web elements in QT

  Hi I would like to know if it is possible in QTWebKit to install an event filter or capture events that occur from specific Dom elements. For example, my webview is showing a webpage that has text, images and an edit box, I want to disable the right-clicking and highlighting functionality on the text and images but at the same time when the user right-clicks inside the edit box, I want to display my context menu. I am not sure where should I install my event filter, in QwebView or QwebPage... currently this is what I'm using: MainWindow::MainWindow() { centralWidget = new WebView(this); setCentralWidget(centralWidget); centralWidget->webView->installEventFilter(this); //No mouse events are rising on QWebPage //centralWidget->webView->page()->installEventFilter(this); } As its clear in the code above, when installing an EventFilter on QwebPage, I never receive any QMouseEvents, not by moving clicking or releasing any mouse buttons. While when setting it to filter events from QWebView it works fine. I am really interested with the first part of my question as to how handle Dom elements differently. How can I achieve such goal?   I have identified this call as a bottleneck in a high pressure function. graphics.DrawImage(smallBitmap, x , y); Is there a faster way to blend small semi transparent bitmaps into a larger semi transparent one? Example Usage: XY[] locations = GetLocs(); Bitmap[] bitmaps = GetBmps(); //small images sizes vary approx 30px x 30px using (Bitmap large = new Bitmap(500, 500, PixelFormat.Format32bppPArgb)) using (Graphics largeGraphics = Graphics.FromImage(large)) { for(var i=0; i < largeNumber; i++) { //this is the bottleneck largeGraphics.DrawImage(bitmaps[i], locations[i].x , locations[i].y); } } var done = new MemoryStream(); large.Save(done, ImageFormat.Png); done.Position = 0; return (done); The DrawImage calls take a small 32bppPArgb bitmaps and copies them into a larger bitmap at locations that vary and the small bitmaps might only partially overlap the larger bitmaps visible area. Both images have semi transparent contents that get blended by DrawImage in a way that is important to the output. I've done some testing with BitBlt but not seen significant speed improvement and the alpha blending didn't come out the same in my tests. I'm open to just about any method including a better call to bitblt or unsafe c# code.

• Does Internet Explorer 7 have a CSS parsing issue with the "background-image" property?

  Having CSS layout issues with Internet Explorer 7 (big surprise). Upon using the Developer Tools to inspect the CSS, I discovered that some properties defined in the stylesheet are not appearing in the parsed CSS structure... THEN I saw THIS being shown as the parsed value for the background-image property: background-image : url(/trunk/httpdocs/images/layout/HCBL_Homepage_01.jpg); WIDTH: 1200px; pretty much obliterating the width that was defined property. The actual code in the CSS file for this element: div#header { width: 1200px; height: 100px; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; background-image: url('/trunk/httpdocs/images/layout/HCBL_Homepage_01.jpg'); background-repeat: no-repeat; } If anyone could offer any insight, or provide a link describing this problem (and maybe a workaround...) I would be very appreciative. Also, I am only interested in this from a parsing of the stylesheet and CSS syntax perspective. I am not concerned with rendering and display issues at the moment; I simply want to get IE 7 (and I have a feeling IE 6 will have similar issues) to recognize and parse ALL of the CSS properties that have been defined in the stylesheet. • Image URL not changing in Update panel

  Ok this is probably really simple but I have been staring at it for too long now. I have an AJAX AsyncFileUpload control that when a file is selected I want the Image next to it to change.   I'm resizing some images to the screen resolution of the user; if the aspect ratio is wrong, the image should be cut. • IE bug with TD's tables and whitespace?

  Hi there, I have a page that is using tables, in FF etc it works perfect, but in IE7 it causes issues, its basically where the four corners have a td and and img (its a rounded corner form) .. if i remove the whitespace from the document it fixes the issue.. What actually happens is that it messes up the tables.. it puts a thin white line between the upper tr that holds the 2 corners and the next tr I need to remove the the whitespace between the img and the TD, is there a better work around, as i have lots and not only that if i reformat the document the problem returns.. here is a simple example.. <table width="100%" height="418" border="0" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" bgcolor="#F04A23" style="margin: 0px; padding: 0px"> <tr> <td width="12" align="left" valign="top"> <img src="content/images/corner_left.gif" width="12" height="12" /> </td> as you can see there is white space between img and td... and i remove it so it looks like this <img src="content/images/corner_left.gif" width="12" height="12" /></td> the problem is gone, (notice the td and image are right next to each other) Any ideas, i tried setting all sorts of css, padding 0px, margins 0px etc ... • MsSql Server high Resource Waits and Head Blocker

  Hi I have a MS SQL Server 2008 Standard installation running a database for a webshop. The current size of the database is 2.5 GB. Running on Windows 2008 Standard. Dual Intel Xeon X5355 @ 2.00 GHz. 4 GB RAM. When I open the Activity Monitor, I see that I have a Wait Time (ms/sec) of 5000 in the "Other" category. In the Processes list, all connections from the webshop, the Head Blocker value is 1. I see every day that when I try to access the website, it can take 20-30 secs before it even starts to "work". I know that it is not network latency. (I have a 301 redirect from the same server that is executed instantly). When the first request has been served, it seems as if it's not a sleep anymore and every subsequent request is served instantly with the speed of light. The problem was worse two weeks ago, until I changed every query to include WITH (NOLOCK). But I still experience the problem, and the Wait times in the Activity Monitor is about the same. The largest table (Images) has 32764 rows (448576 KB). Some tables exceed 300000 rows, thought they're much smaller in size than the Images table. I have the default clustered index for every primary key column, only. Any ideas?

• Scaling Image to multiple sizes for Deep Zoom

  Lets assume I have a bitmap with a square aspect and width of 2048 pixels. In order to create a set of files need by Silverlight's DeepZoomImageTileSource I need to scale this bitmap to 1024 then to 512 then to 256 etc down to 1 pixel image. There are two, I suspect naive, approaches:- For each image required scale the original full size image to the required size. However it seems excessive to be scaling the full image to the very small sizes. Having scaled from one level to the next discard the original image and scale each sucessive scaled image as the source of the next smaller image. However I suspect that this would generate images in the 256-64 range with poor fidelity than using option 1. Note unlike with the Deep Zoom Composer this tool is expected to act in an on-demand fashion hence it needs to complete in a reasonable timeframe (tops 30 seconds). On the pluse side I'm only creating a single multiscale image not a pyramid of mutliple high-res images. I am outside my comfort zone here, any graphics experts got any advice? Am I wrong about point 2? Is point 1 reasonably performant and I'm worrying about nothing? Option 3?

I can display the initial image, which is already in the folder, and I can also detect when a new image is saved into the folder but I don't know how to display the new images. • Perl+Image::Magick usage: how to assemble several areas in one image into a new image?

  Hi Everybody, I'm new to ImageMagick and haven't figured out how to assemble several areas into a new image. E.g., I know the "geometry" of words "hello" and "world" respectively in an image, what I need to do is to retrieve the word images and put then into one line image while keep their relative positions. Question1: Suppose I use the perl API, how should I use Composite() or other correct methods to do this? my $geom = sprintf('%dx%x+%d+%d', $word->{width}, $word->{height}, $offsetx, $offsety); $x = $lineimg->Composite($wordimg, $geom); warn "$x" if "$x"; Suppose $lineimg's size is big enough to hold all word images and the geometry has been computed. This code gives out a complain by ImageMagick: Exception 410: composite image required `Image::Magick' @ Magick.xs/XS_Image__Magick_Mogrify/7790 ... Question2: currently I only know how to crop a word image out of the original one and then Clone() method to restore the original image. Is there a way to copy instead of crop a specific area from a image? This way can save the time to copy back and forth the whole image several times. • Managing large binary files with git

  Hi there. I am looking for opinions of how to handle large binary files on which my source code (web application) is dependent. We are currently discussing several alternatives: Copy the binary files by hand. Pro: Not sure. Contra: I am strongly against this, as it increases the likelihood of errors when setting up a new site/migrating the old one. Builds up another hurdle to take. Manage them all with git. Pro: Removes the possibility to 'forget' to copy a important file Contra: Bloats the repository and decreases flexibility to manage the code-base and checkouts/clones/etc will take quite a while. Separate repositories. Pro: Checking out/cloning the source code is fast as ever, and the images are properly archived in their own repository. Contra: Removes the simpleness of having the one and only git repository on the project. Surely introduces some other things I haven't thought about. What are your experiences/thoughts regarding this? Also: Does anybody have experience with multiple git repositories and managing them in one project? Update: The files are images for a program which generates PDFs with those files in it. The files will not change very often(as in years) but are very relevant to a program. The program will not work without the files. Update2: I found a really nice screencast on using git-submodule at GitCasts.

When you select a different element in the listbox, there is a preview image that changes on the left. I thought this was controlled by the node PublishingPreviewImage in the xml of the layout. I have verified that the image exists in that place. It is not working. • jQuery image hover color overlay

  I can't seem to find any examples of this having been done anywhere on the internet before but here is what I am going to attempt to do...I'm trying to go about the cleanest possible way of laying this out. So I have an image gallery where the images are all different sizes. I want to make it so that when you mouseover the image, it turns a shade of orange. Just a simple hover effect. I want to do this without using an image swap, otherwise I'd have to create an orange colored hover-image for each individual gallery image, I'd like this to be a bit more dynamic. My plan is just to position an empty div over the image absolutely with a background color, width and height 100% and opacity: 0.   I met some trouble with a function I have written. In fact I have an array in which I have different custom values. I would like to display the result of that, so here is my function function getAccess($var){ $data=mysql_fetch_array(mysql_query("SELECT * FROM `acces` WHERE `id`='.$var.'")); return $data; } getAccess($_SESSION['id']); $paramAcces = array( 'comptesfinanciers' => array( 'libelle' => 'COMPTES FINANCIERS', 'acces' => $data['comptesfinanciers'], 'lien' => 'financier', 'image' => 'images/finances.png' ) ); I have done a var_dump of $paramAcces which return array(1) { ["comptesfinanciers"]=> array(4) { ["libelle"]=> string(18) "COMPTES FINANCIERS" ["acces"]=> NULL ["lien"]=> string(9) "financier" ["image"]=> string(19) "images/finances.png" } } (that are the ecpected values). • Amazon access key showing in URL for Carrierwave and Fog

  I just switched from storing my images uploaded via Carrierwave locally to using Amazon s3 via the fog gem in my Rails 3.1 app. While images are being added, when I click on an image in my application, the URL is providing my access key and a signature. Here is a sample URL (XXX replaced the string with the info): https://s3.amazonaws.com/bucketname/uploads/photo/image/2/IMG_4842.jpg?AWSAccessKeyId=XXX&Signature=XXX%3D&Expires=1332093418 This is happening in development (localhost:3000) and when I am using heroku for production.
