• IDE to SATA convertor Motherboard Issue

  I bought new motherboard Intel DH67GD which has not IDE interface to attach the DVD writer. It has 2 SATA with 6Gb/s, 3 SATA with 3Gb/s and 1 e-SATA with 3GB/s.(mobo specs link : http://www.intel.in/content/www/us/en/motherboards/desktop-motherboards/desktop-board-dh67gd.html) Can anyone tell me how can i connect my old LG DVD Writer(IDE interface) with Mobo ?? • SSL Certificate Stops Working after Server Reboot on IIS7, W2K8

  We recently upgraded from W2K3/IIS6 to W2K8/IIS7 and have been having problems with our SSL Certificate (Thawte 123 SSL certificate) ceasing to work after rebooting. Initially, the intermediate certificates would stop working and we could repair the problem by reinstalling all of them after the reboot (annoying, but not the end of the world). Unfortunately, this is no longer working. The certificate chain has been doublechecked by several tools and people with decent knowledge but no one has been able to identify the cause of the problem. The bindings in IIS have been checked as well The cert itself is also still valid. NOTE 1: I have seen THIS question which seems to be very similar, but there is no satisfactory answer in that post and it's a year old so not likely to get one any time soon. NOTE 2: I'm asking this on behalf of a co-worker so won't be able to provide instant feedback to any questions/suggestions but I will pass it on. • How to make subdirectory the document root of a web domain or localhost

  I have a subdirectory abc in the document root /var/www/html I want to be able to run any file any_file.html within the subdirectory by typing in the browser: localhost/any_file instead of localhost/abc/any_file.html or my_domain.com/any_file instead of my_domain.com/abc/any_file.html I tried writing in httpd.conf: <Directory "/var/www/html/abc"> RewriteEngine On RewriteBase / RewriteRule %{REQUEST_FILENAME} %{REQUEST_FILENAME}\.html </Directory> But it doesn't work. Options FollowSymLinks is activated in <Directory> so I believe I would not need to write this again. Does anyone knows why and how to solve it? Thanks. • Impossible to boot Ubuntu on a USB stick (OS X Montain Lion)

  I know this has been discussed over and over but I still cannot run Ubuntu on a USB stick. Here's the step I followed: 1. I downloaded Ubuntu 12.10 (ubuntu-12.10-desktop-i386.iso) from http://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop which I renamed 'ubuntu.iso'. I bought my Mac mid-2010, it has an Intel processor. 2. I formated my 16GB USB stick with HFS+ File System following this tutorial: http://www.switchingtomac.com/tutorials/how-to-format-a-drive-or-partition-with-the-hfs-file-system 3. I opened a terminal and typed: hdiutil convert -format UDRW -o ~/Downloads/ubuntu.img ~/Downloads/ubuntu.iso It created ubuntu.iso.dmg 4. I ran 'diskutil list' and identified the device node assigned to the USB. 5. I unmounted it: diskutil unmountDisk /dev/disk2 6. Then, I entered the command: sudo dd if=~/Downloads/ubuntu.img.dmg of=/dev/rdisk2 bs=1m. It seemed to work. A Mac message poped up saying that the system doesn't recognized the disk, I pressed 'ignore'. 7. I ejected the USB using diskutil eject /dev/disk2, then removed the USB. 8. I rebooted the computer, plugged the USB key, pressed ALT.I could see my Macintosh partition and my Windows partition, but couldn't see my USB stick. Any help will be very appreciated :) Victor

  Oracle OpenWorld Shanghai 2013 was held July 22nd – 25th at the International Expo Center in Shanghai, China. The conference drew over 19,000 attendees from 44 countries. In addition, 580 CxOs attended the Executive Edge program, and 430+ partners attended the Oracle Partner Network Exchange. The conference included a number of sessions on Big Data, Business Analytics, Business Intelligence and Enterprise Performance Management delivered by Oracle, our partners and customers.  I had the pleasure to attend the conference and delivered three sessions focused on Oracle’s Hyperion Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) applications. Each of my sessions was well-attended, and in a few cases was standing room only, so there is clearly a lot of interest in the China market in EPM. The EPM and BI demo pods in the DemoGrounds at the conference also received a lot of traffic. In addition to the conference sessions I delivered, I had several meetings with customers and partners in Shanghai.These sessions and meetings I attended made clear the interest that customers in China have in improving their planning, management reporting, financial reporting, and profitability management processes. In fact, with the China Ministry of Finance now standardizing on XBRL for annual reporting across multiple agencies in China, there is a great opportunity here for our disclosure management application. • Looking for a small, light scene graph style abstraction lib for shader based OpenGL

  I'm looking for a 'lean and mean' c/c++ scene graph library for OpenGL that doesn't use any deprecated functionality. It should be cross platform (strictly speaking I just dev on Linux so no love lost if it doesn't work on Windows), and it should be possible to deploy to mobile targets (ie OpenGLES2, and no crazy mandatory dependencies that wouldn't port well to modern mobile frameworks like iOS, Android, etc), with a license that's compatible with closed source software (LGPL or more liberal). Specific nice-to-haves would be: Cameras and Viewers (trackball, fly-by, etc) Object transform hierarchies (if B is a child of A, and you move A, B has the same transform applied to it) Simple animation Scene optimization (frustum culling, use VBOs, minimize state changes, etc) Text I've played around with OpenSceneGraph a lot and it's pretty amazing for fixed function pipeline stuff, but I've had a few of problems using it with the programmable pipeline and after going through their mailing list, it seems several people have had similar issues (going back years). Kitware's VES looks neat (http://www.vtk.org/Wiki/VES), but VES + VTK is pretty heavy. VTK is also typically for analyzing scientific data and I've read that it's not that appropriate for a general use case (not that great at rendering a lot of objects on scene,etc) I'm currently looking at VisualizationLibrary (http://www.visualizationlibrary.org/documentation/pag_gallery.html) which looks like it offers some of the functionality I'd like, but it doesn't explicitly support mobile targets. Other solutions like Ogre, Horde3D, Irrlicht, etc tend to be full on game engines and that's not really what I'm looking for. I'd like some suggestions for other libraries that I may have missed... please note I'm not willing to roll my own solution from scratch.

• Hosting several domains on one server using IIS 7

  I have created several web sites inside IIS7 on my server. All of them use the same ip and port, but different host names. Currently I have set the host name to www.mydomain.com. Now my question is, how do I get my actual domains to target the different sites on my server. Second question. Can I set my host name to only mydomain.com to make sure that all requests to that domain is handeled by the same application? Primarily, I want both www.mydomain.com and mydomain.com to work when the user types the address in their browser.

• Include requested hostname in access_log

  I would like my access_log to list the host name that the client is requesting (e.g. when requesting http://www.example.com/test I should see "www.example.com" in the log). The only thing I have found so far is to use %v in the LogFormat directive, but this only gives "the canonical ServerName of the server serving the request" (as described by Apache at http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.0/mod/mod_log_config.html#formats). This does not help me for requests that use a hostname that is not specified in a ServerName directive. Is there any way to log the requested hostname? Thanks

• Add separate domain name to Wordpress admin area with htaccess

  I have a Wordpress installation in a seperate folder on my server (meaning it is not in the root folder). I have a htaccess rewrite rule that maps Domain A to folder A. Inside folder A is the Wordpress admin folder, let's call it folder A.B. I tried mapping Domain B to folder A.B., but I can't get it to work properly. When you log in to Wordpress via /admin, you get redirected to /wp-login.php (so from folder A.B. to folder A), maybe that is where I get into trouble. So what I would like to do is this: Domain A folder A Domain B folder A.B Note that this is not for security purposes, I just like the idea of www.domainb.com instead of www.domaina.com/wp-admin. Can this be done with Wordpress?

• June 2012 Critical Patch Update for Java SE Released

  Hi, this is Eric Maurice. Oracle just released the June 2012 Critical Patch Update for Java SE.  This Critical Patch Update provides 14 new security fixes across Java SE products.  As discussed in previous blog entries, Critical Patch Updates for Java SE will, for the foreseeable future, continue to be released on a separate schedule than that of other Oracle products due to previous commitments made to Java customers.  12 of the 14 Java SE vulnerabilities fixed in this Critical Patch Update may be remotely exploitable without authentication.  6 of these vulnerabilities have a CVSS Base Score of 10.0.  In accordance with Oracle’s policies, these CVSS 10 scores represent instances where a user running a Java applet or Java Web Start application has administrator privileges (as is typical on Windows XP).  When the user does not run with administrator privileges (typical on the Solaris and Linux operating systems), the corresponding CVSS impact scores for Confidentiality, Integrity, and Availability for these vulnerabilities would be "Partial" instead of "Complete", thus lowering these CVSS Base Scores to 7.5. Due to the high severity of these vulnerabilities, Oracle recommends that customers obtain and apply these security fixes as soon as possible: Developers should download the latest release at http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/downloads/index.html    Java users should download the latest release of JRE at http://java.com, and of course  Windows users can take advantage of the Java Automatic Update to get the latest release. • Shutdown issue on persistent LiveUSB

  A) Downloaded Ubuntu to a Windows 7 temp directory from: http://www.ubuntu.com/download/ubuntu/download (Ubuntu 11.10 - Latest version / 32-bit). The output was a .iso file. B) Created a bootable USB stick using Universal USB Installer: http://www.pendrivelinux.com/universal-usb-installer-easy-as-1-2-3/. Did not select "Persistent file". Result: Tried it in a Dell Latitude D630 Dell laptop: works every time, many startups and shutdowns. C) Repeated B) but with "Persistent file" set. Works once or twice, but then, just locks on the Ubuntu splash screen. E) Downloaded LiveUSB Install from http://live.learnfree.eu/download, which created a file on Windows 7 called live-usb-install-2.3.2.exe. F) Ran the above installer with "Persistent file" to a 4GB ScanDisk (formatted) thumb drive. Result: Worked pretty good for a while. Shutdown and rebooted several times. Changed items like creating a new directories - all worked. Then: Setup an Admin account with a password and no auto login. On next reboot, it required the password and logged in correctly. Tried to shutdown via the top left icon - Shutdown menu option. Key issue: Would not shutdown, but would always go back to the login prompt. Could successfully login. Finally, shutdown (which just put me back to the login window), and hard shutdown with the power switch. Result: On reboot, just locks on the Ubuntu splash screen. Questions (note, very new to Linux): Did I shutdown wrong (I mean prior to the hard power off)? Is the persistence option very unstable, or am I doing something else completely wrong?

• Enabling mod_fcgid results in 403

  I have an EasyPHP 12.1 setup (latest) on Windows 7x64 and I'm trying to enable mod_fcgid for PHP. I have added the following in my httpd.conf Include conf/extra/httpd-vhosts.conf LoadModule fcgid_module modules/mod_fcgid.so FcgidInitialEnv PHPRC "C:\progra~2\EasyPHP-12.1\php\php546x121028092509" AddHandler fcgid-script .php FcgidWrapper "C:\progra~2\EasyPHP-12.1\php\php546x121028092509/php-cgi.exe" .php and Options ExecCGI Indexes FollowSymLinks under <Directory "${path}/www"> I've made sure the paths are all good and set permissions on the entire C:\progra~2\EasyPHP-12.1 and my www root to Everyone - Allow All. Yet I still get 403 on all server(localhost) requests. Along with Apache/2.4.2 (Win32) PHP/5.4.6 mod_fcgid/2.3.7 so I know mod_fcgid is enabled and is causing the 403. Commenting out the above lines from httpd.conf makes it work again but is slower than death (which is why I wanted mod_fcgid). What could I be doing wrong?

• Using a Custom Domain Name In Place of etsy

  I am thinking about creating an online shop at etsy, the one requirement I have is, I want user to see my domain name (www.myname.com), instead of myname.etsy.com. Given that I don't have access to the etsy server, is there thing I can do on my domain redirect( assuming I am using apache), so that whatever request on www.myname.com will be translated to the etsy side? This is so that whoever comes to my website won't see the word etsy in the url. Another particular thing is that I want my custom domain name to show in the web browser location bar when the redirect completes. Is there anyway to do this with apache?

  I'm inside a strict corporate environment. https traffic goes out via an internal proxy (for this example it's 10.10.04.33:8443) that's smart enough to block ssh'ing directly to ssh.glakspod.org:443. I can get out via proxytunnel. I set up an apache2 VirtualHost at ssh.glakspod.org:443 thus: ServerAdmin [email protected] ServerName ssh.glakspod.org <!-- Proxy Section --> <!-- Used in conjunction with ProxyTunnel --> <!-- proxytunnel -q -p 10.10.04.33:8443 -r ssh.glakspod.org:443 -d %host:%port --> ProxyRequests on ProxyVia on AllowCONNECT 22 <Proxy *> Order deny,allow Deny from all Allow from 74.101 </Proxy> So far so good: I hit the Apache proxy with a CONNECT and then PuTTY and my ssh server shake hands and I'm off to the races. There are, however, two problems with this setup: The internal proxy server can sniff my CONNECT request and also see that an SSH handshake is taking place. I want the entire connection between my desktop and ssh.glakspod.org:443 to look like HTTPS traffic no matter how closely the internal proxy inspects it. I can't get the VirtualHost to be a regular https site while proxying. • HTML5 media loading sometimes suspends or aborts: misconfigured Apache?

  Recently, some code that has been working fine for months started to run unexpectedly. That code is just a media files loading JavaScript function, that uses jQuery. It's pretty long, but in essence it is like this: var $audio=$('<audio>'); $audio.on('canplaythrough',function(e){ $audio[0].play(); }); $audio.attr('src','song.ogg'); Basically, the file only loads sometimes, and sometimes stops loading with a suspend or even an abort event. I have uploaded a little testing HTML to http://www.joanbotella.com/tests/loading , where you can see what's happening. You can download the test files from http://www.joanbotella.com/tests/loading/loadingTest.zip for local testing. I have just checked that opening the test index.html file directly into Firefox, and not through my localhost Apache server, makes the audio files perfectly playable. So, I assume, my hosting and I have the Apache server misconfigured for serving media files. My software versions are: Apache 2.2.22-1ubuntu1.7 , Mozilla Firefox 31.0 , Chromium 36.0.1985.125 and jQuery 1.11.0. Can you help me? Thanks in advance!

I host the application (my website) with them and they give me an IP address, right? Users can visit my site by typing in that IP address right? (Of course once I move the index file and create a defauly web folder, etc.) Next step is buying a domain name right? Like www.mysite.com, right? Is this the way it's done, or am I doing it wrong?

I can't change google_page_url for each page. What should I do? This error is appearing only on my sidebar/navigation ad units. Is using google_page_url = document.location; fine?

• How can I setup a group writeable directory?

  $ whoami meder $ cd /var/www $ sudo mkdir html $ sudo groupadd web $ sudo usermod -a -G web meder $ sudo usermod -a -G web medertest $ sudo chown meder:web html $ sudo chmod -R g+rwx html The problem is, anytime I create a new file in /var/www/html even though the group is set to web, it is only writeable by the original user. I was given the advice of setting the umask to be 002 because the default is what causes the problems. But I would have to do this for all users in that group, and as far as I know it would be tedious having all of them modify ~/.bashrc to have umask 002. Even if I can do it myself with a shell command for all of those users, it still seems too tedious. Can anyone offer any advice on having a group writeable directory?

• Resolution changes when using switch

  So, the "real" resolution of my monitor is 1024x768. That's what I'd use on my docked Windows laptop, and what I'd use on my Xubuntu desktop connected directly. When I connect a switch, to switch between the two, however, the ubuntu machine's resolution changes. Everything's still proportional, and it still thinks it's doing 1024x768, but the icons and fonts appear larger. Not 800x600 larger, but still big. When I used Xubuntu Precise, I created an xorg.conf file to set a resolution of 1280x1024 which made it look the way it does without the switch ... as a workaround. When I upgraded to Trusty, I lost this. I tried to re-create it, but doesn't seem to load my file. Ideally, I'd like to correct the original problem, but I'd settle for being able to up the resolution. I searched for a while, and tried to do it, but I'm giving up ... please help me out. • setting up my own name server

  I'm in the process of setting up my own name servers using BIND9, however I want to visualize the name server setup in relation to registrars and other name servers. Say I have a domain www.mydomain.com I setup my 2 name servers: ns1.mydomain.com - 192.168.0.1 ns2.mydomain.com - 192.168.0.2 1) How does the world know that my name servers are now at ns1.mydomain and ns2.mydomain. I read about setting up glue records at my registrar. Could you please elaborate on this, i.e. once i setup these glue records, can I now use my name servers in NS records for any other domain? For e.g. NS records for www.otherdomain.com - ns1.mydomain.com/ns2.mydomain.com 2) Given I setup the glue records as mentioned above, do I "have to" update mydomain.com NS records to point to my name servers? Can I keep mydomain.com NS records pointing to my registrars name servers, however use ns1.mydomain.com/ns2.mydomain.com as name servers for any other domain I own? Thanks
