• Tp_smapi on Thinkpad T440

  I have a Thinkpad T440 with Ubuntu 14.04 (using i3wm). I have had trouble installing tp_smapi. I successfully installed it with dpkg -- can't remember whether I used apt or just downloaded it somewhere -- but I can't load the module. When I use modprobe on tp_smapi, I get this: "modprobe: ERROR: could not insert 'tp_smapi': No such device or address" Note that this is different from the error I get when I mistype the module name. I read somewhere that I might have to rebuild my kernel for it to work, but I'd thought that the kernel I was using (3.13.0-24) had that already set up. Has anyone gotten it to work? I hate how Lenovo manages the batteries!

• Implementing a FSM with ActionScript 2 without using classes?

  I have seen several references of A.I. and FSM, but sadly I still can't understand the point of an FSM in AS2.0. Is it a must to create a class for each state? I have a game-project which also it has an A.I., the A.I. has 3 states: distanceCheck, ChaseTarget, and Hit the target. It's an FPS game and played via mouse. I have created the A.I. successfully, but I want to convert it to FSM method... My first state is CheckDistanceState() and in that function I look for the nearest target and trigger the function ChaseState(), there I insert the Hit() function to destroy the enemy, The 3 functions that I created are being called in AI_cursor.onEnterframe. Is there any chance to implement an FSM without the need to create a class? From what I've read before, you have to create a class. I prefer to write the code on frames in flash and I still don't understand how to have external classes.

I discovered this <?php printf( __('Designed by %s', 'Anyword'), '<a href="http://www.blub.tld" target="_blank">Blub</a>', '' ); ?> I know it shows "Designed by Blub" (Where Blub is linked) But what does the __ mean or why is there a string insert?   after a fresh installation of Ubuntu 10.10 i tried to install build-essential from the Ubuntu installation CD. I put the cd in the cdrom and in the software repositories i checked the box install from cd(Ubuntu 10.10 release Maverick Meerkat). Then i reloaded the software repositories. The synaptic manager then tried to download some repository related files but failed to do so as i didn't have internet connection. Then i open a terminal and wrote "sudo apt-get install build-essential". It prompted me if i want to install build essential y/N. I typed y but the terminal showed some errors and was not installed. I also tried to add the CD in the software repositories. I clicked add and it prompted me to insert a CD while the CD was still inside the cdrom. I clided "ok" then and it showed it could not find any cd. What is wrong ?

• Problem with text deletion in vi editor

  When I am writing C code on the vi editor, I am not able to use the backspace keys or my arrow keys to delete or navigate through lines. Some unexpected special characters occur on the screen that is on middle of my code and I am not able to delete them also. If I use my delete key, the whole code gets deleted. I have tried both insert mode using 'i' and 'a'. I am able to manage this situation for C programming by using the text editors but when I am creating LeX and yacc programs, I find this awkward. Can you please help me with this?

  I want to write a php code to be embedded in drupal7 module. I want to call a procedure which can copy the newly generated data in local mysql database to the remote mysql database. When data is inserted in tables 'A' of my local data base it should be copied to the specific table 'B' of the remote mysql server's database. Table 'A' is on local host.   I just bought an HP DV6 6011tx (link) Laptop... I formated the disk through Windows and prepared for installing Ubuntu... When I insert the live CD, it shows the ubuntu start screen and then everything goes black (no cursor... Just like the screen is switched off (but the system is working)) When i try to install from the USB, it says Live media is not found! Some times it also give a black screen like the CD... Have any idea how to fix this? Thanks

• Ubuntu 13.10 not playing DVD videos

  I installed Ubuntu Gnome 13.10 on my computer yesterday, and everything seems to be working fine so far, except that it isn't reading video or audio CD's and DVD's. At first, I inserted a DVD video, and it played normally for maybe 30-45 seconds before coming up with a "internal read error" or something like that. I was using the Totem player when the problem occurred, so I tried installing the VLC media player. It wouldn't read the disc at all, so I uninstalled the player. Now, the Totem player won't even begin playing the DVD. The player sometimes doesn't even open up when I insert the DVD, and other times it will but says it can't read it. I've tried several different DVD's and CD's with similar results. The computer is recognizing the optical drive, because when I open "Files", it shows the drive and the disc, but can't play it. Previously, I ran Ubuntu 13.04 with the Gnome desktop installed from the software center, and I had no issues. Any help is appreciated!

  My fellow developers and I are at a crossroads in how to go about continuing our auditing of database changes. Most of our applications log changes via INSERT, UPDATE, and DELETE triggers. A few of our newer applications audit at the ORM layer; specifically using Hibernate Envers. While ORM layer auditing provides a much cleaner interface and is much more maintainable, it will not capture any manual database changes that are made. ORM layer auditing also means that our libraries will currently require a dependency on our ORM implementation unless, specifically in our case for example, JPA plans on providing something in the near future. Is there a common paradigm that addresses this?

  Today's little problem is that I am trying to load user controls from my codebehind like so: Dim myControl As UserControl = Page.LoadControl("~\Modules\Content.ascx")              Controls.Add(myControl)  On running the page myControl is no where to be seen. I wonder why that is? Well after a bit of thought the following come to mind... Am I using the correct code to insert the usercontrol? Is there an alternative available? Does the fact that the usercontrol has a page_load method make a difference? Does the fact that the usercontrol is being called from the page_init method make a difference? Do I need to register the control in my aspx page at design time? I'll be looking to answer these questions as the day goes on!

  please help me fix these problems because i really like ubuntu 12.04 and i have replaced my windows 7 ultimate for this everytime i turn on my ideapad it hangs, but when i insert my usb device that i used for the installation and restart my ideapad, it works. How can i open my lenovo without my usb device? my keboard doesn't work. i pressed each key and none of it work. those are the first two problems, i haven't tried the microphone, speaker and webcam yet because I really hate that i can't even type a single letter. please do fix this problem.

Because of the new SSMS shell in SQL 2011 CTP1 the SSMS Tools Pack 1.9.4 doesn't have regions and debug sections functionality for now. The fixed bugs are: A bug that prevented to create insert statements for a database A bug that didn't script commas as decimal points correctly for non US settings. A bug with searching through grid results. A threading bug that sometimes happened when saving Window Content History.   Possible Duplicate: How do I get rid of “U3 System” on my USB drive? SanDisk Cruzer come with a "U3" malware built into them. Its intended for windows, but on Ubuntu it shows up as a "U3 System" CD on the desktop and as /dev/scd1 -> sr1 My question - How do I permanently delete this from the device without windows? I'm aware of the windows program, but I don't have access to any, and in any event, I wouldn't want to insert the stick into a windows box because it automatically installs its malware to any windows box comes into contact with! A friend of mine realized you could delete the cdrom via sudo echo "1" > /sys/class/block/srXXX/device/delete But it will come back if you reboot.

• How to use PostgreSQL on AWS - Ubuntu 11.10

  I'm extremely new to cloud-computing, Linux, and PostgreSQL, so if this is a stupid question, I apologize. I've managed to create an m1.large instance running Ubuntu 11.10, connect via Putty SSH, and install PostgreSQL (sudo apt-get install postgresql), but that is as far as I've gotten. My goal is to run several python web-scraping scripts that I've written on this instance (so as not to eat up all of our bandwidth (smaller company at the moment)) and insert the scraped data into a PostgreSQL table on the instance and later retrieve that data to store on our local server (as I've heard AWS EBS is unreliable and I don't want to take chances). How can I configure PostgreSQL on my AWS instance? How can I access the data from my machine? I currently use PgAdmin3 to manage PosgreSQL on our local server. Can I use this same interface to manage PostgreSQL on my AWS instance? Any suggestions, solutions, links, etc is greatly appreciated. And again, if this is a dumb question, I apologize.
