• C# event or delegate or other solution?

  Looking for some help or programmng ideas or mayeb there is some pattern that would help. Have an application that needs to fire alot of events sequentially, it could up to 100 or more unique events, it will be dynamic depeneding on the situation. Trying to find the best practice for doing this. My main idea right now is to create a list of objects iterate thru them, and fire each event. This seems wrong, or bad practice. Or maybe have one object and pass a list or params into one event? Or am I missing some feature in .NET that i could be using or implementing?

• Create hyperlink in django template of object that has a space

  I am trying to create a dynamic hyperlink that depends on a value passed from a function: {% for item in field_list %} <a href={% url index_view %}{{ item }}/> {{ item }} </a> <br> {% endfor %} The problem is that one of the items in field_list is "Hockey Player". The link for some reason is dropping everything after the space, so it creates the hyperlink on the entire "Hockey Player", but the address is http://126.0.0.1:8000/Hockey How can I get it to go to http://126.0.0.1:8000/Hockey Player/ instead?

• ASP.Net: Finding the cause of OutOfMemoryExpcetions

  I trying to track down the cause of an OutOfMemory for a website. This site has ~12,000 .aspx pages and the last time it crashed I captured a memory dump using adplus. After some investigation I found a lot of heap fragmentation, there are around 100MB of Free blocks which can't be assigned. Digging deeper one of the Large Object Heaps is fragmented and the causes seems to be String interning as described [here][1] Could this be caused by the number of pages in the site? As they are all compiled they sit in memory and by looking at the dump they are interned and PINNED which I think means they stick around for a while. I would find this odd as there are many sites with more pages, but dynamic compilation could account for the growth in memory. What other methods are there for finding the cause of the memory leak?   I'm trying to create a generic list from a specific Type that is retrieved from elsewhere: Type listType; // Passed in to function, could be anything var list = _service.GetAll<listType>(); However I get a build error of: The type or namespace name 'listType' could not be found (are you missing a using directive or an assembly reference?) Is this even possible or am I setting foot onto C# 4 Dynamic territory? As a background: I want to automatically load all lists with data from the repository. The code below get's passed a Form Model whose properties are iterated for any IEnum (where T inherits from DomainEntity). • django: how to interconnect various logical pieces of a webpage

  Hi, everyone. I'm just starting with django, so sorry for a possibly stupid question. Imagine, I have a webpage with 3 logical pieces: content, dynamic menu, banners. It seems ok to me to have a template with something like: {% include "banners.html" %} {% include "menu.html" %} {% include "content.html" %} But then, how do I do it? Every piece has its separate logic in a separate view in its' separate app. How do I trigger execution of all three views and render all three templates? P.S. Is there a sourceforge-like site for django apps where I could take a look at how people are doing stuff in real projects?

• Compact Framework - ListView like control ?

  Hello. I have been playing with Compact Framework lately and i need some advice. I have a collection of items. One of the properties on each item is a string type that holds XML. This XML defines image, font, style etc... Im looking for a control (similar to listView) that would replace listBox control. Im not satisfied with listView control, because it is very limited on items level. The control has to be dynamic enough so that my parser could parse the XML and customise the control. For a start i would like to show an image and perhaps some font styles for each row in the control. Here is a sample what im trying to achieve: Any suggestions?

• StringConverter with StandardValuesSupported and Autocompletion

  I want to develop a StringConverter with standard values, which after attaching it to a PropertyGrid will act like comboBox with autocompletion. The example below will give me a comboBox, but without the autocompletion - user have to expand it and choose manually one of the items. • What features of interpreted languages can a compiled one not have?

  Interpreted languages are usually more high-level and therefore have features as dynamic typing (including creating new variables dynamically without declaration), the infamous eval and many many other features that make a programmer's life easier - but why can't compiled languages have these as well? I don't mean languages like Java that run on a VM, but those that compile to binary like C(++). I'm not going to make a list now but if you are going to ask which features I mean, please look into what PHP, Python, Ruby etc. have to offer. Which common features of interpreted languages can't/don't/do exist in compiled languages? Why?

• WPF MVVM Property Change Animation

  I am looking for a clean way to start an animation that will have dynamic values. Basically I want to do an animation where an element changes width based on the data of another element. Say I have a TextBlock that's Text Property is Binding. When this property changes I want a visual element say a Rectangle for our sake to do a DoubleAnimation changing the width from previous value to the new value. I am trying to stay away from putting code in my view if possible. I've looked into DataTriggers but they seem to require that you know what the value would be such as an Enum. In my case it is just the value changing that needs to trigger a storyboard and the animation would need to start at the current(previous) value and move nicely to the new value. Any ideas. Maybe I just missed a property.

• Cakephp Localization, Cannot Change language when DEFAULT_LANGUAGE is set

  I am confused :) I'm using the p18n component in cakephp found here: http://www.palivoda.eu/2008/04/i18n-in-cakephp-12-database-content-translation-part-2/ This component requires me to set in core.php the following constant: define("DEFAULT_LANGUAGE", 'eng') However when this is set I cannot change the language using: Configure::write('Config.language', 'eng'); At the moment, into my knowledge, the only way to change the locale of my static content is the use of the Configure::write. But for the dynamic content to change through the use of the p28n component I must have the DEFINE_LANGUAGE constant set to a value. This is all very confusing. Any help will be much appreciated.

• Redirects in RoR: Which one to use out of redirect_to and head :moved_permanently?

  Hello, we are making a website that takes a generated incoming link and forwards the user who is clicking on it to another website while saving a record of the action in our DB. I guess it's basically what ad-services like AdSense do. However, what is the best way to redirect the user? I think html-meta-tag-redirects are out of question. So what other options are there? head :moved_permanently, :location => "http://www.domain.com/" This one is a 301-redirect. The next one is a 302: redirect_to "http://www.domain.com" Are there any others? And which is best to use for our case? The links are highly-dynamic and change all the time. We want to make sure we don't violate any existing standards and of course we don't want search-engines to tag us as spammers (which we are not, btw). Thanks!

• Using perl's Regexp::Grammars, how do I make a capture dependent on $MATCH?

  I've got a token like such: <delim2=((?{ $MATCH{delim} }))> and what I want to happen is for delim2 to capture and be set to the value of delim. When I run this, delim2 is set, but the capture is never done. I think this is an error in my reasoning: I'm trying to chain this form: <ALIAS= ( PATTERN )> Match pattern, save match in $MATCH{ALIAS} and this form: (?{ MATCH{delim} }) into something like this <ALIAS= ( (?{MATCH{delim}) )> Matches the value of $MATCH{delim} save to $MATCH{delim2} but this simply doesn't seem valid. I can verify my original token works <delim2=((?{ die $MATCH{delim} }))> will die with the value, and, if I hard code it, I get the right capture and everything works <delim2=(')>? So how do I go about achieving sane results, while having a dynamic pattern?

• Android: scaling a button with a background image.

  I'm probably just being daft but my Google searches are not working out well. I have a bunch of buttons i add in code that all have dynamic text. I've set a background image for each of these buttons since the default greybutton doesn't work well for my application. This works perfectly and when the text size (or content) changes, the button automatically grows to accommodate the expanded text. What doesn't work is that I'd like the button to scale proportionally - i.e. if the background image is round, i'd like it to stay round rather than oval as the button gets bigger. With an imagebutton, there is a property "Adjust view bounds" that does exactly this but I cant put text on an imagebutton. Is there something equivalent for a regular button? or am I going about this wrong? i also tried setting the width of the button in code, but I can't seem to determine the new height (button.getHeight() returns 0)

The plugin takes a static state of the tag UL – and run the plugin on it. which mean that if i move the “currentPageItem” from the first LI tag and give it to the next LI tag – the spasticNav doesn’t run for each object again. it still “remembers” the old state. ( because the .js file run only once at the top of the page ) So what should I add to the code in order to get dynamic “Click” event ? ( without reloading the whole page [ ajax ] ) Does anyone have any ideas about this specific plugin ? Thanks.

• Asp.net Script manager conflicting with button

  Hi there. I'm working on an asp.net app and I have some controls that are created dinamically on the OnInit event. One of that controls is an asp button that has been working fine until now. When I add a ScriptManager to my page, that same button is unnable to postback. It's only working if a take the ScriptManager out. has anything like this ever appened to somebody else? Am I invalidating the page somehow?   In native development, you can produce libraries - .so, .dll etc - that other libraries and programs can share. In Java, you can put your code in a JAR in the classpath and other programs and libraries can use it. So how can you do modular programs in Android? I get the impression from the documentation that each APK is a self-contained island. Can different APKs share code? And how does installation work when you have these external dependencies? Can you specify that you rely on library that is not in your APK and get it installed too? If you can't have 'dynamic linking', can you have 'static linking' by developing your shared code and somehow putting the equiv of a JAR into each APK that requires it?

• HTTP compression - can I configure a client to compress the data sent to a server?

  Hello, I'm using IIS 7 as web server for my application. If I enable dynamic content compression in the server, will this also enable clients to send compressed data to the server, if they can? I mean, my application uses SOAP webservices, and clients usually send large chunks of data to the server. The clients are written in C#/.NET. Is there any kind of configuration I can do in a web reference / serice reference in order to tell them to compress the content before they send it to IIS? And do I have to do any kind of configuration in IIS in order for this to work? Thanks in advance

• C# GridView dynamically built columns with textboxes ontextchanged

  My page is a bulk order form that has many products and various size options. I've got a gridview that has a 3 static columns with labels. There are then some dynamically built columns. Each of the dynamically built columns have a textbox in them. The textbox is for quantity. Trying to either update the server with the quantity entered each time a textbox is changed (possibly ontextchanged event) or loop though each of the rows column by column and gather all the items that have a quantity and process those items and their quantities all at once (via button onclick). If I put the process that builds the GridView behind a if(!Page.IsPostBack) then the when a textchanged event fires the gridview only gets the static fields and the dynamic ones are gone. If I remove the if(!Page.IsPostBack) the process to gather and build the page is too heavy on processing and takes too long to render the page again. Some advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  I want to generate a report from an xml, preferably html. The html here should be dynamic to allow limiting the view based on some user entered values, preferably selecting from a drop down of categories, which inturn is populated from the xml. I also want to have links in the report to more info which is stored in another xml file. I started off with javascript with xslt for display and I'm still long way in acheiving my desires. Are there any other ways to do it?? Any automated Open sources tools, for this, rather than reinventing.
