  • jquery issue, disable on mouseenter queue

    - by jason
    When you mouseenter .li_group class it does a slide down effect on 1 single <li> tag, everything goes smoothly, but during the delay if you take your mouse off and on .li_group it "queues" the effect and slides the li down, delay, slides it down again etc etc... I have tried every way i can think of, even stop(); but it still does it... the reason i use mouseenter instead of hover, is because it works better for ul / li list $(".li_group").live('mouseenter',function(){ var id = "#ec1"; $(id).slideDown(); }).live('mouseleave',function(){ if (jQuery.support.cssFloat==true || getInternetExplorerVersion() > 7) { //ie < 8 endless up/down on close var id = "#ec1"; $(id).delay(5000).slideUp('fast'); } });

  • Seeking to zoom in on an image, slowly, on page load, using Jquery

    - by Heath Waller
Hello, I am looking to give the impression of zooming in from a large image to a detailed area of that image, over time, when the page loads - using javascript (jquery, preferably). I have been given the following flash site as a reference (action happens just after title fades in): http://www.delicatessennyc.com/ Not sure if this is even possible. I know I could switch out the large image for a smaller one - but my boss is hellbent of achieving this flash-type action using javascript. Please note, I've searched the plugins and I've not found anything like what I'm looking for. And I'm so new to this type of coding that cobbling it together from scratch seems daunting. Thank you all so much.

    - by Jonathan Lyon
Hi I finally have this working now but would like to know how I can use JQuery's animate function to make the background image changes fade in nicely when you hover over the list items on the homepage:- http://www.thebalancedbody.ca/ The Code to make this happen so far is:- $("ul#frontpage li#277 a").hover( function () { $('#homepage_container').css('background-image', 'url(http://www.thebalancedbody.ca/wp-content/themes/balancedbody_V1/images/nutrition_background.jpg)'); },function () { $('#homepage_container').css('background-image', 'url(http://www.thebalancedbody.ca/wp-content/themes/balancedbody_V1/images/default_background.jpg)'); } ); $("ul#frontpage li#297 a").hover( function () { $('#homepage_container').css('background-image', 'url(http://www.thebalancedbody.ca/wp-content/themes/balancedbody_V1/images/vibration_training.jpg)'); },function () { $('#homepage_container').css('background-image', 'url(http://www.thebalancedbody.ca/wp-content/themes/balancedbody_V1/images/default_background.jpg)'); } ); etc etc How would I add the ANIMATE function to this please - thanks!!! • ASP.NET Repeater Causing JQuery Image Slider

    - by Bry4n
I have a jquery Image slider in a content page that worked fine. Once I converted it into a asp repeater the first image of the repeater would display twice, then run normally. Any idea on why the repeater is causing this? I think I discovered that the first image link <ItemTemplate> <a href='<%#Eval("Url")%>'> <img src='<%#Eval("Image")%>' alt="Spring Break 2011" rel='<h3><%#Eval("Title")%></h3><%#Eval("Caption")%>'/></a> </ItemTemplate> I have to place class="show" in the first item only. Does anyone know how to implement this during the first time it goes through. Hmm

  • Simple Custom rule for Jquery validator

    - by thatweblook
Hi, I read your reply regarding the jQuery validator where you outline a method to check a username against a value in a database. Ive tried implementing this method but no matter what is returned from the PHP file I always get the message that the username is already taken. Here is ths custom method... $.validator.addMethod("uniqueUserName", function(value, element) { $.ajax({ type: "POST", url: "php/get_save_status.php", data: "checkUsername="+value, dataType:"html", success: function(msg) { // if the user exists, it returns a string "true" if(msg == "true") return false; // already exists return true; // username is free to use } })}, "Username is Already Taken"); And here is the validate code... username: { required: true, uniqueUserName: true }, Is there a specific way i am supposed to return the message from php. Thanks A

  • [Google Maps] Trouble with invalid argument when switching jQueryUI based tabs

    - by Chad
Here's a page with the issue To reproduce the error, using IE - click the directions tab, then any of the others. What I'm trying to do is this: On page load, do nothing really. However, when the directions tab loads - setup the map. Like so: $('#tabs').bind('tabsshow', function(event, ui) { if (ui.panel.id == "tabs-5") { // get map for directions var dirMap = new GMap2($("div#dirMap").get(0)); dirMap.setCenter(new GLatLng(35.79648921414565,139.40663874149323), 12); dirMap.enableScrollWheelZoom(); dirMap.addControl(new PanoMapTypeControl()); geocoder = new GClientGeocoder(); $("#dirMap").resizable({ stop: function() { dirMap.checkResize(); } }); // clear dirText $("div#dirMapText").html(""); dirMap.clearOverlays(); var polygon = new GPolygon([new GLatLng(35.724496338474104,139.3444061279297),new GLatLng(35.74748750802863,139.3363380432129),new GLatLng(35.75765724051559,139.34303283691406),new GLatLng(35.76545779822543,139.3418312072754),new GLatLng(35.767547103447725,139.3476676940918),new GLatLng(35.75835374997911,139.34955596923828),new GLatLng(35.755149755962755,139.3567657470703),new GLatLng(35.74679090345495,139.35796737670898),new GLatLng(35.74762682821177,139.36294555664062),new GLatLng(35.744422402303826,139.36346054077148),new GLatLng(35.74860206266584,139.36946868896484),new GLatLng(35.735644401200986,139.36843872070312),new GLatLng(35.73843117306677,139.36174392700195),new GLatLng(35.73592308277646,139.3531608581543),new GLatLng(35.72686543236113,139.35298919677734),new GLatLng(35.724496338474104,139.3444061279297)], "#f33f00", 5, 1, "#ff0000", 0.2);dirMap.addOverlay(polygon); // load directions directions = new GDirections(dirMap, $("div#dirMapText").get(0)); directions.load("from: [email protected],139.37083393335342 to: Ruby [email protected],139.40663874149323"); } }); What the heck is causing the error? The IE javascript debugger claims the error lies in main.js, line 139 character 28. (the google maps api file). Which is this line: function zf(a,b){a=a.style;a.width=b.getWidthString();a.height=b.getHeightString()} Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • jQuery event to trigger action when a div is made visible

    - by frankadelic
I'm using jQuery in my site and I would like to trigger certain actions when a certain div is made visible. Is it possible to attach some sort of "isvisible" event handler to arbitrary divs and have certain code run when they the div is made visible? I would like something like the following pseudocode: $(function() { $('#contentDiv').isvisible(function() { alert("do something"); }); }); The alert("do something") code should not fire until the contentDiv is actually made visible. Thanks.

  • Convert json to a string using jquery

    - by becomingGuru
I have a nested json. I want to post it as a form input value. But, seems like jquery puts "Object object" string into the value. It seems easier to pass around the string and convert into the native form I need, than dealing with json as I don't need to change anything once it is generated. What is the simplest way to convert a json var json = { "firstName": "John", "lastName": "Smith", "age": 25, "address": { "streetAddress": "21 2nd Street", "city": "New York", "state": "NY", "postalCode": "10021" }, "phoneNumber": [ { "type": "home", "number": "212 555-1234" }, { "type": "fax", "number": "646 555-4567" } ], "newSubscription": false, "companyName": null }; into its string form? var json = '{ "firstName": "John", "lastName": "Smith", "age": 25, "address": { "streetAddress": "21 2nd Street", "city": "New York", "state": "NY", "postalCode": "10021" }, "phoneNumber": [ { "type": "home", "number": "212 555-1234" }, { "type": "fax", "number": "646 555-4567" } ], "newSubscription": false, "companyName": null }' Following doesn't do what I need: Json.stringify()

  • PHP / jQuery page change transition

    - by Tim
Hey all Basically I want to replicate the page changing effect found here, at http://timvandamme.com/ But instead of using #values I want to use PHP includes, mainly because I want the site to be as uber-seo-friendly as possible... but still have this nice effect. So is there a way of doing this? I have a main index file which includes other php files in the centre using the usual 'GET' method, so my pages look like: "index.php?page=about" In my jQuery code I want to have a declaration where if I click the navigation, the content scrolls up, then once the relevant PHP file has loaded, have the content scroll back down and show the new page content (whilst also of navigated to the new page in the address bar, so if the user clicks the back button in their browser, they return to the previous page). I know how to code the scrolling bits, it's just literally the ajax loading includes / page navigation parts I'm struggling to work out :\ Any help would be MUCH appreciated!!! Thanks in advance. Tim

  • Extract form variable in AJAX response using jquery

    - by Jake
All, I have a Jquery ajax request calling out a URL. The ajax response I receive is an HTML form with one hidden variable in it. As soon as my ajax request is successful, I would like to retrieve the value of the hidden variabl. How do I do that? Example: html_response for the AJAX call is : <html><head></head><body><form name="frmValues"><input type="hidden" name="priceValue" value="100"></form></body></html> $.ajax({ type: 'GET', url: "/abc/xyz/getName?id="+101, cache: false, dataType: "html", success: function(html_response) { //Extract form variable "priceValue" from html_response //Alert the variable data. } }); Thanks

  • JQuery Autocomplete only suggesting first row

    - by Chris McCall
I'm doing research using JQuery's Autocomplete plugin and Google Maps' API. What I have so far is located here. I'm using Asp.net MVC to generate the list of potential address matches (limited to US addresses only) and presenting them as a pipe-delimeted list to Autocomplete, which is supposed to be .spliting them up and suggesting them to the user. The problem I'm having (besides a stubborn IE-only javascript error, which I'll break into another question), is that only the first result is suggested. This page clearly shows two results, yet typing "3118" into the textbox produces only the Galax Dr result. How can I get Automplete to produce both results?

  • Jquery datePicker

    - by Shane
I have slight issue with the jquery datepicker in that it displays ABOVE the target box. This is due to the way my page is set up. I found the issue with CSS in my page via firebug, unfortunately it conflicts with about 20 elements. Next I tried hooking into the "beforeShow event" which works but then after the event fires it just recalculates and puts it where ever it wants. beforeShow: function() { $('#ui-datepicker-div').show(); var offset = $('#ui-datepicker-div').offset(); $('#ui-datepicker-div').css({ top: (offset.top + 222) + 'px' }) } Does anyone else have any ideas how how I can reposition this? I just need to move it down by about 200 odd pixels.

  • JQuery .html() method and external scripts

    - by Marco
Hi, i'm loading, using the JQuery ajax() method, an external page with both html and javascript code: <script type="text/javascript" src="myfile.js"></script> <p>This is some HTML</p> <script type="text/javascript"> alert("This is inline JS"); </script> and setting the results into a div element, using the html() method. While the html() method properly evaluates the inline JS code, it doesn't download and evaluate the external JS file "myfile.js". Any tip for this issue?

  • jQuery iframe overlay with flash closing issue

    - by Ryan Max
Hello, I have a site that has a jQuery overlay, which contains an iframe, which pulls in another site that has flash in it. One of the buttons in the flash has editable parameters in xml, and I can change where the link points to. I want this button to close the overlay, but I can't quite figure out how to get it to work. I have tried the following: closeSection(); and parent.closeSection(); and window.parent.closeSection(); None of which work. Though the last two come close. They seem to close the flash, as the iframe just goes blank. Can anyone steer me in the right direction?

  • Not all parameters get sent in jquery ajax call

    - by rksprst
I have a strange error where my jquery ajax request doesn't submit all the parameters. $.ajax({ url: "/ajax/doAssignTask", type: 'GET', contentType: "application/json", data: { "just_a_task": just_a_task, "fb_post_date": fb_post_date, "task_fb_postId": task_fb_postId, "sedia_task_guid": sedia_task_guid, "itemGuid": itemGuid, "itemType": itemType, "taskName": taskName, "assignedToUserGuid": assignedToUserGuid, "taskDescription": taskDescription }, success: function(data, status) { //success code }, error: function(xhr, desc, err) { //error code } }); But using firebug (and debugging) I can see that only these variables are posted: assignedToUserGuid itemGuid itemType just_a_task taskDescription taskName It's missing fb_post_date, task_fb_postId, and sedia_task_guid I have no idea what would cause it to post only some items and not others? Anyone know? Data is sent to asp.net controller that returns jsonresult (hence the contentType) Any help is appreciated. Thanks!

  • Posting from JQuery to WCF Service

This operation looks like this: [OperationContract] [WebGet] public string SubmitMessage(string message) { try { // SAVE TO DATABASE return "1"; } catch (Exception ex) { return "0"; } } I want to call this operation from some JQuery. I'm using the approach shown here: $.getJSON( "/services/myService.svc", {message:"some text"}, function (data) { alert("success"); } ); Oddly, the "success" alert is never displayed. In addition, I have set a breakpoint in my WCF service and it is never being tripped. What am I doing wrong? Thank you

  • Not able to close Dialog from parent dialog reference

In the dialog content, I have this: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#cancel").click(function(o) { alert(parent.$('#dialog')); parent.$("#dialog").dialog("close"); o.preventDefault(); }); }); </script> and also tried this: <script type="text/javascript"> $(function() { $("#cancel").click(function(o) { $(this).closest("#dialog").dialog("close"); o.preventDefault(); }); }); </script> <a id="cancel" href="#"><img src="images/cancelBtn.gif" /></a> This code again is the content of my dialog. When the user clicks the hyperlink I'm trying to close the parent dialog (the dialog that this content is in) but it's not doing anything. I know that the alert gets hit and that there is an object for parent.$('#dialog'); so not sure why it won't close the parent dialog

  • Jquery .select function for selecting inside of select menus

    - by Jeff
I have a select menu with two options that are settings for my website. Instead of having a save button, I want it to save to the db when the new value is selected. Right now I have setup a .click function in my jquery file that achieves this purpose for the most part. The only problem is that if you click the drop down arrow (like click down and then back up) it counts that as a click and begins saving to the db. Is there a way I can make it so that it begins saving only when one of the options in the select menu is selected? or maybe even if only a different value is selected? Any help is greatly appreciated! Thanks
