  • Verify my form workflow

    I have a form, with some sensitive info (CC numbers). My work flow is: One page to take all form items Upon submission, values are validated. If all is well, all data is stored in a session variable, and the page reloads and displays this info from the session variable. If everything is ok on the review page, the user clicks submit and the session variable is sent to another form for processing (sending payment). Upon success, the session is destroyed. Upon failure (bad CC number, for example) - the user is sent back to the form, with all of the fields filled in just like before, so that they can check for errors and try again (session is NOT destroyed). Does anyone see anything wrong with this, from a security or best practices stand point? UPDATE I'm thinking I can get rid of a step - storing the info in a session EVER. Just have a one page checkout, no review page... makes sense.

  • ASP.Net Web Site Project vs. Web Application Project

    I'm trying to convince my co-workers to switch from a web site project to a web application project, because I want the use of the project file. However I can't diffuse this argument against: The web site project allows each page to be compiled into a single dll. Their argument is this enables easy fixing of errors found after publishing. This is contrast to how the web application project compiles all code behind into a single dll. Is updating a single page's dll essentially different to updating the entire site's dll? Is there some way to compile each page's code behind into a seperate dll in the web application project? Are there some prohibitive (performance,memory?) costs to compiling each page's code behind into seperate dll's that we are unaware of? Why is the feature(?) to compile each page to separate dlls in web site projects and not web app projects?

  • Delphi form icons are blurry on Windows 7's taskbar (with MainFormOnTaskbar enabled)

    We have a Windows desktop application written in Delphi that works fine on Windows 7, except that the icon of the main form looks blurry in Windows' new taskbar. As long as the application has not been started the icon looks fine (i.e. when it's pinned to the taskbar). Once it has been started Windows uses the icon of the main form (instead of the .exe resource icon) and it's blurry (it looks like a 16x16 version of the icon is scaled up). The icon that we use for the .exe and for the main form are exactly the same and it contains all kinds of resolutions, including 48x48 with alpha blending. My theory is that Delphi ignores/deletes the extra resolutions of the icon when I import the .ico file for the main form in Delphi. Is there a way to prevent/fix this? What's the best way to ensure that an application written in Delphi uses the correct icon resolution in Windows 7's taskbar?

  • Convert Form to UserControl

    I have a 3rd party code library that I'm using; part of this library is a winforms application for editing the configuration files used by this library. I would like to embed their configuration editor app into my application. I have the source code to their library and the configuration editor is (as far as I can tell) a straight forward Winforms app using standard controls. I'm trying to convert the app's main form into a UserControl so that I can host it inside my application which is WPF (WPF's WindowsFormsHost won't host a Form object, I get an exception). I changed the form object to inherit from UserControl instead of Form and fixed all the compiler errors (there weren't many, just property initializations that don't exist on UserControls) but what's happening is my newly converted control is just blank. When I run my test app I don't see any of the controls that make up the original form, just a blank page. Any ideas? I really don't want to have to re-implement their app from scratch, that would suck. Edit: I forgot to mention I'm testing this in a WinForms application, not WPF, to just get the control working before trying to use it from WPF.

    Hi all, I read some paragraphs in a book saying that it is not possible to do a partial postback for web, even AJAX is employed. Ajax will postback everything and update only ajaxfied controls. However, on pages I made using ajax, I used Fiddler to monitor the transportation. I found when the page initial load, it loaded everything include pictures .... However, when I click a button and do a ajax postback. I can only see the some data were loaded.... Looks like it doesn't need to reload the whole page again. I don't know if what I see is correct? Or the book I read is correct? Thank you guys.

Which one do you think is best for starting to do real world coding the fastest? I really think coding from your browser will make programming more accessible to the public. Are there any out there that use a vim style, (e.g. jsvi) in combination with free server side hosting? The last time I looked at Bespin it was a little green. Are there others?

    Say I have a simple client/server scenario with one method: // client code $client = new SoapCLient("service.wsdl"); $result = $client.getPi(); ... // server code function getPi(){ return 3.141; } $server = new SoapServer("service.wsdl"); $server.addFunction("getPi"); $server.handle(); Am I right in thinking that when the client makes a call to the getPi() method the addfunction() gets called everytime? Is this really how PHP SOAP web services work? Or is there some caching going on? Thanks.

    Hello, I'm learning JQuery and am about to write some pages using intensively that library. I just learned that some user disable javascript on their browser (I didn't even know that was possible and/or necessary). Now, here's my question: What happens to my web application if a user disable Javascript? For instance, I'd like to display some screens using Ajax and commands such as 'InsertBefore' to bring in live a DIV that will display the result. So, if Javascript is disabled, I wonder what going to happen to all this work that relies on Javascript? I'm kind of lost. Thanks for helping

By "production ready" I mean : supports objective-relational mapping with caching and declarative desciption (like JPA, Hibernate etc..) controls oriented user interface support - no HTML templates but something like JSF (RichFaces, Icefaces) or GWT, Vaadin, ZK component decomposition and dependency injection (like EJB or Spring) unit and integration testing good IDE support clustering, modularity etc (like Terracota, OSGi etc..) there are successful applications written in it by companies like IBM, Oracle etc (I mean real business applications not Twitter) could have commercial support Is it possible at all in Python world ? Or only choices are : use Python and write everything from the bottom (too expensice) stick to JEE buy .NET stack

    I am an inexperienced programmer , completely new to programming for windows . I am writing a little program that I always wanted . Its being written using C# using .net framework. atleast thats what I think I am doing. All the talk about framework and .nets , windows forms , and win32 api has all got me really confused.. :( anyways I have simple Form object. Form f = new Form() ; f.Text = "" ; f.ControlBox =false ; Now How to remove the all the borders on the form except one sides? As in, the side borders should go , but the top border should stay FormBorderStyle doesn't have anything for this Also how do you people solve such problems yourself , without asking ? look at others code ? read a a book ? any particular website ?     I've built a class that derives from System.Web.UI.WebControl. It basically renders pagination links (same as what you see on top of GridView when enabled) for use above a repeater. I'm creating some anchor tags explicitly inside my nav control obviously, but they don't perform ajax postbacks. My understanding is that ajax requires POSTS to work right? Well, these would be GETs which I think is the problem. Is there a way to achieve what I'm trying to do? Thanks!

  • Uninitialized array offset

    Hey everyone, I am using PHP to create a form with an array of fields. Basically you can add an unlimited number of 'people' to the form and each person has a first name, last name, and phone number. The form requires that you add a phone number for the first person only. If you leave the phone number field blank on any others, the handler file is supposed to be programmed to use the phone number from the first person. So, my fields are: person[] - a hidden field with a value that is this person's primary key. fname[] - an input field lname[] - an input field phone[] - an input field My form handler looks like this: $people = $_POST['person'] $counter = 0; foreach($people as $person): if($phone[$counter] == '') { // use $phone[0]'s phone number } else { // use $phone[$counter] number } $counter = $counter + 1; endforeach; PHP doesn't like this though, it is throwing me an Notice: Uninitialized string offset error. I debugged it by running the is_array function on people, fname, lname, and phone and it returns true to being an array. I can also manually echo out $phone[2], etc. and get the correct value. I've also ran is_int on the $counter variable and it returned true, so I'm unsure why this isn't working as intended? Any help would be great!

When I output the $_POST variables in action_save, only 'type' and 'id' show up, all the other fields don't seem to submit their data. What could I be doing wrong?

CForm contains 15 controls that enable users to set basic configuration options for the application. I design these controls to dynamically adjust when users resize CForm. The controls automatically update their size and position on the form as the form is resized. The initial size of the form should be 650 x 700 pixels. If CForm is resized to be smaller then 500 x 600 pixels, the controls will not be displayed correctly. How I must ensure that users cannot resize CForm to be smaller than 500 x 600 pixels..?

    Hi, I use a search button that creates a form dynamically at the server side and returns it with Jquery syntax. After I fill-up the form and click on submit button, there is another .submit() Jquery function that suppose to be called to validate input before data is sent to the server. But, for some reason, this function is never called, and the data is request is sent. Does it mean that I can't use another Jquery call with the answer I got in the first call?

    I have an ASP.Net Page, aspx with its default form. I have a Submit Button for it. Upon clicking, it will post the data to itself. In other words, Button Click Event() from code behind will execute the necessary. After that, I would like to post the same data to another ASp.Net Page, aspx from another domain. So, how can I do it? I tried creating a Form in Button Click Event and a javascript to Submit the Form so that it will post. But the Form is not appearing hence there is already aForm` on the page.
