  Is there a way to copy a part of text of a link which is located on a website in google chrome browser? For instance: If we see a link on a website, and we hover mouse on it, we can click on it, but we can also highlight it if we press left mouse button and drag mouse pointer starting from either the beginning or the end of the link. But what if we have a link -- http://sourceforge.net/ , and we want to copy only the word "forge"? Remember that this is not the same as copying from the address bar in google chrome browser.

• Does your company name in an article title damage Search Engine relevance

  I've been wondering about this for a while but never come across a solid answer. Many websites include their name in all the title tags of their articles. This is often apparent in word-press blogs etc. eg: Tsunami hits Japan and leaves thousands homeless | My Website Name The issue I have is that Search engines strip the stop words out of this sentence to leave the words in which it compares to the body text. So if I want my article to rank well and be relevant, in this case about the terrible Tsunami that has recently struck Japan what is to STOP the MY WEBSITE NAME section of the title de-valuing the relevance of the article. Am I over-worrying? Or should I take this in to consideration? Thanks for advice in advance.

• Clicks counting and crawler bots

  I am currently running a small affiliate-program for Facebook users. We use an auto-poster to publish links to fan pages. Every hit is stored in our database and we have included a 24 hour reload block for the IP-addresses. My problem right now is that the PHP script also stores every hit from all the bots that crawls my website. Now I was thinking to block those bots with the robots.txt of my website but I am afraid that this will have a negative effect on my AdSense ads. Does anybody have an idea for me how to work this out?

• How to properly remove URL's from Google's index?

  On some of our sites, we now have several thousand pages that dilute our website's keyword density. The website is an MVC site with SEO routing. If I submit a new sitemap with say only the 2000 or so pages that we want indexed, even though navigating to the diluting pages still works, will Google re-index the site with only those 2000 pages, dropping the superfluous ones? For example, I want to keep roughly 2000 of the following: www.mysite.com/some-search-term-1/some-good-keywords www.mysite.com/some-search-term-2/some-more-good-keywords And remove several thousand of the following that have already been indexed. www.mysite.com/some-search-term-xx/some-poor-keywords www.mysite.com/some-search-term-xx/some-poor-more-keywords These pages are not actually "removed" as navigating to these URL's still renders a page. Even though there are potentially hundreds of thousands of pages, I only want say 2000 to be re-indexed and retained. The others removed (without having to do these manually). Thanks.

  I want to get client machine ip address in my custom Realm when client attempt to login basically here is detail requirement of project User having role 'Admin' can add new users and assign multiple roles and permission ,and at the same time specify list of ip address and countries to restrict them to access website. All these information i am storing in database. So basically till now i am using shiro default 'authc' filter but now i want ip address of client machine and get country from where request is coming and check it against database and then and then only allow access to website.   So I am playing around with Photoshop and Dreamweaver. I have created a site layout, and have used the slice function on it. Next, I saved as html & images. In Dreamweaver, I open such html file and I fill the page with content, links, etc. I have a website and everything, and I would like to use my newly created html page on it. But, obviously, if I copy & paste the html to my website it won't work because it will lack the images. But two things: I can't find the images, and apparently they are a lot. I am sure I am doing a great mistake regarding the images. Can someone help me?

  I remember reading on the Canonical website around the launch of the Ubuntu One Music store that after revenue was divided between Canonical, 7 digital and the artists involved that all profit or a significant percentage would be donated to a charity. This information has either disappeared from their website or my detective skills have failed me once more. Does anybody happen to understand the break down of revenue generated by the Ubuntu One Music Store or even know where to find this information. Also it would be useful to know which charity benefits from this. (Not that that would impact upon my purchases or send me running to iTunes. ;) Promise)

I mostly found existing changelog on website (the term changelog is pretty used) or explanation on how to manage the release numbers, which I don't care.   Possible Duplicate: How do I set a price for advertising on my website? I recently launched a new developer website, Black Belt Coder. The site is only seeing about 150 visitors per day but, given that it's only been live two months, I feel I'm off to a good start. I'd like to start monetizing the site as soon as possible but consider AdSense and other programs largely a waste of time. I'd like to deal directly with the advertisers but have no idea what to charge. Are there any guidelines for determining advertising rates based on visitors or page views? I don't expect to do PPC. I want to charge a the time period for banner ads, knowing that advertisers will be keeping an eye on the number of clicks.

  Possible Duplicate: Does Google Analytics data affect SEO? We have two subdomains, one for our blog and one for our ecommerce store. The blog serves to bring traffic and the store is how we monetize the site. We have them designed to appear as one large site, but I know google sees them as two sites. Here is how the subdomains look: www.example.com (store) blog.example.com (blog) I believe I can configure analytics to use subdomain tracking as explained here: http://support.google.com/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=55524 But my question is whether this will cause google to see our 2 subdomains as one larger domain for SEO purposes. In other words, is there any relationship to how you configure google analytics and how google indexes and ranks your website(s) and pages?   I want to create a subdomain for a site hosted by Jimdo (a DIY website builder). Jimdo does not allow subdomains however. I am trying to find a workaround where a subdomain is hosted elsewhere but everything else remains as it is. E.g. I use their email service and I want to keep it. The domain is not hosted by Jimdo, but by a host that allows me to edit my zones. It points to the Jimdo NS. I have independent hosting where I have NS information. This is where I want to host my subdomain. My thinking was that I could use ZoneEdit as a "fork" that allows me to keep using my Jimdo page like before and, at the same time, directs a subdomain to another host. Provided this is possible: Question: How do I configure ZoneEdit CNAME or NS records to forward visitors to my website and my email to my Jimdo mail account while pointing a subdomain to another host?

  I have a problem that I want you to help me, I am currently making a website, I am building that website on HTML5 and CSS3 technology, every feature I'd like to use I check it first in "CAN I USE", the technology I use most is box-shadow, and I already made some great things with it but, I have a doubt about the percentage of browser that don't support that technology, the percentage of browser that do not support box-shadow is around 17.12%, and if you see the conclusions (show options = other options = show conclusions) they say that that feature isn't ready yet because they are "Waiting for Opera Mini 5.0-6.0 to expire", I personally think that the best that we can do in order to make people update their browsers is not support older browser, but ... am I right thinking like this? will I have bad consecuences if I don't support older browsers? is worth to work twice just to support older browsers? should I still working with box-shadow?

• Almost Realtime Data and Web application

  I have a computer that is recording 100 different data points into an OPC server. I've written a simple OPC client that can read all of this data. I have a front-end website on a different network that I would like to consume this data. I could easily set the OPC client to send the data to a SQL server and the website could read from it, but that would be a lot of writes. If I wanted the data to be updated every 10 seconds I'd be writing to the database every 10 seconds. (I could probably just serialize the 100 points to get 1 write / 10 seconds but that would also limit my ability to search the data later). This solution wouldn't scale very well. If I had 100 of these computers the situation would quickly grow out of hand. Obviously I am well out of my league here and I have no experience with working with a large amount of data like this. What are my options and what should I research?

  I've been developing the client-side for my web-app in JavaScript. The JavaScript can communicate with my server over REST (HTTP)[JSON, XML, CSV] or RPC (XML, JSON). I'm writing writing this decoupled client in order to use the same code for both my main website and my PhoneGap mobile apps. However recently I've been worrying that writing the website with almost no static content would prevent search-engines (like Google) from indexing my web-page. I was taught about this restriction about 4 years ago, which is why I'm asking here, to see if this restriction is still in-place. Does heavy JavaScript use adversely impact Googleability?

  Possible Duplicate: Why isn't my website in Google search results? I have submitted my website today into Google search using Google Webmasters using sitemaps. The status on the sitemap says OK and it shows that 12 urls have been recognized. I was wondering how long does it take for the link to get indexed, as the indexed url option says "No data available. Please check back soon." I am not sure if it is showing this message due to some error, or everything is fine.

• Disable incognito in chrome or chromium

  I'm addicted to certain websites to the point where it's interfering with my life regularly and sick of it. I want to install website blockers that aren't easy to circumvent. In Chrome, incognito mode is easily accessible with a ctrl-shift-n. That is ridiculous. Whenever I feel an urge to go on an addictive website, it doesn't matter what blockers and regulators I've got installed; three keys can get round them in a second. Simply uninstalling chrome isn't an option either, as it's way too easy to sudo apt-get install it right back. So yes, I want to disable incognito mode completely (and if possible making it totally impossible to get it back). I note that some guy has figured out how to do it on windows with a registry entry: http://wmwood.net/software/incognito-gone-get-rid-of-private-browsing/ If it can be done on windows it can be done on ubuntu!

  I am used to using the Firebug extension "Omnibug" with Firefox to check that Google Analytics Tracking Code is firing on my website. This application works very well and has minimal overhead. I am now testing the website on an iPad and would like to know if there is a way to check that the GATC is firing on the iPad natively? I have spoofed the iPad UA string on Firefox on the desktop and it appears to fire correctly, however i'd like to see it happening on the device itself (if at all possible). I know that Firebug can be installed on an iPhone by means of a bookmarklet, however it is 1) quite buggy and not very user-friendly and 2) it doesn't support Omnibug. How can I check that my GATC is firing on my iPad?

  I had an e-commerce website hosted on http://mydomain.com/beta for more than a year, eventually I decided to move the website to root http://mydomain.com I had done quite a lot of link postings to forums etc, when my site used to be hosted in the sub-dir /beta . Is there any way to do a mod_rewrite by which all the old links that I have posted do not return as broken links since now longer the site is hosted in /beta and is now hosted on the site root. I did read that mod_rewrite can help resolve this issue, but also read about that this has to be done with care. Just a tip that this site is using Friendl URL.

• Is it unwise to blacklist an IP address?

  We have a form on a commercial website which has been abused (but only once or twice) by someone from a particular IP address. A colleague wants to blacklist that IP address from the website. Seems to me that's overkill, and that there's a risk that genuine customers sharing that same IP address would be blacklisted too. I suppose a big part of my question is how many people might be sharing that same IP address and could be affected by our blacklist. I suspect that's a "how long's a piece of string" question but some ballpark answer would be really helpful. We're in the UK if that's significant.

If I search for a framework, I always get wizards to create a website, applet, servlet and what not. But never how to create such a wizard itself. So the question(s) is: What framework should I use to create a web wizard? And what frameworks are there? The wizard will be the visualisation for a BPEL Process deployment on a apache ode.
