  • Powershell Active Directory Account Attribute to a variable

    Sorry for the newbie question. I am using Powershell 3 to get a list of all user accounts. I am trying to generate an output for accounts, either "Enabled" or "Disabled". I am able to get the account status code from active directory using: $rc = $Rech.PropertiesToLoad.Add("userAccountControl"); That will display the correct account status code. When I try to use an if statement on the value, I dont get any result. How do I put this value into a variable to use some logic with it? In the end, my requirements are to have the output to an CSV file that I can send to HR and have them examin it and instead of a code I would like to have it say "Enabled" or "Disabled". Thank you.

    Is there solution using a utility or folder shortcuts that would keep the active desktop wallpaper/background the same in KDE and Gnome/Unity. (Changing the background in one desktop would also change the other desktop's wallpaper) I use both desktops because they both serve me better for different tasks, and i'd like to match LightDM login background for KDE as well. Regardless of that it would just be nice to accomplish this for personal consistency and unity. This is no heart breaker if it's not possible. It's just an extra couple of steps when I want to change my background. note: in KDE I disable ksplash

    Possible Duplicate: Screenshot of active window doesn’t work I am using Ubuntu 12.04 and I am searching for a program that will let me to do screenshot of my menus too. Also, it will be very useful if I am able to "cut" only part of the new screenshot and save it as a new image. At this moment, when a menu is shown (for example I click on my clock and the calendar is shown) the "print screen" button is not working. This happens to with applications launchers menus in the left navigation panel. On windows I am using Gadwin Pro. Is there any alternative on Linux?

    The website(s) design is for a company active in 3 different areas. As an example lets use the following structure: www.example.com [sub1.example.com] [sub2.example.com] [sub3.example.com] sub2.example.com and sub3.example.com are ready to go live but www.example.com really isn't and send a 503 http error code. I would like to know if this situation will affect the traffic and ranking of the subdomains ready to go live? Is it preferable to wait and go live with the main domain? Or there is nothing to "fear" and one doesn't affect the other? Thank you

  • Download a file over an active SSH session

    So I'm SSHed into my Ubuntu server from my Ubuntu desktop. I'm at a certain path and I want to download a file to my local filesystem (preferably the path I was at before I entered the SSH session). I could mount SSH and pull the file across by mouse but what if I was trying to get a root file and logging in by root directly is disallowed? Even if that wasn't the case (it isn't now), surely there must be a simple way of pulling back a file over an active SSH connection. Surely!

In order to properly pass credentials from the client, thru the WCF service back to the SQL back end the domain account used to run the service must be configured in Active Directory with the setting "Trust this user for delegation" (Properties - "Delegation" tab). Using C#, how do I access the settings on this tab in Active Directory. I've spent the last 5 hours trying to track this down on the web and can't seem to find it. I think it is tied to the "Account Options" section on the "Account" tab, which is not what we're looking for but this is the closest I've gotten so far. The justification for all this is: We do not have permission to setup the service in QA or in Production, so along with our written instructions (which are notoriously only followed in partial) I am creating a tool that will audit the setup (WCF and SQL) to determine if the setup is correct. This will allow the person deploying the service to run this utility and verify everything is setup correctly - saving us hours of headaches and reducing downtime during deployment.

  • Jquery – Disable/unbind click on active items, rebind click when inactive

    I have a left-positioned navigation that shows/hides content on the right. Currently, when you click a link, it fades in the corresponding content on the right and adds an active class to that link. My problem is that if you click the active link again, the content on the right keeps on fading in again. I would like to unbind that click while the link is active, and if you click on another navigation link (subsequently removing the class from the previous link and adding it to the current one) rebind the click event to all inactive links. Say I have the following in a config file called menu.php: // Default controller is 'home' and default action is 'index' return array( 'items' => array( 'Home' => '', 'News' => 'news', 'Resources' => 'resources', ), ); I now want to print this out as a menu, which is pretty simple: foreach(Kohana::config('menu.items') as $title => $uri) { echo '<li>' . HTML::anchor($uri, $title) . '</li>'; } However, I want to find the $uri that matches the current controller and action. And if the action is the default one or not. What I want to end up with is that menu item should have id="active-item" if it is the linking to the current controller, but the default action. And id="active-subitem if it is linking to the current controller and the action is not the default one. Hope that made sense... Anyone able to help me out here? Both in how to do this in Kohana 3 and also how it should be done in Kohana 3.   • Unity stuck in 2D mode, Nvidia Quadro graphics "unknown", Nvidia-Current active but not in use

    I've seen this problem reported under several questions, but I haven't been able to resolve any of it so I thought I'd bring it all in under one umbrella. I started a new job and was given a Dell Precision M6400 laptop with Nvidia Quadro FX 2700M graphics card. It had a previous version of Ubuntu on it, but nobody had any passwords for it so I wiped the drive and did a fresh install of 11.10 from scratch. I didn't do any updates during installation, preferring to do them after boot. Updates ran fine and the system works... except Unity is in 2D mode. System Settings - Additional Drivers shows that Nvidia-Current is active but not in use. System Settings - System Info shows Graphics Driver Unknown, Experience Standard Nvidia X Server Settings is installed and working, re-writing the xorg.conf did nothing. /usr/lib/nux/unity_support_test -p OpenGL vendor string: NVIDIA Corporation OpenGL renderer string: Quadro FX 2700M/PCI/SSE2 OpenGL version string: 3.3.0 NVIDIA 285.05.09 Not software rendered: yes Not blacklisted: yes GLX fbconfig: yes GLX texture from pixmap: yes GL npot or rect textures: yes GL vertex program: yes GL fragment program: yes GL vertex buffer object: yes GL framebuffer object: yes GL version is 1.4+: yes Unity 3D supported: yes One suggestion was to do a sudo apt-get --purge remove nvidia* and that resulted in a scrambled screen on boot and a non-bootable installation. Pressing the Delete key on boot allowed me to access the recovery console and do a sudo apt-get install nvidia-current, which brought me back to a working, bootable system. Another suggestion was to edit /etc/default/grub and change the line reading "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash" to read "GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT="quiet splash vmalloc=192MB" thus allocating more video RAM. I did that, followed by a sudo update-grub and a re-boot. No change. Created a brand new standard user and logged on with that account, no change.

  • ext4 jbd2 journaling active even on empty filesystem

    I have been having several issues with my ext4 filesystems that seem to be due to jbd2 journaling. I made a related post here and am rephrasing it with the hope that someone may be able to help. For a minimal example, I start with an empty 8gb USB stick and use gparted to create one ext4 partition. The command used by gparted when creating the ext4 file system is: mkfs.ext4 -j -O extent -L DataTraveler8gb /dev/sde1 I check the filesystem with gparted: e2fsck -f -y -v /dev/sde1 and I mount it: sudo mount /dev/sde1 /media/test The disk is empty, but the journaling is very active on this disk (/dev/sde1). The other disks are ext4 SSDs formatted similarly. A snapshot of iotop: % sudo iotop -oPa Total DISK READ: 0.00 B/s | Total DISK WRITE: 2027.21 K/s PID PRIO USER DISK READ DISK WRITE SWAPIN IO COMMAND 262 be/3 root 0.00 B 56.00 K 0.00 % 0.18 % [jbd2/sda1-8] 29069 be/3 root 0.00 B 0.00 B 0.00 % 0.16 % [jbd2/sde1-8] 891 be/3 root 0.00 B 4.00 K 0.00 % 0.03 % [jbd2/sdc1-8] What is jbd2 doing with /dev/sde1? If I follow the same steps with a larger 2Tb disk, iotop indicates this empty disk is constantly being written to by jbd2 at the rate of Mb/s as soon as I mount it. On the other disks, which have the OS and /home, I have tried to find if any files are being modified by processes to cause this behavior but couldn't find any. I also moved many of the disk intensive process to use a tmpfs. And used noatime. I have another non-SSD hard disk on this machine, /dev/sdb, that is also ext4 but was not formatted by gparted (given to me by a coworker). It does not appear in iotop. So I am assuming there an issue with gparted. Any suggestions are appreciated. Also any tips on how to modify existing partitions to fix the issue without having to start from scratch would be great. There are some posts related to jbd2 but they didn't help (eg. here).

  • Degraded RAID5 and no md superblock on one of remaining drive

    This is actually on a QNAP TS-509 NAS. The RAID is basically a Linux RAID. The NAS was configured with RAID 5 with 5 drives (/md0 with /dev/sd[abcde]3). At some point, /dev/sde failed and drive was replaced. While rebuilding (and not completed), the NAS rebooted itself and /dev/sdc dropped out of the array. Now the array can't start because essentially 2 drives have dropped out. I disconnected /dev/sde and hoped that /md0 can resume in degraded mode, but no luck.. Further investigation shows that /dev/sdc3 has no md superblock. The data should be good since the array was unable to assemble after /dev/sdc dropped off. All the searches I done showed how to reassemble the array assuming 1 bad drive. But I think I just need to restore the superblock on /dev/sdc3 and that should bring the array up to a degraded mode which will allow me to backup data and then proceed with rebuilding with adding /dev/sde.   • Make the Taskbar Buttons Switch to the Last Active Window in Windows 7

    The new Windows 7 taskbar’s Aero Peek feature, with the live thumbnails of every window, is awesome… but sometimes you just want to be able to click the taskbar button and have the last open window show up instead. Here’s a quick hack to make it work better. To better understand the problem, imagine having nine windows of the same type open on your screen, but you are primarily working in just one of the windows at a time. So every time you want to switch back, you have to click the taskbar button, and then choose the one you are using from the list, which can be pretty annoying… Now if you know your Windows 7 shortcuts, you’d know that you can simply hold down the Ctrl key while clicking on the taskbar button, and the last window will show up. In fact, you can keep holding down the Ctrl key and keep clicking, and Windows will cycle through the open windows. It’s a useful shortcut, but hardly something you want to do every single time. Instead, we’ll use a quick registry hack to make the normal click switch to the last open window—if you still want to see the thumbnail list, just hover your mouse over the button for half a second to see the full list. Manual Registry Hack for Last Active Window Open up regedit.exe through the start menu search or run box, and then head down to the following registry key: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced Once you’re there, create a new 32-bit DWORD value on the right hand side, give it the name LastActiveClick, and set the value to 1. Once you are done, it should look something like this: Once you are done, you’ll have to log off and back on, or you can kill Explorer.exe through Task Manager and re-open it. Download the Registry Hack Instead Since you probably don’t feel like registry hacking, we’ve provided you an easy downloadable version.     I want to style the :active state of a button that is represented by an . The tag has an inner (beacuse I want to add an icon to this button). I notice the :active state is triggered properly in everything but Internet Explorer. In IE, it appears that the area around the (the 's padding) triggers that :active state, but when clicking directly on the text within the , the :active state is not triggered. Is there a way to fix this without resorting to Javascript?

    Can a user be a member of multiple Organization Units (OU) in Active Directory ? Also, is there a standard format mentioned by Microsoft on how an OU should be created and what its attributes are ? I found this in Wikipedia "However, Organizational Units are just an abstraction for the administrator, and do not function as true containers; the underlying domain operates as if objects were all created in a simple flat-file structure, without any OUs. It is not possible for example to create two user accounts with an identical username in two separate OUs, such as "fred.staff-ou.domain" and "fred.student-ou.domain"."

  • Active FTP client blocked by Windows Firewall on Windows 7

    I have an application that runs as a service and contains an FTP client. It needs to connect to an FTP server that only supports Active FTP. When I attempt to get a list of files or download a file, Windows Firewall is dropping the incoming connection from the FTP server. (I don't believe we had this problem in Windows XP or Windows Vista.) Active FTP is the protocol that requires the the server to open a connection to the client on a port that the client specified. (http://slacksite.com/other/ftp.html) I know I could open up a large port range in Windows Firewall and force my FTP client to only use those ports, but I would have guessed that Windows Firewall would support Active FTP natively. Is there some setting that needs to be made in order to have Windows Firewall automatically detect Active FTP and open up the necessary ports as needed? Can I change that setting programmatically? Thanks. PS- I asked this question on StackOverflow, but was told I should probably ask here as well.
