  • Need help making site available externally

    - by White Island
I'm trying to open a hole in the firewall (ASA 5505, v8.2) to allow external access to a Web application. Via ASDM (6.3?), I've added the server as a Public Server, which creates a static NAT entry [I'm using the public IP that is assigned to 'dynamic NAT--outgoing' for the LAN, after confirming on the Cisco forums that it wouldn't bring everyone's access crashing down] and an incoming rule "any... public_ip... https... allow" but traffic is still not getting through. When I look at the log viewer, it says it's denied by access-group outside_access_in, implicit rule, which is "any any ip deny" I haven't had much experience with Cisco management. I can't see what I'm missing to allow this connection through, and I'm wondering if there's anything else special I have to add. I tried adding a rule (several variations) within that access-group to allow https to the server, but it never made a difference. Maybe I haven't found the right combination? :P I also made sure the Windows firewall is open on port 443, although I'm pretty sure the current problem is Cisco, because of the logs. :) Any ideas? If you need more information, please let me know. Thanks Edit: First of all, I had this backward. (Sorry) Traffic is being blocked by access-group "inside_access_out" which is what confused me in the first place. I guess I confused myself again in the midst of typing the question. Here, I believe, is the pertinent information. Please let me know what you see wrong. access-list acl_in extended permit tcp any host PUBLIC_IP eq https access-list acl_in extended permit icmp CS_WAN_IPs 255.255.255.240 any access-list acl_in remark Allow Vendor connections to LAN access-list acl_in extended permit tcp host Vendor any object-group RemoteDesktop access-list acl_in remark NetworkScanner scan-to-email incoming (from smtp.mail.microsoftonline.com to PCs) access-list acl_in extended permit object-group TCPUDP any object-group Scan-to-email host NetworkScanner object-group Scan-to-email access-list acl_out extended permit icmp any any access-list acl_out extended permit tcp any any access-list acl_out extended permit udp any any access-list SSLVPNSplitTunnel standard permit LAN_Subnet 255.255.255.0 access-list nonat extended permit ip VPN_Subnet 255.255.255.0 LAN_Subnet 255.255.255.0 access-list nonat extended permit ip LAN_Subnet 255.255.255.0 VPN_Subnet 255.255.255.0 access-list inside_access_out remark NetworkScanner Scan-to-email outgoing (from scanner to Internet) access-list inside_access_out extended permit object-group TCPUDP host NetworkScanner object-group Scan-to-email any object-group Scan-to-email access-list inside_access_out extended permit tcp any interface outside eq https static (inside, outside) PUBLIC_IP LOCAL_IP[server object] netmask 255.255.255.255 I wasn't sure if I needed to reverse that "static" entry, since I got my question mixed up... and also with that last access-list entry, I tried interface inside and outside - neither proved successful... and I wasn't sure about whether it should be www, since the site is running on https. I assumed it should only be https.

  • Macs don't connect to wifi access point but PCs will

    - by Josh
So, as a side project I'm going to try and figure out why the wifi APs in my building exhibit the following behavior: - They typically allow all types of computers to connect without issues - Sometimes Apples can't get an IP address but will still connect to the AP's signal - Less often, PCs can't connect to the wifi (same as above - yes signal, no IP addy) - Don't let Raiders fans on no matter the time of day! My first thought was that the DHCP leases were all taken up when the Apples would try to connect, and it was just their unlucky timing, but I would then try to log on with a PC that had a new, unleased MAC address and it would work... Could this be something to do with interoperability between an apple wifi card, and the APs? Different parts of the DHCP lease being taken up first? The fact that the Seattle Mariners might actually be good this year?? If this hasn't used up everyone's patience (with my crappy sports jokes), something else I could use some help with: - We don't have the model or type of AP - This is because there is no documentation available for them, and they literally look like small white boxes with no writing on them. Also, the company that installed them is out of business, so the situation might be that no docs will ever be on the way. -- Do you guys have any ideas on how to figure out what we have? Thanks as always for all the help, and I'm looking forward to the day when I know enough to start contributing back to the site, Josh

  • Can't access a partion that has a virus on it

    - by vaccano
My wife's computer had a virus alarm go off, so I am looking into it. The virus is supposed to be on the D: drive. I wanted to talk a quick look at the file, but I cannot not. It has one file that I can get to. It is D:\Recovery. That shows a "Protected by PC Angel" graphic. How can I get past this? Should I do it? Is the virus scanner wrong? (I am using Avast).

  • Anonymous exposes sensitive bank emails

    - by martin.abrahams
As expected for quite a while, emails purporting to reveal alleged naughtiness at a major bank have been released today. A bank spokesman says "We are confident that his extravagant assertions are untrue". The BBC report concludes…  “Firms are increasingly concerned about the prospect of disgruntled staff taking caches of sensitive e-mails with them when they leave, said Rami Habal, of security firm Proofpoint. "You can't do anything about people copying the content," he said. But firms can put measures in place, such as revoking encryption keys, which means stolen e-mails become unreadable, he added.” Actually, there is something you can do to guard against copying. While traditional encryption lets authorised recipients make unprotected copies long before you revoke the keys, Oracle IRM provides encryption AND guards against unprotected copies being made. Recipients can be authorised to save protected copies, and cut-and-paste within the scope of a protected workflow or email thread – but can be prevented from saving unprotected copies or pasting to unprotected files and emails.  The IRM audit trail would also help track down attempts to open the protected emails and documents by unauthorised individuals within or beyond your perimeter.

  • haproxy access list using path_dir having issues with firefox

    - by user11243
I'm trying to route all requests containing a path directory of /socket.io/ to a separate port with HAProxy. Here is my config file: global maxconn 4096 # Total Max Connections. This is dependent on ulimit nbproc 2 defaults mode http frontend all 0.0.0.0:80 timeout client 86400000 default_backend web_servers acl is_stream path_dir socket.io use_backend stream_servers if is_stream backend web_servers balance roundrobin option forwardfor # This sets X-Forwarded-For timeout server 30000 timeout connect 4000 server web1 127.0.0.1:4000 weight 1 maxconn 1024 check backend stream_servers balance roundrobin option forwardfor # This sets X-Forwarded-For timeout queue 5000 timeout server 86400000 timeout connect 86400000 server stream1 127.0.0.1:5100 weight 1 maxconn 1024 check URL paths with a /socket.io/ get correctly directed to port 5100 in chrome and safari. However not for firefox. I'm running Haproxy locally on my mac for dev, not sure if it has anything to do with it. I'm using haproxy 1.4.8 and Firefox 3.6.15. I've tried clearing cache on firefox and it didn't help, so I'm thinking there's something wrong with the way HAProxy parses through the Firefox request headers.

  • Remote access to Microsoft Dynamics NAV (C/Side) with native non-SQL database

    - by Joannes Vermorel
I am facing a company that have a fairly recent Microsoft Dynamics NAV (C/Side) setup that comes with a non-SQL storage system called the native database server. I would need to be remotely connect to this database, and perform what would equate to SQL queries with very modest needs (no join, no complex filtering). I am rather ignorant of this technology, does someone knows to how make remote queries to this ERP?

  • Games consoles won't connect through the TP-Link TL-WA500G Access Point

    - by Manfred Wolff
I hope that someone can help me. I have several Laptops and other devices, all using my Wireless Router (Sky Digital Netgear) To extend the range to the back of the house, I purchased a TP-Link TL-WA500G Range extender. configured just as a pure repeater, it picks up the signal from the Netgear Router. The Netgear Router does the DHCP, handing out the IP addresses. This all works a treat with several different laptops and my iPone4S, but when my son tries to use his XBox360, Sony Playstation3 or the Nintendo Wii those devices fail to acquire an IP address. They just sit their waiting for the IP config. This also happens with my wife's HTC desire ONE Android phone. My son says that, when his HTC Desire C won't get an IP address, he just unplugs the AP briefly - the phone will connect and he puts the AP back on. Once he is connected to the Router, the AP won't disturb function. The Games Consoles don't seem to work like that. They stop working, when the AP is reconnected. I had my son try to configure permanent IP addresses, and he said that did not work either, though I have to confirm that, as I did not see that for myself. Has anybody seen this before? I have searched the Net and have not found any similar problems anywhere. I wonder if there is setting somewhere that would fix this. Many thanks for anyone reading this and trying to help. M

  • No remote access to PostgreSQL db

  • "Error 5: Access denied" when installing programs with UAC turned off

    - by Aero
I'm having some trouble installing msysgit 1.7.3.1preview on Windows 7 Home Premium. I downloaded the setup file from the Google Code and then ran it. Upon running, I got the following error: I have tried downloading and running different older versions of msysgit with no luck. For the record, I have administrative privileges and there are no other user accounts on this Windows machine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. UPDATE: I have managed to semi-fix this problem. I turned on User Account Control back to the default setting and and then ran the setup file as an administrator. I successfully managed to install Git. However, this means I have to keep UAC turned on whenever I want to install a new program (I realised that it persists over all programs; not just Git). So it's quite a nuisance. If anybody knows how I could keep UAC disabled whilst still being able to install programs without running their setup files as an administrator, I would be eternally grateful. UPDATE: I have changed the question title to better suit the new situation.

  • Restricting access to one controller of an MVC app with Nginx

    - by kgb
I have an MVC app where one controller needs to be accessible only from several ips(this controller is an oauth token callback trap - for google/fb api tokens). My conf looks like this: geo $oauth { default 0; 87.240.156.0/24 1; 87.240.131.0/24 1; } server { listen 80; server_name some.server.name.tld default_server; root /home/user/path; index index.php; location /oauth { deny all; if ($oauth) { rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; } } location / { if ($request_filename !~ "\.(phtml|html|htm|jpg|jpeg|gif|png|ico|css|zip|tgz|gz|rar|bz2|doc|xls|exe|pdf|ppt|txt|tar|mid|midi|wav|bmp|rtf|js|xlsx)$") { rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; break; } } location ~ \.php$ { fastcgi_pass unix:/var/run/php5-fpm.sock; fastcgi_index index.php; include fastcgi_params; } } It works, but does not look right. The following seems logical to me: location /oauth { allow 87.240.156.0/24; deny all; rewrite ^(.*)$ /index.php last; } But this way rewrite happens all the time, allow and deny directives are ignored. I don't understand why...

  • Windows 7 - saved wifi access points disappear from list

    - by KáGé
I'm having a weird issue with Windows 7 x64: I'm moving my notebook between two locations weekly, at each I have a wifi router. They both have hidden SSID-s, which are different. If I save one, the other one gets deleted from the list, as if overwritten, so I always have to retype the SSID and password, if I want to connect after moving my computer. At first I tought the problem was caused by both routers having the same password, but after I changed one (suffixed it with "_2") it persisted. What can I do about this? Thanks.

  • remote desktop access

    - by pnp
I have my work system on the ip range 172.16.xx.yy, and I have my personal system on the ip range 10.0.xx.yy. Both of them, however, are on the same network of my University, but on different LANs/VLANs (i hope i used the right word here). How can I remotely connect to my work system from my PC, given that both use private IP addresses? If such a thing is not possible with current set up, what minimal changes are required for it?

  • Anonymous FTP upload on CentOS 5.2

    - by Craig
I need to allow users to upload files to an FTP server anonymously. They should not be able to see any other files, or download files. It is a CentOS 5.2 server. I have a separate partition for the the upload area (mounted at /ftp). I have tried to set up vsftpd, followed all the instructions/advice I could find. But, when a user logs in and tries to transfer a file it throws a "553 could not create file." error. If I do a 'pwd' it shows the directory as "/" rather than the anon_root of "/ftp/anonymous". Any attempt to change the remote directory ends with "550 Failed to change directory.". I have a subdirectory "/ftp/anonymous/incoming" that is writable for the uploads SELinux is in permissive mode. I am running version 2.0.5 release 16.el5 of vsftpd. Here is the vsftpd.conf file: anonymous_enable=YES local_enable=YES write_enable=YES local_umask=002 anon_umask=007 file_open_mode=0666 anon_upload_enable=YES anon_mkdir_write_enable=NO dirmessage_enable=YES xferlog_enable=YES connect_from_port_20=YES chown_uploads=YES chown_username=inftpadm xferlog_std_format=YES nopriv_user=nobody listen=YES pam_service_name=vsftpd userlist_enable=YES tcp_wrappers=YES ftp_username=inftpadm anon_root=/ftp/anonymous anon_other_write_enable=NO anon_mkdir_write_enable=NO anon_world_readable_only=NO dirlist_enable=YES Can anyone help?

  • Java: where should I put anonymous listener logic code?

    - by tulskiy
Hi, we had a debate at work about what is the best practice for using listeners in java: whether listener logic should stay in the anonymous class, or it should be in a separate method, for example: button.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { // code here } }); or button.addActionListener(new ActionListener() { public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e) { buttonPressed(); } }); private void buttonPressed() { // code here } which is the recommended way in terms of readability and maintainability? I prefer to keep the code inside the listener and only if gets too large, make it an inner class. Here I assume that the code is not duplicated anywhere else. Thank you.

  • .NET how to output csv from enumeration of anonymous type?

    - by Ronnie Overby
Using FileHelpers, I decorated a class with [DelimitedRecord(",")] and was going to output an enumeration of objects of that type as CSV. But, it didn't work because my class inherits from ActiveRecordLinqBase<T>, which caused some problems. So, I was wondering if I could just select an enumeration of anonymous types and somehow have filehelpers generate csv from that. I don't like having to define a class just for FileHelpers to output csv. I would be open to using another csv library, but FileHelpers is proven. EDIT @Foovanadil: This would be the sort of thing I am trying to do: CreateCSV(MyCollection.Select(x=>new{ x.Prop1, x.Prop2, x.Prop3 })); Gives you: Prop1,Prop2,Prop3 val1a,val2a,val3a, val1b,val2b,val3b, etc.....

  • Why won't my anonymous function fire on grid.prerender?

    - by adam0101
In my gridview I have fields for inserting a new record in the footer. In my objectdatasource selecting event if no records came back I bind a single mock row to force the footer to show so they can still add records. Since the row does not contain real data I hide the row. ... If result.ItemCount = 0 Then result = mockRow AddHandler mygridview.PreRender, AddressOf HideRow End If End Sub Private Sub HideRow(ByVal sender as Object, ByVal e as EventArgs) mygridview.Rows(0).Visible = False End Sub This works fine. However, I'd like to condense it like this: ... If result.ItemCount = 0 Then result = mockRow AddHandler mygridview.PreRender, Function() mygridview.Rows(0).Visible = False End If End Sub This compiles fine, but the row doesn't get hidden. Can anyone tell me why my anonymous function isn't getting hit?

  • Can we have an anonymous struct as template argument?

    - by nonoitall
The title is pretty self-explanatory, but here's a simplified example: #include <cstdio> template <typename T> struct MyTemplate { T member; void printMemberSize() { printf("%i\n", sizeof(T)); } }; int main() { MyTemplate<struct { int a; int b; }> t; // <-- compiler doesn't like this t.printMemberSize(); return 0; } The compiler complains when I try to use an anonymous struct as a template argument. What's the best way to achieve something like this without having to have a separate, named struct definition?

  • Want to add a new property to a class, can I use anonymous functions for this?

    - by Blankman
I have 2 Lists: List<User> List<UserStats> So I want to add a property Count to User (it doesn't have one now, and I can't change the implementation at this point). For a web service call, that returns json, I want to modify the User object. Basically I add the Users to a collection. So I want to add a modified user class (via anonymous functions?) to the collection before I serialize it to json. So something like: loop users { user.Count = userstats[user.ID].Count; list.Add(user); } is this possible? how?

  • dumping the source code for an anonymous function

    - by intuited
I'm working with a lot of anonymous functions, ie functions declared as part of a dictionary, aka "methods". It's getting pretty painful to debug, because I can't tell what function the errors are happening in. Vim's backtraces look like this: Error detected while processing function NamedFunction..2111..2105: line 1: E730: using List as a String This trace shows that the error occurred in the third level down the stack, on the first line of anonymous function #2105. IE NamedFunction called anonymous function #2111, which called anonymous function #2105. NamedFunction is one declared through the normal function NamedFunction() ... endfunction syntax; the others were declared using code like function dict.func() ... endfunction. So obviously I'd like to find out which function has number 2105. Assuming that it's still in scope, it's possible to find out what Dictionary entry references it by dumping all of the dictionary variables that might contain that reference. This is sort of awkward and it's difficult to be systematic about it, though I guess I could code up a function to search through all of the loaded dictionaries for a reference to that function, watching out for circular references. Although to be really thorough, it would have to search not only script-local and global dictionaries, but buffer-local dictionaries as well; is there a way to access another buffer's local variables? Anyway I'm wondering if it's possible to dump the source code for the anonymous function instead. This would be a lot easier and probably more reliable.

  • Can I password protect a Publisher file?

    - by tombull89
I was asked ealier this week if it was possible to password protect a Microsoft Office 2007 Publisher document. I was under the impression that it would be like protecting a Word document, by going to Office Save As Word Document Tools General Options and creating a password to modify, like shown below. This also works for Excel documents. However, in Publisher 2007 the option is not there. The only option under "Tools" is "Map network drive". We overcame the issue as saving as a PDF and distributing that, but is there a way to do what we want?

  • Setup Remote Access in Windows Home Server

    - by Mysticgeek
One of the many awesome features of Windows Home Server, is the ability to access your server and other computers on your network remotely. Today we show you the steps to enable Remote Access to your home server from anywhere you have an Internet connection. Remote Access in Windows Home Server has a lot of great features like uploading and downloading files from shared folders, accessing files from machines on your network, and controling machines remotely (on supported OS versions). Here we take a look at the basics of setting it up, choosing a domain name, and verifying you can connect remotely. Setup Remote Access in Windows Home Server Open the Windows Home Server Console and click on Settings. Next select Remote Access, it is off by default, just click the button to turn it on. Wait while your router is configured for remote access, when it’s complete click Next. Notice that it will enable UPnP, if you don’t wish to have that enabled, you can manually forward the correct ports. If you have any problems with the router being automatically configured, we’ll be taking a look at a more detailed troubleshooting guide in the future. The router is successfully configured, and we can continue to the next process of configuring our domain name. The Domain Name Setup Wizard will start. Notice you will need a Windows Live ID to set it up –which is typically your hotmail address. If you don’t already have one, you can get one here. Type in your Live ID email address and password and click Next… Agree to the Home Server Privacy Statement and the Live Custom Domains Addendum. If you’re concerned about privacy and want to learn more about the domain addendum, make sure to read about it before agreeing. There is nothing abnormal to point out about either statement, but if this is your first time setting it up, it’s good to review the information.   Now choose a name for the domain. You should select something that is easy to remember and identifies your home server. The name can contain up to 63 characters, numbers, letters, and hyphens…and must begin and end with a letter or number. When you have the name figured out click the Confirm button. Note: You can only register one domain name per Live ID. If the name isn’t already taken, you’ll get a confirmation message indicating it’s god to go. The wizard is complete and you can now access the home server from the URL provided. A few other things to point out after you’ve set it up…under Domain Name click on the Details button… Which pulls up the domain detail information and you can refresh the data to verify everything is working correctly. Or you can click the Configure button and then change or release your current domain name. Under Web site settings, you can change you site page headline to whatever you want it to be. Accessing Home Server Remotely After you’ve gotten everything setup for your home server domain, you can begin to access it when you’re away from home. Simply type in the domain address you created in the previous steps. The start page is rather boring…and to start accessing your data, click the Log On button in the upper right hand corner. Then enter in your home server credentials to gain access to your files, folders, and network computers. You won’t be able to log in with your administrator user account however, to protect security of your network. Once you’re logged in, you’ll be able to access different parts of your home server shares and network computers. Conclusion Now that you have Remote Access setup, you should be able to access and manage your files easily. Being able to access data from your home server remotely is great when you need to get certain files while on the road. The web UI is pretty self explanatory, works best in IE as ActiveX is required, and is smooth and easy to work with. In future articles we’ll be covering a lot more regarding remote access, including more of the available features, troubleshooting connection issues, and enabling access for other users.
