  • Beginner question about merging in git

    - by wxyz
I'm 15 and have just started using source control systems to manage my code a little better, so I'm a little new to this stuff. Right now I have this repository: [a]---[b]---[d]---[f] master \ \ [c]---[e] develop I want to wind up here: [a]---[b]---[d]---[f]---[g] master \ / \ / [c]---[e]---/ develop where g is equivalent to performing commits [c] and [e] on [f]. This is git checkout master; git merge develop, right?

  • Maven : Determine parent POM

    - by toolkit
Hi there, I have a whole bunch of mavenised projects, and I want to check that each project has the correct version of a parent pom. One way could be to checkout each project in turn, and then have a script that reads the parent section. Or is these some way of determining this from looking at the repository? Has anyone else had to do something similar? Thanks.

  • vim is not obeying command aliases

    - by Nadal
I use bash on mac and one of the aliases is like this alias gitlog='git --no-pager log -n 20 --pretty=format:%h%x09%an%x09%ad%x09%s --date=short --no-merges' However when I do :! gitlog I get /bin/bash: gitlog: command not found I know I can add aliases like this in my .gitconfig [alias] co = checkout st = status ci = commit br = branch df = diff However I don't want to add all my bash aliases to .gitconfig. That is not DRY. Is there a better solution?

  • I accidentally created a git local branch called --track, how can I delete it?

    - by Rich
I mistyped a git command which resulted in the creation of a local branch called, '--track'. I've tried the following: git branch -m --track delme (this renames the current branch to delme, not the branch called --track) git checkout --track > fatal: --track needs a branch name git branch -d --track (does nothing, reports nothing) git branch -D --track (also does nothing) git branch -d "--track" (also does nothing How can I delete this branch?

I'm working with a shell account in a shared system and I would like to use some version control software for my bash scripts and config files. I want to be able to commit my changes and restore them if needed.

  • How to undelete from the SVN Repository

    - by Clay Nichols
I accidentally deleted a major folder inside of the Tortoise-SVN Repro Browser. The working folder is unaffected. What is the recommended way to reverse that? Do I just Revert back to the previous version? Or do I need to do a Checkout to that previous version into a new folder and delete the old folder?

  • PHP Netbeans 6.8 subversion integration (Windows 7)

    - by gimpe
I am using Netbeans 6.8 for PHP (under Windows 7) and the subversion integration doesn't work. I am able to checkout a module but I don't see the subversion features in the menus or the outine in the editor left margin that shows the changes in the files. I am using it under Ubuntu with no problems. Did any of you experimented the same problem? If yes, were you able to make it work? Thanks!

  • Subversion causes network problems

    - by richard
I often use tortoisesvn to checkout or update a working copy on a development server. Whenever I do this, it seems to slow down the network and other users complain that browsing websites and accessing files on the dev server is slow. Is this a common bug in Subversion or has anyone else has come across similar problems?

  • capistrano initial deployment

I'm trying to set up Capistrano to deploy to an AWS box. This is the first time I've tried to set this up, so please bear with me. • How do I force git to use LF under windows?

    - by Sorin Sbarnea
I want to force git to checkout files under Windows using just LF not CR+LF. I checked the two configuration options but I was not able to find the right combination of settings. I want it to convert all files to LF and keep the LF on the files. Remark: I used autocrlf = input but this just repairs the files when you commit them. I want to force it to get them using 'LF'.
