• Trouble Setting up Open SSH with Putty

  I for the life of me can't seem to get openSSH to work on Ubuntu Server 10.10 with keys I generated in PuttyGen on my Windows machine. After hours of trial and error and web searches I can't get my ssh service to accept my private key! Here is my sshd_config. I generated my public and private keys using Putty in Windows then used a ssh connection to paste my key from putty directly into my authorized_keys2 file located in */etc/ssh/publickeys/authorized_keys2* The authorized_keys2 file looks something like: ssh-rsa AAAAB3NzaC1yc2EAAAA... with no email or anything at the end of it. I just pasted it straight from PuttyGen without using a key comment. I feel like it's not working because of some nuance I am not understanding or some unusual setting or incompatibility. I've restarted the ssh service (and the machine) to no avail. What are some common pitfalls I might have gotten myself into? Is there a simpler way to generate ssh keys that putty can use in windows?

  Can I pass events like key strokes to another control in Silverlight? Imagine I'm in a custom control that contains a Textbox and a Treeview. I'm listening to a Key event for the TextBox. When the user pushes the Arrow Up or Arrow Down key, I want the Treeview to behave as if it's itself who received that event, i.e. it should move the current selection up or down. The user shouldn't lose focus on the TextBox though so that they can continue typing. Is this possible? I don't want to set the selection manually on the Treeview because it has no easy MoveSelectionUp() or MoveSelectionDown() method, so I would have to duplicate that functionality which is not so trivial especially when the tree is databound and loads nodes on demand.

  I have a customer that wants to encrypt some data in his database (not passwords; this needs actual encryption, not hashing). The application which will be doing the encrypting/writing is in Java, but the process which will DECRYPT it is behind a secure firewall, and is written in ruby. The idea was to use a public/private key scheme; the java system would encrypt it with the public key, then the process on his local box would use the private key to decrypt it as needed. I'm looking for any experience anyone has doing something like that; my main question is what sorts of libraries on java and ruby can interoperate with the same keys and data.

  I have some objects in List, let's say List<MyClass> and MyClass has several properties. I would like to create an index of the list based on 3 properties of of MyClass. In this case 2 of the properties are int's, and one property is a datetime. Basically I would like to be able to do something like: Dictionary< CompositeKey , MyClass > MyClassListIndex = Dictionary< CompositeKey , MyClass >(); //Populate dictionary with items from the List<MyClass> MyClassList MyClass aMyClass = Dicitonary[(keyTripletHere)]; I sometimes create multiple dictionaries on a list to index different properties of the classes it holds. I am not sure how best to handle composite keys though. I considered doing a checksum of the three values but this runs the risk of collisions.

  I'm trying to use core image on the iphone. I'm able to composite my colors using quartz to draw an uiview, but i want to separate each component into CALayer (UIview consume more resources). So i have a white mask i want to use to filter a background bitmap, and i want to try diffrent blending mode. UNfortunately, the layers are only "adding" their colors.   Hi All, I have an application that uses WPF Composite, and I have an issue. I've got a big database that is attached to the application and I need it exposed to different modules as part of the application. What is the best way to expose my Entity Framework model to all my different modules and views inside them? Do I have one EF model or a separate one for each module and then only the tables that each module needs. The only problem being that some tables have a relationship and will have different views and those views will be in different modules. Any ideas how to resolve this?

The questions are: Context: Large (50M - 500M rows) OLAP Prep tables, not NOSQL, not Columnar. MySQL and DB2 1) Does the order of keys in a PK matter? 2) If the cardinality of the columns varies heavily, which should be used first. For example, if I have CLIENT/CAMPAIGN/PROGRAM where CLIENT is highly cardinal, CAMPAIGN is moderate, PROGRAM is almost like a bitmap index, what order is the best? 3) What order is the best for Join, if there is a Where clause and when there is no Where Clause (for views) Thanks in advance.

• How do you map a composite id to a composite user type with Fluent NHibernate?

  i'm working w/ a legacy database is set-up stupidly with an index composed of a char id column and two char columns which make up a date and time, respectively. I have created a icompositeusertype for the date and time columns to map to a single .NET DateTime property on my entity, which works by itself when not part of the id. i need to somehow use a composite id with key property mapping that includes my icompositeusertype for mapping to the two char date and time columns. Apparently w/ my version of Fluent NHibernate, CompositeIdentityPart doesn't have a CustomTypeIs() method, so i can't just do the following in my override: mapping.UseCompositeId() .WithKeyProperty(x => x.Id, CommonDatabaseFieldNames.Id) .WithKeyProperty(x => x.FileCreationDateTime) .CustomTypeIs<FileCreationDateTimeType>(); is something like this even possible w/ NHibernate let alone Fluent? I haven't been able to find anything on this.

  Just say I had a query as below.. SELECT name,category,address,city,state FROM table WHERE MATCH(name,subcategory,category,tag1) AGAINST('education') AND city='Oakland' AND state='CA' LIMIT 0, 10; ..and I had a fulltext index as name,subcategory,category,tag1 and a composite index as city,state; is this good enough for this query? Just wondering if something extra is needed when mixing additional AND's when making use of the fulltext index with the MATCH/AGAINST. Edit: What I am trying to understand is, what happens with the additional columns that are within the query but are not indexed in the chosen index (the fulltext index), the above example being city and state. How does MySQL now find the matching rows for these since it can't use two indexes (or can it?) - so, basically, I'm trying to understand how MySQL goes about finding the data optimally for the columns NOT in the chosen fulltext index and if there is anything I can or should do to optimize the query.

• Appengine backreferences - need composite index?

  I have a query that is very recently starting to throw: "The built-in indices are not efficient enough for this query and your data. Please add a composite index for this query." I checked the line on which this exception is being thrown, and the problem query is this one: count = self.vote_set.filter("direction =", 1).count() This is literally a one-filter operation using appengine's built-in backreferences. I have no idea how to optimize this query...anyone have any suggestions? I tried to add this index: - kind: Vote properties: - name: direction direction: desc - kind: Vote properties: - name: direction And I got a message (obviously) saying this was an unnecessary index. • How to manage primary key while updating [migrated]

  In the following table primaryKeyColumn is primary key. To maintain the data history I always uses the values with WHERE condition(WHERE StatusColumn=1) And will set the StatusColumn to 0 if the data is edited (So that I could keep the previous data). But the problem is, if I update it to 0 , I can't insert the same key to primarykeycolumn since the column validated for primary keys. • How to make xlock use the first key I hit as a part of my password

  I just switched from Arch Linux to Ubuntu 10.10. I'm running the Fluxbox window manager, and I use xlockmore to lock my screen with the following key shortcut: 192 :Exec xlock-mode marquee +usefirst -icongeometry 240x240 -message "back in a minute..." The problem I'm having is that xlock is definitely not using my first key as part of my password. Instead, it uses some randomized fade pattern to fade to the password screen. I find this highly annoying, as when I get back to my desk and start entering my password it doesn't register password characters until the fade pattern is complete. I've also tried the following modifications with no difference: 192 :Exec xlock -mode marquee -usefirst -icongeometry 240x240 -message "back in a minute..." 192 :Exec xlock -mode marquee -icongeometry 240x240 -message "back in a minute..." The first example worked flawlessly on Arch. Does Ubuntu have some sort of system default that you can't override on the command-line?

  I am using enchantJS and would like to use the letters and numbers as well as numpad on a keyboard to do different things (eg: hotkeys). From this page http://users.csc.calpoly.edu/~foaad/enchant/guide/playerInput.html By default, enchant.js provides input listeners for six buttons: UP, DOWN, LEFT, RIGHT, A, and B. By default, the directions are bound to the arrow keys. Any of the six buttons may also be bound to any key with an ASCII value. We’ll address that later. So enchant provides the ability to bind keys to different input such as up, down, left, right...but how can I simply check whether the D or X key was pressed, and if so, perform certain actions based on that event?
