  • PCManFM problems: shuts down unexpectedly, would not always start [closed]

    - by cipricus
    In Lubuntu 12.04 beta (final release in a few days). I do not remember doing something outrageous to my PCManFM but now it has has a lot of problems: "extract here" menu action wouldn't work (this problem never disappears) the program shuts without obvious reason making the desktop empty (the program can be started in run (alt-f2) but this does not alway restore the desktop) would not start sometimes from its /usr/share/applications.desktop file (or the "Aplication Launch Bar") although it starts in run (alt-f2) (the last problem is temporarily solved if the program is closed in task manager and than restarted with alt-f2) I have reinstalled it to no avail. Any ideas?

  • Top down or bottom up approach?

    - by george_zakharov
    this is the closest I think I can get to define my problem. I'm an interface designer and now I'm working with a team of programmers to develop a new CMS for a heavy media site. I'm sorry if it's a very, very dumb question to ask here, but I really need some help. As I've started developing a specification list for a prototype it turned out a very big one. I do realize now that the client-side will be JS heavy, with lots of DnD and other "cool designer stuff". The CMS will even include a small project management system for its users, nothing big like Basecamp, but with a live feed of comments etc. The problem is the the team has now separated. Someone is proposing the existing backend solution used in other CMS, someone is proposing to rewrite everything from scratch. The point to keep the code is that it is faster, the point to rewrite is to make it better for the proposed design (include Node.js and other stuff I don't actually get). The question is — can the UI specs influence back-end? The guys that propose to use the existing solution did everything with the Yii framework (as far as I know), and they say that everything on server is not affected by this "interface coolness". Others say that it does, that even autosave can't work without server load. Please, if this is really incomprehensible, again, I'm sorry, and I'll happy to clarify it after your questions. Thanks in advance

    Possible Duplicate: Problem with ubuntu 12.04 I am new to Ubuntu. I've installed 12.04 version of Ubuntu. It works fine but sometimes when i shutdown my PC from Ubuntu and when I try to start it again,nothing shows on the screen. It's always black screen instead of Acer logo (I have Acer aspire 5573) and the system restart again and again but and doesn't allow me to choose a OS (Ubuntu/windows,i use dualboot) To fix this I have to remove the battery and put it again.Then everything works fine. How do i fix this issue? I think that could be a incompatibility with the PC because everything works fine with windows. Thanks!

  • Iptables ignoring a rule in the config file

    - by Overdeath
    I see lot of established connections to my apache server from the ip 188.241.114.22 which eventually causes apache to hang . After I restart the service everything works fine. I tried adding a rule in iptables -A INPUT -s 188.241.114.22 -j DROP but despite that I keep seeing connections from that IP. I'm using centOS and i'm adding the rule like thie: iptables -A INPUT -s 188.241.114.22 -j DROP Right afther that I save it using: service iptables save Here is the output of iptables -L -v ` Chain INPUT (policy ACCEPT 120K packets, 16M bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination 0 0 DROP all -- any any lg01.mia02.pccwbtn.net anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any c-98-210-5-174.hsd1.ca.comcast.net anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any c-98-201-5-174.hsd1.tx.comcast.net anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any lg01.mia02.pccwbtn.net anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any www.dabacus2.com anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any 116.255.163.100 anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any 94.23.119.11 anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any 164.bajanet.mx anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any 173-203-71-136.static.cloud-ips.com anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any v1.oxygen.ro anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any 74.122.177.12 anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any 58.83.227.150 anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any v1.oxygen.ro anywhere 0 0 DROP all -- any any v1.oxygen.ro anywhere Chain FORWARD (policy ACCEPT 0 packets, 0 bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination Chain OUTPUT (policy ACCEPT 186K packets, 224M bytes) pkts bytes target prot opt in out source destination `

  • Strange behaviour using Drag and Drop in word 2003 automation in headers

    - by Oliver Hanappi
    Hi! I am developing a template based addin for Word 2003 which allows the user to drag and drop elements from a listbox into the word document. Unfortunately I'm getting a really strange behaviour when trying to drop elements in the document's header. Open the template and type something in the header Close the header and insert some content on the page Add a page break. Switch to page layout mode where and set zoom level to "Two Pages" Open the header Slowly Drag and Drop an list item from the list box to the header. See multiple Page Setups dialogs occur which cause Word to crash. Here is my code: // in ThisDocument.cs public MyUserControl _control; public void Init() { _control = new MyUserControl(); ActionsPane.Controls.Add(_control); ActionsPane.Visible = true; } // in MyUserControl.cs public void listBox1_MouseDown(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { DoDragDrop("something", DragDropEffects.Copy); } Have I done somethinkg wrong with implementing Drag and Drop? Is there a workaround for this strange behaviour? Thanks in advance, Oliver Hanappi

  • Server suffering serious speed drop

    - by Tar
    As you can see from the picture http://i.imgur.com/UpDZh.png), my server is suffering a serious drop in speed. This is intermittent and has been happening for the past 3 or 4 hours. The server has 1gbps uplink so I can't figure out why it's happening. Checking bandwidth monitoring tools like bwm-ng and dstat show normal speeds of like 150kb/s outbound traffic. Just now I was completely disconnected from SSH.

  • Price drop patterns

    - by doug
    I'm looking to buy a new laptop, and i don't need the top hi-tech because I'll use it for office type applications. In this case, the CPU and RAM are those who are mostly used. For example Intel i3 CPU was launched in Jan 2010 and in this case, the prices for Core Duo technology will drop. Do you know when or which are the signs? Can we talk about such a pattern?

  • Shorewall: temporarily drop incoming traffic except port 22?

    - by Magnetic_dud
    When I work on configuration files, especially of the mail server, I would like to temporarily drop all the incoming traffic except the port 22. So, I don't risk to lose incoming mails if I need to move the mail server to another server, or something like that. Using shorewall, how I could do that? I was thinking to create a rules file to divert all the traffic to a non-existant internal ip and switch it with the normal file when needed.

  • WPF DataGrid - Can't Use Mouse To Scroll Because Of Drag Drop

    - by OrPaz
    Hello, I am using a datagrid that is allowing to drag its rows. My problem is that when i try to scroll down on my grid using the mouse on the side scroller, i get the 'no enterance' sign that means that "drag and drop is not allowed here, dude...". How can i modify my drag and drop function to recognize that this is not a drag and drop action, but a scroll mouse action? private new void MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (e.LeftButton == MouseButtonState.Pressed) { Point currentPosition = e.GetPosition(GridUC); Object selectedItem = GridUC.SelectedItem; if (selectedItem == null) return; DragDropContainerObject ddObject = new DragDropContainerObject(typeof(Actor), selectedItem); DataGridRow container = (DataGridRow)GridUC.ItemContainerGenerator.ContainerFromItem(selectedItem); if (container != null) { DragDropEffects finalDropEffect = DragDrop.DoDragDrop(container, ddObject, DragDropEffects.Link); } } }

  • Adding Item to DataBound Drop Down List

    - by Stephen
    Yes, I have read most of the topics here, but I can't find an answer that works. I have Three drop-down lists. The first is databound to grab distinct experiment names. The user selects, page posts back, and the second drop-down menu displays distinct time points. This is where I need help. I need to add an item to THAT drop-down list whose ID, DataTextField, DataValueField are all TimePt. Seems simple, but I can't get it to work. protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { if (Page.IsPostBack) { TimePt.DataSource = TimePTDD; TimePt.DataValueField = "TimePt"; TimePt.DataTextField = "TimePt"; TimePt.DataBind(); TimePt.Items.Insert(0, new ListItem("--Select---", "0")); TimePt.SelectedIndex = 0; } } I'm missing sometthing.

  • Custom drop down

    - by Rob
    I'm trying to create a custom drop down and using the code below it works pretty well - only one problem is if i have more than one drop down, all the links will only activate the first drop down. Any ideas on how I would fix that? (and yes I know about Suckerfish I just need to get this to work) function toggle() { var ele = document.getElementById("dropdown-items"); var text = document.getElementById("dropdown-menu"); if(ele.style.display == "block") { ele.style.display = "none"; } else { ele.style.display = "block"; } }

  • Mapping a drop-down menu over an image

    - by Pieter
    I have a menu bar that is rotated slightly. Here are two buttons as an example: As a result, I can't use regular HTML to handle this. I need to use a <map> to put hyperlinks over the menu parts. (Or am I missing a killer CSS feature I don't know about?) I want to map drop-down menus to these buttons. This looks like a nice way to implement drop-down menus: http://javascript-array.com/scripts/simple_drop_down_menu/ However, this does not work on <map>s, I believe. Or am I wrong? Is there a different approach I can take to constructing drop-down menus for a menu bar that is not aligned horizontally?
