  • Can this method to convert a name to proper case be improved?

    - by Kelsey
    I am writing a basic function to convert millions of names (one time batch process) from their current form, which is all upper case, to a proper mixed case. I came up with the following so far: public string ConvertToProperNameCase(string input) { TextInfo textInfo = new CultureInfo("en-US", false).TextInfo; char[] chars = textInfo.ToTitleCase(input.ToLower()).ToCharArray(); for (int i = 0; i + 1 < chars.Length; i++) { if ((chars[i].Equals('\'')) || (chars[i].Equals('-'))) { chars[i + 1] = Char.ToUpper(chars[i + 1]); } } return new string(chars);; } It works in most cases such as: JOHN SMITH - John Smith SMITH, JOHN T - Smith, John T JOHN O'BRIAN - John O'Brian JOHN DOE-SMITH - John Doe-Smith There are some edge cases that do no work like: JASON MCDONALD - Jason Mcdonald (Correct: Jason McDonald) OSCAR DE LA HOYA - Oscar De La Hoya (Correct: Oscar de la Hoya) MARIE DIFRANCO - Marie Difranco (Correct: Marie DiFranco) These are not captured and I am not sure if I can handle all these odd edge cases. Can anyone think of anything I could change or add to capture more edge case? I am sure there are tons of edge cases I am not even thinking of as well. All casing should following North American conventions too meaning that if certain countries expect a specific capitalization format, and that differs from the North American format, then the North American format takes precedence.

  • count on LINQ union

    - by brechtvhb
    I'm having this link statement: List<UserGroup> domains = UserRepository.Instance.UserIsAdminOf(currentUser.User_ID); query = (from doc in _db.Repository<Document>() join uug in _db.Repository<User_UserGroup>() on doc.DocumentFrom equals uug.User_ID where domains.Contains(uug.UserGroup) select doc) .Union(from doc in _db.Repository<Document>() join uug in _db.Repository<User_UserGroup>() on doc.DocumentTo equals uug.User_ID where domains.Contains(uug.UserGroup) select doc); Running this statement doesn't cause any problems. But when I want to count the resultset the query suddenly runs quite slow. totalRecords = query.Count(); The result of this query is : SELECT COUNT([t5].[DocumentID]) FROM ( SELECT [t4].[DocumentID], [t4].[DocumentFrom], [t4].[DocumentTo] FROM ( SELECT [t0].[DocumentID], [t0].[DocumentFrom], [t0].[DocumentTo FROM [dbo].[Document] AS [t0] INNER JOIN [dbo].[User_UserGroup] AS [t1] ON [t0].[DocumentFrom] = [t1].[User_ID] WHERE ([t1].[UserGroupID] = 2) OR ([t1].[UserGroupID] = 3) OR ([t1].[UserGroupID] = 6) UNION SELECT [t2].[DocumentID], [t2].[DocumentFrom], [t2].[DocumentTo] FROM [dbo].[Document] AS [t2] INNER JOIN [dbo].[User_UserGroup] AS [t3] ON [t2].[DocumentTo] = [t3].[User_ID] WHERE ([t3].[UserGroupID] = 2) OR ([t3].[UserGroupID] = 3) OR ([t3].[UserGroupID] = 6) ) AS [t4] ) AS [t5] Can anyone help me to improve the speed of the count query? Thanks in advance!

  • What should i do to test EasyMock objects when using Generics ? EasyMock

    - by Arthur Ronald F D Garcia
    See code just bellow Our generic interface public interface Repository<INSTANCE_CLASS, INSTANCE_ID_CLASS> { void add(INSTANCE_CLASS instance); INSTANCE_CLASS getById(INSTANCE_ID_CLASS id); } And a single class public class Order { private Integer id; private Integer orderNumber; // getter's and setter's public void equals(Object o) { if(o == null) return false; if(!(o instanceof Order)) return false; // business key if(getOrderNumber() == null) return false; final Order other = (Order) o; if(!(getOrderNumber().equals(other.getOrderNumber()))) return false; return true; } // hashcode } And when i do the following test private Repository<Order, Integer> repository; @Before public void setUp { repository = EasyMock.createMock(Repository.class); Order order = new Order(); order.setOrderNumber(new Integer(1)); repository.add(order); EasyMock.expectLasCall().once(); EasyMock.replay(repository); } @Test public void addOrder() { Order order = new Order(); order.setOrderNumber(new Integer(1)); repository.add(order); EasyMock.verify(repository) } I get Unexpected method call add(br.com.smac.model.domain.Order@ac66b62): add(br.com.smac.model.domain.Order@ac66b62): expected: 1, actual: 0 Why does it not work as expected ??? • Create Generic method constraining T to an Enum

    - by johnc
    I'm building a function to extend the Enum.Parse concept that allows a default value to be parsed in case that an Enum value is not found Is case insensitive So I wrote the following public static T GetEnumFromString<T>(string value, T defaultValue) where T : Enum { if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(value)) return defaultValue; foreach (T item in Enum.GetValues(typeof(T))) { if (item.ToString().ToLower().Equals(value.Trim().ToLower())) return item; } return defaultValue; } I am getting a Error Constraint cannot be special class 'System.Enum' Fair enough, but is there a workaround to allow a Generic Enum, or am I going to have to mimic the Parse function and pass a type as an attribute, which forces the ugly boxing requirement to your code. EDIT All suggestions below have been greatly appreciated, thanks Have settled on (I've left the loop to maintain case insensitivity - I am usng this when parsing XML) public static class EnumUtils { public static T ParseEnum<T>(string value, T defaultValue) where T : struct, IConvertible { if (!typeof(T).IsEnum) throw new ArgumentException("T must be an enumerated type"); if (string.IsNullOrEmpty(value)) return defaultValue; foreach (T item in Enum.GetValues(typeof(T))) { if (item.ToString().ToLower().Equals(value.Trim().ToLower())) return item; } return defaultValue; } }

  • Why Finalize method not allowed to override

    - by somaraj
    I am new to .net ..and i am confused with the destructor mechanism in C# ..please clarify In C# destructors are converted to finalize method by CLR. If we try to override it (not using destructor ) , will get an error Error 2 Do not override object.Finalize. Instead, provide a destructor. But it seems that the Object calss implementation in mscorlib.dll has finalize defined as protected override void Finalize(){} , then why cant we override it , that what virtual function for . Why is the design like that , is it to be consistent with c++ destructor concept. Also when we go to the definition of the object class , there is no mention of the finalize method , then how does the hmscorlib.dll definition shows the finalize funtion . Does it mean that the default destructor is converted to finalize method. public class Object { public Object(); public virtual bool Equals(object obj); public static bool Equals(object objA, object objB); public virtual int GetHashCode(); public Type GetType(); protected object MemberwiseClone(); public static bool ReferenceEquals(object objA, object objB); public virtual string ToString(); }

  • HashMap key problems

    - by Peterdk
    I'm profiling some old java code and it appears that my caching of values using a static HashMap and a access method does not work. Caching code (a bit abstracted): static HashMap<Key, Value> cache = new HashMap<Key, Value>(); public static Value getValue(Key key){ System.out.println("cache size="+ cache.size()); if (cache.containsKey(key)) { System.out.println("cache hit"); return cache.get(key); } else { System.out.println("no cache hit"); Value value = calcValue(); cache.put(key, value); return value; } } Profiling code: for (int i = 0; i < 100; i++) { getValue(new Key()); } Result output: cache size=0 no cache hit (..) cache size=99 no cache hit It looked like a standard error in Key's hashing code or equals code. However: new Key().hashcode == new Key().hashcode // TRUE new Key().equals(new Key()) // TRUE What's especially weird is that cache.put(key, value) just adds another value to the hashmap, instead of replacing the current one. So, I don't really get what's going on here. Am I doing something wrong?

  • android : bluetooth support

    - by Puneet kaur
    i have coded for bluetooth via defining a user task ,which will search the devices in background and set the list on foreground after finishing the search . but sometimes i am getting the data in adapter as "nodevice" "device1" "device2" ...... the problem here is why it is always filling the no device in the list and after that fill the device in list .. private BroadcastReceiver mBlueToothInfoDiscoveryListener = new BroadcastReceiver() { /** * This is an overridden function called by the framework whenever there * is some broadcast message for Bluetooth info discovery listener */ @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String action = intent.getAction(); // When discovery finds a device if (BluetoothDevice.ACTION_FOUND.equals(action)) { // Get the BluetoothDevice object from the Intent BluetoothDevice device = intent.getParcelableExtra(BluetoothDevice.EXTRA_DEVICE); // If it's already paired, skip it, because it's been listed // already if (device.getBondState() != BluetoothDevice.BOND_BONDED) { mNewBtDevicesArrayAdapter.add(device.getName() + "\n" + device.getAddress()); } // When discovery is finished, change the Activity title } else if (BluetoothAdapter.ACTION_DISCOVERY_FINISHED.equals(action)) { setProgressBarIndeterminateVisibility(false); setTitle("device list"); if (mNewBtDevicesArrayAdapter.getCount() == 0) { String noDevices = "No devices found"; mNewBtDevicesArrayAdapter.add(noDevices); } } } }; but here why it is sometimes going into else option on start and filling the list with no device then to if part again ... when devices are already on .

  • F# passing an operator with arguments to a function

    - by dan
    Can you pass in an operation like "divide by 2" or "subtract 1" using just a partially applied operator, where "add 1" looks like this: List.map ((+) 1) [1..5];; //equals [2..6] // instead of having to write: List.map (fun x-> x+1) [1..5] What's happening is 1 is being applied to (+) as it's first argument, and the list item is being applied as the second argument. For addition and multiplication, this argument ordering doesn't matter. Suppose I want to subtract 1 from every element (this will probably be a common beginners mistake): List.map ((-) 1) [1..5];; //equals [0 .. -4], the opposite of what we wanted 1 is applied to the (-) as its first argument, so instead of (list_item - 1), I get (1 - list_item). I can rewrite it as adding negative one instead of subtracting positive one: List.map ((+) -1) [1..5];; List.map (fun x -> x-1) [1..5];; // this works too I'm looking for a more expressive way to write it, something like ((-) _ 1), where _ denotes a placeholder, like in the Arc language. This would cause 1 to be the second argument to -, so in List.map, it would evaluate to list_item - 1. So if you wanted to map divide by 2 to the list, you could write: List.map ((/) _ 2) [2;4;6] //not real syntax, but would equal [1;2;3] List.map (fun x -> x/2) [2;4;6] //real syntax equivalent of the above Can this be done or do I have to use (fun x -> x/2)? It seems that the closest we can get to the placeholder syntax is to use a lambda with a named argument.

  • a selector which has this selector together with a class selector

    - by Woho87
    Here is an analogy of my problem(a selector which has this selector together with a class selector): Let say that I selects all yellow(classes) div elements in a arbitrary HTML document. And I want each to check if the attribute is yes = 1. If the attribute 'yes' equals '1', then I want the child with class 'blue' have the attribute 'no' equals '1'; $('div .yellow').each(function(){ if($(this).attr('yes') == 1){ $(this '.blue:first-child').attr('no', 1);//This line needs to be fixed } }); I know that the line this.getElementsByClassName('blue')[0] fixes this problem. But in my real problem (not this analogy) I want to use addClass and removeClass which only functions with jQuery objects. It is to cumbersome to use other functions than addClass and removeClass. UPDATE: Here is a code snippet from my real problem. I got some problem with "this" in javascript. I want a invited button to have the className visible when I click on it. The button lies within a div element with className 'box'. I know that there are problem with 'this' on the code snippet. But I want the button and not the box to change to visible $('.Box').each(function(){ if($(this).attr('hasButton') != 1){ var invite = document.createElement('div'); invite.className = 'invite invisible'; invite.innerHTML = 'invite'; $(this).attr('hasButton', 1); this.appendChild(invite); invite.addEventListener('mouseover', function(event){ $('.invite', this).removeClass('invisible');//this line is not functioning $('.invite', this).addClass('visible');//neither this }, false); } });

  • Cannot hide a UIButton - Please help!

    - by Neurofluxation
    Hey again, I have the following code: visitSite.hidden = YES; For some reason, when I click a UIButton and call this piece of code, the visitSite button does not hide. The code is within this block: -(IBAction)welcomeButtonPressed:(id)sender { [UIButton beginAnimations:@"welcomeAnimation" context:NULL]; [UIButton setAnimationDuration:1.5]; [UIButton SetAnimationDidStopSelector:@selector(nowHideThisSiteButton:finished:context:)]; [UIButton setAnimationTransition:UIViewAnimationTransitionCurlUp forView:self.view cache:YES]; ((UIView *)sender).hidden = YES; [UIButton commitAnimations]; } and the stop selector below: -(void)nowHideThisSiteButton:(NSString *)animationID finished:(BOOL *)finished context:(void *)context { visitSite.hidden = YES; } I've also tried [visitSite setHidden:YES]; and that fails as well. ALSO I've noticed that the setAnimationDidStopSelector does not get called at all. Also, visitSite (when NSLogged) equals: <UIButton: 0x1290f0; frame = (0 0; 320 460); opaque = NO; autoresize = RM+BM; layer = <CALayer: 0x1290f0>> visitSite.hidden (when NSLogged) equals: NULL Any more ideas? :(

  • Can't disable method parenthesis auto-complete in Eclipse

    - by cvig
    I'm trying to disable the automatic closing of brackets in Eclipse, and while I've mostly succeeded, I can't stop the editor from inserting a closing parenthesis for a method call. The result is that when I type: myBool.equals(true); it inserts a closing parenthesis as soon as I type the opening parenthesis, and what I actually get is: myBool.equals(true);) I've disabled all of the auto-complete options in the Preferences - Java - Editor - Typing menu, as well as Preferences - Java - Editor - Content Assist - Fill method arguments and show guessed arguments. I also disabled the smart insert mode option under the Edit menu. Is there another option somewhere else I need to use to stop Eclipse from doing this? This is with Eclipse 3.5.2 (Build ID M20100211-1343) in case it matters. Edited to add: I should also mention that this only happens if I wait for the "intellisense" pop-up with suggested method names to appear after I type the period. If I just continuously type the code without waiting for the suggestion box to appear, the closing parenthesis doesn't get inserted.

  • Generics and collections ... struggling with an implementation

    - by mattruma
    I am trying to figure out a way to leverage generics so I can make the property Value be an actual type that initialized (not sure if this is the correct way of saying it) when my collection class is created. I would like to have the syntax be something like: var list = new ListItemCollection<Guid>(parameters would go here); I have the following class: [Serializable] public class ListItem { public object Value { get; set; } public string Text { get; set; } public object DataContext { get; set; } public Nullable<bool> Checked { get; set; } public ListItem() { this.Checked = false; } } I have the following collection: [Serializable] public class ListItemCollection : List<ListItem> { public ListItem this[object value] { get { foreach (var child in this) { if (child.Value.Equals(value)) return child; } return null; } } public bool Contains(object value) { foreach (var child in this) { if (child.Value.Equals(value)) return true; } return false; } public void Add(object value, string text) { this.Add(value, text, null); } public void Add(object value, string text, object dataContext) { var child = new ListItem(); child.Value = value; child.Text = text; child.DataContext = dataContext; this.Add(child); } public ListItemCollection() { } public ListItemCollection(IEnumerable items, string displayMember, string valueMember, bool showEmptyItem, string emptyItemText, object emptyItemValue) { if (showEmptyItem) { this.Add(emptyItemValue, emptyItemText); } foreach (object item in items) { object text = null; object value = null; text = item.GetType().GetProperty(displayMember).GetValue(item, null); value = item.GetType().GetProperty(valueMember).GetValue(item, null); // Add the item this.Add(value, text.ToString(), item); } } }

  • Linq join with an inner collection

    - by bronze
    Hi, I am trying a LINQ to Object query on 2 collections Customer.Orders Branches.Pending.Orders (Collection within a collection) I want to output each branch which is yet to deliver any order of the customer. var match = from order in customer.Orders join branch in Branches on order equals branch.Pending.Orders select branch; This does not work, I get : The type of one of the expressions in the join clause is incorrect. Type inference failed in the call to 'GroupJoin'. From my search, I think this is because Order or collection of Orders does not implement equals. If this query worked, it will still be wrong, as it will return a branch if the customer's and pending orders match exactly. I want a result if any of the order matches. I am learning Linq, and looking for a approach to address such issues, rather than the solution itself. I would have done this in SQL like this; SELECT b.branch_name from Customers c, Branches b, Orders o WHERE c.customer_id = o.customer_id AND o.branch_id = b.branch_id AND c.customer_id = 'my customer' AND o.order_status = 'pending'

  • Intent.putExtras not consistent

    - by martinjd
    I have a weird situation with AlarmManager. I am scheduling an event with AlarmManager and passing in a string using intent.putExtra. The string is either silent or vibrate and when the receiver fires the phone should either turn of the ringer or set the phone to vibrate. The log statement correctly outputs the expected value each time. Intent intent; if (eventType.equals("start")) { intent = new Intent(context, SReceiver.class); } else { intent = new Intent(context, EReceiver.class); } intent.setAction(eventType+Long.toString(newId)); Log.v("EditQT",ringerModeType.toUpperCase()); intent.putExtra("ringerModeType", ringerModeType.toUpperCase()); PendingIntent appIntent = PendingIntent.getBroadcast(context, 0, intent, 0); AlarmManager alarmManager = (AlarmManager) getSystemService (Context.ALARM_SERVICE); alarmManager.set(AlarmManager.RTC_WAKEUP, calendar.getTimeInMillis(), appIntent); The receiver that fires when the alarm executes also has a log statement and I can see the first time around that the statement outputs the expected string either SILENT or VIBRATE. The alarm executes and then I change the value for putExtra to opposite string and the receiver still displays the previous value event though the call from the code above shows that the new value was passed in. The value for setAction is the same each time. audioManager = (AudioManager) context.getSystemService(Activity.AUDIO_SERVICE); Log.v("Start",intent.getExtras().get("ringerModeType").toString()); if (intent.getExtras().get("ringerModeType").equals("SILENTMODE")) { audioManager.setRingerMode(AudioManager.RINGER_MODE_SILENT); } else { audioManager.setRingerMode(AudioManager.RINGER_MODE_VIBRATE); } Any thoughts?

  • C# Using Enumerable Range and Except with custom class to determine missing sequence number

    - by Jon
    I have a List<MyClass> The class is like this: private class MyClass { public string Name{ get; set; } public int SequenceNumber { get; set; } } I want to work out what Sequence numbers might be missing. I can see how to do this here however because this is a class I am unsure what to do? I think I can handle the except method ok with my own IComparer but the Range method I can't figure out because it only excepts int so this doesn't compile: Enumerable.Range(0, 1000000).Except(chqList, MyEqualityComparer<MyClass>); Here is the IComparer: public class MyEqualityComparer<T> : IEqualityComparer<T> where T : MyClass { #region IEqualityComparer<T> Members public bool Equals(T x, T y) { return (x == null && y == null) || (x != null && y != null && x.SequenceNumber.Equals(y.SequenceNumber)); } /// </exception> public int GetHashCode(T obj) { if (obj == null) { throw new ArgumentNullException("obj"); } return obj.GetHashCode(); } #endregion }

  • How to keep a trace of a record inside a nested repeater?

    - by Amokrane
    Hi, I have the following implementation: As you can see I have a repeater (listing the Machines) and a nested repeater (listing the WindowsServices inside each Machine). For each Windows Service I can perform an action using a button. However, to perform this action I need to know which Machine and which WindowsService are concerned. This is my code: protected void Page_Init(object sender, EventArgs e) { rptMachine.ItemDataBound += new RepeaterItemEventHandler(rptMachine_ItemDataBound); } protected void Page_Load(object sender, EventArgs e) { // bind the Machine repeater rptMachine.DataSource = _monitoringService.Machines; rptMachine.DataBind(); } protected void rptMachine_ItemDataBound(object sender, RepeaterItemEventArgs e) { if (e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.Item || e.Item.ItemType == ListItemType.AlternatingItem) { Repeater nestedRepeater = (Repeater) e.Item.FindControl("rptWindowsService"); nestedRepeater.DataSource = ((IMachine) e.Item.DataItem).WindowsServices; nestedRepeater.DataBind(); Button btnActionInner = null; // bind the action button situated inside the nested repeater foreach(RepeaterItem ri in nestedRepeater.Items) { if((Button)ri.FindControl("btnAction") != null) { btnActionInner = (Button) ri.FindControl("btnAction"); btnActionInner.CommandName = "ActionState"; btnActionInner.CommandArgument = strWindowsService; } } } } protected void rptWindowsService_ItemCommand(object source, RepeaterCommandEventArgs e) { // do the specific action stop/run for the windows service if (e.CommandName == "ActionState") { if(((Button)(e.CommandSource)).Text.Equals("Stop")) { } else if(((Button)(e.CommandSource)).Text.Equals("Run")) { } } } } } So basically I need to know (inside rptWindowsService_ItemCommand) what is the pair that is concerned by the operation. What's the best way to do that? Don't hesitate to ask for more clarifications! Thanks

  • Android - sendOrderedBroadcast help

    - by Donal Rafferty
    I am trying to use a sendOrderedBroadcast in my Android app. I want to be able to send the Intent from one of my applications to another and I then want to get data back from the Application that recieves the Intent, in this case a boolean true or false. Here is the current code: Intent i = new Intent(); i.setAction(GlobalData.PROPOSE_IN_DOMAIN_ROAM_INTENT); i.putExtra("com.testnetworks.QCLEVEL", aProposedTheoreticalQoSLevel); sendOrderedBroadcast(i, null, null, null, Activity.RESULT_OK, null, null); Is this the correct way to achieve what I want? If so what do I use as the resultReceiver* parameter? (3rd parameter) And then how to I recieve data back from the Broadcast? I have done a quick google and not come up with any examples, any help or examples greatly appreciated. UPDATED CODE: sendOrderedBroadcast(i, null, domainBroadcast, null, Activity.RESULT_OK, null, null); class DomainBroadcast extends BroadcastReceiver{ @Override public void onReceive(Context arg0, Intent intent) { String action = intent.getAction(); if(GlobalData.PROPOSE_IN_DOMAIN_ROAM_INTENT.equals(action)){ Log.d("BROADCAST", "Returning broadcast"); Bundle b = intent.getExtras(); Log.d("BROADCAST", "Returning broadcast " + b.getInt("com.testnetworks.INT_TEST")); } } @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { String action = intent.getAction(); if(GlobalData.PROPOSE_IN_DOMAIN_ROAM_INTENT.equals(action)){ Bundle b = intent.getExtras(); int testQCLevel = b.getInt("com.testnetworks.QCLEVEL"); switch(testQCLevel){ case 1: Log.d("QCLevel ", "QCLevel = UNAVAILABLE"); break; case 2: Log.d("QCLevel ", "QCLevel = BELOWUSABILITY"); break; case 3: Log.d("QCLevel ", "QCLevel = VOICE"); break; } intent.putExtra("com.testnetworks.INT_TEST", 100); } So according to the Doc's I should recieve 100 back in my DomainBroadcast reciever but it always comes back as 0. Can anyone see why? *resultReceiver - Your own BroadcastReceiver to treat as the final receiver of the broadcast.

  • NSArray/NSMutableArray : Passed by ref or by value???

    - by wgpubs
    Totally confused here. I have a PARENT UIViewController that needs to pass an NSMutableArray to a CHILD UIViewController. I'm expecting it to be passed by reference so that changes made in the CHILD will be reflected in the PARENT and vice-versa. But that is not the case. Both have a property declared as .. @property (nonatomic, retain) NSMutableArray *photos; Example: In PARENT: self.photos = [[NSMutableArray alloc] init]; ChildViewController *c = [[ChildViewController alloc] init ...]; c.photos = self.photos; ... ... ... In CHILD: [self.photos addObject:obj1]; [self.photos addObject:obj2]; NSLog(@"Count:%d", [self.photos count]) // Equals 2 as expected ... Back in PARENT: NSLog(@"Count:%d", [self.photos count]) // Equals 0 ... NOT EXPECTED I thought they'd both be accessing the same memory. Is this not the case? If it isn't ... how do I keep the two NSMutableArrays in sync?

  • How can I test for an empty Breeze predicate?

    - by Megan
    I'm using Breeze to filter data requested on the client. My code looks a little like this: Client - Creating Filter Predicate var predicates = []; var criteriaPredicate = null; $.each(selectedFilterCriteria(), function (index, item) { criteriaPredicate = (index == 0) ? breeze.Predicate.create('criteriaId', breeze.FilterQueryOp.Equals, item) : criteriaPredicate.or('criteriaId', breeze.FilterQueryOp.Equals, item); if (breeze.Predicate.isPredicate(criteriaPredicate)) { predicates.push(criteriaPredicate); } // Repeat for X Filter Criteria var filter = breeze.Predicate.and(predicates); return context.getAll(filter, data); Client - Context Query function getAll(predicate, dataObservable) { var query = breeze.EntityQuery.from('Data'); if (breeze.Predicate.isPredicate(predicate)) { query = query.where(predicate); } return manager.executeQuery(query).then(success).fail(failure); } Issue I'm having an issue with the request because, if there are no filters set, I apply an "empty" predicate (due to the var filter = breeze.Predicate.and([]) line) resulting in a request like http://mysite/api/app/Data?$filter=. The request is an invalid OData query since the value of the $filter argument cannot be empty. Is there a good way for me to check for an empty predicate? I know I can refactor my client code to not use a predicate unless there is at least one filterable item, but I thought I would check first to see if I overlooked some property or method on the Breeze Predicate.

The gps on device is working properly as google maps and other work related to gps are working perfectly fine my code if(GPS_Location.lati!=0.0 && GPS_Location.longi!=0.0) { User_latitude = ((GPS_Location.lati)*100000); User_longitude = ((GPS_Location.longi)*100000); User_La = String.valueOf(User_latitude).substring(0, String.valueOf(User_latitude).lastIndexOf('.')); User_Lo = String.valueOf(User_longitude).substring(0, String.valueOf(User_longitude).lastIndexOf('.')); if(param.equals("")) //for find business near me { document1 = "<location-document>" + "<location lon='"+User_Lo+"' lat='"+User_La+"' label='User' />"+ "<location lon='"+User_Lo+"' lat='"+User_La+"' label='"+"User"+"' />"+ "</location-document>"; } if(!param.equals("")) //for the directions { Business_latitude = Double.parseDouble(param.substring(0, param.lastIndexOf(','))); Business_longitude = Double.parseDouble(param.substring(param.lastIndexOf(',')+1,param.length())); Business_latitude = Business_latitude*100000; Business_longitude = Business_longitude*100000; Business_La = String.valueOf(Business_latitude).substring(0, String.valueOf(Business_latitude).lastIndexOf('.')); Business_Lo = String.valueOf(Business_longitude).substring(0, String.valueOf(Business_longitude).lastIndexOf('.')); document1 = "<location-document>" + "<GetRoute>"+ "<location lon='"+User_Lo+"' lat='"+User_La+"' label='User' />"+ "<location lon='"+Business_Lo+"' lat='"+Business_La+"' label='"+"User"+"' />"+ "</GetRoute>"+ "</location-document>"; } Invoke.invokeApplication(Invoke.APP_TYPE_MAPS,new MapsArguments(MapsArguments.ARG_LOCATION_DOCUMENT,document1)); } this code works on simulator but not fine on device. just points a pin indicating user and nothing else what to do????

  • Returning searched results in an array in Java without ArrayList

    - by Crystal
    I started down this path of implementing a simple search in an array for a hw assignment without knowing we could use ArrayList. I realized it had some bugs in it and figured I'd still try to know what my bug is before using ArrayList. I basically have a class where I can add, remove, or search from an array. public class AcmeLoanManager { public void addLoan(Loan h) { int loanId = h.getLoanId(); loanArray[loanId - 1] = h; } public Loan[] getAllLoans() { return loanArray; } public Loan[] findLoans(Person p) { //Loan[] searchedLoanArray = new Loan[10]; // create new array to hold searched values searchedLoanArray = this.getAllLoans(); // fill new array with all values // Looks through only valid array values, and if Person p does not match using Person.equals() // sets that value to null. for (int i = 0; i < searchedLoanArray.length; i++) { if (searchedLoanArray[i] != null) { if (!(searchedLoanArray[i].getClient().equals(p))) { searchedLoanArray[i] = null; } } } return searchedLoanArray; } public void removeLoan(int loanId) { loanArray[loanId - 1] = null; } private Loan[] loanArray = new Loan[10]; private Loan[] searchedLoanArray = new Loan[10]; // separate array to hold values returned from search } When testing this, I thought it worked, but I think I am overwriting my member variable after I do a search. I initially thought that I could create a new Loan[] in the method and return that, but that didn't seem to work. Then I thought I could have two arrays. One that would not change, and the other just for the searched values. But I think I am not understanding something, like shallow vs deep copying???....

  • Java the little console game won't repeat?

    - by Jony Kale
    Okay, what I have so far is: You enter the game, and write "spin" to the console. Program will enter the while loop. In the while loop, if entered int is -1, return to the back (Set console input back to "", and let the user select what game he would like to play). Problem: Instead of going back, and selecting "spin" again, the program exits? Why is it happening? How can I fix this? private static Scanner console = new Scanner(System.in); private static Spin spin = new Spin(); private static String inputS = ""; private static int inputI = 0; private static String[] gamesArray = new String[] {"spin", "tof"}; private static boolean spinWheel = false; private static boolean tof = false; public static void main (String[] args) { if (inputS.equals("")) { System.out.println("Welcome to the system!"); System.out.print("Please select a game: "); inputS = console.nextLine(); } while (inputS.equals("spin")) { System.out.println("Welcome to the spin game! Please write 1 to spin. and -1 to exit back"); inputI = console.nextInt(); switch (inputI) { case 1: break; case -1: inputI = 0; inputS = ""; break; } } }

  • Advanced Linq query using into

    - by dilbert789
    I have this query that someone else wrote, it's over my head so I'm looking for some direction. What is happening currently is that it's taking numbers where there is a goal and no history entered, or history and no goal, this screws up the calculations as both goal and history for the same item are required on each. The three tables involved are: KPIType Goal KPIHistory What I need: Need all rows from KPIType. Need all goals where there is a matching KPIHistory row (Goal.KPItypeID == KPIHistory.KPItypeID ) into results 1 Need all kpiHistory’s where there is a matching Goal row (Goal.KPItypeID == KPIHistory.KPItypeID ) into results 2 Current query: var query = from t in dcs.KPIType.Where(k => k.ID <= 23) join g in dcs.Goal.Where(g => g.Dealership.ID == dealershipID && g.YearMonth >= beginDate && g.YearMonth <= endDate ) on t.ID equals g.KPITypeID into results1 join h in dcs.KPIHistory.Where(h => h.Dealership.ID == dealershipID && h.ForDate >= beginDate && h.ForDate <= endDate ) on t.ID equals h.KPIType.ID into results2 orderby t.DisplayOrder select new { t, Goal = results1, KPIHistory = results2 }; query.ToList().ForEach(q => { results.Add(q.t); }); Thanks, I'm happy to answer questions if more info needed.

  • Linq: Why won't Group By work when Querying DataSets?

    - by jrcs3
    While playing with Linq Group By statements using both DataSet and Linq-to-Sql DataContext, I get different results with the following VB.NET 10 code: #If IS_DS = True Then Dim myData = VbDataUtil.getOrdersDS #Else Dim myData = VbDataUtil.GetNwDataContext #End If Dim MyList = From o In myData.Orders Join od In myData.Order_Details On o.OrderID Equals od.OrderID Join e In myData.Employees On o.EmployeeID Equals e.EmployeeID Group By FullOrder = New With { .OrderId = od.OrderID, .EmployeeName = (e.FirstName & " " & e.LastName), .ShipCountry = o.ShipCountry, .OrderDate = o.OrderDate } _ Into Amount = Sum(od.Quantity * od.UnitPrice) Where FullOrder.ShipCountry = "Venezuela" Order By FullOrder.OrderId Select FullOrder.OrderId, FullOrder.OrderDate, FullOrder.EmployeeName, Amount For Each x In MyList Console.WriteLine( String.Format( "{0}; {1:d}; {2}: {3:c}", x.OrderId, x.OrderDate, x.EmployeeName, x.Amount)) Next With Linq2SQL, the grouping works properly, however, the DataSet code doesn't group properly. Here are the functions that I call to create the DataSet and Linq-to-Sql DataContext Public Shared Function getOrdersDS() As NorthwindDS Dim ds As New NorthwindDS Dim ota As New OrdersTableAdapter ota.Fill(ds.Orders) Dim otda As New Order_DetailsTableAdapter otda.Fill(ds.Order_Details) Dim eda As New EmployeesTableAdapter eda.Fill(ds.Employees) Return ds End Function Public Shared Function GetNwDataContext() As NorthwindL2SDataContext Dim s As New My.MySettings Return New NorthwindL2SDataContext(s.NorthwindConnectionString) End Function What am I missing? If it should work, how do I make it work, if it can't work, why not (what interface isn't implemented, etc)?
