• Google authorship verification issue

  I'm trying to get my blog content author verified so my face gets into the Google search results. I managed to achieve this a few weeks back - When testing my content in the Google authorship testing tool it reported that I had been verified and I could see my mug in the results. All I had to do was wait a couple of weeks before I started popping up in the search results (I think(?)). However, I seem to have thrown a spanner in the works. I set up Google apps for my domain and merged my old Google+ profile into my google apps account. This seemed to reset my Google+ profile (no biggy, since it was a new profile and only had 1 connection). I re-set up my G+ account and tied it all in to my blog and it's content. I am now seeing some very strange behaviour. If you take a look at one of my blog posts through the snippet testing tool: http://www.google.com/webmasters/tools/richsnippets?url=http%3A%2F%2Fblog.fraser-hart.co.uk%2Fjquery-fullscreen-background-slideshow%2F&html= You will see that it is not recognising me as an author. However, when you enter my profile URL (https://plus.google.com/108765138229426105004) into the "Authorship verification by email" input, you will see that it does in fact recognise it as verified. Now, if you try and verify the same page again, it reverts back to unverified. I thought I may have to just wait it out but this has been over a week now and previously (before I merged my profile) it happened instantaneously. Has anyone experienced this bizarre behaviour before? What is happening here? More importantly, is there anything I can do to resolve it? (Apologies for the long and boring question). Cheers!

• Google ranking, page crawl

  please don't mind me for asking this newbie question about Google ranking. I know that in order to get ranked the page has to be crawled by Google bots, I have had a page example of which I will get a better understanding of how the system works with Google. I have made a page on my website last month, it got indexed pretty quickly, then I found that it's in Google's page 15 on my keyword as a start, next day it made it to page 13, then after a week it was jumping back and forth in page 17/18 up to 20. Now a month passed by, when and it isn't listed in any position of that 'keyword' sometimes I will find it in page 30, but later I won't find it anywhere, keep happening this way these days. Even if it isn't listed in any page for my keyword if I do a search for "site:thepageadress" it will be listed which means I'm not penalized and my page is there for google to see, but it isn't in the search result for my keyword. But when I write "site:thepage_adress" and I hit "search tools" option and click on "Past day" or "past week" it isn't listed, it is only listed when I click on "Past month" which I think means that Google indexed the page, looked at it once when I published it, and never looked at it again, is this a fair statement? So two questions that comes to mind here. 1- Should Google keep looking at a page even if I haven't changed any info for it? and is this an indication for me that my page is doing fine? or is it normal that Google see's it once and thats it? 2- Why and how to fix the fact that my page keeps jumping back and forth in the ranking result for keyword, and sometimes it isn't even listed, what does that mean? Sorry for the long msg, I hope to god that somebody help me with this. Thank you!

• Filtering attachment types in Google Apps (free Google Business)

  We have Google apps in our company for mail delivery, our business can't pay the business version yet, however, we need to control the attachment types that employees download. We recently switched from another hosting provider who recomended us to plug Google Apps for mail when we moved the domain, we had a firewall before which was able to prevent certain file types to be downloaded. I know the business version has section for filtering mail (postini services). Is there a hack around my problem? Anyone ever had this problem? Thank you! UPDATE: The main problem is gmail apps uses ssl connection, can this be changed ? how can i get the firewall to filter files only allowing *.doc, *.xls y *.pdf.

• Google Chrome doesn't stay logged in to Google sites when using pinned tabs

  Despite checking "stay logged in" or the like on Gmail or Docs, Chrome refuses to do so when I close and re-open it with Google sites pinned. If they're not pinned, it works fine. The "Clear cookies and other site and plug-in data when I close my browser" checkbox in the settings is not checked, and I don't have any cookie exceptions. All settings are defaults. Nor is the incognito mode being used. This occurs on all my computers using Chrome. I have deleted my cookies file (%userprofile%\AppData\Local\Google\Chrome\User Data\Default\Cookies) with no effect (other than losing the logins that ordinarly work fine). Of note is that when I relaunch Chrome with Gmail pinned and it asks me to log in, doing so once will fail (does nothing; no errors), then it will work on the second attempt. If I refresh the window before doing so, it will work on the first attempt.

• Somehow Google considers a properly 301'd URL as 200 and is still indexing the new content in old page?

  We redirected all the old URL's to new ones properly using htaccess. The problem is Google, somehow is still finding content in the old page(which it shouldn't) and stores it in the cache rather than the new URL. For eg: Old Page- http://www.natures-energies.com/iching.htm New Page- http://www.natures-energies.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=760 If you type the old URL into the browser it redirects If you fetch the old URL as Googlebot in the webmaster tools the header says 301/permanently redirected. If I try to crawl as any other bot it still says 301 redirected. Even if you click the old link in Google it redirects to the new URL. Only in its cache it shows the old URL and moreover it shows the new content in it! I am stumped on how Google manages to grab the new content and puts in the old URL instead of the new one! One more interesting thing is that if I try a cache for the new page it shows the cache of the new content with old URL! Any help would be appreciated. I am at end of my wits. I think i have tried almost everything. Is there anything that I'm missing to see? You can use this search to find the old url's. • Is my site hacked, or does Google have problems? [duplicate]

  Possible Duplicate: Titles in Google results contain spammy prefixes I have a webshop online and I have some problems with redirecting from Google. Case 1 When I Google for my site at google.com in Iron SWR (safe Chrome version) and I click the first link I get the correct page. Case 2 When I Google for my site at google.nl in Iron SWR (safe Chrome version) and I click the first link Google will redirect me to a spam site. Case 3 When I Google for my site in Google Chrome and I click the first link Google will redirect me to a spam site. Case 4 When I Google for my site in FireFox and I click the first link Google will redirect me to a spam site. Case 5 When I Google for my site in Internet Explorer and I click the first link Google will redirect me a page that tells me the site is offline. HELP WHAT TO DO? I checked the .htaccess but this file is correct. I checked the index.php file but this one is also correct. What can I do? Hacked or does Google has trouble?

  google-app-engine-django/ claims to have an "App Engine compatible implementation of the Django authentication framework". Does this authentication work only with Google Accounts? Is it possible to register a user with a username/password and authenticate him/her with that username/password without that user having a Google account? I would appreciate any pointers to how this could be done with google-app-engine-django without Google Accounts authentication.

• How to change Chrome default search engine from regional one to google.com without loosing search suggestion

  I want to use google.com instead of google.com.hk as my default search engine in Chrome. I tried to use custom search engine, but they all break search suggestions, not even something like https://encrypted.google.com/search?q=%s&{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion} {google:originalQueryForSuggestion}{google:assistedQueryStats} {google:searchFieldtrialParameter}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding} which include parameters like acceptedSuggestion that seems to imply seach suggestions being enabled. But no, search suggestions still don't work. In addition. some websites suggest editing Local State file under Chrome's setting folder. I already tried that, and it didn't work at all. So, is there any way to use google.com as default search engine without breaking search suggestions?

• Changing location in Google Chrome when searching

  I've recently moved to the Czech Republic from Scotland and I can't find a way to permanently stop Google from automatically defaulting back to google.cz all the time. I've checked to ensure that all my google accounts and cookie based settings (e.g. Advanced Search Options) are set to English but it's still clearly doing an IP address lookup and disregarding everything else. The default Search Engine for Google Chrome (and switches to google.cz automatically): {google:baseURL}search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s I've tried hardcoding it to: http://www.google.com/search?{google:RLZ}{google:acceptedSuggestion}{google:originalQueryForSuggestion}sourceid=chrome&ie={inputEncoding}&q=%s this kind of works, but won't work for inline searching, i.e. I always have to press enter in order to get any results which is a bit annoying as I've gotten so used to AJAX style searching I can't have been the only one to get this issue?   I had a VMWare Fusion VM backed up on my home network file server (Ubuntu). I wanted to run it again, so I copied it back to my Macbook. When I tried to launch it in VMWare, I got an error message: No permission to access this virtual machine. Configuration file: /Users/craig/WinXP Clean + Scanner.vmwarevm/WinXP Pro Test.vmx The permissions look fine to me: The bundle directory is 777 The bundle files (including the listed .vmx) are all 666 User is craig (my current user); group is staff. I changed the group to wheel at the suggestion of this page, but that didn't help. Finder shows read & write for craig, staff, and everyone on the bundle directory The bundle dir is also not locked Finder also shows rw and unlocked for the .vmx file The parent directory is also rw & unlocked Disk Utility permissions check doesn't show any problems with any of the associated files It sure looks like I should have wide open access to run this VM; why is Fusion complaining?

• Cannot establish a network connect to VMWare Fusion VM

  I am running Snow Leopard 10.6.2 (not the server edition) with VMWare Fusion 3.0.0 and I trying to get my Ubuntu 9.10 x86_64 VM working. I am using a bridged connection, and I have an internet connection FROM the Ubuntu VM (I can download updates, ping websites, etc), but I cannot connect TO the Ubuntu box from any other device on my network. I am trying to get Mongrel up on the Ubuntu VM for some Rails stuff, but it's not working. I know Mongrel/Rails is not the problem because if I start the server on the Ubuntu VM, background the process, and then wget the index page, it works. I just cannot connect to the site from another IP. I have tried using a static IP and a DHCP IP configuration on the Ubuntu VM, neither work (for incoming connections, both work for outwards). I have port scanned the Ubuntu VM, and it appears that all ports are closed. However, the Ubuntu VM does respond to pings. I noticed a similar question here: http://serverfault.com/questions/99757/setting-up-a-bridged-network-with-vmware-fusion, but no answer. Any ideas?

• Cannot Install Bootcamp on Mac Fusion Drive

  I have two drive installed in my mid-2013 Macbook pro. It is running osx maverick. I set the two drives (an ssd and a regular HD) up using the fusion drive (following the diy fusion drive guides out there). I went ahead and created a 40gb partition to host my windows install. I removed the SSD, installed windows, then reinstalled the SSD. As soon as the ssd was placed back in the bootcamp partition stopped booting. I get a blinking cursor on a black screen. I checked out the partition info in disk utility and it appears that the windows partition is not marked bootable. Below is some info I managed to gather. • How does Google show a web page's recipe photo inline with the search results? How'd they do that?

  On Google, if you search for "chana dal recipe," in the middle of the search results page you'll see one search result with an image of the meal, taken from the underlying web page. It's the only one. Did: A) Google someone magically isolate the one image on the web page which summarized the recipe, --or-- B) did the webmaster/page author somehow designate and promote that particular image so that Google would inline it in the search results?

  I starting doing some experimentation toward making a browser userscript for Google searches and when opening the JavaScript console noticed something that strikes me as very fishy: The page at https://www.google.com.au/search?oq=XYZ&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8&q=XYZ displayed insecure content from http://50.116.62.47/js/chromeServerV45.js. The page at about:blank displayed insecure content from http://96.126.107.154/amz/google.php?callback=a&q=XYZ&country=US. (XYZ is a placeholder for whatever the search terms really was.) Is it likely that I've picked something like a drive-by browser infection? I've tried all kinds of searches for these URLs and other keywords but I've had no luck finding anything conclusive about whether they're malicious or what they are: 50.116.62.47 chromeServerV45.js 96.126.107.154 amz/google.php The only extensions I have installed are either widely used or written by myself. But something else is strange and I'm not sure if it's just a coincidence. I updated my Windows Chrome browser today to version 23.0.1271.64 m and now my Extensions tab as well as my settings tab are blank, so I can't try disabling my extesions. • Google chrome not accepting any security certificates

  I've recently developed a problem with Google Chrome that's really annoying. I'm using Firefox at the moment with no problems whatsoever and it's the same with IE, so it's safe to say this problem is specific to Chrome. The problem is that it's not accepting security certificates from certain sites. I suppose the best place to start would be google itself. I can't search. The google search page will load but when I type some search term into the search box and hit 'search' I get the message: "You attempted to reach www.google.com, but the server presented an invalid certificate. You cannot proceed because the website operator has requested heightened security for this domain." No matter what the search term is, this is the result. Also when I try to log in to facebook - same message. Youtube works and many other sites that I know present security certs so I'm baffled. I've searched and there are other people who have had similar issues but I can't find a solution anywhere. The most common answer I'm picking up for this is to "check your system time" but I can safely say that it's not my system time. If anyone knows what is going on, I'd very much appreciate being informed. It's not super urgent as I can use Firefox to access those places Chrome won't, but it IS super annoying because I can usually sort out issues like this in no time.

• Getting error: "This webpage is not available" for my chrome app's options page

  My CRX had the proper html page options.html in it, the manifest declares it properly (it shows up as a link on the chrome://extensions page) but when I click that link, Chrome gives the error: This webpage is not available The webpage at chrome-extension://invalid/ might be temporarily down or it may have moved permanently to a new web address. It says "invalid" but the app runs perfectly well (all the content scripts run, the background created a database and saved to it). Why would it show as invalid? Why doesn't it have the extensions' id? • How can I make kml data look like google maps?

  I have a program that generates a .shp file, and exports this as a kml file. I would like to be able to display my output using the standard google map 'map' style (gray background, yellow streets, etc) in google earth, or in the google earth api. Is there a style guide or method that I should be using? Any thoughts appreciated - I wasn't sure how to structure this question. Thank you.
