  • IIS7 is gzipping files but not serving the gzipped version.

    By following a number of helpful blog posts I have configured IIS to gzip my static files. I have even enabled Failed Request Tracing and filtered to the 200 status code, and I can see the successful compression events taking place as well as the finished headers, which look like this: Headers="Content-Type: text/css Content-Encoding: gzip Last-Modified: Mon, 04 Oct 2010 17:35:08 GMT Accept-Ranges: bytes ETag: "02ef37cea63cb1:0" Vary: Accept-Encoding Server: Microsoft-IIS/7.5 X-Powered-By: ASP.NET " However, when I test in Fiddler and Firefox the Content-Encoding header is missing, and the file is not gzipped. This is a similar issue to this question which was never resolved. IIS is generating the gzipped files which I can see in C:\inetpub\temp\IIS Temporary Compressed Files . Does anyone know how I can troubleshoot this?

    Hey, please help a newbie in Rails :) I have protect_from_forgery call (which is given by default) with no attributes in my ApplicationController class. Basically here's the code: class ApplicationController < ActionController::Base helper :all # include all helpers, all the time protect_from_forgery helper_method :current_user_session, :current_user filter_parameter_logging :password, :password_confirmation What I assume it should do is: it should prevent any POST requests without correct authenticity_token. But when I send post request with jQuery like the one below, it works fine (there's update statement that is executed in the database)! $.post($(this).attr("href"), { _method: "PUT", data: { test: true } }); I see in console that there's no authenticity_token among sent parameters, but request is still considered valid. Why is that?

    Is it possible to disable request validation for HttpHandlers? A bit of background - I've got an ASP.NET web application using an HttpHandler to receive the payment response from WorldPay. The IIS logs show that the handler is being called correctly from WorldPay, but the code inside the handler is never called. If I create a physical ASPX page and set ValidateRequest=false in the header, and put the same code in the Page_Load method, the code is called without any problems. This solves the problem, though I'd prefer to stick with using an HttpHandler for this as it's better suited for this type of functionality, rather than having an empty ASPX page, though this is dependent on being able to disable request validation. The web application is using ASP.NET 2.0 and the server is IIS6.

  • Java HTTP Request Occasionally Hangs

    Hello Everyone, For the majority of the time, my HTTP Requests work with no problem. However, occasionally they will hang. The code that I am using is set up so that if the request succeeds (with a response code of 200 or 201), then call screen.requestSucceeded(). If the request fails, then call screen.requestFailed(). When the request hangs, however, it does so before one of the above methods are called. Is there something wrong with my code? Should I be using some sort of best practice to prevent any hanging?   • What can cause a double page request?

    I am currently investigating a double request problem on my site. Not all the time, but sometimes, a requested page will in fact load twice...which is not a problem really until it is on a page with PHP that inserts stuff into my db on request (my tracking script). I have read that an empty src in an image tag, and an empty url() in a css background could potentially cause the page to be requested twice. However, I can't find any problems with those. Is there anything else that could be causing something like this?

    I am trying to re-install ASP.NET on IIS7 running in Win7/64, which magically stopped working all of as sudden. When I run aspnet_regiis -i, I get an error message that says Finished installing ASP.NET (4.0.30319). Setup has detected some errors during the operation. For details, please read the setup log file C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\Temp\ASPNETSetup_00031.log Looking at the log, it reports Failure Changing IIS ApplicationHost.config: IIS7Register failed with HRESULT 800700b7: 'Cannot create a file when that file already exists. ' The real problem surfaces when trying to access an ASP.NET web page from that server: HTTP Error 500.21 - Internal Server Error Handler "PageHandlerFactory-Integrated" has a bad module "ManagedPipelineHandler" in its module list and Most likely causes: Managed handler is used; however, ASP.NET is not installed or is not installed completely. There is a typographical error in the configuration for the handler module list. So it seems ASP.NET has NOT been properly re-installed. Now, I am aware of the alleged one-and-only remedy for this, repeated all over the Web, and referenced for example here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/dougste/archive/2010/09/06/errors-installing-asp-net-4-0.aspx Except that the proposed solution does not work for me. I have expanded the %windir% macros within isapiCgiRestriction section for .NET 4.0 - and aspnet_regiis still fails for me. Any other ideas?

    Greeting, I have Windows Server 2008 Server Core. I want to configure this server to host php websites using IIS 7. Server Error 500 - Internal server error. There is a problem with the resource you are looking for, and it cannot be displayed. I check the even log and I found these details too: Activation context generation failed for "C:\php\php-cgi.exe". Dependent Assembly Microsoft.VC90.CRT,processorArchitecture="x86",publicKeyToken="1fc8b3b9a1e18e3b",type="win32",version="9.0.21022.8" could not be found. Please use sxstrace.exe for detailed diagnosis. I search about this error and I found a solution for it but which is to install Microsoft Visual C++ 2008 SP1 Redistributable Package (x86). I installed but still I’m getting same error. Please help me to solve this problem and let me know if you want to know more info about my issue.

  • Accessing Request object from custom JSP tags

    I'm trying to make a set of custom tags that encapsulate form elements (markup and validation). There's a method given to retrieve the "Out" object easily: JspWriter out = getJspContext().getOut(); However I can't figure out how to get the request object. I want to be able to directly access the submitted form values from within the Tag class so that I can validate each field. The documentation is quite sparse, so I thought maybe I could use the JspContext object to somehow get the request attributes. But I don't understand the different scopes. System.out.println(getJspContext().findAttribute("field1")); always prints "null". Enumeration e = getJspContext().getAttributeNamesInScope(1); Looping through and printing out the enumeration just gives me a list of classes that don't exist: javax.servlet.jsp.jspOut javax.servlet.jsp.jspPage javax.servlet.jsp.jspSession javax.servlet.jsp.jspApplication javax.servlet.jsp.jspPageContext javax.servlet.jsp.jspConfig javax.servlet.jsp.jspResponse javax.servlet.jsp.jspRequest So is this even possible? If not, could anyone point me to a tag library that deals with form display and validation? I searched the internet for a couple hours and it seemed every single one was discontinued and I couldn't download them. Either that or suggest a better alternative for handling forms.

    What's the standard way of passing and processing an array in an HTTP request in .NET? I have a solution, but I don't know if it's the best approach. You can get the values easily by splitting the string: public void ProcessRequest(HttpContext context) { string[] users = context.Request.Form["user"].Split(','); } So, I already have an answer to my problem: assign multiple values to the same parameter name, assume the ASHX handler receives it as a comma-delimited string, and split the string. My question is whether or not this is how it's typically done in .NET. What's the standard practice for this? Is there a simpler way to grab the multiple values than assuming that the value is comma-delimited and calling Split() on it? Is this how arrays are typically passed in .NET, or is XML used instead? Does anyone have any insight on whether or not this is the best approach?

    Hi all, So, I am writing a code to get a document from the internet. The document size is around 200 KB. However, the output is: "Error: 500 read timeout". When I checked the link externally, the data is being downloaded in under 5 seconds. I even changed the timeout to 1000s, but it still didn't work. How should I go about finding more information related to the response. The size of the file (around 200KB) is also not too great to warrant a read timeout. The server is also not a busy one, didn't give a problem whenever I checked the link on the browser. Thanks.

    I'm having a problem very similar to IIS 7.5 FTP IIS Manager Users Login Fail (530) on Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard. I have created an FTP site and IIS Manager user but am having trouble logging in. I could really do with getting this working with the IIS Manager user rather than by creating a new system user since I'm fairly restricted with those accounts. Here is the output when connecting locally through command prompt: C:\Windows\system32>ftp localhost Connected to MYSERVER. 220 Microsoft FTP Service User (MYSERVER:(none)): MyFtpLogin 331 Password required for MyFtpLogin. Password: *** 530-User cannot log in. Win32 error: Logon failure: unknown user name or bad password. Error details: An error occured during the authentication process. 530 End Login failed. I have followed the guide to configure ftp with iis manager authentication in iis 7 and Adding FTP Publishing to a Web Site in IIS 7 Things I have done and checked: The FTP Service is installed (along with FTP Extensibility).     I have an ASP.NET MVC 2 application, which has an Application_Error event handler in global.asax. In this, I'm detecting the case where the Exception type is HttpException and the HTTP code is 404, and redirecting to my own 404-handling page. This works fine on my Cassini development server, but now I'm trying to move it over to my production server which has IIS7. When I request a non-existent URL, IIS7 is showing its own 404 page, and so far as I can tell, my Application_Error method is never called. How do I fix that?

  • Intercept page request behind firewall return altered content with php and apache

    I'm providing free wifi service and need an ad to be added to all page requests. Currently I have a router forwarding all http requests to an apache server, which redirects all requests to an index.php page. The index.php page reads the request, fetches the content from the appropriate site, and edits the content to include the ad. The problem is that all images and css files etc. cannot be accessed, because when the browser tries to get the image <img src="site.com/image.jpg"> it's just redirected back to the index.php. I can change settings for the router (running dd-wrt) and the webserver (apache2 and php 5.2). Is there a solution that allows content to be edited before returning to the client, and allows css and images to be accessed?

Is there a better way to do this as in a way to fillin the text body box of gmail compose section. Or some way to open the page and have it prefilled with javascript some how...
