• Jquery to hightlight elements in a list

    - by John
    Hi I have a ol list:

item 1

item 2

item 3

item 4

item 5

item 6

and a set of checkboxes which correspond to the class names group 1 group 2 group 3 What I want to happen is that when a user clicks on a checkbox to 'tick' it, any li rows which are not checked are fadedOut (change opacity) and then any rows which have the class which matches the value of the checkbox are highlighter (background colour changed to yellow). So for example if group 3 was clicked, item 4 and item 6 would be highlighted. Then if group 2 was clicked item 3 would be highlighted (item 4 and 6 would remain highlighted). If group 2 was un-ticked, item 3 would become faded out although item 4 and 6 would remain highlighted. The code I have at the moment is: $('input').click(function(){ input = $(this); classVal = "." + input.val(); elements = $(classVal ); if (input.is(':checked')) { elements.css("background-color", "#FFFF00"); } else { elements.css("background-color", ""); } }); This handles the highlighting but does not do the fading of the unchecked elements. I know I can change the opacity using css("opacity", 0.33) or fadeTo("slow", 0.33) but not sure how to handle this in the code and where to put it. If any of my other code can be tidied up also please let me know Thanks

  • using 'or' operator not working for menu

    - by John Wilkes
    In my code here, I have a CSS class called "active" which I use if the $_GET['page'] == tutorials, php, mysql, etc... The problem is, even if the 'page' variable is not equal to any of these values, the Tutorials button in this case is still active for some reason. Any ideas why this would be happening? Am I using the 'or' (||) operand incorrectly? <?php if($_GET['page'] == 'tutorials' || 'php' || 'mysql' || 'html' || 'css' || 'js') { ?>
<?php } else { ?>
<?php } ?> Tutorials

PHP

MySQL

HTML

CSS

JS

  • need advice for small css issue [migrated]

    - by JaPerk14
    I have a small design problem in my css, and I'd like to know if someone could check it out for me. The design problem is in the rollover effect of my horizontal navigation. There seems to be some sort of added margin or padding, but I'm having trouble finding the problem in the css. I will paste the code I'm using below, so you can see for yourself. You won't be able to see the problem until you rollover the navigation list items. HTML:

Link #1

Link #2

Link #3

Link #4

Link #5

CSS: .Horiznav { background: #1F00CA; border-top: solid 1px #fff; border-bottom: solid 1px #fff; } .Horiznav ul { font-family: Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif; font-weight: bold; color: #fff; text-Align: center; margin: 0; padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; } .Horiznav ul li { display: inline; } .Horiznav ul li a { padding-top: 5px; padding-bottom: 5px; color: #fff; text-decoration: none; border-right: 1px solid #fff; } .Horiznav ul li a:hover { background: #16008D; color: #fff; } #active a { border-left: 1px solid #fff; }

  • Content Container Overlaps Menu?

    - by Harold
    I'm currently working on a Joomla template using CSS divs. I have a header set up with our logo image in a div floated to the left, an adspace floated to the right, and the menu bar on the bottom. My content is divided into three div columns that are contained in "container.": the left column is floated left, the center is not floated, and the right is floated to the right. The problem is the "container" for the three content divs is overlapping the menu, as you can see in this image: http://www.ndpstudentcouncil.org/images/shot1.png Here's the HTML code: >

id="wrapper">
>

>
<jdoc:include > type="modules" name="Ad Space #1" /> > This will be the location for our > "newsflash" items.
> >
class="mattblackmenu"> >
>
Home
>
DHTML
>
rel="ddsubmenu2">CSS
>
Forums
>
rel="ddsubmenu3">Web Tools
>
>  >
>
Item 1a
>
Item 2a
>
Item Folder 3a >
>
Sub Item 3.1a
>
>
>
Item 4a
>
Item Folder 5a >
>
Sub Item 5.1a
>
Item Folder 5.2a >
>
Sub Item 5.2.1a
>
Sub Item 5.2.2a
>
>
>
>  >
>
Item 6a
>

>

> <jdoc:include type="modules" name="left" />

id="middle"> > <jdoc:include type="component" />

> <jdoc:include type="modules" name="right" /> >
>
>
<jdoc:include > type="modules" name="footer" /> > © 2010 NDP Student Council
/>Website Development Subcommitee >

The CSS: > #backdrop { width:100%; height:100%; background: #FFFFFF > url(../images/gradient.jpg) repeat-x; > } > > #wrapper { margin:auto; width:95%; height:95%; border-right:thick solid > black; border-bottom:thick solid > black; border-top:thick solid black; > border-left:thick solid black; > background-color:white; } > > #header { height:131px; width:100%; background-color: #FFFFFF; > border-bottom:thick solid black; } > > #topimage { float:left; height:131px; width:63%; > background-image: > url("../images/ndps2.png"); > background-repeat:no-repeat; } > > #adspace1 { float:right; width:27%; height:131px; } > > #container { clear:both; } > #left{ width:20%; float:left; padding:5px; text-align:center; } > > #middle{ width:60%; padding:5px; text-align:center; } > > #right{ float:right; width:20%; padding:5px; text-align:right; } > #footer { border-top:thick solid black; width:100%; > text-align:center; } .clear { > clear:both; } Here is the CSS for the menu itself, which is from DynamicDrive.com: > .mattblackmenu ul{ margin: 0; padding: > 0; font: bold 12px Verdana; > list-style-type: none; border-bottom: > 1px solid gray; background: #414141; > overflow: hidden; width: 100%; > clear:both; } > > .mattblackmenu li{ display: inline; > margin: 0; } > > .mattblackmenu li a{ float: left; > display: block; text-decoration: none; > margin: 0; padding: 6px 8px; /*padding > inside each tab*/ border-right: 1px > solid white; /*right divider between > tabs*/ color: white; background: > #414141; Thanks for the help!

  • What’s New for Oracle Commerce? Executive QA with John Andrews, VP Product Management, Oracle Commerce

    - by Katrina Gosek
    Oracle Commerce was for the fifth time positioned as a leader by Gartner in the Magic Quadrant for E-Commerce. This inspired me to sit down with Oracle Commerce VP of Product Management, John Andrews to get his perspective on what continues to make Oracle a leader in the industry and what’s new for Oracle Commerce in 2013. Q: Why do you believe Oracle Commerce continues to be a leader in the industry? John: Oracle has a great acquisition strategy – it brings best-of-breed technologies into the product fold and then continues to grow and innovate them. This is particularly true with products unified into the Oracle Commerce brand. Oracle acquired ATG in late 2010 – and then Endeca in late 2011. This means that under the hood of Oracle Commerce you have market-leading technologies for cross-channel commerce and customer experience, both designed and developed in direct response to the unique challenges online businesses face. And we continue to innovate on capabilities core to what our customers need to be successful – contextual and personalized experience delivery, merchant-inspired tools, and architecture for performance and scalability. Q: It’s not a slow moving industry. What are you doing to keep the pace of innovation at Oracle Commerce? John: Oracle owes our customers the most innovative commerce capabilities. By unifying the core components of ATG and Endeca we are delivering on this promise. Oracle Commerce is continuing to innovate and redefine how commerce is done and in a way that drive business results and keeps customers coming back for experiences tailored just for them. Our January and May 2013 releases not only marked the seventh significant releases for the solution since the acquisitions of ATG and Endeca, we also continue to demonstrate rapid and significant progress on the unification of commerce and customer experience capabilities of the two commerce technologies. Q: Can you tell us what was notable about these latest releases under the Oracle Commerce umbrella? John: Specifically, our latest product innovations give businesses selling online the ability to get to market faster with more personalized commerce experiences in the following ways: Mobile: the latest Commerce Reference Application in this release offers a wider range of examples for online businesses to leverage for iOS development and specifically new iPad reference capabilities. This release marks the first release of the iOS Universal application that serves both the iPhone and iPad devices from a single download or binary. Business users can now drive page content management and layout of search results and category pages, as well as create additional storefront elements such as categories, facets / dimensions, and breadcrumbs through Experience Manager tools. Cross-Channel Commerce: key commerce platform capabilities have been added to support cross-channel commerce, including an expanded inventory model to maintain inventory for stores, pickup in stores and Web-based returns. Online businesses with in-store operations can now offer advanced shipping options on the web and make returns and exchange logic easily available on the web. Multi-Site Capabilities: significant enhancements to the Commerce Platform multi-site architecture that allows business users to quickly launch and manage multiple sites on the same cluster and share data, carts, and other components. First introduced in 2010, with this latest release business users can now partition or share customer profiles, control users’ site-based access, and manage personalization assets using site groups. Internationalization: continued language support and enhancements for business user tools as well and search and navigation. Guided Search now supports 35 total languages with 11 new languages (including Danish, Arabic, Norwegian, Serbian Cyrillic) added in this release. Commerce Platform tools now include localized support for 17 locales with 4 new languages (Danish, Portuguese (European), Finnish, and Thai). No development or customization is required in order for business users to use the applications in any of these supported languages. Business Tool Experience: valuable new Commerce Merchandising features include a new workflow for making emergency changes quickly and increased visibility into promotions rules and qualifications in preview mode. Oracle Commerce business tools continue to become more and more feature rich to provide intuitive, easy- to-use (yet powerful) capabilities to allow business users to manage content and the shopping experience. Commerce & Experience Unification: demonstrable unification of commerce and customer experience capabilities include – productized cartridges that provide supported integration between the Commerce Platform and Experience Management tools, cross-channel returns, Oracle Service Cloud integration, and integrated iPad application. The mission guiding our product development is to deliver differentiated, personalized user experiences across any device in a contextual manner – and to give the business the best tools to tune and optimize those user experiences to meet their business objectives. We also need to do this in a way that makes it operationally efficient for the business, keeping the overall total cost of ownership low – yet also allows the business to expand, whether it be to new business models, geographies or brands. • Creating a multi-column rollover image gallery with HTML 5

    - by nikolaosk
    I know it has been a while since I blogged about HTML 5. I have two posts in this blog about HTML 5. You can find them here and here.I am creating a small content website (only text,images and a contact form) for a friend of mine.He wanted to create a rollover gallery.The whole concept is that we have some small thumbnails on a page, the user hovers over them and they appear enlarged on a designated container/placeholder on a page. I am trying not to use Javascript scripts when I am using effects on a web page and this is what I will be doing in this post. Well some people will say that HTML 5 is not supported in all browsers. That is true but most of the modern browsers support most of its recommendations. For people who still use IE6 some hacks must be devised.Well to be totally honest I cannot understand why anyone at this day and time is using IE 6.0.That really is beyond me.Well, the point of having a web browser is to be able to ENJOY the great experience that the WE? offers today. Two very nice sites that show you what features and specifications are implemented by various browsers and their versions are http://caniuse.com/ and http://html5test.com/. At this times Chrome seems to support most of HTML 5 specifications.Another excellent way to find out if the browser supports HTML 5 and CSS 3 features is to use the Javascript lightweight library Modernizr.In this hands-on example I will be using Expression Web 4.0.This application is not a free application. You can use any HTML editor you like.You can use Visual Studio 2012 Express edition. You can download it here. In order to be absolutely clear this is not (and could not be ) a detailed tutorial on HTML 5. There are other great resources for that.Navigate to the excellent interactive tutorials of W3School.Another excellent resource is HTML 5 Doctor.For the people who are not convinced yet that they should invest time and resources on becoming experts on HTML 5 I should point out that HTML 5 websites will be ranked higher than others. Search engines will be able to locate better the content of our site and its relevance/importance since it is using semantic tags. Let's move now to the actual hands-on example. In this case (since I am mad Liverpool supporter) I will create a rollover image gallery of Liverpool F.C legends. I create a folder in my desktop. I name it Liverpool Gallery.Then I create two subfolders in it, large-images (I place the large images in there) and thumbs (I place the small images in there).Then I create an empty .html file called LiverpoolLegends.html and an empty .css file called style.css.Please have a look at the HTML Markup that I typed in my fancy editor package below

Liverpool Legends Gallery

A page dedicated to Liverpool Legends

Do hover over the images with the mouse to see the full picture

It is very easy to follow the markup. Please have a look at the new doctype and the new semantic tag
. I have 3 columns and I place my images in there.There is a class called "large".I will use this class in my CSS code to hide the large image when the mouse is not on (hover) an image Make sure you validate your HTML 5 page in the validator found hereHave a look at the CSS code below that makes it all happen.img { border:none;}#column1 { position: absolute; top: 30; left: 100; }li { margin: 15px; list-style-type:none;}#column1 a img.large { position: absolute; top: 0; left:700px; visibility: hidden;}#column1 a:hover { background: white;}#column1 a:hover img.large { visibility:visible;}#column2 { position: absolute; top: 30; left: 195px; }li { margin: 5px; list-style-type:none;}#column2 a img.large { position: absolute; top: 0; left:510px; margin-left:0; visibility: hidden;}#column2 a:hover { background: white;}#column2 a:hover img.large { visibility:visible;}#column3 { position: absolute; top: 30; left: 400px; width:108px;}li { margin: 5px; list-style-type:none;}#column3 a img.large { width: 260px; height:260px; position: absolute; top: 0; left:315px; margin-left:0; visibility: hidden;}#column3 a:hover { background: white;}#column3 a:hover img.large { visibility:visible;}?n the first line of the CSS code I set the images to have no border.Then I place the first column in the page and then remove the bullets from the list elements.Then I use the large CSS class to create a position for the large image and hide it.Finally when the hover event takes place I make the image visible.I repeat the process for the next two columns. I have tested the page with IE 10 and the latest versions of Opera,Chrome and Firefox.Feel free to style your HTML 5 gallery any way you want through the magic of CSS.I did not bother adding background colors and borders because that was beyond the scope of this post. Hope it helps!!!!

  • Superfish Supersubs
menu items width

    - by Byron Cobb
    I've been stuck on this one for some time now and would really appreciate some assistance. I'm developing a superfish horizontal dropdown menu. I would like to know how to, using supersubs, set the width of the dropdown menu items to that of the largest items width in the drop down. The default is : $('ul.sf-menu').supersubs({ minWidth: 40, maxWidth: 41, extraWidth: 1 }).superfish(); I would like something like : $('ul.sf-menu').supersubs({ minWidth: 40, **maxWidth: auto or 100%**, extraWidth: 1 }).superfish(); I would appreciate any help at all. Regards, Byron

  • Forcing an item to remain in place in a jQuery UI Sortable list

    - by calumbrodie
    I've set up a jQuery sortable list but I need to be able to keep some items in the sortable 'fixed' in place and for the other items to sort around them. I thought that there would be built in methods to achieve this, alas this is not the case. I'm able to set up the list and not include the items in question:

apples

oranges

bananas

pineapples

grapes

pears

mango

  This stops me from drag/dropping these items but they still move if the items around them are sorted. There may be a way to do this using the many callbacks that this method has but I've been unable to work this out. Maybe this method would be a good addition to the UI Sortable options?

  • Array of paths to html lists

    - by dmsk
    I wrote a recursive function, which returns an array with the paths to all files/folders in a given path. An array is already sorted and returns the exact information i want, but i struggle to display it properly in html lists. Array_of_paths = ( [0] => /path/to/folderA/ [1] => /path/to/folderA/subfolderAA/ [2] => /path/to/folderB/ [3] => /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/ [4] => /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/fileBB.txt [5] => /path/to/folderB/fileB.txt [6] => /path/to/folderC/ ... ) I want to put these paths in
,
tags to see something like this:

/path/to/folderA/

/path/to/folderA/folderAA/

/path/to/folderB

/path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/

/path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/fileBB.txt

/path/to/folderB/fileB.txt

/path/to/folderC/

= /path/to/folderA/ /path/to/folderA/folderAA/ /path/to/folderB /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/ /path/to/folderB/subfolderBB/fileBB.txt /path/to/folderB/fileB.txt /path/to/folderC/ I managed to find a couple of similars questions, but the answers were in Ruby language. So, what's the problem solving idea behind this?

  • How to drag items between 2 sorted lists with jQuery?

  • A question about John Resig's Simple Javascript Inheritance.

    - by Zippo
    I'm using this simple code: http://ejohn.org/blog/simple-javascript-inheritance/ Using this "library", I made this simple class: var Person = Class.extend({ init: function(openningSentence) { this.say(openningSentence); }, say: function(words) { alert(words); } }); The problem with this class, is that I can't call a function using the variable "this" (line 3 in the code gives an error: unknown method "say"). Does anybody knoes if there's a solution for this problem? Btw - I'm using jquery, so if there's a jquery-based solution It'll be great :)

  • Is it legal to stub the #class method of a Mock object when using RSpec in a Ruby on Rails applicati

    - by MiniQuark
    I would like to stub the #class method of a mock object: describe Letter do before(:each) do @john = mock("John") @john.stub!(:id).and_return(5) @john.stub!(:class).and_return(Person) # is this ok? @john.stub!(:name).and_return("John F.") Person.stub!(:find).and_return(@john) end it.should "have a valid #to field" do letter = Letter.create!(:to=>@john, :content => "Hello John") letter.to_type.should == @john.class.name letter.to_id.should == @john.id end [...] end On line 5 of this program, I stub the #class method, in order to allow things like @john.class.name. Is this the right way to go? Will there be any bad side effect? Edit: The Letter class looks like this: class Letter < ActiveRecord::Base belongs_to :to, :polymorphic => true [...] end I wonder whether ActiveRecord gets the :to field's class name with to.class.name or by some other means. Maybe this is what the class_name method is ActiveRecord::Base is for?

  • cycle through four list elements, applying an "active" class.

    - by Derek Adair
    Hi, I would like to cycle through four li elements that all contain tags, setting the appropriate class to "active" and remove the "active" class. I'm having a bit of trouble figuring out how to achieve this via jQuery. HTML:

jquery: var index = 0; $("#rightScroll").click(function(){ if(index != 3){ index++; } else { index = 0; } //this part is untested, it should work though $("a.active").removeClass("active"); //this is where I am getting hung up //I need something like... $.each("li.buttons", function(i){ if(i == index){ $(this).addClass("active"); } }); }); $("#leftScroll").click(function(){ if(index != 0){ index--; } else { index = 3; } $.each("li.items", function(i){ if(i == index){ $(this).addClass("active"); } }); }); any help would be greatly appreciated. Thankyou.

Here is the data structure from PHP: a nested array of arrays : Array ( [0] => Array ( [fullpath] => ../foil/alphanumeric/ [depth] => 0 ) [1] => Array ( [fullpath] => ../foil/alphanumeric/letters/ [depth] => 1 ) [2] => Array ( [fullpath] => ../foil/alphanumeric/numbers/ [depth] => 1 ) [3] => Array ( [fullpath] => ../foil/alphanumeric/numbers/symbols/ [depth] => 2 ) ) Basically, I took the excellent answer from this question on SO, modified it a bit : global $fullpaths; // $fullpaths contains the above data structure in print_r $result = ''; $currentDepth = -1; while(!empty($fullpaths)) { $currentNode = array_shift($fullpaths); if($currentNode['depth'] > $currentDepth) { $result .='
'; } if($currentNode['depth'] < $currentDepth) { $result .=str_repeat('
', $currentDepth - $currentNode['depth']); } $result .= '
'. $currentNode['fullpath'] .'
'; $currentDepth = $currentNode['depth']; if(empty($fullpaths)) { $result .= str_repeat('
', 1 + $currentDepth); } } print $result; and got the following output:

../foil/alphanumeric/

../foil/alphanumeric/letters/

../foil/alphanumeric/numbers/

../foil/alphanumeric/numbers/symbols/

Which cannot be accepted by the mcdropdown jQuery plugin, it expects something like this:
'Alphanumeric'

'Letters'

'Numbers'

'Symbols'

To be frank, I don't quite understand how the answer from that question works, I have been trying to modify that solution to cope with my situation, but still failed. Any help and suggestion is much appropriated in advance.

  • menu with: hover, click, class change and ajax

    - by abdullah kahraman
    Hello! I have made a menu that adds class "active" on hover to each li, and removes the class when hovered out, except on li s that has a class "active" already. So far, this is done. However I have another .click() on every li that loads a content to somewhere with ajax. The problem starts here, when I click, I want to add class "active" to clicked element and remove class from all of them. I add the class, but the li that had class "active" before the click doesn't get "active" when hovered, I think the "active" class is not removed from it? Can anyone help?

home

news

blog

gallery

about

contact

Here is the jquery: $("#menu").find("a").not(".active").each(function(){ $(this).hover(function(){ alert($(this)); $(this).addClass("active"); },function(){ $(this).not(".clicking").removeClass("active"); }); }); $("#homeLink").click(function(){ var myThis=$(this); $("#ajaxP").fadeIn("slow"); $("#normalcontent").hide("slow").load("index.php #normalcontent").slideDown("slow"); $("#primarycontainer").hide("slow").load("index.php #primarycontainer").slideDown("slow"); $("#ajaxP").fadeOut("normal"); $("#menu").find("a").each(function(){ $(this).unbind('mouseover').unbind("mouseout"); $(this).removeClass("active clicking"); }); myThis.addClass("active clicking"); return false; });

    - by janoChen
    When a anchor is hovered in this menu it should turn its background white. It works in Firefox and Chrome but in IE the words just disappear and the background doesn't turn white. CSS: #lang { float: right; padding: 0 0 0 0; margin: 50px 25px 0 0; width: 285px; } #lang li { font-size: 10px; float: right; } #lang li a#english, #spanish, #chinese { color: #FFF; float: right; padding-right: 20px; padding-top: 2px; padding-bottom: 2px; width: 200px; /* ie fix */ } #lang li a#english { padding-left: 231px; } #lang li a#spanish { padding-left: 228px; } #lang li a#chinese { padding-left: 219px; } #lang li a:hover { background: #FFF; color: #444; } #lang li.current a { background: #FFF !important; color: #444 !important; cursor: default; } HTML:
<li <?php if($lang_file=='lang.en.php') {echo 'class="current"';} ?>>english
<li <?php if($lang_file=='lang.es.php') {echo 'class="current"';} ?>>español
<li <?php if($lang_file=='lang.zh-tw.php') {echo 'class="current"';} ?>>??(??)
<li <?php if($lang_file=='lang.zh-cn.php') {echo 'class="current"';} ?>>??(??)
