  • Looking for Opinions and Sugestions on my Website. (General Question)

    - by MrEnder
    I am looking for general opinions and suggestions about the site in whole. Its ok I don't mind hearing where I went wrong on anything. I'm still learning. All tips and pointers on any subject relating are highly welcome. If you are going to make a suggestion and post a snippet or code please explain how it works in detail. The site was design as a interface to display the labs I have to do in my college (the labs are all basic things that I'm way beyond). So I decided to take it all to the next level with this. The link is http://opentech.durhamcollege.ca/~intn2201/brittains/labs/ It is 100% designed by me with the exception of the icons. (I could not think of anything better to draw) There is no specific area of the site I want suggestions or opinions on this is a general question. You may answer about the site in whole or an area of the coding just please specify. If you have any questions related to my site or code you may ask them as well. Thank you for your time and any comments Shelby

    Hi, i want to do like the following format: So this is what i did : <style> .toptitle{ font-size:14px; } .toprating{ background:yellow; float:left; font-size:12px; } .topcontainer{ border-bottom:1px #CCCCCC solid; } </style> <div class="topcontainer"> <div class="toprating">256</div> <div class="toptitle">Lorem Ipsum...</div> </div> <br> <div class="topcontainer"> <div class="toprating">256</div> <div class="toptitle">Lorem Ipsum...</div> </div> Now, in firefox,chrome,safari, this works perfectly, but in IE the title goes about 30 px down. Is there a mistake in the code, or is there any better code to do this?

  • What's making my page extend slightly beyond the viewport? [CSS]

    - by Jack W-H
    Basically I'm a tad confused. You'll see at http://furnace.howcode.com , in the second column, the bottom scrollbar button is extended slightly beyond the end of the viewport. I'm pretty confused as I've been examining the CSS and can't find anything that's causing this. Can you have a look? It's probably something simple that I've just missed! :) Screenshot:

  • Is there any Inheritance problem with <table> and it's elements, like <form> elements?

    - by metal-gear-solid
    Is there any Inheritance problem with <table>, tr th td tbody thead tfoot also like form elements? In IE 6+ and FF 3+ with Strict doctype. Tables also have inheritance turned off in some browsers. You may notice that in some browsers, your tables’ text will be larger, clunkier and not so pretty. This is also due to inheritance. Many browsers give tables their own style. It's mentioned here http://www.komodomedia.com/blog/2006/10/css-trickery-part-5-inheritance/ For which browsers author is talking about, it's not mentioned I tested on FF 3.6 and IE7 but unable to find is there any issue. I just wanted to be sure before adding this in my CSS reset. Do i really need this? table { font-family:inherit; font-size:inherit; font-weight:inherit; }

  • For div to extend full height

    - by Shamil
    Hello, is there a method I can use for a div to extend to full height? I've got a sticky footer in it as well. Here's the web page: http://www.radonsystems.net. The middle bit I'm talking about is the white div, midcontent which has CSS values: .midcontent{ width:85%; margin:0 auto; padding:10px 20px; padding-top:0; background-color:#FFF; overflow:hidden; min-height:100%; max-width:968px; height:100%; } So yes, obviously height:100% didn't work. Additionally, ALL parent containers have height set. Here's the general structure <body> <div id="wrap"> <div id="main"> <div class="headout"> <div class="headimg"></div> </div> <div class="midcontainer"></div> </div> </div> <div id="footer"> <div class="footer"></div> </div>

  • How to make Dropdown menu using :hover on <a> in place of hover on <ul>?

    - by metal-gear-solid
    IE 6 only support :Hover on <a> then can we make css drop down using :hover on <a> http://htmldog.com/articles/suckerfish/dropdowns/ This example use JavaScript to add hover on LI 'sfhover' class to li elements in the 'nav' id'd ul element when they are 'moused over' and removes it, using a regular expression, when 'moused out'. So now we've got the Suckerfish pumping out new classes, the next step is to simply duplicate the :hover selector with 'sfhover' class selectors:

  • CSS Experts required - problems with Z-Index stack in my page design

    - by Jack W-H
    Howdy y'all! Basically I'm having some problems with Z-Index. Although I'm not amazing at CSS I would reckon I was reasonably good, but really can't work this out. You'll see at the URL... http://howcode.com/code/ ... that my problem is that links in the returned 'Popular' results aren't clickable or anything. I've concluded this is due to their Z-Index being messed up. I had to fiddle and tweak with Z-Index to get the tabs - Popular, Top Rated, Featured etc. - to show above the codebg div. When I adjusted the Z-Index so that the results were definitely on top, they acted as normal - text could be selected, the ratings images hovered, etc. etc. However the downside to this was that my Popular, Top Rated, Featured tabs were all placed BENEATH the background image for the returned results. If anyone can post a workaround or alteration to my CSS that would be much appreciated. Please don't forget this is a test site and design and any other URLs are likely not to work, I haven't uploaded any database configs yet or whatever! Attached are a couple of screenshots to clarify what I mean: This is what I WANT to happen (not that in actual fact in this screenshots link aren't clickable, just to demo my point though): This is what DOES happen when I adjust the Z-Index properties (I don't want this!): Thanks y'all!
