  In XAML you can do <TabItem Selector.Selected="myEvenHandler"></TabItem> to set the event handler for when that tab is selected. How can I do the exact same thing dynamically. I would prefer not to use the SelectionChanged event of TabControl if I can help it. Clearly there is a Selected event on the TabItem I just cannot seem to get at it in code. Here's what I'd like to do.   I need to attach a single event handler to multiple DOM elements using jQuery. I'm currently achieving this using jQuery's each() method. See below: $([elm1, elm2, elm3]).each(function() { this.click(eventHandler); }); I was wondering if there is a way to do this without using the each method and closure. I thought I would be able to do something like: $(elm1, elm2, elm3).click(eventHandler); This kind of statement works using Prototype.js but not in jQuery.The reason I ask the question is because after using both Prototype.js and jQuery I have found that jQuery requires simpler statements to achieve the same tasks in almost every area so I assume there must be a better way of doing this?

  Hello, On one side, in Vb.Net when you add an event handler to an object the created method is named: <NameOfTheObject>_<NameOfTheMethod>. As I like to have consistent syntax I always follow this rule when creating event handlers by hand. On the other side when I create private variables I prefix them with m_ as this is a common thing used by the community, in C# people use to put _ at the beginning of a variable but this is no CLS compliant. At the end, when I create event handlers for events raised by private variables I end with Subs like m_myVariable_MyEvent. Code Analysis (Fx Cop) is complainig about this way of naming because the method does not start with uppercase and because the _, so the question is: What naming standards do you follow when creating event handlers by hand that follow the Fxcop rules if any?   Hello everyone, I am building a Httphandler following these instructions here It manipulates HTTP POST and HTTP GET. I have a client with two buttons two POST and GET. After i've tested and happy everythings working I move it from localhost to IIS. Now when I do this I get an exception in the POST handler code. How on earth can I debug this code line by line? I managed to do this awhile ago, I thought it was by attaching to process but I can't work it out. I can emulate GET just by typing address in browser, post im not sure about. I've tried telnetting and sending it from there but haven't had any luck.

I have used event handlers like this in the past many times, and never realized that they can cause, or have caused, memory leaks in my applications. How does this work (meaning, why does this actually cause a memory leak) ? How can I fix this problem ? Is using -= to the same event handler enough ? Are there common design patterns or best practices for handling situations like this ? Example : How am I supposed to handle an application that has many different threads, using many different event handlers to raise several events on the UI ? Are there any good and simple ways to monitor this efficiently in an already built big application ? Thanks in advance!

• Is pthread_spin_trylock safe inside of sigsegv handler of multithreaded application?

  I am trying to implement a handler that on SIGSEGV will collect some information such as process-id, thread-id and a backtrace and write this information to a file/pipe/socket. The problem lies in that there is the (probably pretty high) possibility that if one thread experienced a SIGSEGV that the others will shortly follow. If two threads happen to make it to the bit of code where they're writing their report out at the same time then they'll interleave their writing (to the same file). I know that I should only be using async-signal-safe functions as detailed in signal(7) I also have seen at least two cases here and video linked in top answer here where others have used pthread_spin_trylock to get around this problem. Is this a safe way to prevent the above problem?

• Tool for making fn-x buttons work? Archlinux, handler.sh

  This just seems like such a normal thing to work. I know that this works out of the box on Ubuntu. But not in Archlinux. I would like to think that there is a tool in existence that would use acpi_listen to create a step by step way to enable all of the fn buttons on the keyboard. Everything works expect fn-F10(mute), fn-F11(s-down), fn-F12(s-up). How can I make the sound buttons work?

  We're all familiar with the horror that is C# event declaration. • Messages not forwarded to error queue when exception is thrown in handler (it works on my machine)

  e are using NServicebus 4.0.5 with sql server(sql server 2012) as transport. When the handler throws an exception, NSB does not retry or move the message to the error queue. Successful messages make it to the audit queue but the failed/errored ones don't! . Interestingly, all this works on our local machines(windows 7 ,sql server localdb) but not on windows server 2012 (sql server 2012). • Why is FF on OS X loosing jQuery-UI in click event handler?

  In a web page using jQUery 1.7.1 and jQUery-UI 1.8.18, if I output $.ui in an alert box when the document is ready, I get [object Object]. However when using Firefox, if I output $.ui in a click event handler, I get 'undefined' as result. With other browsers (latest versions of IE, Chrome and Safari), the result is still [object Object] when clicking on the link.   Just came a cross a sample written by Steve Muench, which somewhere deep in its implementation details uses the following code to route exceptions to the ADF binding layer to be handled by the ADF model error handler (which can be customized by overriding the DCErrorHandlerImpl class and configuring the custom class in DataBindings.cpx file) To route an exception to the ADFm error handler, Steve used the following code ((DCBindingContainer)BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry()).reportException(ex); The same code however can be used in managed beans as well to enforce consistent error handling in ADF. As an example, lets assume a managed bean method hits an exception. To simulate this, let's use the following code: public void onToolBarButtonAction(ActionEvent actionEvent) {    throw new JboException("Just to tease you !!!!!");        } The exception shows at runtime as displayed in the following image: Assuming a try-catch block is used to intercept the exception caused by a managed bean action, you can route the error message display to the ADF model error handler. Again, let's simulate the code that would need to go into a try-catch block public void onToolBarButtonAction(ActionEvent actionEvent) {    JboException ex = new JboException("Just to tease you !!!!!");  BindingContext bctx = BindingContext.getCurrent();    ((DCBindingContainer)bctx.getCurrentBindingsEntry()).reportException(ex); } The error now displays as shown in the image below As you can see, the error is now handled by the ADFm Error handler, which - as mentioned before - could be a custom error handler. Using the ADF model error handling for displaying exceptions thrown in managed beans require the current ADF Faces page to have an associated PageDef file (which is the case if the page or view contains ADF bound components). Note that to invoke methods exposed on the business service it is recommended to always work through the binding layer (method binding) so that in case of an error the ADF model error handler is automatically used.

• Subterranean IL: Compiling C# exception handlers

  An exception handler in C# combines the IL catch and finally exception handling clauses into a single try statement: try { Console.WriteLine("Try block") // ... } catch (IOException) { Console.WriteLine("IOException catch") // ... } catch (Exception e) { Console.WriteLine("Exception catch") // ... } finally { Console.WriteLine("Finally block") // ... } How does this get compiled into IL? Initial implementation If you remember from my earlier post, finally clauses must be specified with their own .try clause. Nested try blocks What's with the verification error? Well, it's a condition of IL verification that all exception handling regions (try, catch, filter, finally, fault) of a single .try clause have to be completely contained within any outer exception region, and they can't overlap with any other exception handling clause. In other words, IL exception handling clauses must to be representable in the scoped syntax, and in this example, we're overlapping catch and finally clauses. Not only is this example not verifiable, it isn't semantically correct. The finally handler is specified round the .try. What happens if you were able to run this code, and an exception was thrown? Program execution enters top of try block, and exception is thrown within it CLR searches for an exception handler, finds catch Because control flow is leaving .try, finally block is run The catch block is run leave.s End inside the catch handler branches to End label. We're actually running the finally before the catch! • How to approach parallel processing of messages?

  I am redesigning the messaging system for my app to use intel threading building blocks and am stumped trying to decide between two possible approaches. Basically, I have a sequence of message objects and for each message type, a sequence of handlers. For each message object, I apply each handler registered for that message objects type. The sequential version would be something like this (pseudocode): for each message in message_sequence <- SEQUENTIAL for each handler in (handler_table for message.type) apply handler to message <- SEQUENTIAL The first approach which I am considering processes the message objects in turn (sequentially) and applies the handlers concurrently. Pros: predictable ordering of messages (ie, we are guaranteed a FIFO processing order) (potentially) lower latency of processing each message Cons: more processing resources available than handlers for a single message type (bad parallelization) bad use of processor cache since message objects need to be copied for each handler to use large overhead for small handlers The pseudocode of this approach would be as follows: for each message in message_sequence <- SEQUENTIAL parallel_for each handler in (handler_table for message.type) apply handler to message <- PARALLEL The second approach is to process the messages in parallel and apply the handlers to each message sequentially. Which approach would you choose and why? Are there any other approaches I should consider (besides the obvious third approach: parallel messages and parallel handlers, which has the disadvantages of both and no real redeeming factors as far as I can tell)?   I am currently trying to hook up jQuery UI dialog so that I may use it to create new items to my page and to modify ones existing already on the page. I managed in the former. I'm currently struggling in the latter problem, however. I just cannot find a nice way to pass the item to modify to the dialog. Here's some code to illustrate the issue better.   Question 1 We would like to generate a site map for our CMS site We have multiple front end servers with approx a million articles. Environment multiple MS SQL servers multiple front end servers (load balanced) ASP.net - and IIS 6 Windows 2003 To have the site maps (the site map index file, and the site map files) physically on the front end servers will be a operations nightmare and error prone. So we are considering using http handlers instead so that it does not matter what server gets the request, it will be able to serve the correct xml file. Question 2 If we ping Google each time we publish a new article will that effect us negatively if that happens more than once a hour. Thanks!
