• Core Data multi-threading

  My app starts by presenting a tableview whose datasource is a Core Data SQLite store. When the app starts, a secondary thread with its own store controller and context is created to obtain updates from the web for data in the store. However, any resulting changes to the store are not notified to the fetchedresults controller (I presume because it has its own coordinator) and consequently the table is not updated with store changes. What would be the most efficient way to refresh the context on the main thread? I am considering tracking the objectIDs of any objects changed on the secondary thread, sending those to the main thread when the secondary thread completes and invoking "[context refreshObject:....] Any help would be greatly appreciated.

• jeditable in an ASP.NET web form

  Can someone explain to me how you would use jeditable with an ASP.NET web form (and C# codebehind). I've got a bit of experience with web forms but not very complicated stuff, and haven't used much jquery before, and this is just puzzling me. I understand how to put it in and attach it to the element you want to be editable, it's what jeditable does when you submit the text field that I don't get. How do you handle that in the webform in order to save the changed text? Hope someone understands my issue... Cheers!

  I need to clear the default values from input fields using js, but all of my attempts so far have failed to target and clear the fields. • Stable random color algorithm

  Here we have an interesting real-world algorithm requirement involving colors. 1) Nice random colors: In ordeeing to draw a beautifull chart (i.e: pie chart) we need to pick a random set of Colors that: a) are different enought b) Play nicely Doesnt Look hard. For example u fix bright and saturation and divide hue in steps of 360/Num_sectors 2) Stable: given Pie1 with sectors with labes ('A','B','C') and Pie2 with sector with labels ('B','C','D'), will be nice if color('B',pie1)= color('B',pie2) and the same for 'C' and so on, so people don't get crazy when seeing similar updated charts, even if some sectors appear some dissapeared or the number of sectors changed. The label is the only stable thing. 3) hard-coded colors: the algorithm allows hardcoded label-color relationships as an input but stills doing a good work (1 & 2) for the rest of free labels. I think this algorithm, even if it looks quite ad-hoc, will be usefull in more then one situation. Any ideas?

  I'm using SQL Server 2005, VB.NET 2005. I want to be able to import a very large excel file into a SQL table called "XYZ" I've done this by doing the following: 1. Save the excel file as csv.(Using SaveAs XLCSV option) 2. Build a datatable "ABC" From CSV.(using ODBC Connection and Select * from '*'.csv command) 3. copy the datatable"ABC" into database table "xyz" (using sqlBulkCopy.WriteToServer()) It works fine without any error but when i checked my database i found that data type for some columns has been changed and hence it didn't copy some of the records.Any help would be appreciated

• Custom UITableViewCell not properly hiding views

  I am using apple's custom table view cell code and modifying the drawRect code within the cell's view to look like I want it to. I've changed it to have some UILabels as well as a UIProgressView. If the data the cell is being built on doesn't have a certain field, I want the UIProgressView to be hidden. This works for a little while, but when a cell gets requeued, the progress view will start displaying again, even when I set it to hidden = YES. I've tried just not creating the ProgressView unless the data was there and that didn't work either. I thought the answer was in the [self setNeedsDisplay] but that doesn't seem to help. • Javascript function in external file is undefined when declared in a certain way

  myfunc() runs successfully when called from within the same js file. but it is undefined (Firebug) when called from an HTML page: JS file: $(function() { myfunc() { alert('inside myfunc'); } alert('outside myfunc'); myfunc(); //this successfully runs myfunc() }); HTML: <script> $(function() { myfunc(); //this doesn't run myfunc(). It's undefined }); </script> But when I change myfunc() declaration to: myfunc = function () { ... } It's no longer undefined, and runs successfully. Sorry for this very noob question, but what just happened? Why did it work when I changed the way I declared the function?

• IE8 error with Certificate

  I have installed a certificate with multiple Common Names on a Red Hat server in the jks format. The web page can be accessed with Firefox and the certificate gets imported. However, IE8 gives the error "Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage". I added the cert with MMC and its properties shows "This certificate has an nonvalid digital signature.". Also the cert doesn't have the URL of the web page in it. The cert does have a valid signature in Firefox and the URL mismatch is ignored. How can I get IE8 to accept it. This cert is required for another Application (where it works fine) and cannot be changed except to change the format. I already have it in PKCS12, jks and pem formats.

• Ruby on Rails: Model.all.each vs find_by_sql("SELECT * FROM model").each ?

  I'm fairly new to RoR. In my controller, I'm iterating over every tuple in the database. For every table, for every column I used to call SomeOtherModel.find_by_sql("SELECT column FROM model").each {|x| #etc } which worked fine enough. When I later changed this to Model.all(:select => "column").each {|x| #etc } the loop starts out at roughly the same speed but quickly slows down to something like 100 times slower than the the find_by_sql command. These calls should be identical so I really don't know what's happening. I know these calls are not the most efficient but this is just an intermediate step and I will optimize it more once this works correctly. Thanks!

• Binding a slider value on the height of its thumb in WPF

  Hi, I have a databinding problem in WPF. I would like to "customise" a slider in a way that the thumb grows when you move the slider to the right and the thumb shrinks when you move the slider to the left. So I edited the template for the slider and changed the look of the slider so the slider looks like I want it to. But now I have to bind the height of the thumb to the value of the slider but I do not know how that works. I did some simple data binding things but I cannot figure out how I can bind this "thumb height" that's inside of my slider's template to the slider's value that's inside the User Control where my slider is in. So how can I do it?

• JTable row filters updates

  Is there a way to tell a JTable's row filter that it should update itself to display the filtered data? I'm currently using the fireTableDataChanged method in the AbstractTableModel but the underlying data for the table isn't actually changing, so this seems like it might be wasteful. The way my filter works is to check if data in the table is in some other list and only display it if it is in that list. So that other list changed and I need to tell the filter to refresh itself. Is fireTableDataChanged the correct way to do this? thanks, Jeff

• Vertex Buffer Object not drawing in SDL window

  I'm just using the opengl SDL template with Xcode, and everything runs fine. I removed the Atlantis code, and changed the main extension to .mm, then added some testing code to drawGL. Drawing a simple triangle (using immediate mode) at this point inside drawGL gives me a white triangle, but when I add the code to draw using a vertex buffer object, i just get a black window. • rewrite URL for PUT request

  Hi, I changed the way my URL are working on my server. It is now www.myserver.com/service instead of www.myserver.com/test/service I have added a RedirectMatch 301 to my Apache conf file to redirect any access to www.myserver.com/test to www.myserver.com/. I am receiving file to this server via an HTTP PUT at this URL for example : www.myserver.com/test/service/put/myfile.xml The server sending the file don't handle the 301 HTTP status code so the files didn't arrived anymore. Is there a way to rewrite the URL when it is a PUT Request in order to don't miss any file? Thanks, Benjamin

• jQuery UI resizable : auto height when using east handle alone

  i have a jqueryui re-sizable div. I want only the width to be re-sizable and the height to remain auto, so that the div grows or shrinks with the content. If i set it to display only the east handle and use css height:auto, after resize the height also gets set even though only the width changed. I have to set the height to auto on resize event everytime like so: resize: function(event, ui) { $(this).css('height', 'auto'); } to prevent the height from being set. Is there a better way to prevent the height from getting set when only the east handle is used?

  Hi, I have a data structure which is as given below: class File { public string Value { get; set; } public File[] Dependencies { get; set; } public bool Change { get; private set; } public File(string value,File[] dependencies) { Value = value; Dependencies = dependencies; Change = false; } } Basically, this data structure follows a typical build execution of files. Each File has a value and a list of dependencies which is again of type File. Every file is exposed with a property called Change which tells whether the file is changed or not. I brainstormed to form a algorithm which goes through all these files and build in an order( i.e typical build process ) but haven't got a better algorithm. Can anyone throw some light on this? • read url in binary mode in java

  In java I need to read a binary file from a site and write it to a disk file. This example http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/urls/readingURL.html could read webpages succesfully, but when I try to read a binary file from my localhost server and write it to a disk file the contents change, corrupting the binary file. Using fc I see that 0x90 is changed to 0x3F and other changes. How do I acess the binary files (read url and write to file) without java or anything else changing ANY characters, like doing any newline conversions or character conversions or anything else, simply reading input url and writing it out as a file.

  I've having problems with resource filtering using m2eclipse Maven support in Eclipse. It seems that filtering only takes place on resources that have changed. This is fundamentally flawed because, if I have a file that references properties (e.g. ${my.property}, if the value of the property changes, the filtering will only be performed if the referencing file is also modified - if I only change the property value (in my pom.xml), the filtering is not applied to the files that that reference it. So, if I make a change to a property in my pom file, the filtering is not applied. However, if I then go to the file that references that property (e.g. a Spring config file) then edit and save it, the filtering is applied. I did read somewhere that: "m2eclipse skips filtering if there were no resource changes during incremental build" I'm using m2eclipse 0.10.x Has anyone else come across this? Thanks, Andrew

• Flash AS3 Chrome Mailto link issues

  Hi I have a problem with flash in Chrome. I have a couple of mailto: links in my flash web page, when clicking on them in chrome they either don't do anything at all, opens up a blank page/tab and no email client or opens an email client once (have to refresh the page in order to click it again). Does anyone know the best way in which to do a chrome supported mailto? Seems to work in all other browsers. I have changed the target to _blank, _parent, _self etc. Plus I have one link actually on the stage and another running through AS. Hope that makes sense, cheers.

I used the Arrays.asList() but the behavior (and signature) somehow changed from 1.4.2 to 1.5.0 and most snippets I found on the web use the 1.4.2 behaviour. All of my attempts to move the blackNotePanel over by an arbitrary width -- wrapping it a BorderLayout, a MigLayout, etc. -- have failed or changed the spacing of the GridLayout radically. Any suggestions on how to move this over to the right by an arbitrary amount in pixels?

  I'll try and be concise: 1) I have a dropdownlist with Autopostback set to TRUE 2) I have an UpdatePanel that contains a Label. 3) When the downdownlist selection is changed, I want to update the label. Problem: Focus is lost on the dropdownlist, forcing the user to click on the dropdownlist to reset focus back to the control. My "solution": In the DropDownList_SelectionChanged event, set focus back to the drop down list: dropdownlist1.focus() Problem: While this works great in IE, Firefox and Chrome change the scroll position such that the control which was assigned focus is positioned at the bottom on the visible portion of the browser window. This is often a very disorientating side effect. How can this be avoided so it works in FF as it does in IE?

  Hello friends, In my project, I have so many .png images. They are working properly in Firefox but when I run my project on Internet Explorer, i get white background in that images. I have used some Image converters but they are also not giving the proper result. After converting, the resolution gets changed. So can any one suggest me some good Converter that will not change the resolution of image and will also convert the .png images to .gif images? Once I select the first value in the ComboBox it sets it up. But when I select another value, it doesn't get changed.
