  • Does the VB6 IDE run on Windows 7 64-bit

    We're approaching a point of replacing several of our developer PCs and would like to move up to 64-Bit to maximize the hardware/life of the PCs but we also need to support several legacy VB6 applications. That said, does the VB6 IDE run on Windows 7 64-bit? Microsoft says it's not supported, but that doesn't necessarily mean it doesn't work. Does it work? Are there any pitfalls/workarounds needed to get it running?

  • What is a service provider?

    Sorry if this is a silly question but I am a C developer who just happen to be in a meeting with a bunch of .NET guys and over heard their conversation. They were sketching out a design and constantly talk of service provider, services and spring. Instead of looking silly by asking them, I just decided to post here. BTW, I am doing device driver development (have been for more than 10 years using C) and NEVER heard of service provider.

    been working with symfony for a while. most tutorials describe having multiple actions in a single php file. however, i find having 1 action per php file easier to maintain. what's the pro/con of both? is this purely a developer preference in code organisation? any performance impact on either approach? what's common practice for reasonably large production applications?

In Subversion I was able to set per directory permissions for a repository. For example, I could say that a new developer could only read and write a subset of all the project's directories.     Looking for a large European developer/software conference, open-source-friendly, programming-language-neutral, platform-neutral, vendor-neutral. Any recommendations? apparently there briefly used to be a Euro OSCON (2004-2006? what happened?) some good language/app-specific ones like EuroPython, EuroSciPy, DjangoCon European BarCamps seem kind of fragmented, esp. for an English-speaking audience anything bigger or better? If there isn't anything, I wonder if O'Reilly would resurrect Euro OSCON.

    Codesign warning: provisioning is not applicable for product type 'Application' in SDK Device - iPhone OS3.1'; ignoring.. Redownloaded my developer certificate, made a new provisioning profile, still getting this error. Searched the Xcode project and removed all lines referencing a Provisioning Profile, but that didn't seem to remove it from the project settings (went to show package contents, then opened the project file). Was originally on a different machine then transferred over, if that makes a difference? Thanks

    Hello - I have been stuck on this all weekend and failed miserably! Please help me to claw back my sanity!! Your challenge For my first Silverlight application I thought it would be fun to use the World of Warcraft armoury to list the characters in my guild. This involves making an asyncronous from Silverlight (duh!) to the WoW armoury which is XML based. SIMPLE EH? Take a look at this link and open the source. You'll see what I mean: http://eu.wowarmory.com/guild-info.xml?r=Eonar&n=Gifted and Talented Below is code for getting the XML (the call to ShowGuildies will cope with the returned XML - I have tested this locally and I know it works). I have not managed to get the expected returned XML at all. Notes: If the browser is capable of transforming the XML it will do so, otherwise HTML will be provided. I think it examines the UserAgent I am a seasoned asp.net web developer C# so go easy if you start talking about native to Windows Forms / WPF I can't seem to set the UserAgent setting in .net 4.0 - doesn't seem to be a property off the HttpWebRequest object for some reason - i think it used to be available. Silverlight 4.0 (created as 3.0 originally before I updated my installation of Silverlight to 4.0) Created using C# 4.0 Please explain as if you talking to a web developer and not a proper programming lol! Now I would actually like to add you know some controls to these tabs like textboxes(text edit). How do I do this?     Having a problem in Eclipse with regards to an XML file. Eclipse complains that android:scrollbars and android:fadingEdge do not allow Strings. I checked the Android developer site and they do in fact accept strings in the xml file. A related question posed had the problem where there was a missing :android after xmlns. As you can see from the code the line beginning with xmlns is correct I believe. Here is the complete file contents:

  • Where is the source archive for my Websphere portal classes?

    I'm pretty new to Websphere application development and I'm missing the source attachment for all the classes in the com.ibm.wps.* packages in my IBM Rational Application Developer setup. For example the class com.ibm.wps.engine.Command from JAR wp.engine.impl.jar has no source attached. Do I have to install another package with the sources or where can I find it?     hi i am integrating authorize.net AIM api into my shopping cart. i have a developer account from auth.net and i am working locally. when i do auth.net api call, i get SSL certificate problem, verify that the CA cert is OK. Details: error:14090086:SSL routines:SSL3_GET_SERVER_CERTIFICATE:certificate verify failed i assume it's because i dont have ssl on my local machine. how do i get over this so i can test on my local machine? thank you
