  • Do you know any mainstream desktop applications developed with Python and Qt?

    - by systempuntoout
Hi i'm developing a small prototype of a desktop application using Qt and Python because i would like to distribute it in a multiplatform way. A friend of mine is annoying me on messenger because he claims that there are not known cool mainstream desktop apps developed with Qt and python technologies so, what i am doing, is just an exercise without future. Do you know any cool apps developed in python+Qt? thanks

  • What's the name of the storage paradigm that uses cubes subdivided into 8 smaller cubes ad infinitum?

    - by Eric
If I have a cube divided into 8 smaller cubes, each of which may be subdivided into a further 8 cubes, ad infinitum, what is the name of my system? I know that it's a special case of a tree, where each brance contains exactly 8 other leaves/branches. I remember the name starting with "Oct", and there was a wikipedia article on it, but I honestly can't find it! Does anyone know what such a data structure is actually known as?

  • I need an OpenOffice Calc formula to fetch the Google PageRank for the top 5 listed results of a giv

    - by Jeff
I have a list of search terms: A | B | C | D | E | _______________________________________________________________ 1 | SEARCH TERM PR #1 PR #2 PR #3 PR #4 2 | lcd screens 3 | mud 4 | eurpoean sport cars 5 | perfume How can the search term in my spreadsheet fetch the Google PageRank of the top five domain/page results for each term? I've seen similar "pagerank fetching" questions here, but those are based on known domains. In my scenario, the domain is unknown until results are fetched based on a search term.

  • Finding users near other user

    - by Bunny Rabbit
what algorithms should I explore to implement a feature which lets a user find other user located near him , the latitude and the longitudes of all the user are known in advance and are fixed [not dynamic]. Also i believe that there should be a better way to store such data then simply storing the lat , long of the user against his user id in a database. What are the efficient ways to handle this ?

  • Memory leaks in libxml2.2

    - by KSH
I am using libxml2 to parse xml content in my iPhone app. The xml content is downloaded from a server similar to the Apple's own TopSongs sample app. When I check for leaks using the Instruments tool, I see memory leaks being reported on xmlNewParserCtxt, xmlNewInputStream and xmlAllocParserInputBuffer. I have called xmlFreeParserCtxt(context) at applicable places (dealloc). Am I missing something else ? Is this a known issue to contend with when using libxml2 parsers ?

  • How to select ComboBox value after Data filled from DataSource

    - by Amadeus45
Hi, I would like to set the selected value to a known value. However, after InititializeComponent() has been called, the data is not yet filled in a databound Combobox so I can't set my selected value there. Which event is triggered when the data has finished to be added in the combobox from the databound object ? Is there any other way you would suggest handling this ? Many thanks

  • A good extension to JSF that adheres to JSF2.0?

    - by Riz
Hi, I have been looking for a JSF extension (Richfaces, IceFaces, and more) but all seem to be according to JSF1.x and ones for JSF2.0 are still alpha or in development and most of the documentation assumes you're using JSF1.2. Is there any production well known extension available?

  • How do I get intellisense to pop up?

    - by TheLearner
How do I get intellisense to pop up while I am coding? I know it pops up when I start typing a known type e.g.: if I type NSS it will finish it for me NSString. How do I get it to give me a bunch of options like in Visual Studio e.g.: if I type NS I want to see what my options are like NSString, NSInteger etc? And if I have not typed anything I still want a bunch of options like all the instance variables etc.

  • Which is the fastest idiomatic way to add all vectors (in the math sense) inside a Scala list?

    - by davips
    I have two solutions, but one doesn't compile and the other, I think, could be better: object Foo extends App { val vectors = List(List(1,2,3), List(2,2,3), List(1,2,2)) //just a stupid example //transposing println("vectors = " + vectors.transpose.map (_.sum)) //it prints vectors = List(4, 6, 8) //folding vectors.reduce { case (a, b) => (a zip b) map { case (x, y) => x + y } } //compiler says: missing parameter type for exp. function; arg. types must be fully known }

  • Real World Examples of read-write in concurrent software

    - by Richard Fabian
I'm looking for real world examples of needing read and write access to the same value in concurrent systems. In my opinion, many semaphores or locks are present because there's no known alternative (to the implementer,) but do you know of any patterns where mutexes seem to be a requirement? In a way I'm asking for candidates for the standard set of HARD problems for concurrent software in the real world.

  • Get spiral index from location

    - by ricick
I'm using Alberto Santini's solution to this question to get a spiral grid reference based on an items index Algorithm for iterating over an outward spiral on a discrete 2D grid from the origin It's not the accepted solution, but it's the best for my needs as it avoids using a loop. It's working well, but what I want now is to do the inverse. Based on a known x and y coordinate return the index of a location. This is as a precursor to returning the items surrounding a given location.

  • How to simplyfy getting the patch for one changeset in git?

    - by childno.de
git revision syntax is really powerful, but I can't find how to simplify things like: git diff 1a2e^..1a2e without writing tree'sh1 twice? Is there now "NEXT" syntax, something like: git diff 1a2e^..NEXT OR git changeset 1a2e ?? Another "next" syntax which might be useful if 1a2e is a known revision: git cherry-pick 1a2e+NEXT..origin/featureBranch ^^ "cherry pick anything from 1a2e to master EXCEPT 1a2e itself"

  • jQuery .eq(x) returns different element in IE than in FF/Chrome

    - by bt
I am using the .eq() method to select a specific child element of a known element. It appears that the element indices are different in IE and in Chrome/FF, as .eq(2) returns different values depending on browser. (The element I'm looking for shows up as .eq(2) in FF/Chrome, but .eq(3) in IE) For example, alert($(this).parent().children().eq(2).text()); shows different results depending on the browser. Is there a better way of doing this?

  • Find and replace date within a file

    - by user1629011
My apologies if my title is not descriptive enough, I believe the following will be. I have 3 files which are just plain text, within each file, is a date Date: 2012-08-31 for example I would like to get a command/script to find this and update to the current date, but the date will be ever changing and may not be known going in (without viewing the contents of the file Knowing what the date is, its simple enough with sed, but how can I do this knowing the syntax of the line I want to modify, but not the specific values. ("Date: " at least is unchanging)

  • mySQL: How many rows in a table before performance is affected?

    - by Industrial
Hi everybody, Is there a "known limit" for columns & rows in a mySQL table that when passed, it can be safe to say that performance is severely affected? I've think that I had heard that there is a "golden number" that you really dont want to exceed in either columns or rows in a table. - Or is it all about the size of the index and available RAM + CPU on the server? Thanks!
