  • Can I move the order of XCode, Cocoa, and User Templates around in XCode 3.1?

    I followed the other questions on StackOverflow and made custom User Templates. Instead of replacing the factory default Cocoa class template, I have to pick a new user template. The order that is shown in XCode's New File dialog box is: iPhone templates first (great if you mostly do iphone development) Second the User templates Third the default Mac OS templates. I want my user stuff first, Mac OS templates second, and I want to bury iPhone templates in third and last place. The sort is obviously not alphabetical. And you can't drag/drop reorder. (At least not in xcode 3.1.3)? From stackoverflow

    The problem I'm having is an extra  Chracter being added before the ® symbol in the body of an email created from a mailto: link in flash. This only happens on the PC in MS Outlook Instead of: MasterCard®! It shows up as MasterCard®! The file may not exist, in this case I want to just write an object to the dictionary and then write it down the problem is that when i do setObject forKey it doesn't add anything to the dict (if i just do alloc init to the dict, it works fine, but i want to read the records from the file, if there are any, and replace/add a record by using the AddAddress function)

  • Why is glpk-java.jar not the same across all platforms?

    I'm using glpk-java in one of my projects. It provides a JNI to GLPK, a free LP/MIP solver. To use it under different platforms, you need different shared libraries (libglpk.so under Linux, libglpk.dylib under Mac OS X, glpk.dll under Windows) which is fully understandable. In addition, a java library is needed: glpk-java.jar. It's created as part of the build process. I was wondering why this JAR file (which only contains .class files) is different under different platforms? I.e., I cannot use the same glpk-java.jar under Linux and Mac OS X which means that I cannot put this file under revision control.

    I want to make a small utility to programmatically deactivate the AirPort of my mac. I have networking problems which couldnt be resolved by expensive experts. I need to deactivate and reactivate the mac AirPort once every half hour. So a little utility which does that automatically would be great. I think I wouldn't need an UI for this either. Just the most simple possible kind of application to automatically stop and start the AirPort. Maybe even apple automator code?

  • Problems adding static library QT project

    I have problems adding a static library to my Qt project. I have two project one is my static library and the other one is a Qt GUI project. As I add all classes to my GUI project as c++ or header files everything works just fine but I want this to be in a separate library. When I select the option to add a library I check External library then I select the .a file I have build and the folder where my header files can be found because I am working on a Mac I select Mac as the target platform.     Hello, just a quickie (or maybe not:] ): Is it possible to get somehow list of running applications/processes and, while running in background, check which process is active? Additionally - if somehow, the answer was yes, is it possible to react for change of active window / application react just as if it was Event, or bind to it custom event (e.g. Event.SystemActiveAppChange)? Thank you for answers as well as pointers. EDIT: Due to probable missunderstanding, I mean local applications - on your win/mac/linux machine - I would like to (in process of learning of language) track what apps I use the most, make a little graph maybe?   • Cannot connect via HTTPS in Java app on MacOSX (Certificate validation issue)

    I have a java application that connects to a webservice over https. The domain where i host the webservice has a valid Goddaddy issued SSL certificate. The application works fine on Windows but on MacOSx i receive the following exception when attempting to connect to the webservice via https. sun.security.provider.certpath.SunCertPathBuilderException: unable to find valid certification path to requested target I've tested it on two machines running Mac OS X 10.7.2 with the latest java runtime updates. I understand this is usually a problem with self signed certificates that need to be added manually, but i have a valid Godaddy issued certificate. In webbrowsers (safari & firefox) on mac os the certificate is recognized and seems ok. I even tried adding the certificate to the key chain manually like in the gase of a self signed one but to no result.

    Hello, I need to generate small images for certain parts of text. Those will have to fit into the text seamlessly. I know I can not make up for every browser font settings available, but how do I have to check for Linux, Mac and Windows users depending on the user agent? I want to use the right font (of the three "Verdana, Arial, Helvetiva") for the right user agent OS. So: How do I check for the OS? What do I have to compare to in the user agent? Where can I get the other two fonts. Does the Windows-included Verdana look the same as the one used on Linux (or, is it free anyway? I don't know much about fonts)? Where do I get Helvetica? Is it Mac OS licensed? Any code examples can be in either c# or VB.NET. I can read both. Thank you in advance.

    I have created some JavaScript files and they run well from my Mac OS X Server. Now I have put the same JavaScript files on my MS Server 2003. But they don't work. Do I have to install something on the server in order to get them work? EDIT: (Sorry, I'm new and English is not my native language, so its hard for me to describe the situation well) I have downloaded this free Ajax Chat app. After enabling PHP on my Mac, it worked. But on my MS Windows 2003 Server it doesn't work. I installed PHP and Apache on Windows. PHP and Apache work well.     Hello, I am running into an "out of memory" error from OpenGL on glReadPixels() under low-memory conditions. I am writing a plug-in to a program that has a robust heap mechanism for such situations, but I have no idea whether or how OpenGL could be made to use it for application memory management. The notion that this is even possible came to my attention through this [albeit dated] thread on a similar issue under Mac OS X: http://lists.apple.com/archives/Mac-opengl/2001/Sep/msg00042.html I am using Windows XP, and have seen it on multiple NVidia cards. I am using a prototyping tool (Axure) on Mac and I want to add some html meta tags to the generated pages. These pages can be overwritten every time I generate the prototype.     While the NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification perfectly makes sense on Mac OS X, I don't see how you can possibly receive it on iPhone OS. In order to change the locale, you have to quit the running application, then change it in Settings ? General ? International ? Region Format. At that point, your app is not running, so how could it receive the notification? I first thought this notification was leftover from the Mac OS X documentation, but then I found this in Apple Push Notification Service Programming Guide: The application might send its provider the preferred language every time the user changes something in the current locale. To do this, you can listen for the notification named NSCurrentLocaleDidChangeNotification and, in your notification-handling method, get the code identifying the preferred language and send that to your provider. So, how do you trigger this notification on iPhone OS?

    I recently obtained a Mac so I could test our sites on Safari and Firefox for Mac OS. Now that Safari 5 is out, I'm not sure what I should do about upgrading. I presume what works on Safari 5 works on Safari 4, but I can't be sure, and vice versa. So, I don't know if I should upgrade and test on Safari 5 or keep on with Safari 4. Are there any major differences between these two version in terms of CSS (2.1) handling or JavaScript? When do you think the majority of people will have Safari 5 instead of 4?     Greetings, for one of my applications I'm trying to implement an "Edit" menu. This menu usually has the standard-entries Undo, Cut, Copy and Paste. This menu is not there by default, and users seem to expect it especially on Mac OS X. Is there a an easier way of implementing this, without doing so in every widget manually? Since most widgets have the copy/paste/undo mechanism already implemented via shortcuts, I'd like to provide a few simple menu actions that call them as well. The actions should call whatever widget has the focus first, then they should pass the events upwards the object chain, I guess. I'm using Qt 4.6 on Windows, Linux and Mac OS X. Thanks!

    When i was at university i wrote a lot of C++. I primarily used either Visual Studio (at the time it was version 6) or VIM (if i was on linux) as an editor to write my code. Since i have graduate and have been working primarily in web programming i have stopped writing C++. Since i graduated i have also bought myself and started using my Mac exclusively. I am now starting to get back to my C++ coding (just for fun) and would like an opinion on good IDE's for Mac. I am currently using xCode which seems kinda cool because it has everything built into it. Do any of you have any other IDE's that you would suggest that i give a shot or should i just stick to xCode?

    I'm currently trying to upload an image from my Mac application to Facebook. To do this, I'd like for the user to simply input his username and password, and to click a button. The only issue is, Facebook doesn't actually have an API for the Mac, it only has one for iOS. This shouldn't be a problem, except for the fact that to login, you must use a web view, something I'm not to keen on doing, since I'd like the interface to be two simple text fields. I've also looked into PHFacebook, a class I found online, but it also seems to utilize an NSWebView. I'm wondering if there's a security issue when you use text fields; indeed, it's slightly strange no available API offers this function ! So, to conclude, is it possible, or is there an API, that lets you upload an image and lets you provide the user's credentials through simple NSStrings?

  • Breaking out of .emacs script

    I use two emacs (Aquamcs and text based emacs) on my Mac. I normally use text based emacs for just editing something, so I don't want to load anything with it. What I came up with is to have the checking code in .emacs to exit/break if it's text based emacs (darwin system but not aquamacs). (when (and (equal system-type 'darwin) (not (boundp 'aquamacs-version))) (exit) ??? (break) ???? ) It seems to work, but I don't know how to break out of .emacs. How to do that? ADDED I just wanted to speed up in loading text based emacs on my mac, and I thought about breaking out as a solution. Based on the helpful answers, I came up with the following code that runs .emacs only when it's not a text based emacs. (setq inhibit-splash-screen t) (unless (null window-system)

    Hello, Here's the deal. I'm just starting with Java programming, I've made a simple application that uses SWT graphic library and I want to deploy it on a Mac (running the latest version of MacOS X). I did all the programming in my Windows 7 machine, so here are my questions: Q1) Can I make an executable file for MacOS X from my Windows machine? How? (I saw that it's possible to create .exe files on Windows, instead of using .jar; I want to do the same for the Mac, of course it won't be an .exe) Q2) If I export my project in Eclipse and I choose Runnable JAR File and then on Library Handling I pick Extract required libraries into generated JAR or Package required libraries into generated JAR I end up with a huge .JAR (about 15MB of size, my application consist in just a button on a Window and a tiny method that doesn't do much).
