  When you press C-h i in Emacs, it shows what's called the top of the INFO tree, and it links to all kinds of manuals: AUCTeX, Org Mode, Emacs, Emacs FAQ, Emacs Lisp Intro, Elisp, ... . Is there a place where I can download all of them at once as html files? GNU Home page has links to some of them in html format: http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/elisp.html_node.tar.gz http://www.gnu.org/software/emacs/manual/emacs.html_node.tar.gz But I cannot find a link to a single tar.gz file packing all of them.

  Ubuntu Deluge shows errors when downloading large bit torrent files and keeps erroring out after trying to resume. The error on details shows: "Invalid argument". This happens for many large torrents that are running for several days (trying to download.) I try to "resume" and "force rechceck" but it never works. Smaller torrents seem to work ok. What is causing these torrents to never complete? Is there a way to force Deluge to keep auto-resuming every few minutes after a failure instead of just giving up?

  I have a lot of cmd files i use daily for example to add users to local groups, installing printers, run as admin tasks etc. I like to take the scripts i use most frequently and add them to a tabbed hta file, but i have trouble finding a good guide on how to easily do it. Anyone having a good site to share with me? Or do i finally have to start with vb scripting? I have done some but it's so much faster to do a cmd file for me.

  Is there any way to connect to a remote Windows server via RDP but not graphically? What options do I have simply to connect to a remote Windows machine and access my files, but not have to do it via a graphic interface. i.e. is there an equivalent of SSH or SCP (file access is really what I'm looking to do) for Windows? I will add the caveat that I do not manage the machine, so installing any services would probably not be kosher, although I do have administrator access to the machine.

  I am facing a huge delay while uploading and downloading files from my Windows Amazon EC2 server to my android device. It takes around 50 seconds to upload then download 500 Kbytes image. My location is in asia and the server is is US-East. I pinged the server from my android and obtained values around 500 ms for RTT. Is this normal? How is this explained? I tried this website: http://cloudharmony.com/speedtest/run and obtained that downloading 270 Kbytes file takes around 20 seconds. How is this delay justified?

• Reading PFS First Choice and Word Perfect 5 files in an XP or Windows 98 environment

  Hello all, My priest has 3 computers, Windows 3.1, Windows 98 and Windows XP. Recently his power supply blew out on his Windows 3.1 computer and he needs to get to the data on the hard drive. He's looking into imaging the hard drive and setting it up as a VM, which might be a bit much for him. Ignoring getting the data off the hard drive as a separate problem, are there any programs out there that can read files from PFS First Choice and Word Perfect 5. He already has Microsoft Office so solutions involving that are preferable. If he can install the software on his Windows XP or 98 computer, that would be helpful too. Thank you for your help

• Using .htaccess to protect direct access of files

  We need to prevent direct access of files on our site from someone just entering a URL in their browser. I got this to work by using an htaccess file and it is fine in IE & Safari, but for some reason Firefox doesn't cooperate. I think it has something to do with the way Firefox reports referrers. Here is my code in the .htaccess file.   Im wondering how to mount my second HDD to my /home folder like you do in other *NIX systems, making the mount point just that folder and not a standard HDD. I am aware of the method of copying my /home folder and then telling OSX via System Preferences/Users & Groups to look for the folder in a different location. What I am wondering is if there is a way to properly mount the entire HDD to become nothing more than my /home. I don't want it to even show up in Finder as an HDD. Is this even possible?

  My company is evaluating Box.com as a file server replacement. It's file locking behavior for concurrent access to files seems incomplete. Specifically, files are not locked* (either exclusive or read-only) when they are being edited by Office or similar programs. This inevitably results in multiple versions of documents as concurrent access results in change conflicts. *The exception is when the file is edited using Zoho Docs - perhaps other web-based office suites as well. Box provides multiple options for editing documents, including Google Docs, a local copy of Office or similar, Zoho Docs and others. If you are using Box how have you managed or worked around this behavior?

  I know the FTP username and password for a site we own and need to know how we can update some files on the server. It seems quite a small thing to do and I'd like to have a go at doing it myself. A few years ago a friendly local guy help set up a website for my wife's floristry business. The site has a "contact us" page, and messages are forwarded to our home email address. We've now just changed our home email, and so I now need to reset the forwarding function on the website. The helpful local guy seems to have moved away, or retired - there's no way I can find him now. I tried to get help on how to change the forwarding address from the hosting people, but they say they can't help me. How do I go about updating the pages on the site?   I've got some large MPEG audio files (144 MB each) that I'm looking to convert to something smaller so I can send them out as attachments to an email. Any suggestions on the software to use? I'm looking for something free that will run on Windows. I don't really care what the destination file is, mp3 would be nice.   What is the easiest way to create this setup: WiFi internet router separate in one room. Study room: Laptop with USB printer connected with wifi. My room: Laptop connected with wifi. I want to be able to print from the "My room" laptop to the "Study room" printer, and also share files between them. What is the easiest way to do this? Note, the wireless router needs to be in a separate room for both laptops to be able to connect to it. I've tried configuring homegroups and stuff to do with IP addresses that I found on the internet but have had no success. I'm not an expert with PC's but I've tried hard so there is probably just some trick to do it. If someone can help that will be great.

So if file1.bin is 00 90 00 11 in binary form and file2.bin is 00 91 00 10 I want to get something like 00000001 90 91 00000003 11 10 what is the easiest way to accomplish the goal? Standard tool? Some 3rd party tool? inb4: cmp -l should be killed with fire,it uses decimal system for offsets and octal for bytes. "Consistency for losers" must be cmp's motto.

  Hi, When you download files from Google Code now (example), in addition to the text version of the SHA1 hash, it includes a QR code of it. The device that the file was downloaded to is the one that has to hash the file. But, if it can download the file (ie, has access to the webpage), it also has access to the text version of the hash, so the QR code seems completely useless—and more work to decode when the raw text is available. How would reading the hash into a mobile phone allow you to verify the file you download to the computer? Or if you download the file to the phone, how would you use the phone to take a picture of the QR code displayed on the webpage on its own screen? Does anyone know what the point to the QR code is or how you would use it to verify the downloaded file (I don’t mean QR codes in general, but specifically in this context).

  Hey Guys, I'm not a server guru (unfortunately) but have a decent knowledge of linux & bsd. I'm trying to symlink multiple instances of HLDS (game server) but need to exclude certain folders & config files to achieve this properly. I need to do it this way as HLDS loads many mods automatically, and putting an exception to disable the mods doesnt work for all of them. so basically i want: /home/user/hlds-install (the base install) /home/user/server1 /home/user/server2 etc... and then be able to manually put any configs/mods ive excluded into the server dir's so that each server can be configured individually. Can anyone tell me how to do this, perhaps some sort of bash script so that I can just change the targets to run it each time i want to create a new one. I have quite a number to make so doing the whole thing manually for each one definately isn't an option and im all for working smarter, not harder! Thanks :)

  If I setup my hosts files such that they reference all other ec2 nodes using the internal ip addresses, will this work or do I have to use the external ip addresses? Do I need to specify anything in my security group to get internal ip addresses to work? e.g. /etc/hosts ip-10-11-12-13.internal some_node_name If I do this, can I reference some_node_name anywhere in my scripts where I would have used the ip address previously? On my puppet agent servers, I have a reference to my puppet master like: public-ip-here puppet When I reboot my puppet agent's, syslog shows they couldn't find the master with the message: getaddinfo : name or service not known I did get it to work by updating /etc/default/puppet and I added to the options: --server=public-ip-here From what I read, puppet will by default try using 'puppet', and I set this in my hosts file so why wouldn't it be picking this up?

  I am hoping someone can help me with this problem. I am moving to a new server and not using mod_pagespeed any more. However We not that we have lots of external links that link to images on our server using the strange mod_pagespeed filenames. This is not an issue but we do not want to have lots of 404 errors. • Xperia handset - cannot send files using bluetooth

  My friend has a Sony Ericsson Xperia (most probably X8) handset which is an Android based smartphone. He is not able to send files through bluetooth but able to receive. I don't exactly remember the version of Android which he is currently having. He has tried to download and install the required update using the same phone (he has internet connected) from http://www.sonyericsson.com but not able to install it. So, he asked me to help him. Which version of Android do you think he has? Does it seem like he does not have Android 2.1 installed. It is written here (click on Xperia X8) that If your phone already has Android 2.1, you can use your mobile network* or a WiFi connection to download the software. Is it possible that he does not have updated Android and so not able to download? If so, does he need to upgrade to Android 2.1 first? Should it be done by connecting it to a PC?

  I have a bunch of gzip files that I have to convert to bzip2 every now and then. Currently, I'm using a shell script that simply 'gunzip's each file and then 'bzip2's it. Though this works, it takes a lot of time to complete. Is it possible to make this process more efficient? I'm ready to take a dive and look into gunzip and bzip2's source codes if necessary, but I just want to be sure of the payoff. Is there any hope of improving the efficiency of the process?
