    Ant has a -e option for outputting error messages that can be parsed by emacs' compile command. For example, it is possible to do M-x compile, ant -e, then nagivate to any errors with C-x `. Is it possible to make grails output its compilation errors in this format? Alternatively, is there an emacs variable that can be customized to handle error messages in the format that grails uses?

  • Are +=, |=, &= etc atomic?

    Are the "modify" operators like +=, |=, &= etc atomic? I know ++ is atomic (if you perform x++; in two different threads "simultaneously", you will always end up with x increased by 2, as opposed to x=x+1 with optimization switched off.) What I wonder is whether variable |= constant, and the likes are thread-safe or do I have to protect them with a mutex? (...or is it CPU-dependent? In this case, how is it on ARM?)

  • MVC, can model save/load its data?

    Quick question, my data model is a singleton object and it contains a list of names I want archive. My idea is to make the model responsible for loading / saving this data. The ModelLoad will then be called by the ViewControllerviewDidLoad and the ModelSave by ViewControllerapplicationWillTerminate. I could do the load / save directly within the ViewController, but this would be messy as the list of names are on instance variable of the model. gary

  • Efective way to avoid integer overflow when multiplying?

    Hi, I'm working on a hash function which gets a string as input. Right now I'm doing a loop and inside the hash (an int variable) is being multiplied by a value and then the ASCII code for the current character is added to the mix. hash = hash * seed + string[i] But sometimes, if the string is big enough there is an integer overflow there, what can I do to avoid it while maintaining the same hash structure? Maybe a bit operation included inside the loop?

    I haven't quite figured this out. EVERY piece of documentation I've found covers how to use xdebug to debug scripts running in Apache. I need to debug a php CLI script. So, for instance, how do I pass the XDEBUG_SESSION_START variable in to get xdebug to kick on? I'm specifically trying to debug a CakePHP shell.     I wrote a .sh file to compile and run a few programs for a homework assignment. I have a "for" loop in the script, but it won't work unless I use only integers: #!/bin/bash for (( i=10; i<=100000; i+=100)) do ./hw3_2_2 $i done The variable $i is an input for the program hw3_2_2, and I have non-integer values I'd like to use. How could I loop through running the code with a list of decimal numbers?
