• How to use browser options in selenium?

  I have a browser which takes certain parameters as options as shown below. testbrowser.exe -id=test -url=http://www.google.com/. Below is my selenium code. selenium = new DefaultSelenium("localhost", 4444, "*custom "+testBrowser+" -id=test -url=", "http://www.google.com/"); selenium.start(); selenium.open("http://www.yahoo.com"); When i execute this i am getting the below error. java.lang.RuntimeException: Could not start Selenium session: Failed to start new browser session: Error while launching browser at com.thoughtworks.selenium.DefaultSelenium.start(DefaultSelenium.java:103) I think the problem is with options that my browser requires as the same code works fine with firefox or IE.   I have some polygon data saved in a PostGIS database with projection SRID 27700. geom = models.MultiPolygonField(srid=27700) I want to display the shapes on OpenStreetMap, i.e. with SRID 900913 (I think?). So, two questions: How do I change the code below to output with the right SRID for OpenStreetMap?   I have a form where the user can upload multiple files. I am using MVC 2.0 and in my controller I need to call a webservice that is a common import interface requires the files to passed in as byte[]. .NET exposes Request.Files as a HttpFileCollectionBase and I access the filehandle using HttpPostedFile or HttpPostedFileBase that provides access to the Stream member. What is the best way for me to read the bytes from the stream? BinaryReader? StreamReader? BufferedStream?

• Git: delete files in a branch, what happens when a merge takes place

  I'm relatively new to source control (at least complex source control). If I'm developing a set of features in a branch, and I happen to delete some cruft out of the source tree in this branch, what happens when I merge? Are the files properly deleted in the trunk/master? Is there anything I should avoid doing that is typically problematic when developing in a branch? This is a 2-3 developer system, so we're not talking about massive changes to source. I'm told you should pull from the trunk often to avoid tangled manual merge situations, and this makes sense. • AES Encryption. From Python (pyCrypto) to .NET

  I am currently trying to port a legacy Python app over to .NET which contains AES encrpytion using from what I can tell pyCrpyto. I have very limited Python and Crypto experience. The code uses the snippet from the following page. http://www.djangosnippets.org/snippets/1095/ So far I believe I have managed to work out that it that it calls Crypto.Cipher with AES and the first 32 character of our secret key as the password, but no mode or IV. It also puts a prefix on the encrpyed text when it is added to database. What I can't work out is how I can decrypt the existing ecrypted database records in .NET. I have been looking at RijndaelManaged but it requires an IV and can't see any reference to one in python. Can anyone point me in the dirrection to what method could be used in .NET to get the desired result.

• Netbeans GUI editor generating its own incomprehensible code.

  When creating a new project in netbeans, if i select JAVA Desktop application, it creates some code which I DO NOT RECOGNISE AT ALL as what i had learnt in swing. It imports packages such as : org.jdesktop.application.SingleFrameApplication; also, the declaration for main() looks like this : public static void main(String[] args) { launch(DesktopApplication2.class, args); } This really does not make any sense to my knowledge of JFrame, JPanel etc.. If i try to code a netbeans application from scratch, i can write my own swing app BUT I CANNOT FIND THE GUI EDITOR. How do i bring the GUI editor when creating java application from scratch ? Can anyone explain to me this org.jdesktop.application.SingleFrameApplication and other classes ? Please help. This is really frustrating.

• Generic Text Only printer driver mangles control codes

  If an escape character (or most other characters < 0x20) is sent to the generic / text only printer it gets printed as a period. Using the code in the WinDDK is it possible to 'correct' this behaviour so that it passes it through unmodified? The general scenario for this is that some application ('user app') outputs a document to a windows printer. My application requires this data in plain text form and so what I do is run a generic / text only printer that talks to a virtual com port. This generally works fine except where the 'user app' outputs binary data to the print queue without using the correct mechanism (which seems to work fine on some printer drivers, such as the Epson POS ones, but not the generic / text only one). I've tried changing the print processor selection without success and also tried looking at the gtt files to see if I could readily map in these characters as though they were printable, but the minidriver tool won't let me do that. Any suggestions?

  I have a SQL database that creates a record for every document uploaded by the user to the server. I want to check this table before a user uploads a document to ensure they don't upload a file with name that already exists. I know how to make the connection and make the SqlCommand to query the table for an existing record. But I don't know how to check the record count from the sqlCommand I made. Does that make sense? • VSTS Test Edition or HP's LoadRunner?

  I have had this debate with some peers off and on for a while. I am certified in the HP tools, but have been spending more and more time with VSTS Test Edition 2008. I am looking for opinions on what people think of the future of both products and how they compete. LoadRunner's strengths include its vast array of protocols supported. Unfortunately since HP took over from Mercury, they are beginning to lag behind, especially in the new internet spaces. VSTS Test, once very limited, is now quite impressive, especially in 2010. I don't know if it makes business sense, but I would love for VSTS Test to take on some additional protocols. Many of my clients would like to move away from HP and their licensing costs. Finally, I am looking for good resources for VSTS Test. I have been playing with it, but would like to see some dedicated courses/material, instead of just a part of the larger VSTS. Thanks!

• Is there a tool for generating a DSL parser that does not require a runtime for the resultant parser

  I'm doing a lot of work with a DSLs at the moment and was wondering if anyone knew of a tool that could generate a parser for my bnf specification that does not require a run-time library (pure java source parser)? I'm committed to using XTEXT for a future Eclipse plug-in but I need a nice small version for my library itself and don't want to add another jar dependency. It seems that ANTLR requires a run-time to parse files and I performed a Google search with no avail. Can anyone help out? Thanks, Chris

• How to detect code duplication during development ?

  We have a fairly large code base, 400K LOC of C++, and code duplication is something of a problem. Are there any tools which can effectively detect duplicated blocks of code? Ideally this would be something that developers could use during development rather than just run occasionally to see where the problems are. It would also be nice if we could integrate such a tool with CruiseControl to give a report after each check in. I had a look at Duploc some time ago, it showed a nice graph but requires a smalltalk environment to use it, which makes running it automatically rather difficult. Free tools would be nice, but if there are some good commercial tools I would also be interested.

• Spark View Engine: How to set default master page name?

  I use Spark View Engine with nested master pages. I have Application.spark which defines the basic layout of the website. Then there are several other masters which themselves use Application.spark as master page (Default.spark, SinlgeColumn.spark, Gallery.spark, ...) If no master page is specified in a view file, then automatically Application.spark is choosen by the Spark View Engine. Since almost all my pages use "Default.spark" as master, is there a way to configure this globally? The other possibilities would be: Set the master in each spark file individually <use master="Default" />. But that's really annoying. Rename my master files (Default.spark <- Application.spark) but that really doesn't make any sense in naming.

  I seem to be getting nowhere with this. Either searching the web for a script, etc. Anyone got a script that you can just edit the out-of-box pre-commit.tmpl in a Windows environment that requires x chars to be entered in for a comment on commit in Tortoise Subversion globally so that all members on the team are required whereas this requirement is pushed down to the clients from SVN server? I don't know the scripting language and this should be something pretty damn simple without me taking the time to figure out scripting for the next 3 hours.

  I'm writing some code that uses some unmanaged calls into user32 functions such as SetWindowsHookEx, etc. This requires me to use lots of constants that I'm not sure what their value is. For example, if I want to set the hook as a low-level mouse hook I need to know that WM_MOUSE_LL = 14. Where can I look these up? I need to know what WM_MOUSEMOVE, WM_MOUSEDOWN, and more are. When I'm dealing with interop code, what is the easiest way for me to find these? Is it possible for me to import them into C# so they will be defined?

• CSS vertcial centering split background image not overlapping

  is it possible to split 2 images vertically and when resizing the browser, it wont overlap but stay vertically centered? can the left image stay fixed so the right side of it won't cut off(overlap) this is what i have now, but when resizing the browser smaller, it pushes the left image underneath the right. rather have the images cut off on the outer sides and never overlap each other in the middle, make sense? wrapper { width:1680px; max-width:1680px; height:500px; margin: 0 auto; } left-image { width: 50%; position:absolute; left: auto; height:500px; } right-image { width: 50%; position:absolute; right: 0px; height:500px; }

  I'm familiar with using NSLocalizedString() to localize strings, but the problem I have today requires a little more finesse. My situation is like this: NSString *userName; //the users name, entered by the user. Does not need localized NSString *favoriteFood; //the users favorite food, also entered by user, and not needing localized NSString *summary = [NSString stringWithFormat:@"%@'s favorite food is %@", userName, favoriteFood]; This works fine for english, but not every language uses the same word ordering as English, for example, a word-by-word translation of the same sentance from Japanese into English would read: UserName's favorite food pizza is Not to mention that 's is doesn't make a possessive in every language. What techniques are available for localizing this type of concatenated sentence?

  Hi there, I'm a (complete) php noob and need a little help with something. I'm working on a project whereby a user can select up to 6 categories via a form (I'm using ExpressionEngine). The output is like this: "Cat1","Cat2","Cat3" ...and so on. The user can select up to 6 categories on that form. What I need: even if my result is 3 categories I need to have 6 'cells' - for want of a better word - even if they're empty: "Cat1","Cat2","Cat3","","","" I've tried this: <?php $str = '(output goes here)'; print_r(explode(',', $str, 6)); ?> ...but the output give me: Array ( [0] => Cat1 [1] => Cat2 [2] => Cat3 [3] => [4] => [5] => ) How do I get from that to this: "Cat1","Cat2","Cat3","","","" Does this make sense? • UI Terminology: Logon vs Login

  I am crafting an application and cannot decide whether to use the terms Login/out or Logon/off. Is there a more correct option between these two? Should I use something else entirely (like "Sign on/off"). In terms of usability, as long as I am consistent it probably doesn't matter which terms I choose, but I did wonder about the origins of the terms - and whether one or another makes more grammatical sense. I also care deeply about the application I am creating, and want to take the time to investigate all aspects of its user experience.

• Google Maps, Ruby on Rails, Zoom level with one marker

  I am adding google maps support with apneadiving / Google-Maps-for-Rails (thanks awesome gem) I am finding one slight glitch, however, which very likely is my fault. auto_zoom works great when there are multiple markers. However, when there is only one marker it is zoomed in to the max level which is not pretty. "zoom" will only work when auto_zoom is false, so that's not what I want. So therefore you could use "maxZoom" but now users cannot zoom in manually beyond that point which is not what I want. Is there a way around this? Is my explanation making sense? Is this a limitation of Google Maps API? Thanks...

• What is the bit size of long on 64-bit Windows?

  Not to long ago someone told me that long are not 64 bits on 64 bit machines and i should always use int. This did not make sense to me. I seen docs (such as the one on apples official site) say that long are indeed 64 bits when compiling for a 64bit CPU. I looked up what it was on windows and found Windows: long and int remain 32-bit in length, and special new data types are defined for 64-bit integers. from http://www.intel.com/cd/ids/developer/asmo-na/eng/197664.htm?page=2 What should i use? should i define something like uw, sw ((un)signed width) as a long if not on windows. Otherwise do a check on the target CPU bitsize?

• XPATH - Select all child nodes with a specific attribute

  Hi, what would be the xpath for the following: Find all child nodes with a specific attibute value but starting from a node with a specific attribute value. This is kind of related to a question I posted earlier about parsing and rdf xml file - I thought I had solved it but not quite yet. For example I am trying to parse and grab all of the rdf:about attribute values. I have this working fine. I need to add the following condition though - parsing needs to start after a specific rdf:about value is found. I am working in php and and using DomDocument and am using the following xpath query: $xpath-query('//@rdf:about') - it is finding all rdf:about attributes fine. I need to extend this to only find thos attributes that come after the node who rdf:about attribute is equal to something. Hope this makes sense.
