• Import Data from text file into sql DB using CSLA

  I am trying to import data from ~ Delimited Text file into SQL Server using CSLA. My text file has 92,000 records in it. Here are the issues i am having with the import When i create a BusinnessListBase .new and add all my records to it, it gives me a "Out of meory exception". So to fix it i create a new bussinessbase object and save it. this works fine and is much faster too. It takes 15 minutes I have to run my program again and check for any changes and hence update them, this is where it takes too much time. Is there any alternative way to speed up my import?

• Cron expressions: leading zeros ok?

  A quartz-scheduled process did not kick off last evening. The only thing that looks like it MIGHT be off is that, in one entry: 0 00 23 13,15 APR ? The "minutes" field is specified as a 2-digit 00 rather than a single-digit 0. I can't find any definitive cron documentation saying whether or not this would cause a problem. I can't test it again until the off-hours. Anyone know for sure if this could be a problem? if so, it's rather a silly one.

We are running multiple webshops in a SAAS application where it is possible that users are adding products, buying products and paying for products online, and so on... We have a deployment scenario set up using phing (amazing tool!) but we are missing one crucial step being the "locking of the live site" while deploying. • Labelsize appears bigger in VB.Net

  I'm trying to stack a few lists on top of each other. But the label.size.height appears to be bigger then the label itself. When i set the borderstyle to fixedsingle, i see the border around the text. But the height is bigger, so there comes a space between one label and the next. I have tried to set margin and padding to 0 without result. Exemple: label.size.height return 23, when the height actually is something around 15. Does someone knows how i get the right size? Edit: When i explicitly set the height of the lable, the problem is solved. Is this some problem with autosize?

• How to implement a timer for regular events?

  I would like to implement some timers into my application. My goal is to provide an easy way to execute some function every x seconds/minutes so I thought about implementing a 1 sec, 5 sec and 15 seconds timer. The first thing i would like to update every 1 second is the built in clock (don't know if there is any other solution in c#, used this method in c++) Another use would be e.g. a sync function etc. which shall be executed every xx seconds. My question is if there are any useful tutorials on this topic? It is the first time that I would like to implement such an timer system into one of my applications and I do not know if there are any things I have to keep in mind. • Can C++ memory leaks negatively affect CPU usage?

  Hi all, I have a C++ program that has a pretty terrible memory leak, about 4MB / second. I know where it's coming from and can fix it, but that's not my main problem. My program is taking up a very large amount of CPU usage and it isn't running as fast as I want it to. I have two different threads in the program. One by itself takes ~50% CPU, which is fine, and the other by itself takes ~15% CPU, which is fine. Together however CPU usage is 100% and the program cannot run as fast as it needs to. Can a memory leak by itself cause a problem like this? I know the program will eventually crash due to the leaked memory, but does a memory leak immediately lead to a slower program? By immediately I mean the program is too slow at the very start, not just when the memory footprint is huge. Thanks!

  In R, I have a data frame with columns for Seat (factor), Party (factor) and Votes (numeric). I want to create a summary data frame with columns for Seat, Winning party, and Vote share. For example, from the data frame df <- data.frame(party=rep(c('Lab','C','LD'),times=4), votes=c(1,12,2,11,3,10,4,9,5,8,6,15), seat=rep(c('A','B','C','D'),each=3)) I want to get the output seat winner voteshare 1 A C 0.8000000 2 B Lab 0.4583333 3 C C 0.5000000 4 D LD 0.5172414 I can figure out how to achieve this. But I'm sure there must be a better way, probably a cunning one-liner using Hadley Wickham's reshape package. Any suggestions? For what it's worth, my solution uses a function from my package djwutils_2.10.zip and is invoked as follows. But there are all sorts of special cases it doesn't deal with, so I'd rather rely on someone else's code. aggregateList(df, by=list(seat=seat), FUN=list(winner=function(x) x$party[which.max(x$votes)], voteshare=function(x) max(x$votes)/sum(x$votes)))

• using subset but old variables still left

  I am working with a data set, which is basically daily usage data (let's just say variable X and Y) by different cities (about 150 cities). I have created a subset of data for only specific cities, choosing just 3 of the 150 cities. Then when I do tapply by cities, I get means for 3 cities but also get NA for all other 147 cities that was in the data set. I am using the below coding df<-read.csv(...) df_sub<-subset(df,df$City==1|df$City==3|df$City==19) X_Breakdown<-tapply(X,df_sub$City, mean, na.rm=TRUE) Print(X_Breakdown) City 1 City 2 15 NA City 3 City 4 12 NA City 5 City 6 NA NA Hope you get the idea. I would like to get a dataset that only contains the 3 cities that I'm interested in. It seems that the set of variables is encoded in R, is there a way to fix this? Kindly advise. Thanks

• What's the best way to call jQuery scripts, in HTML/PHP template, or seperate js file?

  StackOverflow is telling me this is a subjective question, but I think it's a matter of fact! I have a number of scripts that I'm using on different parts of my site. In terms of making fewer http requests, I know it's better to combine all of these scripts into one .js file. However, isn't a waste of time for a page to call a .js full of 10 or 15 different functions when it's only using one? The other method I am using is to use PHP conditional statements... <?php if( is_page() ) { > $(document).ready(function(){ ... }); <?php } ?> What's the best method or comination of these methods?

  Hi, I am using valgrind callgrind to profile a program on gtk. And then I use kcachedgrind to read the result. I have captured an update a screenshot of kcachedgrind here: http://i41.tinypic.com/168spk0.jpg. It said the function gtk_moz_embed_new() costed '15.61%'. But I dont understand how is that possible. the function gtk_moz_embed_new() literally has 1 line: and it is just calling a g_object_new(). • C++ Beginner - Best way to read 3 consecutive values from the command line?

  Hello everyone, I am writing a text-based Scrabble implementation for a college project. The specification states that the user's position input must be read from single line, like this: Coordinates of the word's first letter and orientation (<A – P> <1 – 15> <H ou V>): G 5 H G 5 H is the user's input for that particular example. The order, as shown, must be char int char. What is the best way to read the user's input? cin >> row >> column >> orientation will cause crashes if the user screws up. A getline and a subsequent string parser are a valid solution, but represent a bit of work. Is there another, better, way to do this, that I am missing? Thanks for your time!

What im concerned about is that how will my php file will fetch these parameters ??   Say I have a list of datetimes, and we know each datetime to be the recorded time of an event happening. Is it possible in matplotlib to graph the frequency of this event occuring over time, showing this data in a cumulative graph (so that each point is greater or equal to all of the points that went before it), without preprocessing this list? (e.g. passing datetime objects directly to some wonderful matplotlib function) Or do I need to turn this list of datetimes into a list of dictionary items, such as: {"year": 1998, "month": 12, "date": 15, "events": 92} and then generate a graph from this list? Sorry if this seems like a silly question - I'm not all too familiar with matplotlib, and would like to save myself the effort of doing this the latter way if matplotlib can already deal with datetime objects itself.
