• Override HTML Anchor Link Target inside iFrame

  We're calling an ad from an ad network to dynamically load an add using JavaScript. It makes an iFrame with the actual ad in it, a picture wrapped in an anchor tag with the target=_top. Is there a way from our page to change its target and capture the attempt to change our page. Also, our page is loaded in a C#.net program using a WebControl (I forget the actual control being used since it was a while ago). We can change the C# code but we really prefer not to because then we'd have to test it and everything. Is there a way to do this with JavaScript or JQuery?

• Add a delay to OnContactDown events for Surface controls

  We're using the Controls.PreviewContactDown, PreviewContactUp, and PreviewContactChanged events to capture tagged items being placed, removed, and moved on the Surface, which works great in the Simulator application that comes with the surface. On an actual Surface if you moved a tagged item too quickly the cameras actually lose focus of the tag, assume it was removed, and then re-capture it when it stops moving. That provides a pretty poor experience for our clients. What I'm proposing is a way to override or create a new event that would respond to tagged item events, but not fire the event handler until after a delay... i.e. if "ContactUp" is fired, wait 100ms and THEN execute the event handler. Ideally we'd just be able to use an alternate attached property to define these event handlers, i.e. <Panel local:TagDown="TagDownEventHandler" /> And if we could get it to use ICommand objects instead of event handlers that'd be even better.

  How does the Same Origin Policy apply to the following two domains? http://server1.MyDomain.com http://server2.MyDomain.com Can I run JS on a page hosted on server1, if the content is retreived from server2? edit according to Daniel's answer below, I can include scripts between different subdomains using the <script> tag, but what about asynchronous requests? What if I download a script from server2 onto the page hosted on server1. Can I use the script to communicate asynchronously with a service on server2?

• jQuery.load() Retrieving partial page content causes duplicate ID in DOM

  Hello all, I currently have a JS function that allows me to load partial content from another page into the current page using jQuery.load() However I noticed when using this that I get a duplicate ID in the DOM (when inspecting with FireBug) This function is used in conjuction with a Flash Building viewe so it does not contain any code to retrieve the URL from the anchor tag. function displayApartment(apartmentID) { $("#apartmentInfo").load(siteURL + apartmentID + ".aspx #apartmentInfo", function () { //re-do links loaded in $("a.gallery").colorbox({ opacity: "0.5" }); }); } The code above works just fine in retrieving the content, however it just bugs me that when inspecting with firebug I get something like this. <div id="apartmentInfo"> <div id="apartmentInfo"> <!-- Remote HTML here..... --> </div> </div> Can anyone please suggest anything on how to remove the duplicate div? How can i add an event handler to handle selection change event on TreeViewItems? Given an .ics such as: http://www.hebcal.com/export/ba/8a35a5efbb27548bc0272b94b8de96.ics?subscribe=1&v=1&year=2010&month=x&nh=on&tag=fp.ql&c=off How would I go about using YQL to select certain events based on fields, etc. I've tried the standard formats, and the only format that seems to even parse the file is HTML - which puts it all in a <p>, and removes the line returns that give the file meaning. I've had some success with using Yahoo Pipe's Fetch Feed Source, but was wondering if it's possible to do this entirely in YQL. Any ideas?

• Is it a Good Practice to Write HTML Using a StringBuilder in my ASP.NET Codebehind?

  I'm interested to hear from other developers their opinion on an approach that I typically take. I have a web application, asp.net 2.0, c#. What I usually do to write out drop downs, tables, input controls, etc. is in the code behind use StringBuilder and write out something like sb.Append(" I don't find myself using to many .net controls as I typically write out the html in the code behind. When I want to use jQuery or call JavaScript I just put that function call in my sb.Append tag like sb.Append("td...onblur='fnCallJS()'. I've gotten pretty comfortable with this approach. For data access I use EntitySpaces. I'm just kind of curious if this sort of approach is horribly wrong, ok depending on the context, good, time to learn 3.0, etc. I'm interested in learning and was just looking for some input.

  I have an email script written in .Net that sends html emails. The email uses normal html hyperlinks to insert a link in the email, like this: <a href="http://www.stackoverflow.com/">StackOverflow</a> The problem is that in Entourage, a hyperlink like this always shows up for me like this: StackOverflow < http://www.stackoverflow.com/ > How can I format the hyperlink in my email so that in Entourage the text "StackOverflow" is the actual hyperlink, and the URL is not displayed after the text? Is there an html meta tag that needs to be set? Do I have to set the content-type somewhere? Or is there a different html syntax on the hyperlink itself that I should use?

• asp.net 2.0 session timeout

  I apologize in advance for this likely being asked before. I have an asp.net 2.0 web application and am trying to set the session timeout. My first attempt was to add this to the web.config. < sessionState mode="InProc" timeout="300" Users would tell me though that after about 20 minutes of being idle and then trying to do something again on the site they'd be redirected back to the login page. So now I'm trying timeout="60" in my < forms tag in the web.config. I also tried Session.Timeout=60 in my global.asax. Should these work? Do I need something else? Thank you for your time and help.

• Any working tutorials for Authlogic?

  I've been trying to build my first rails app and have gotten stuck on the issue of user authentication. I've found a number of tutorials for using various plug-ins to do this, but so far every single one of them is out-dated, and as a result, broken! From what I've read, I think Authlogic may be the best fit for me, and I've tried two things: 1) Going through Railscast, episode #160 (which is a tutorial for setting it up) 2) Using Ryan B's nifty_authentication gem with the --authlogic tag In both cases, I get the following error as soon as I try to do anything with a user: undefined local variable or method `acts_as_authentic' for # I believe this is from the User model: class User < ActiveRecord::Base acts_as_authentic end I'm sure I've installed the authlogic gem, and I've added config.gem "authlogic" to my environment.rb Any ideas about what's wrong? Anybody know of a complete and up to date tutorial for adding user authentication?

• Problem using Blend 3 Interaction.Behaviours in VS2010

  There seems to be a problem with support for the Interactivity namespace of Blend 3 in the VS2010 xaml editor. I have the following installed: VS2010 Blend 3 + Blend 3 SDK I am trying to compile a demo project that is targeted at .Net 4 Client Profile and has a reference to System.Windows.Interactivity (in the Blend 3 folder). In the object browser everything appears to be fine. I can also access Interaction.Behaviours from code-behind, but if I put the namespace xmlns:i="http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/2010/interactivity" in the xaml file and try to use it, the intellisense is blank. If I copy something in there anyway, the compiler says: The tag 'Interaction.Behaviors' does not exist in XML namespace 'http://schemas.microsoft.com/expression/2010/interactivity'. Do I need to install Blend 4 RC or something?

• Playing dynamically embedded sound object via Javascript

  I need to background load some WAV files for an HTML page using AJAX. I use AJAX to get the details of the WAV files, then use the embed tag, and I can confirm that the files have loaded successfully because when I set autostart to true, the files play. However, I need the files to play only when the user clicks on a button (or an event is fired). The following is my code to preload these files: function preloadMedia() { for(var i = 0; i < testQuestions.length; i++) { var soundEmbed = document.createElement("embed"); soundEmbed.setAttribute("src", "/media/sounds/" + testQuestions[i].mediaFile); soundEmbed.setAttribute("hidden", true); soundEmbed.setAttribute("id", testQuestions[i].id); soundEmbed.setAttribute("autostart", false); soundEmbed.setAttribute("width", 0); soundEmbed.setAttribute("height", 0); soundEmbed.setAttribute("enablejavascript", true); document.body.appendChild((soundEmbed)); } } I use the following code to play the file (based on what sound file that user wants to play) function soundPlay(which) { var sounder = document.getElementById(which); sounder.Play(); } Something is wrong here, as none of the browsers I have tested on play the files using the code above. There are no errors, and the code just returns. I would have left it at that (that is - I would have convinced the client to convert all WAV's to MP3 and use MooTools). But I realized that I could play the sound files, which were not dynamically embeded. Thus, the same soundPlay function would work for a file embeded in the following manner: <embed src="/media/sounds/hug_sw1.wav" id="sound2" width="0" heigh="0" autostart="false" enablejavascript="true"/> anywhere within the HTML. And it plays well in all the browsers. Anyone have a clue on this? Is this some sort of undocumented security restriction in all the browsers? (Please remember that the files do get preloaded dynamically, as I can confirm by setting the autostart property to true - They all play). Any help appreciated.

  I would like to extract the GPS EXIF tag from pictures using php. I'm using the exif_read_data() that returns a array of all tags + data : GPS.GPSLatitudeRef: N GPS.GPSLatitude:Array ( [0] => 46/1 [1] => 5403/100 [2] => 0/1 ) GPS.GPSLongitudeRef: E GPS.GPSLongitude:Array ( [0] => 7/1 [1] => 880/100 [2] => 0/1 ) GPS.GPSAltitudeRef: GPS.GPSAltitude: 634/1 I don't know how to interpret 46/1 5403/100 and 0/1 ? 46 might be 46° but what about the rest especially 0/1 ? angle/1 5403/100 0/1 What is this structure about ? How to convert them to "standard" ones (like 46°56'48?N 7°26'39?E from wikipedia) ? I would like to pass thoses coordinates to the google maps api to display the pictures positions on a map !

• Knowledge base web app -- need a demo mode

  I was contracted to build an on-line knowledge base that searches and cross-references many thousands of replacement parts for a niche industry. My client furnishes this app to his customers on a subscription basis. It uses MySQL and PHP and it works great. I want to deploy it in "demo mode" to sell my skills. I want the user to see the functions, but I have to guard the data for my client. My first idea was to obfuscate the results. That's at cross-purposes with showing how well it searches. I'm considering a limit on how many searches you can perform, but that's awkward too as someone could visit every day and get more answers than we would prefer. Other posts I've found are about letting people interact with an app, but without the challenge of protecting a big knowledge base. Can you suggest an approach? (Note, I put the tag obfuscation, but not sure it applies because java code obfuscation seems to be unrelated.)

If I have a look in the soap request there is now header tag . Why not? • Adb shell commands to change settings or perform tasks on a phone

  How do I use adb to perform some automated tasks on my android phone? I need to find commands that I can issue from the command line (ideally, using a .bat file) that will be capable of more than simply opening an application or sending an input keyevent (button press). For instance, I want to toggle Airplane Mode on or off from the command line. Currently, the best I can do is launch the Wireless & network settings menu and then use input keyevents to click Airplane mode: adb shell am start -a android.settings.AIRPLANE_MODE_SETTINGS adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 23 There are quite a few drawbacks to this method, primarily that the screen has to be on and unlocked. Also, the tasks I want to do are much broader than this simple example. Other things I'd like to do if possible: 1.Play an mp3 and set it on repeat. Current solution: adb shell am start -n com.android.music/.MusicBrowserActivity adb shell input keyevent 84 adb shell input keyevent 56 & adb shell input keyevent 66 & adb shell input keyevent 67 & adb shell input keyevent 19 adb shell input keyevent 23 & adb shell input keyevent 21 adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 19 & adb shell input keyevent 22 & adb shell input keyevent 22 & adb shell input keyevent 23 & adb shell input keyevent 23 2.Play a video. (current solution: open MediaGallery, send keyevents, similar to above) 3.Change the volume (current solution: send volume-up button keyevents) 4.Change the display timeout (current solution: open sound & display settings, send keyevents) As before, these all require the screen to be on and unlocked. The other major drawback to using keyevents is if the UI of the application is changed, the keyevents will no longer perform the correct function. If there is no easier way to do these sort of things, is there at least a way to turn the screen on (using adb) when it is off? Or to have keyevents still work when the screen is off? I'm not very familiar with java. That said, I've seen code like the following (source: http://yenliangl.blogspot.com/2009/12/toggle-airplane-mode.html) to change a setting on the phone: Settings.System.putInt(Settings.System.AIRPLANE_MODE_ON, 1 /* 1 or 0 */); How do I translate something like the above into an adb shell command?   I'm trying to find out if anyone knows about an already existing jQuery plugin that will count up to a target number at a specified speed. For example, take a look at Google's number of MB of free storage on the Gmail homepage, under the heading that reads "Lots of space". It has a starting number in a <span> tag, and slowly counts upward every second. I'm looking for something similar, but I'd like to be able to specify: The start number The end number The amount of time it should take to get from start to end. A custom callback function that can execute when a counter is finished.

• Leaving out type="text/javascript" language="javascript"

  Most of the script tags I create, I always include type="text/javascript" language="javascript" in the tag. My boss however does not. Sometimes he excludes both, sometimes just has language=javascript even without the quotes Now we have not had an issue in any of the major browsers with his tags. I'm talking about all versions of IE, FF, Safari, and Chrome. Personally I feel it's laziness and just totally improper and bad coding practice to leave stuff out like this even if it works without it. Anyone know if both should be included or just one or is it ok to leave both out in ASP.NET?

• Getting XML parse error in coldfusion. Can the packet returned be validated?

  Getting an error on occasion on a specific CF page. Offending code listed below. Very odd because when I rebooted CF it went away. Can the XML be checked via XMLValidate to prevent this from happening? Is this some sort of CF bug since the error disappeared after reboot of CF? I have a feeling that the error will resurface at some point. An error occured while Parsing an XML document. • Cannot add table to context - LINQ-To-SQL

  Hey, I'd be happy to give you more info if you need, just ask for it. I have in my database a table of articles, a table of tags and a link table. The article table has values like Id, Subject etc etc, the tags only have Id and Tag. The link has TagId and ArticleId. The problem is that when I drag drop the link-table nothing happens! This all worked before I decided to rename my column in the tables from "ID" to "Id" to correct spelling. Thanks in advance!
