Applescript create event in calendar, how do I remove the default alert?

Running 10.8 Mountain Lion, I'm trying to create a new event with Applescript like this: set theDate to (current date) tell application "Calendar" tell calendar "Calendar" set timeString to time string of theDate set newEvent to make new event at end with properties {description:"Last Backup", summary:"Last Backup " & timeString, location:"To a local unix system", start date:theDate, end date:theDate + 15 * minutes, allday event:false, status:confirmed} tell newEvent delete every display alarm delete every sound alarm delete every mail alarm delete every open file alarm end tell end tell end tell However, this does not remove the default Calendar alert which one can set through Calendar preferences (30 minutes prior in my case). How do I create an event with no alarms at all through Applescript?

Node.js installation on Debian 6

I used to use this method for node.js installation on Debian, since it was easy and everything worked fine. Even with multiple users. Since version 0.6.18~dfsg1-1 of the sid package, installation removes openssh-server. But I need OpenSSH to connect to my server. Is there any possibility to install Node.js via APT or do I have to compile it manually? Stopping immediate right button up in Mint 13 (Cinnamon) actioning first menu choice

In Windows, a single right click (i.e., with release) displays a context menu on the screen, allowing you to select the appropriate choice with a further click from either button. In Mint 13, Cinnamon, it's hold down the right button, drag, then release on the appropriate menu choice. Both methods are fine, but constantly using both OSs regularly, I'm doing the Windows procedure in Mint by mistake all the time. This makes the single right click and release bring up the context menu and immediately action the first menu choice. Is there any mechanism to ignore right-button-up if a substantial dragging action or time period hasn't occurred, and have Mint looking for a further click to select?

New 64 bit linux system has regular processes (ps, grep etc) taking up way too much VIRT mem

We just moved from a 32-bit machine to a 64-bit machine. We have quickly ran out of memory despite the new boxes have twice as much ram as the old boxes. Windows 8 Update on Bootcamp

I currently have Windows 8 Consumer Preview installed on a Mac Bootcamp Partition. Microsoft recently released the Windows 8 Release Preview, and I'd like to upgrade, but I'm worried that upgrading to the Release Preview (while in the Windows 8 partition) will erase my other partitions (ex. the Mac OS X partition). By upgrading from Consumer to Release (using the installer on Microsoft's website) while IN the Windows 8 partition, will it end up re-formating the whole hard drive / erasing partitions / removing Mac OS X? Are there any 100% positive answers out there? Will this work, and if not then how would you suggest updating? Note: I have a Time Machine backup of my Mac, but it isn't the WHOLE Mac.

Multi-level navigation controller on left-hand side of UISplitView with a small twist.

Hi. I'm trying make something similar to (but not exactly like) the email app found on the iPad. Specifically, I'd like to create a tab-based app, but each tab would present the user with a different UISplitView. Each UISplitView contains a Master and a Detail view (obviously). In each UISplitView I would like the Master to be a multi-level navigational controller where new UIViewControllers are pushed onto (or popped off of) the stack. This type of navigation within the UISplitView is where the application is similar to the native email app. To the best of my knowledge, the only place that has described a decent "splitviewcontroller inside of a uitabbarcontroller" is here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2475139/uisplitviewcontroller-in-a-tabbar-uitabbarcontroller and I've tried to follow the accepted answer. The accepted solution seems to work for me (i.e., I get a tab-bar controller that allows me to switch between different UISplitViews). The problem is that I don't know how to make the left-hand side of the UISplitView to be a multi-level navigation controller. Visual Studio compiles WPF application twice during build

I have a WPF app in VS2008 that compiles twice during the build. The two CSC command lines are similar but with some differences. The first CSC command line does not have an /resource options, the second has two /resource options on the command line. git local master branch stopped tracking remotes/origin/master, can't push

Just when I thought I'd got the hang of the git checkout -b newbranch - commit/commit/commit - git checkout master - git merge newbranch - git rebase -i master - git push workflow in git, something blew up, and I can't see any reason for it. Here's the general workflow, which has worked for me in the past: # make sure I'm up to date on master: $ git checkout master $ git pull # k, no conflicts # start my new feature $ git checkout -b FEATURE9 # master @ 2f93e34 Switched to a new branch 'FEATURE9' ... work, commit, work, commit, work, commit... $ git commit -a $ git checkout master $ git merge FEATURE9 $ git rebase -i master # squash some of the FEATURE9 ugliness Ok so far; now what I expect to see -- and normally do see -- is this: $ git status # On branch master # Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 1 commit. # nothing to commit (working directory clean) But instead, I only see "nothing to commit (working directory clean)", no "Your branch is ahead of 'origin/master' by 1 commit.", and git pull shows this weirdness: $ git pull From . # unexpected * branch master -> FETCH_HEAD # unexpected Already up-to-date. # expected And git branch -a -v shows this: $ git branch -a -v FEATURE9 3eaf059 started feature 9 * master 3eaf059 started feature 9 remotes/origin/HEAD -> origin/master remotes/origin/master 2f93e34 some boring previous commit # should=3eaf059 git branch clearly shows that I'm currently on * master, and git log clearly shows that master (local) is at 3eaf059, while remotes/origin/HEAD - remotes/origin/master is stuck back at the fork. Ideally I'd like to know the semantics of how I might have gotten into this, but I would settle for a way to get my working copy tracking the remote master again & get the two back in sync without losing history. Thanks! (Note: I re-cloned the repo in a new directory and manually re-applied the changes, and everything worked fine, but I don't want that to be the standard workaround.) Addendum: The title says "can't push", but there's no error message. I just get the "already up to date" response even though git branch -a -v shows that local master is ahead of /remotes/origin/master. What I want to be able to do is assign a Command, or use an event, so that when the user clicks on the Day it will notify the parent of the Day object that it has been clicked. I've tried the following: <Rectangle.CommandBindings> <CommandBinding Command="{x:Static local:Day.NextDay}" Executed="{x:Static local:Day.OnExecutedDayClick}" CanExecute="{x:Static local:Day.OnCanExecuteDayClick}"/> </Rectangle.CommandBindings> to try and bind the commands that are in the Day class but it didn't work. I got an error stating: 'ResourceDictionary' root element requires a x:Class attribute to support event handlers in the XAML file. Either remove the event handler for the Executed event, or add a x:Class attribute to the root element. Which I think means that there is no code-behind file for a ResourceDictionary, or something to that effect. In any event, I'm not sure if I should be using Commands here, or somehow tying events to the Rectangle in question, or if this is even possible. I've seen various places where it sure looks like it's possible, I'm just unable to translate what I'm seeing into something that actually works, hence this post. Thanks in advance.

Where to Store the Protection Trial Info for Software Protection Purpose

It might be duplicate with other questions, but I swear that I googled a lot and search at StackOverflow.com a lot, and I cannot find the answer to my question: In a C#.Net application, where to store the protection trial info, such as Expiration Date, Number of Used Times? I understand that, all kinds of Software Protection strategies can be cracked by a sophiscated hacker (because they can almost always get around the expiration checking step). But what I'm now going to do is just to protect it in a reasonable manner that a "common"/"advanced" user cannot screw it up. OK, in order to proof that I have googled and searched a lot at StackOverflow.com, I'm listing all the possible strategies I got: 1. Registry Entry First, some users might not have the access to even read the Registry table. Second, if we put the Protection Trial Info in a Registry Entry, the user can always find it out where it is by comparing the differences before and after the software installation. They can just simply change it. OK, you might say that we should encrypt the Protection Trial Info, yes we can do that. But what if the user just change their system date before installing? OK, you might say that we should also put a last-used date, if something is wrong, the last-used date could work as a protection guide. But what if the user just uninstall the software and delete all Registry Entries related to this software, and then reinstall the software? I have no idea on how to deal with this. Please help. A Plain File First, there are some places to put the plain file: 2.a) a simple XML file under software installation path 2.b) configuration file Again, the user can just uninstall the software and remove these plain file(s), and reinstall the software. - The Software Itself If we put the protection trial info (Expiration Date, we cannot put Number of Used Times) in the software itself, it is still susceptible to the cases I mentioned above. Furthermore, it's not even cool to do so. - A Trial Product-Key It works like a licensing process, that is, we put the Trial info into an RSA-signed string. However, it requires too many steps for a user to have a try of using the software (they might lose patience): 4.a) The user downloads the software; 4.b) The user sends an email to request a Trial Product-Key by providing user name (or email) or hardware info; 4.c) The server receives the request, RSA-signs it and send back to the user; 4.d) The user can now use it under the condition of (Expiration Date & Number of Used Times). Now, the server has a record of the user's username or hardware info, so the user will be rejected to request a second trial. Is it legal to collection hardware info? In a word, the user has to do one more extra step (request a Trial Product Key) just for having a try of using the software, which is not cool (thinking myself as a user). NOTE: This question is not about the Licensing, instead, it's about where to store the TRIAL info. After the trial expires, the user should ask for a license (CD-Key/Product-Key). I'm going to use RSA signature (bound to User Hardware)

Objective-C woes: cellForRowAtIndexPath crashes.

I want to the user to be able to search for a record in a DB. The fetch and the results returned work perfectly. I am having a hard time setting the UItableview to display the result tho. Eclipse will not show 2.3 emulator for android compatibility package code

I am trying to learn fragments to modernize an app I originally wrote for android 1.5 that uses Date Picker Dialog. I am using the android-support-v4 library. When I run the code in Eclipse Juno 20120614-1722 it only shows android 4.0 emulators and there is a red X beside my Samsung phone running 2.3.5. When I push the package to phone, the code runs. Hey All, Sorry for reposting(Admins, please delete the other one!). since you guys have been a great help, I was kinda hoping that you could help me once again while having the following question: I am currently trying to work with AJAX by allowing a managerclass in PHP to communicate via an XmlHttpobject with the javascript on the clientside. However, I can send something to the client via JSON, but I cannot read it at the clientside. In fact I am getting the error that the "time" is an undefined index in Session. Unable to use NSURLConnection to get contents of password/username protected webpage

I am trying to get the contents of a webpage that requires a password and user name to access. I am using a NSURLConnection object to get it however when I write the NSMutableData object that is returned to a file all I get is the login page. Normally when you try to load the password protected page when you are not logged in it redirects to the login page however I thought that if I provided valid credentials then this I would be able to view the password protected page. Also I do not know if it is relevant the website is using a microsoft mysql database on an IIS (internet information server). Note: [protectionSpace authenticationMethod] returns NSURLAuthenticationMethodServerTrust I am pretty unfamiliar with this so any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Hi,In my richCalendar.jsp page, first time i click the showCurrentMonth button and display the current month using rich:calendar. i select some other month i click SelectedMonth button. I show the selected month name. My problem is : I go to any other page. then i come visit the richCalendar.jsp and again click showCurrentMonth button, this time the rich:calendar show the already selected month instead of current month . How do I get jqGrid to work using ASP.NET + JSON on the backend?

Hi friends, ok, I'm back. I totally simplified my problem to just three simple fields and I'm still stuck on the same line using the addJSONData method. I've been stuck on this for days and no matter how I rework the ajax call, the json string, blah blah blah...I can NOT get this to work! I can't even get it to work as a function when adding one row of data manually. Can anyone PLEASE post a working sample of jqGrid that works with ASP.NET and JSON? Would you please include 2-3 fields (string, integer and date preferably?) I would be happy to see a working sample of jqGrid and just the manual addition of a JSON object using the addJSONData method. Thanks SO MUCH!! App is crashing as soon as UITableView gets reloaded

Hello, I'm developing an app where TableView needs to reload as soon as the login process gets completed. The app crashes with error EXC_BAD_ACCESS when the table data gets reloaded. It doesn't crash when I remove all case instances except case 0: What could be the reason behind it?
