  • Mysql server won't start - no logs

  • MySQL taking a long time to start

    I'm running Windows Server 2008 with MySQL installed and every time I reboot the server the MySQL Service doesn't start right away. A look into the Windows Eventlog shows that the MySQL Service was hung at startup. Looking at the Services.msc console shows the service state at Starting... Eventually, like 10 minutes, the MySQL Service actually finishes the startup process and the database becomes available for my Wordpress server... I looked at the MySQL .err files and didn't find anything that would indicate a delay in the statup process... Can anyone suggest a way to determine what is causing the delay, and more importantly, how to prevent the delay in the MySQL Startup? UPDATE: Here is the .err log contents from the shutdown to the startup complete.   • How to set up a serial connection to a Windows 7 computer

    I need to set up a "dial in" connection to a Windows 7 (Ultimate) computer via a serial null-modem cable to be able to connect from a Windows XP client to that computer and exchange data over IP. Question 1: How do I do that? I did neither find the information via Google nor in the MSDN. Seems like no one tried ever before... ;-) I already managed to install a legacy modem device called "Communications cable between two computers" and found the menu entry "New Incoming Connection..." in Network and Internet Network Connections. When I finish this wizard I get the message that the "Routing and Remote Access service" cannot be started. In the event viewer I see the following error messages: "The currently configured authentication provider failed to load and initialize successfully. The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found." (Source: RemoteAccess, EventID: 20152) "The Routing and Remote Access service terminated with service-specific error The requested name is valid, but no data of the requested type was found." (Source: Service Control Manager, EventID: 7024) The Windows 7 installation is "naked", i.e. no additional software or services are installed. Question 2: Am I on the right path to set up the connection? Question 3: How can I get the Routing and Remote Access service running?

  • Apache no longer starts at Windows boot up

    I have Apache installed as part of XAMPP - local test server. It is configured as a Windows (XP) Service. Startup type is "Automatic". For a long time now it has always started when Windows boots up, but recently this has stopped happening. I now need to start it manually via the XAMPP Control Panel - at which point it appears to start up perfectly OK. The only recent updates to the machine (that I recall) are Windows Updates - none of which appear to have "known issues" that relate to this. And updates to Google Chrome. Any ideas what could prevent Apache from starting automatically at Windows (XP) boot up? EDIT#1 There are 2 related Errors in my system event log regarding the Service Control Manager: Timeout (30000 milliseconds) waiting for the Apache2.2 service to connect. The Apache2.2 service failed to start due to the following error: The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion. When I manually start the Apache server after boot up there are 2 "information" events stating that it was "sent a start control" and that it "entered the running state". Although I notice it appears to take 19 seconds between the start control being sent and entering a running state - according to the event log. So, maybe 30 seconds during boot up isn't long enough (anymore) for Apache to start??

For those just getting started with Fusion Applications user security, this article gave some handy examples to get your going. Jani's Java Cloud Service series continued strongly, with examples of integration using ADFbc, a Web Service Proxy client, and the ADF Data Control. From Other Teams The Oracle A-Team provided a broad set of articles during May, with various topics related to Fusion Applications including patching and performance management for on-premises deployments, and generic content on both integration and data extraction via web services. As part of their presentation to Oracle Israel User Group, our AppsUX colleagues explained the fresh new type of interface to Oracle Sales, through the voice mobile apps. This was in addition to demonstrations of the newer Release 8 Simplified UI customization options. Finally Angelo, our colleague in Platform Technical Services, explained in his blog how to use the findCriteria element included in all Oracle Sales web services to reduce the data returned, making response payloads much more specific, lightweight and therefore usable. Events and Announcements Oliver explained in this post about the new set of code samples on OTN for extending Sales Cloud using Oracle Platform as a Service. In addition, a new set of cloud developer documentation was released to provide more guided-learning on extending Oracle Sales Cloud with Oracle Platform as a Service (PaaS) services.     I'm having a problem with SQL Server 2005 where the SQL Server Agent suddenly refuses to start. If I attempt to start it through Services, I get the error "SQL Server Agent (MSSQLSERVER) service on Local Computer started and then stopped." In the Application log, I have the following entry: Event Type: Error Event Source: SQLSERVERAGENT Event Category: Service Control Event ID: 103 Date: 5/20/2010 Time: 11:07:07 AM User: N/A Computer: SHAREPOINT Description: SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server 'SHAREPOINT'; SQLServerAgent cannot start). This database has been running fine for four months. It contains a SharePoint configuration database, which two days ago stopped working, throwing me a message that the configuration database cannot be reached. It was then that I realized the SQL Server Agent was not running, and I have been unable to restart it. I have tried running it with both the local system account and the network service account, with the same results. So far, I have tried: Granting the administrators group, network service, and SharePoint SQL Server Agent account public and sysadmin roles on the database. Granting the administrators group, network service, and SharePoint SQL Server Agent account full permissions to the entire MSSQL directory and all files within. I still have no joy.

  • How can I recover from SharePoint configuration errors after promoting the server to a Domain Controller?

    I have a SharePoint 2010 VM setup in VirtualBox and I was using local machine accounts to handle security on the server. While preparing for a demo it came time to have some meaningful users on my VM image. I followed some docs on promoting my server to a Domain Controller in a new forrest. So now I have [MachineName].SPDEMO.CONTOSO.com and I can add users as needed. However, when I try to connect to my SharePoint sites I am getting a white screen with the error: "Cannot connect to the configuration database" I changed the pool identity account of each of my IIS app pools to the new Administrator account and started the services successfully but I can't get the SQL services to start up. When I try to start them I get the following error: Windows could not start the SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) on Local Computer. For more information, review the System Event Log. If this is a non-Microsoft service, contact the service vendor, and refer to service-specific error code 17058. In the event log I see the following error: The SQL Server (MSSQLSERVER) service terminated with service-specific error %%17058. Can I recover from this or should I roll back or just uninstall the Domain Controller role. I'd like to keep the server as a standalone DC so I can do some user profile creation/management but I need the SharePoint bits to work as well.

    How do you find the cause of httpd errors in Fedora 16? The new systemctl command in Fedora 16 seems to horribly obscure any useful logging info. Can anyone see anything wrong with my windows ftp client example? why would it hang on ls, i tried QUOTE LIST as well, and that just hangs, and the windows ftp client doesnt work in active, it hangs if I try to go "binary" then put - This worked before I added 5500-5550 on the router. I have since added this range to the router but no difference to the windows ftp client.

  • Debugging Windows 2008 (Roaming Profile) user logon

    I would appreciate some help debugging my windows 2008 profile service. Any domain account that logs on to my 2008 machine gets a +- 20 second waiting time on "user profile service" I am using roaming profiles, they are around 8mb in size, and most folders are already redirected to a network share. event log registers no errors, there is more than 1 network card installed, but I have the correct card listed as "primary" Is there any way to increase verbosity of logging on specifically the "user profile service" ?
