  • MS project publishing to TFS web portal display

    - by denis bastarache
So, when we initially created our MPP schedule, I made use of indends / subordinates to break down the project by the various stages of the lifecycle, which is fine... no issues there... But now that I'm trying to publish this over to TFS display, it'll only pick up the actual "action items / sub-tasks" seeing as I have resource allocation specified. So for example I have an "Analysis" phase with a few items underneath, and "System Requirements" phase with the same items, so when I publish these to TFS, it won't display the "Parent" distinction between items, so both "Tasks" instances are being published in TFS under the exact same name... So, if I can't do this Automatically, I'll likely have edit each tasks with "Analysis - Item 1", "Analysis - item 2", "SRD - Item 1", "SRD - item 2"... is there a way to do this automatically, or will have to go the manual route??

  • Issue with Visual C++ 2010 (Express) External Tools command

    - by espais
Hi all, Normally we develop in VS 2005 Pro, but I wanted to give VS 2010 a spin. We have custom build tools based off of GNU make tools that are called when creating an executable. This is the error that I see whenever I call my external tool: ...\gnu\make.exe): *** couldn't commit memory for cygwin heap, Win32 error 487 The caveat is that it still works perfectly fine in VS2005, as well as being called straight from the command line. Also, my external tool is setup exactly the same as in VS 2005. Is there some setting somewhere that could cause this error to be thrown?

  • Make laptop boot to external monitor

    - by Ozzy
Hi all. Heres my setup: Dell 1737 2x Dell U2311H The laptop lid is always closed and is wall mounted behind the monitors. Every time i boot the laptop, i have to open the lid a little until it goes to the win 7 logon screen. Once there, i close the lid and both monitors get detected and the laptop screen switches off. As the laptop is wall mounted how ever, its really tedious to keep opening and closing the lid. Is there any way i can make it default to the external monitors permanently? Any suggestions are welcome, even hardware mods. Im willing to rip apart the laptop to install a switch or something if needs be lol

  • Buttons vanishing from Visual Basic Toolbar

    - by Brian Hooper
I'm using Microsoft Visual Basic 6 and am having trouble with the toolbar. Several buttons have recently vanished from the toolbar, and replacing them with the View-Toolbar option only worked temporarily. Now, however, the Toolbar button has disappeared off the View menu, and the Customize button has likewise vanished from the Tools menu. Does anyone know what the problem is, or where I can find out how to correct this?

  • Problems with undo in VS2010, I need help figuring out what is wrong

    - by IZZO
I have been battling with my Microsoft Visual C# 2010 Express for a while now. When I undo things some times it works fine and other times it replaces lines of code I didn't touch with lines I deleted. It seems to pick targets at random and most of the time I can easily repair what it has done or just not save the changes. This problem is starting to drive me crazy. Does anyone have any idea why this is happening to me? When I was using Microsoft Visual 2012 this never happen. I have tried to search this problem with no luck so far.

  • VS2010 on multiple monitors

    - by Carlos
I'm using VS2010, which has the cool feature of allowing you to drag panels out of the main IDE window. I like to drag some of the panels off to one of my other monitors. Unfortunately, after each run/debug session, VS2010 seems to forget where I had the panels, and dumps them right in the middle of the IDE window, and I have to move it again. Does anyone know what to do about this?

  • OS won't boot during vs2010 install on vista 64

    - by Noam
I am installing vs2010 on a vista 64bit machine. During the install it asked for a restart. Since that, vista won't load. I tried restore to previous good config - didn't help. I am only able to boot it using safe mode with networking. When I did that, it continued the vista part of the install (the screen with the 3 out of 3 updates) but after that when I restarted again - still fails. HELP!!!

  • Website project takes a long time to load in VS.NET 2008

    - by rm
After getting a new computer (a lot faster than the one I've used before) my Solutions take A LONG TIME (3-4 minutes) to load up in VS.NET 2008. I only have 2 projects in the solution: DB Project and Website Project (from IIS). If I remove the Website Project from Solution - it loads up instantly, when I add that same website project to the OPEN Solution - it loads up instantly. The only time it's slow is when I open the solution referencing my Website project. I had the exact same setup (as far as VS is concerned) on my old box, and never had this problem. Any ideas?

  • How can I make this work with deep properties

    - by Martin Robins
Given the following code... class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo foo = new Foo { Bar = new Bar { Name = "Martin" }, Name = "Martin" }; DoLambdaStuff(foo, f => f.Name); DoLambdaStuff(foo, f => f.Bar.Name); } static void DoLambdaStuff<TObject, TValue>(TObject obj, Expression<Func<TObject, TValue>> expression) { // Set up and test "getter"... Func<TObject, TValue> getValue = expression.Compile(); TValue stuff = getValue(obj); // Set up and test "setter"... ParameterExpression objectParameterExpression = Expression.Parameter(typeof(TObject)), valueParameterExpression = Expression.Parameter(typeof(TValue)); Expression<Action<TObject, TValue>> setValueExpression = Expression.Lambda<Action<TObject, TValue>>( Expression.Block( Expression.Assign(Expression.Property(objectParameterExpression, ((MemberExpression)expression.Body).Member.Name), valueParameterExpression) ), objectParameterExpression, valueParameterExpression ); Action<TObject, TValue> setValue = setValueExpression.Compile(); setValue(obj, stuff); } } class Foo { public Bar Bar { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } } class Bar { public string Name { get; set; } } The call to DoLambdaStuff(foo, f => f.Name) works ok because I am accessing a shallow property, however the call to DoLambdaStuff(foo, f => f.Bar.Name) fails - although the creation of the getValue function works fine, the creation of the setValueExpression fails because I am attempting to access a deep property of the object. Can anybody please help me to modify this so that I can create the setValueExpression for deep properties as well as shallow? Thanks.

  • How to construct LambdaExpression with conversion

    - by nerijus
I need to sort in ajax response grid by column name. Column value is number stored as a string. Let's say some trivial class (in real-life situation there is no possibility to modify this class): class TestObject { public TestObject(string v) { this.Value = v; } public string Value { get; set; } } then simple test: [Test] public void LambdaConstructionTest() { var queryable = new List<TestObject> { new TestObject("5"), new TestObject("55"), new TestObject("90"), new TestObject("9"), new TestObject("09"), new TestObject("900"), }.AsQueryable(); var sortingColumn = "Value"; ParameterExpression parameter = Expression.Parameter(queryable.ElementType); MemberExpression property = Expression.Property(parameter, sortingColumn); //// tried this one: var c = Expression.Convert(property, typeof(double)); LambdaExpression lambda = Expression.Lambda(property, parameter); //// constructs: o=>o.Value var callExpression = Expression.Call(typeof (Double), "Parse", null, property); var methodCallExpression = Expression.Call( typeof(Queryable), "OrderBy", new[] { queryable.ElementType, property.Type }, queryable.Expression, Expression.Quote(lambda)); // works, but sorts by string values. //Expression.Quote(callExpression)); // getting: System.ArgumentException {"Quoted expression must be a lambda"} var querable = queryable.Provider.CreateQuery<TestObject>(methodCallExpression); // return querable; // <- this is the return of what I need. } Sorry for not being clear in my first post as @SLaks answer was correct but I do not know how to construct correct lambda expression in this case.

  • GridView ObjectDataSource LINQ Paging and Sorting using multiple table query.

    - by user367426
I am trying to create a pageing and sorting object data source that before execution returns all results, then sorts on these results before filtering and then using the take and skip methods with the aim of retrieving just a subset of results from the database (saving on database traffic). this is based on the following article: http://www.singingeels.com/Blogs/Nullable/2008/03/26/Dynamic_LINQ_OrderBy_using_String_Names.aspx Now I have managed to get this working even creating lambda expressions to reflect the sort expression returned from the grid even finding out the data type to sort for DateTime and Decimal. public static string GetReturnType<TInput>(string value) { var param = Expression.Parameter(typeof(TInput), "o"); Expression a = Expression.Property(param, "DisplayPriceType"); Expression b = Expression.Property(a, "Name"); Expression converted = Expression.Convert(Expression.Property(param, value), typeof(object)); Expression<Func<TInput, object>> mySortExpression = Expression.Lambda<Func<TInput, object>>(converted, param); UnaryExpression member = (UnaryExpression)mySortExpression.Body; return member.Operand.Type.FullName; } Now the problem I have is that many of the Queries return joined tables and I would like to sort on fields from the other tables. So when executing a query you can create a function that will assign the properties from other tables to properties created in the partial class. public static Account InitAccount(Account account) { account.CurrencyName = account.Currency.Name; account.PriceTypeName = account.DisplayPriceType.Name; return account; } So my question is, is there a way to assign the value from the joined table to the property of the current table partial class? i have tried using. from a in dc.Accounts where a.CompanyID == companyID && a.Archived == null select new { PriceTypeName = a.DisplayPriceType.Name}) but this seems to mess up my SortExpression. Any help on this would be much appreciated, I do understand that this is complex stuff.

  • How can I edit (in MS Expression Web ) FrontPage Site Parameters (Substitutions)?

    - by Clay Nichols
Or, asked another way: Where are the values for MS Front Page Substitions (Site Parameters) stored? (so that I can edit in Web Expressions) Background I'm ashamed to admit that I've been maintaining our company's website in MS FrontPage for over 9 years. I'm moving it to Expression Web, which will display the Substitutions (stored as Site Parameters) but I can't figure out where to edit them. I tried searching the source folders for the website (on my development PC) for the name of the parameter (s-Variable=hoursOfOperation) but did not find it (other than in the files it was actually used in.

  • How can I improve the workflow between developer and designer with Expression Blend?

    - by Amenti
We use WPF and Expression Blend 4. I'm trying to improve our workflow by tutoring one of our designers to use it for styling and animation. Slowly but surely I get the impression Blend in itself is to technical for the designer in question. I myself use it only occasionally (it's great for Visual States for instance) because a lot of things are easier done in code or not possible at all in Blend alone. It seems a developer with design experience is a lot more productive with it than a sole designer. Are there any good resources or advice as to how I can improve this workflow?

  • Visual Studio C++ list iterator not decementable

    - by user69514
    I keep getting an error on visual studio that says list iterator not decrementable: line 256 My program works fine on Linux, but visual studio compiler throws this error. Anyway, do you see what my problem is? #include <iostream> #include <fstream> #include <sstream> #include <list> using namespace std; int main(){ /** create the list **/ list<int> l; /** create input stream to read file **/ ifstream inputstream("numbers.txt"); /** read the numbers and add them to list **/ if( inputstream.is_open() ){ string line; istringstream instream; while( getline(inputstream, line) ){ instream.clear(); instream.str(line); /** get he five int's **/ int one, two, three, four, five; instream >> one >> two >> three >> four >> five; /** add them to the list **/ l.push_back(one); l.push_back(two); l.push_back(three); l.push_back(four); l.push_back(five); }//end while loop }//end if /** close the stream **/ inputstream.close(); /** display the list **/ cout << "List Read:" << endl; list<int>::iterator i; for( i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl << endl; /** now sort the list **/ l.sort(); /** display the list **/ cout << "Sorted List (head to tail):" << endl; for( i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl; list<int> lReversed; for(i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); ++i){ lReversed.push_front(*i); } cout << "Sorted List (tail to head):" << endl; for(i=lReversed.begin(); i!=lReversed.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl << endl; /** remove first biggest element and display **/ l.pop_back(); cout << "List after removing first biggest element:" << endl; cout << "Sorted List (head to tail):" << endl; for( i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl; cout << "Sorted List (tail to head):" << endl; lReversed.pop_front(); for(i=lReversed.begin(); i!=lReversed.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl << endl; /** remove second biggest element and display **/ l.pop_back(); cout << "List after removing second biggest element:" << endl; cout << "Sorted List (head to tail):" << endl; for( i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl; lReversed.pop_front(); cout << "Sorted List (tail to head):" << endl; for(i=lReversed.begin(); i!=lReversed.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl << endl; /** remove third biggest element and display **/ l.pop_back(); cout << "List after removing third biggest element:" << endl; cout << "Sorted List (head to tail):" << endl; for( i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl; cout << "Sorted List (tail to head):" << endl; lReversed.pop_front(); for(i=lReversed.begin(); i!=lReversed.end(); ++i){ cout << *i << " "; } cout << endl << endl; /** create frequency table **/ const int biggest = 1000; //create array size of biggest element int arr[biggest]; //set everything to zero for(int j=0; j<biggest+1; j++){ arr[j] = 0; } //now update number of occurences for( i=l.begin(); i != l.end(); i++){ arr[*i]++; } //now print the frequency table. only print where occurences greater than zero cout << "Final list frequency table: " << endl; for(int j=0; j<biggest+1; j++){ if( arr[j] > 0 ){ cout << j << ": " << arr[j] << " occurences" << endl; } } return 0; }//end main

  • Easier debugging stl array

    - by bobobobo
In MSVC++ I have a vector. Whenever you go out of bounds of the vector (in debug mode, launched as "Start Debugging"), when you step out of bounds of the vector the program halts with a dialog box: Microsoft Visual C++ Debug Library ==== Debug Assertion Failed! Expression: Vector subscript out of range Abort | Retry | Ignore So what I want though is the MSVC++ debugger within visual studio to STOP AT THE LINE WHERE THE OUT OF BOUNDS OCCURRED, not give me this dialog box. How can I cause the program to "break" properly and be able to step through code /inspect variables when an out of bounds occurs on an STL vector?
