  • How do I make my multicast program work between computers on different networks?

    - by George
    I made a little chat applet using multicast. It works fine between computers on the same network, but fails if the computers are on different networks. Why is this? import java.io.*; import java.net.*; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import javax.swing.*; public class ClientA extends JApplet implements ActionListener, Runnable { JTextField tf; JTextArea ta; MulticastSocket socket; InetAddress group; String name=""; public void start() { try { socket = new MulticastSocket(7777); group = InetAddress.getByName("233.0.0.1"); socket.joinGroup(group); socket.setTimeToLive(255); Thread th = new Thread(this); th.start(); name =JOptionPane.showInputDialog(null,"Please enter your name.","What is your name?",JOptionPane.PLAIN_MESSAGE); tf.grabFocus(); }catch(Exception e) {e.printStackTrace();} } public void init() { JPanel p = new JPanel(new BorderLayout()); ta = new JTextArea(); ta.setEditable(false); ta.setLineWrap(true); JScrollPane sp = new JScrollPane(ta); p.add(sp,BorderLayout.CENTER); JPanel p2 = new JPanel(); tf = new JTextField(30); tf.addActionListener(this); p2.add(tf); JButton b = new JButton("Send"); b.addActionListener(this); p2.add(b); p.add(p2,BorderLayout.SOUTH); add(p); } public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent ae) { String message = name+":"+tf.getText(); tf.setText(""); tf.grabFocus(); byte[] buf = message.getBytes(); DatagramPacket packet = new DatagramPacket(buf,buf.length, group,7777); try { socket.send(packet); } catch(Exception e) {} } public void run() { while(true) { byte[] buf = new byte[256]; String received = ""; DatagramPacket packet = new DatagramPacket(buf, buf.length); try { socket.receive(packet); received = new String(packet.getData()).trim(); } catch(Exception e) {} ta.append(received +"\n"); ta.setCaretPosition(ta.getDocument().getLength()); } } }

  • Bring object to the front, in Flash AS3

    - by jimbo
    Hi All, i have the below code, which is basically animating object across the screen, when roll-over happens it pauses the anim, and displays some information. Everything works fine, but when its paused, i wold like that current object to be 'on top' so other items run behind. I have looked at setChildIndex, but didn't have much luck. package { import flash.display.MovieClip; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.events.MouseEvent; import flash.geom.Point; import flash.events.KeyboardEvent; import flash.events.*; import caurina.transitions.Tweener; import fl.motion.Color; public class carpurchase extends Sprite { public function carpurchase() { var carX = 570; //Set cars var car1:fullCar = new fullCar(); car1.info.alpha = 0; //var c:Color = new Color(); //c.setTint(0xff0000, 0.8); //car2.car.transform.colorTransform=c; car1.x = carX; car1.y = 280; car1.info.title.text = "test"; car1.info.desc.text = "test"; addChild(car1); car1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, carPause); car1.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, carContinue); function car1Reset():void { Tweener.addTween(car1, {x:carX, time:0, onComplete:car1Tween}); } function car1Tween():void { Tweener.addTween(car1, {x:-120, time:2, delay:3, transition:"linear", onComplete:car1Reset}); } car1Tween(); var car2:fullCar = new fullCar(); car2.info.alpha = 0; var c:Color = new Color(); c.setTint(0xff0000, 0.8); car2.car.transform.colorTransform=c; car1.x = carX; car2.y = 175; car2.info.title.text = "test"; car2.info.desc.text = "test"; addChild(car2); car2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OVER, carPause); car2.addEventListener(MouseEvent.ROLL_OUT, carContinue); function car2Reset():void { Tweener.addTween(car2, {x:carX, time:0, onComplete:car2Tween}); } function car2Tween():void { Tweener.addTween(car2, {x:-120, time:3, delay:0, transition:"linear", onComplete:car2Reset}); } car2Tween(); function carPause(e:MouseEvent):void { Tweener.pauseTweens(e.target); Tweener.addTween(e.target.info, {y:-150, alpha:1, time:.5, transition:"easeout"}); } function carContinue(e:MouseEvent):void { Tweener.addTween(e.target.info, {y:10, alpha:0, time:.5, transition:"easeout"}); Tweener.resumeTweens(e.target); } } } Any help welcome

  • "is not abstact and does not override abstract method."

    So I'm pretty new to android development and have been trying to piece together some code bits. Here's what I have so far: package com.teslaprime.prirt; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.view.View; import android.widget.ArrayAdapter; import android.widget.Button; import android.widget.EditText; import android.widget.ListView; import android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.util.List; public class TaskList extends Activity { List<Task> model = new ArrayList<Task>(); ArrayAdapter<Task> adapter = null; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); Button add = (Button) findViewById(R.id.add); add.setOnClickListener(onAdd); ListView list = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.tasks); adapter = new ArrayAdapter<Task>(this,android.R.layout.simple_list_item_1,model); list.setAdapter(adapter); list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { public void onItemClick(View v, int position, long id) { adapter.remove(position); } });} private View.OnClickListener onAdd = new View.OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { Task task = new Task(); EditText name = (EditText) findViewById(R.id.taskEntry); task.name = name.getText().toString(); adapter.add(task); } }; } and here are the errors I'm getting: compile: [javac] /opt/android-sdk/tools/ant/main_rules.xml:384: warning: 'includeantruntime' was not set, defaulting to build.sysclasspath=last; set to false for repeatable builds [javac] Compiling 2 source files to /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/bin/classes [javac] /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/src/com/teslaprime/prirt/TaskList.java:30: <anonymous com.teslaprime.prirt.TaskList$1> is not abstract and does not override abstract method onItemClick(android.widget.AdapterView<?>,android.view.View,int,long) in android.widget.AdapterView.OnItemClickListener [javac] list.setOnItemClickListener(new OnItemClickListener() { [javac] ^ [javac] /home/chris-kun/code/priRT/src/com/teslaprime/prirt/TaskList.java:32: remove(com.teslaprime.prirt.Task) in android.widget.ArrayAdapter<com.teslaprime.prirt.Task> cannot be applied to (int) [javac] adapter.remove(position); [javac] ^ [javac] 2 errors BUILD FAILED /opt/android-sdk/tools/ant/main_rules.xml:384: Compile failed; see the compiler error output for details. • Java unchecked method invocation

    - by Sam
    I'm trying to setup a multithreaded application using SQLite4java, and everything is working fine. However, according to the getting started tutorial I am meant to create an object of type "object" and in order to return a value of null (due to use of generic types). Here is the suggested code: queue.execute(new SQLiteJob<Object>() { protected Object job(SQLiteConnection connection) throws SQLiteException { // this method is called from database thread and passed the connection connection.exec(...); return null; } }); Source The following example code I created produces the same error: error: test.java:9: warning: [unchecked] unchecked method invocation: <T,J>execute(J) in com.almworks.sqlite4java.SQLiteQueue is applied to (query<java.lang.Integer>) queue.execute(new query<Integer>()); test.java: import com.almworks.sqlite4java.*; import java.util.ArrayList; import java.io.File; class test{ public static void main(String[] args){ File f = new File("file.db"); SQLiteQueue queue = new SQLiteQueue(f); queue.execute(new query<Integer>()); } } query.java: import com.almworks.sqlite4java.SQLiteException; import com.almworks.sqlite4java.SQLiteJob; import com.almworks.sqlite4java.SQLiteConnection; import com.almworks.sqlite4java.SQLiteStatement; import java.util.ArrayList; class query<T> extends SQLiteJob{ protected ArrayList<Integer> job(SQLiteConnection connection) throws SQLiteException{ ArrayList<Integer> ints = new ArrayList<Integer>(); //DB Stuff return ints; } } I have read a lot about how this particular message appears when people fail to specify a type for an ArrayList. However, I am not attempting to cast the object or do anything with it. It is merely a mechanism implemented by the library developers in order to return a null. I do not believe this to be an issue relating directly to the library, which is why I'm asking this on StackOverflow. I believe it all comes down to my lack of experience with generic types. I've already spent a few hours on this and don't feel like I am getting anywhere. How do I stop the warning?

  • ProgressDialog does not display until after AsyncTask completes

    - by tedwards
    I am trying to display an indefinite ProgressDialog, while an AsyncTask binds to a RemoteService. The RemoteService builds a list of the users contacts when the service is first created. For a long list of contacts this may take 5~10 seconds. The problem I am having, is that the ProgressDialog does not display until after the RemoteService has built it's list of contacts. I even tried putting a Thread.sleep in to give the ProgressDialog time to show up. With the sleep statement the ProgressDialog loads and starts spinning, but then locks up as soon as the RemoteService starts doing it's work. If I just turn the AsyncTask into dummy code, and just let it sleep for a while, everything works fine. But when the task has to do actual work, it is like the UI just sits and waits. Any ideas on what Im doing wrong ? @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); Log.d(IM,"Start Me UP!!"); setContentView(R.layout.main); Log.d(IM, "Building List View for Contacts"); restoreMe(); if (myContacts==null){ myContacts = new ArrayList<Contact>(); this.contactAdapter = new ContactAdapter(this, R.layout.contactlist, myContacts); setListAdapter(this.contactAdapter); new BindAsync().execute(); } else{ this.contactAdapter = new ContactAdapter(this, R.layout.contactlist, myContacts); setListAdapter(this.contactAdapter); } } private class BindAsync extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, RemoteServiceConnection>{ @Override protected void onPreExecute(){ super.onPreExecute(); Log.d(IM,"Showing Dialog"); showDialog(DIALOG_CONTACTS); } @Override protected RemoteServiceConnection doInBackground(Void... v) { Log.d(IM,"Binding to service in BindAsync"); try{ Thread.sleep(2000); } catch (InterruptedException e){ } RemoteServiceConnection myCon; myCon = new RemoteServiceConnection(); Intent i = new Intent(imandroid.this,MyRemoteService.class); bindService(i, myCon, Context.BIND_AUTO_CREATE); startService(i); Log.d(IM,"Bound to remote service"); return myCon; } @Override protected void onPostExecute(RemoteServiceConnection newConn){ super.onPostExecute(newConn); Log.d(IM,"Storing remote connection"); conn=newConn; } };

  • Design pattern question: encapsulation or inheritance

    - by Matt
    Hey all, I have a question I have been toiling over for quite a while. I am building a templating engine with two main classes Template.php and Tag.php, with a bunch of extension classes like Img.php and String.php. The program works like this: A Template object creates a Tag objects. Each tag object determines which extension class (img, string, etc.) to implement. The point of the Tag class is to provide helper functions for each extension class such as wrap('div'), addClass('slideshow'), etc. Each Img or String class is used to render code specific to what is required, so $Img->render() would give something like <img src='blah.jpg' /> My Question is: Should I encapsulate all extension functionality within the Tag object like so: Tag.php function __construct($namespace, $args) { // Sort out namespace to determine which extension to call $this->extension = new $namespace($this); // Pass in Tag object so it can be used within extension return $this; // Tag object } function render() { return $this->extension->render(); } Img.php function __construct(Tag $T) { $args = $T->getArgs(); $T->addClass('img'); } function render() { return '<img src="blah.jpg" />'; } Usage: $T = new Tag("img", array(...); $T->render(); .... or should I create more of an inheritance structure because "Img is a Tag" Tag.php public static create($namespace, $args) { // Sort out namespace to determine which extension to call return new $namespace($args); } Img.php class Img extends Tag { function __construct($args) { // Determine namespace then call create tag $T = parent::__construct($namespace, $args); } function render() { return '<img src="blah.jpg" />'; } } Usage: $Img = Tag::create('img', array(...)); $Img->render(); One thing I do need is a common interface for creating custom tags, ie I can instantiate Img(...) then instantiate String(...), I do need to instantiate each extension using Tag. I know this is somewhat vague of a question, I'm hoping some of you have dealt with this in the past and can foresee certain issues with choosing each design pattern. If you have any other suggestions I would love to hear them. Thanks! Matt Mueller

  • Fluent NHibernate Many to one mapping

    - by Jit
    I am creating a NHibenate application with one to many relationship. Like City and State data. City table CREATE TABLE [dbo].[State]( [StateId] [varchar](2) NOT NULL primary key, [StateName] [varchar](20) NULL) CREATE TABLE [dbo].[City]( [Id] [int] primary key IDENTITY(1,1) NOT NULL , [State_id] [varchar](2) NULL refrences State(StateId), [CityName] [varchar](50) NULL) My mapping is follows public CityMapping() { Id(x = x.Id); Map(x = x.State_id); Map(x = x.CityName); HasMany(x = x.EmployeePreferedLocations) .Inverse() .Cascade.SaveUpdate() ; References(x = x.State) //.Cascade.All(); //.Class(typeof(State)) //.Not.Nullable() .Cascade.None() .Column("State_id") ; } public StateMapping() { Id(x => x.StateId) .GeneratedBy.Assigned(); Map(x => x.StateName); HasMany(x => x.Jobs) .Inverse(); //.Cascade.SaveUpdate(); HasMany(x => x.EmployeePreferedLocations) .Inverse(); HasMany(x => x.Cities) // .Inverse() .Cascade.SaveUpdate() //.Not.LazyLoad() ; } Models are as follows: [Serializable] public partial class City { public virtual System.String CityName { get; set; } public virtual System.Int32 Id { get; set; } public virtual System.String State_id { get; set; } public virtual IList<EmployeePreferedLocation> EmployeePreferedLocations { get; set; } public virtual JobPortal.Data.Domain.Model.State State { get; set; } public City(){} } public partial class State { public virtual System.String StateId { get; set; } public virtual System.String StateName { get; set; } public virtual IList<City> Cities { get; set; } public virtual IList<EmployeePreferedLocation> EmployeePreferedLocations { get; set; } public virtual IList<Job> Jobs { get; set; } public State() { Cities = new List<City>(); EmployeePreferedLocations = new List<EmployeePreferedLocation>(); Jobs = new List<Job>(); } //public virtual void AddCity(City city) //{ // city.State = this; // Cities.Add(city); //} } My Unit Testing code is below. City city = new City(); IRepository<State> rState = new Repository<State>(); Dictionary<string, string> critetia = new Dictionary<string, string>(); critetia.Add("StateId", "TX"); State frState = rState.GetByCriteria(critetia); city.CityName = "Waco"; city.State = frState; IRepository<City> rCity = new Repository<City>(); rCity.SaveOrUpdate(city); City frCity = rCity.GetById(city.Id); The problem is , I am not able to insert record. The error is below. "Invalid index 2 for this SqlParameterCollection with Count=2." But the error will not come if I comment State_id mapping field in the CityMapping file. I donot know what mistake is I did. If do not give the mapping Map(x = x.State_id); the value of this field is null, which is desired. Please help me how to solve this issue.

  • Hibernate N+1 from select across multiple tables

    - by Marty Pitt
    Given the following hibernate query: String sql = "select distinct changeset " + "from Changeset changeset " + "join fetch changeset.changeEntries as changeEntry " + "join fetch changeEntry.repositoryEntity as repositoryEntity " + "join fetch repositoryEntity.project as project " + "join fetch changeset.author as changesetAuthor " + "where project.id = :projectID "; Why is this resulting in an N+1 problem? I expect this to generate the following single SQL statement (or something similar) select * from Changeset inner join changeEntry on changeset.id = changeEntry.changeset_id inner join repositoryEntity on changeEntry.repositoryentity_id = repositoryentity.id inner join project on repositoryentity.project_id = project.id where project.id = ? Instead, I see many many select statements firing. The data model here looks like this: I would like the full object graph returned from the Select statement in a single trip to the database, which is why I'm explicitly using "fetch" in the hibernate query. The Hibernate log statements are as follows: Hibernate: select distinct changeset0_.id as id2_0_, changeentr1_.id as id1_1_, repository2_.id as id9_2_, project3_.id as id6_3_, user4_.id as id7_4_, changeset0_.author_id as author5_2_0_, changeset0_.createDate as createDate2_0_, changeset0_.message as message2_0_, changeset0_.revision as revision2_0_, changeentr1_.changeType as changeType1_1_, changeentr1_.changeset_id as changeset4_1_1_, changeentr1_.diff as diff1_1_, changeentr1_.repositoryEntity_id as reposito5_1_1_, changeentr1_.repositoryEntityVersion_id as reposito6_1_1_, changeentr1_.sourceChangeEntry_id as sourceCh7_1_1_, changeentr1_.changeset_id as changeset4_0__, changeentr1_.id as id0__, repository2_.project_id as connecti6_9_2_, repository2_.name as name9_2_, repository2_.parent_id as parent7_9_2_, repository2_.path as path9_2_, repository2_.state as state9_2_, repository2_.type as type9_2_, project3_.projectName as connecti2_6_3_, project3_.driverName as driverName6_3_, project3_.isAnonymous as isAnonym4_6_3_, project3_.lastUpdatedRevision as lastUpda5_6_3_, project3_.password as password6_3_, project3_.url as url6_3_, project3_.username as username6_3_, user4_.username as username7_4_, user4_.email as email7_4_, user4_.name as name7_4_, user4_.password as password7_4_, user4_.principles as principles7_4_, user4_.userType as userType7_4_ from Changeset changeset0_ inner join ChangeEntry changeentr1_ on changeset0_.id=changeentr1_.changeset_id inner join RepositoryEntity repository2_ on changeentr1_.repositoryEntity_id=repository2_.id inner join project project3_ on repository2_.project_id=project3_.id inner join users user4_ on changeset0_.author_id=user4_.id where project3_.id=? order by changeset0_.revision desc Hibernate: select repository0_.id as id10_9_, repository0_.changeEntry_id as changeEn2_10_9_, repository0_.repositoryEntity_id as reposito3_10_9_, changeentr1_.id as id1_0_, changeentr1_.changeType as changeType1_0_, changeentr1_.changeset_id as changeset4_1_0_, changeentr1_.diff as diff1_0_, changeentr1_.repositoryEntity_id as reposito5_1_0_, changeentr1_.repositoryEntityVersion_id as reposito6_1_0_, changeentr1_.sourceChangeEntry_id as sourceCh7_1_0_, changeset2_.id as id2_1_, changeset2_.author_id as author5_2_1_, changeset2_.createDate as createDate2_1_, changeset2_.message as message2_1_, changeset2_.revision as revision2_1_, user3_.id as id7_2_, user3_.username as username7_2_, user3_.email as email7_2_, user3_.name as name7_2_, user3_.password as password7_2_, user3_.principles as principles7_2_, user3_.userType as userType7_2_, repository4_.id as id9_3_, repository4_.project_id as connecti6_9_3_, repository4_.name as name9_3_, repository4_.parent_id as parent7_9_3_, repository4_.path as path9_3_, repository4_.state as state9_3_, repository4_.type as type9_3_, project5_.id as id6_4_, project5_.projectName as connecti2_6_4_, project5_.driverName as driverName6_4_, project5_.isAnonymous as isAnonym4_6_4_, project5_.lastUpdatedRevision as lastUpda5_6_4_, project5_.password as password6_4_, project5_.url as url6_4_, project5_.username as username6_4_, repository6_.id as id9_5_, repository6_.project_id as connecti6_9_5_, repository6_.name as name9_5_, repository6_.parent_id as parent7_9_5_, repository6_.path as path9_5_, repository6_.state as state9_5_, repository6_.type as type9_5_, repository7_.id as id10_6_, repository7_.changeEntry_id as changeEn2_10_6_, repository7_.repositoryEntity_id as reposito3_10_6_, repository8_.id as id9_7_, repository8_.project_id as connecti6_9_7_, repository8_.name as name9_7_, repository8_.parent_id as parent7_9_7_, repository8_.path as path9_7_, repository8_.state as state9_7_, repository8_.type as type9_7_, changeentr9_.id as id1_8_, changeentr9_.changeType as changeType1_8_, changeentr9_.changeset_id as changeset4_1_8_, changeentr9_.diff as diff1_8_, changeentr9_.repositoryEntity_id as reposito5_1_8_, changeentr9_.repositoryEntityVersion_id as reposito6_1_8_, changeentr9_.sourceChangeEntry_id as sourceCh7_1_8_ from RepositoryEntityVersion repository0_ left outer join ChangeEntry changeentr1_ on repository0_.changeEntry_id=changeentr1_.id left outer join Changeset changeset2_ on changeentr1_.changeset_id=changeset2_.id left outer join users user3_ on changeset2_.author_id=user3_.id left outer join RepositoryEntity repository4_ on changeentr1_.repositoryEntity_id=repository4_.id left outer join project project5_ on repository4_.project_id=project5_.id left outer join RepositoryEntity repository6_ on repository4_.parent_id=repository6_.id left outer join RepositoryEntityVersion repository7_ on changeentr1_.repositoryEntityVersion_id=repository7_.id left outer join RepositoryEntity repository8_ on repository7_.repositoryEntity_id=repository8_.id left outer join ChangeEntry changeentr9_ on changeentr1_.sourceChangeEntry_id=changeentr9_.id where repository0_.id=? The 2nd one is repeated many times - for a result set of 17 objects, the 2nd statement executed 521 times. I suspect this is as a result of the parent/child relationship in the RepositoryEntity object. For the purposes of this select, I actually only require the parent object fetched. Any suggestions?

    i've programatically created a simple gradient (blue to red) sprite rect using my own basic class called GradientRect, but moving or animation the sprite exhibits line artifacts. when the sprite is rotating, it kind of resembles bad reception of an old television set. i'm almost certain the cause is because each line slice of the gradient is vector so there are gaps between the lines - this is visible when the sprite is zoomed in. var colorPickerRect:GradientRect = new GradientRect(200, 200, 0x0000FF, 0xFF0000); addChild(colorPickerRect); colorPickerRect.cacheAsBitmap = true; colorPickerRect.x = colorPickerRect.y = 100; colorPickerRect.addEventListener(Event.ENTER_FRAME, rotate); function rotate(evt:Event):void { evt.target.rotation += 1; } ________________________ //CLASS PACKAGE package { import flash.display.CapsStyle; import flash.display.GradientType; import flash.display.LineScaleMode; import flash.display.Sprite; import flash.geom.Matrix; public class GradientRect extends Sprite { public function GradientRect(gradientRectWidth:Number, gradientRectHeight:Number, ...leftToRightColors) { init(gradientRectWidth, gradientRectHeight, leftToRightColors); } private function init(gradientRectWidth:Number, gradientRectHeight:Number, leftToRightColors:Array):void { var leftToRightAlphas:Array = new Array(); var leftToRightRatios:Array = new Array(); var leftToRightPartition:Number = 255 / (leftToRightColors.length - 1); var pixelColor:Number; var i:int; //Push arrays for (i = 0; i < leftToRightColors.length; i++) { leftToRightAlphas.push(1); leftToRightRatios.push(i * leftToRightPartition); } //Graphics matrix and lineStyle var leftToRightColorsMatrix:Matrix = new Matrix(); leftToRightColorsMatrix.createGradientBox(gradientRectWidth, 1); graphics.lineStyle(1, 0, 1, false, LineScaleMode.NONE, CapsStyle.NONE); for (i = 0; i < gradientRectWidth; i++) { graphics.lineGradientStyle(GradientType.LINEAR, leftToRightColors, leftToRightAlphas, leftToRightRatios, leftToRightColorsMatrix); graphics.moveTo(i, 0); graphics.lineTo(i, gradientRectHeight); } } } } how can i solve this problem?

  • How do you implement position-sensitive zooming inside a JScrollPane?

    - by tucuxi
    I am trying to implement position-sensitive zooming inside a JScrollPane. The JScrollPane contains a component with a customized 'paint' that will draw itself inside whatever space it is allocated - so zooming is as easy as using a MouseWheelListener that resizes the inner component as required. But I also want zooming into (or out of) a point to keep that point as central as possible within the resulting zoomed-in (or -out) view (this is what I refer to as 'position-sensitive' zooming), similar to how zooming works in google maps. I am sure this has been done many times before - does anybody know the "right" way to do it under Java Swing?. Would it be better to play with Graphic2D's transformations instead of using JScrollPanes? Sample code follows: package test; import java.awt.*; import java.awt.event.*; import java.awt.geom.*; import javax.swing.*; public class FPanel extends javax.swing.JPanel { private Dimension preferredSize = new Dimension(400, 400); private Rectangle2D[] rects = new Rectangle2D[50]; public static void main(String[] args) { JFrame jf = new JFrame("test"); jf.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); jf.setSize(400, 400); jf.add(new JScrollPane(new FPanel())); jf.setVisible(true); } public FPanel() { // generate rectangles with pseudo-random coords for (int i=0; i<rects.length; i++) { rects[i] = new Rectangle2D.Double( Math.random()*.8, Math.random()*.8, Math.random()*.2, Math.random()*.2); } // mouse listener to detect scrollwheel events addMouseWheelListener(new MouseWheelListener() { public void mouseWheelMoved(MouseWheelEvent e) { updatePreferredSize(e.getWheelRotation(), e.getPoint()); } }); } private void updatePreferredSize(int n, Point p) { double d = (double) n * 1.08; d = (n > 0) ? 1 / d : -d; int w = (int) (getWidth() * d); int h = (int) (getHeight() * d); preferredSize.setSize(w, h); getParent().doLayout(); // Question: how do I keep 'p' centered in the resulting view? } public Dimension getPreferredSize() { return preferredSize; } private Rectangle2D r = new Rectangle2D.Float(); public void paint(Graphics g) { super.paint(g); g.setColor(Color.red); int w = getWidth(); int h = getHeight(); for (Rectangle2D rect : rects) { r.setRect(rect.getX() * w, rect.getY() * h, rect.getWidth() * w, rect.getHeight() * h); ((Graphics2D)g).draw(r); } } }

  • Giving event control back to xaml/callee to access check/uncheck

    - by dovholuk
    Hi All, I've scoured the Internet but my search-foo must not work if it's out there cause I just can't find the proper search terms to get me the answer I am looking for. So I turn to the experts here as a last resort to point me in the right direction. What I'm trying to do is create a composite control of a text box and a list box but I want to allow the control consumer to decide what to do when say the checkbox is checked/unchecked and I just can't figure it out... Maybe i'm going about it all wrong. What I've done thus far is to: create a custom control that extends ListBox expose a custom DP named "Text" (for the Text box but it's not the important part) craft the generic.xaml so that the list items have a default ItemTemplate/DataTemplate inside the DataTemplate I'm trying to set the "Checked" or "Unchecked" events expose 'wrapper' events as DPs in the custom control that would get 'set' via the template when instatiated As soon as I try something like the following (inside generic.xaml): <DataTemplate> <...> <CheckBox Checked="{TemplateBinding MyCheckedDP}"/> <...> </DataTemplate> I get runtime exceptions, the designer - vs2010 - pukes out a LONG list of errors that are all very similar and nothing I do can make it work. I went so far as to try using the VisualTreeHelper but no magic combination I could find would work nor would it allow me to traverse the tree because when the OnApplyTemplate method fires the listbox items don't exist yet and aren't in the tree. So hopefully this all makes sense but if not please let me know and I'll edit the post for clarifications. Thanks to all for any pointers or thoughts... Like I said maybe I'm heading about it in the wrong way from the start... EDIT (Request for xaml) generic.xaml datatemplate: <DataTemplate > <StackPanel Orientation="Horizontal" > <local:FilterCheckbox x:Name="chk"> <TextBlock Text="{Binding Path=Display}" /> </local:FilterCheckbox> </StackPanel> </DataTemplate> usercontrol.xaml (invocation of custom control) <local:MyControl FancyName="This is the fancy name" ItemChecked="DoThisWhenACheckboxIsChecked" <-- this is where the consumer "ties" to the checkbox events ItemsSource="{Binding Source={StaticResource someDataSource}}" />

  • Grails validateable not work for non-persistent domain class

    - by Hoàng Long
    I followed the instruction here: http://www.grails.org/doc/latest/guide/7.%20Validation.html and added into config.groovy: grails.validateable.classes = [liningtest.Warm'] Then added in src/groovy/Warm.groovy (it's a non-persistent domain class): package liningtest import org.codehaus.groovy.grails.validation.Validateable class Warm { String name; int happyCite; Warm(String n, int h) { this.name = n; this.happyCite = h; } static constraints = { name(size: 1..50) happyCite(min: 100) } } But it just doesn't work (both "blank false" & "size: 0..25") for the "hasErrors" function. It always returns false, even when the name is 25. Is this a Grails bug, if yes, is there any work-around? I'm using Grails 1.3.3 UPDATE: I have updated the simplified code. And now I know that constraint "size" can't be used with "blank", but still does not work. My test class in test/unit/liningtest/WarmTests.groovy package liningtest import grails.test.* class WarmTests extends GrailsUnitTestCase { protected void setUp() { super.setUp() } protected void tearDown() { super.tearDown() } void testSomething() { def w = new Warm('Hihi', 3) assert (w.happyCite == 3) assert (w.hasErrors() == true) } } And the error I got: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8" ?> <testsuite errors="1" failures="0" hostname="evolus-50b0002c" name="liningtest.WarmTests" tests="1" time="0.062" timestamp="2010-12-16T04:07:47"> <properties /> <testcase classname="liningtest.WarmTests" name="testSomething" time="0.062"> <error message="No signature of method: liningtest.Warm.hasErrors() is applicable for argument types: () values: [] Possible solutions: hashCode()" type="groovy.lang.MissingMethodException">groovy.lang.MissingMethodException: No signature of method: liningtest.Warm.hasErrors() is applicable for argument types: () values: [] Possible solutions: hashCode() at liningtest.WarmTests.testSomething(WarmTests.groovy:18) </error> </testcase> <system-out><![CDATA[--Output from testSomething-- ]]></system-out> <system-err><![CDATA[--Output from testSomething-- ]]></system-err> </testsuite> UPDATE 2: When I don't use Unit test, but try to call hasErrors in the controller, it runs but return false value. (hasErrors return false with Warm('Hihi', 3) ). Does anyone has a clue?

  • AccessControlException: access denied - caller function failed to load properties file

    - by Michael Mao
    Hi all: I am having a jar archive environment which is gonna call my class in a folder like this: java -jar "emarket.jar" ../tournament 100 My compiled class is deployed into the ../tournament folder, this command runs well. After I changed my code to load a properties file, it gets the following exception message: Exception in thread "main" java.security.AccessControlException: access denied (java.io.FilePermission agent.properties read) at java.security.AccessControlContext.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.security.AccessController.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkPermission(Unknown Source) at java.lang.SecurityManager.checkRead(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at java.io.FileInputStream.<init>(Unknown Source) at Agent10479475.getPropertiesFromConfigFile(Agent10479475.java:110) at Agent10479475.<init>(Agent10479475.java:100) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance0(Native Method) at sun.reflect.NativeConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at sun.reflect.DelegatingConstructorAccessorImpl.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.reflect.Constructor.newInstance(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance0(Unknown Source) at java.lang.Class.newInstance(Unknown Source) at emarket.client.EmarketSandbox.instantiateClientObjects(EmarketSandbox.java:92) at emarket.client.EmarketSandbox.<init>(EmarketSandbox.java:27) at emarket.client.EmarketSandbox.main(EmarketSandbox.java:166) I am wondering why this security checking will fail. I issue the getPropertitiesFromConfigFile() function inside my class's default constructor, like this: public class Agent10479475 extends AbstractClientAgent { //default constructor public Agent10479475() { //set all properties to their default values in constructor FT_THRESHOLD = 400; FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN = 50; printOut("Now loading properties from a config file...", ""); getPropertiesFromConfigFile(); printOut("Finished loading",""); } private void getPropertiesFromConfigFile() { Properties props = new Properties(); try { props.load(new FileInputStream("agent.properties")); FT_THRESHOLD = Long.parseLong(props.getProperty("FT_THRESHOLD")); FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN = Long.parseLong(props.getProperty("FT_THRESHOLD_MARGIN ")); } catch(java.io.FileNotFoundException fnfex) { printOut("CANNOT FIND PROPERTIES FILE :", fnfex); } catch(java.io.IOException ioex) { printOut("IOEXCEPTION OCCURED :", ioex); } } } My class is loading its own .properties file under the same folder. why would the Java environment complains about such a denial of access? Must I config the emarket.client.EmarketSandbox class, which is not written by me and stored inside the emarket.jar, to access my agent.properties file? Any hints or suggestions is much appreciated. Many thanks in advance.

  • PHP sessions and class members.

    - by JDW
    Ok, messing about with classes in PHP and can't get it to work the way I'm used to as a C++/Java-guy. In the "_init" funtion, if I run a query at the "// query works here" line", everythong works, but in the "getUserID" function, all that happens is said warning... "getUserID" gets called from login.php (they are in the same dir): login.php <?php include_once 'sitehandler.php'; include_once 'dbhandler.php'; session_start(); #TODO: Safer input handling $t_userName = $_POST["name"]; $t_userId = $_SESSION['handler']['db']->getUserID($t_userName); if ($t_userId != -1) { $_SESSION['user']['name'] = $t_userName; $_SESSION['user']['id'] = $t_userId; } //error_log("user: " . $_SESSION['user']['name'] . • Can't find method in the activity

    - by Synesso
    I'm starting with Scala + Android. I'm trying to wire a button action to a button without the activity implementing View.OnClickListener. The button click fails at runtime because the method cannot be found. The document I'm working through says that I need only declare a public void method taking a View on the action, and use that method name in the layout. What have I done wrong? MainActivity.scala package net.badgerhunt.hwa import android.app.Activity import android.os.Bundle import android.widget.Button import android.view.View import java.util.Date class MainActivity extends Activity { override def onCreate(savedInstanceState: Bundle) = { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState) setContentView(R.layout.main) } def calculate(button: View): Unit = println("calculating with %s ...".format(button)) } res/layout/main.xml <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <Button xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" android:id="@+id/button" android:text="" android:onClick="calculate" android:layout_width="fill_parent" android:layout_height="fill_parent"/> the failure onclick D/AndroidRuntime( 362): Shutting down VM W/dalvikvm( 362): threadid=3: thread exiting with uncaught exception (group=0x4001b188) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): Uncaught handler: thread main exiting due to uncaught exception E/AndroidRuntime( 362): java.lang.IllegalStateException: Could not find a method calculate(View) in the activity E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.View$1.onClick(View.java:2020) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.View.performClick(View.java:2364) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.View.onTouchEvent(View.java:4179) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.widget.TextView.onTouchEvent(TextView.java:6540) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.View.dispatchTouchEvent(View.java:3709) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:884) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:884) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.ViewGroup.dispatchTouchEvent(ViewGroup.java:884) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.superDispatchTouchEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1659) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow.superDispatchTouchEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1107) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.app.Activity.dispatchTouchEvent(Activity.java:2061) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at com.android.internal.policy.impl.PhoneWindow$DecorView.dispatchTouchEvent(PhoneWindow.java:1643) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.ViewRoot.handleMessage(ViewRoot.java:1691) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.os.Handler.dispatchMessage(Handler.java:99) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.os.Looper.loop(Looper.java:123) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.app.ActivityThread.main(ActivityThread.java:4363) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invokeNative(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at java.lang.reflect.Method.invoke(Method.java:521) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit$MethodAndArgsCaller.run(ZygoteInit.java:860) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at com.android.internal.os.ZygoteInit.main(ZygoteInit.java:618) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at dalvik.system.NativeStart.main(Native Method) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): Caused by: java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: calculate E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at java.lang.ClassCache.findMethodByName(ClassCache.java:308) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at java.lang.Class.getMethod(Class.java:1014) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): at android.view.View$1.onClick(View.java:2017) E/AndroidRuntime( 362): ... 20 more

  • Android - Start service on boot

    - by Gady
    From everything I've seen on Stack Exchange and elsewhere, I have everything set up correctly to start an IntentService when Android OS boots. Unfortunately it is not starting on boot, and I'm not getting any errors. Maybe the experts can help... Manifest: <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?> <manifest xmlns:android="http://schemas.android.com/apk/res/android" package="com.phx.batterylogger" android:versionCode="1" android:versionName="1.0" android:installLocation="internalOnly"> <uses-sdk android:minSdkVersion="8" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.WRITE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE" /> <uses-permission android:name="android.permission.BATTERY_STATS" /> <application android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:label="@string/app_name"> <service android:name=".BatteryLogger"/> <receiver android:name=".StartupIntentReceiver"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.BOOT_COMPLETED" /> </intent-filter> </receiver> </application> </manifest> BroadcastReceiver for Startup: package com.phx.batterylogger; import android.content.BroadcastReceiver; import android.content.Context; import android.content.Intent; public class StartupIntentReceiver extends BroadcastReceiver { @Override public void onReceive(Context context, Intent intent) { Intent serviceIntent = new Intent(context, BatteryLogger.class); context.startService(serviceIntent); } } UPDATE: I tried just about all of the suggestions below, and I added logging such as Log.v("BatteryLogger", "Got to onReceive, about to start service"); to the onReceive handler of the StartupIntentReceiver, and nothing is ever logged. So it isn't even making it to the BroadcastReceiver. I think I'm deploying the APK and testing correctly, just running Debug in Eclipse and the console says it successfully installs it to my Xoom tablet at \BatteryLogger\bin\BatteryLogger.apk. Then to test, I reboot the tablet and then look at the logs in DDMS and check the Running Services in the OS settings. Does this all sound correct, or am I missing something? Again, any help is much appreciated.

  • How to call Ajax to run a PHP file while maintaining PHP & Javascript variables.

    - by Umar
    Hi Stackoverflowers. I'm using the Facebook php-sdk to get the users name and friends, right now the loading friends part takes about +3 seconds so I wanted to do it via Ajax, e.g. so the document can load and jQuery then calls an external PHP script which loads the friends (their names and their profile pictures). So to do this I did: $(document).ready(function() { var loadUrl = "http://localhost/fb/getFriends.php" ; $("#friends") .html("Hold on, your friends are loading!") .load(loadUrl); }); But I get a PHP error: Fatal error: Call to a member function api() on a non-object If I do this in the same PHP file (so I don't use Ajax at all to call it) it works fine. Now I think I understand the reason this is happening, but I don't know how to fix it. In my main index.php file I have a bunch of init and session code e.g. FB.init({ appId : '<?php echo $facebook->getAppId(); ?>', session : <?php echo json_encode($session); ?>, // don't refetch the session when PHP already has it status : true, // check login status cookie : true, // enable cookies to allow the server to access the session xfbml : true // parse XFBML }); So I'm just wondering what is the best way to treat my new separate PHP file getFriends.php in a way where it has access to all PHP/JavaScript session data/variables? If you haven't used the Facebook php-sdk I'll quickly explain what I mean: Lets say I have index.php and getUsername.php, from index.php I want to retrieve the getUsername.php file via Ajax using .load. Now the problem is getUsername.php needs to access PHP session data/Javascript Init functions which were created in index.php, so I'm thinking of ways to solve this (I'm new to PHP so sorry if this sounds silly) but I'm thinking maybe I could do a POST in jQuery Ajax and post the session data? Or maybe I could create a PHP class, so something like: class getUsername extends index{} /*Yes I'm a newbie*/ If you have a look at the php-sdk example.php link posted at the top maybe you'd better understand what variables exactly need to be accessed from a new file. Also on a different note, I'm using PHP to work out page rendering times and it seems that fetching the users name alone : // Session based API call. if ($session) { try { $uid = $facebook->getUser(); $me = $facebook->api('/me'); } catch (FacebookApiException $e) { error_log($e); } } Can take a good 4 seconds, is this normal? Once I get the users details is it good to cache it or something? -Speed isn't as important right now, for now I'm just trying to figure out this Ajax-separating php files thing. Woah this is a long post. Thanks very much for your time.

  • Problem accessing updated variables within OnTouch

    - by Jay Smith
    I have an OnTouch and a setOnTouchListener that updates varibles which contain screen coord info. The problem is it doesnt seem to ever update them. On line 78, RGB.setText(test); it never changes from 0.0. If i were to move that line and the line above it into the onTouch it updates. any idea what is wrong? • How to retain the state of a activity that has a GLSurfaceView

    - by user348639
    My problem is our game can switch into menu and setting mode instantly but it will need 4-6 seconds to load texture, init GL render mode eventually I just used 6 simple textures to create 6 sprites in game. Please help me answer two questions: 1. How can I preload our assets in android os to start our game quicker? 2. In order to use a trick to create instance switch between activity, how can I retain my activity with GLSurfaceView state? I order to help you understanding my situation, please read the following code: The game using 3 activities as you can see in following configuration: <application android:label="@string/app_name" android:icon="@drawable/icon" android:allowBackup="true"> <activity android:name=".Menu" android:screenOrientation="portrait" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" android:launchMode="singleTop"> <intent-filter> <action android:name="android.intent.action.MAIN" /> <category android:name="android.intent.category.LAUNCHER" /> </intent-filter> </activity> <activity android:name=".ReTouch" android:screenOrientation="portrait" /> <activity android:name=".Preference" android:screenOrientation="portrait" android:theme="@android:style/Theme.NoTitleBar.Fullscreen" /> </application> My .ReTouch class is a class that extended from RokonActivity (I am using rokon engine for my game), this engine will create a GLSurefaceView to render my game in OpenGL ES You can get RokonAcitivity's source code here: http://code.google.com/p/rokon/source/browse/tags/release/1.1.1/src/com/stickycoding/Rokon/RokonActivity.java public class ReTouch extends RokonActivity { public static final int REPLAY_DELAY_INTERVAL = 1000; private ReTouchGameBoard reTouchGame; and .Menu, .Preference are two normal standard activity in an android application. I am using this method to start and switch between activities: playButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { soundPool.play(soundId, 1, 1, 1, 0, 1); startActivity(new Intent(Menu.this, ReTouch.class)); } }); settingButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { soundPool.play(soundId, 1, 1, 1, 0, 1); startActivity(new Intent(Menu.this, Preference.class)); } }); quitButton.setOnClickListener(new OnClickListener() { public void onClick(View v) { soundPool.play(soundId, 1, 1, 1, 0, 1); finish(); } });

  • Loading a SWF dynamically causes previously loaded SWFs to misbehave

    - by Aaron
    I have run into a very strange problem with Flash and Flex. It appears that under certain circumstances, movie clips from a SWF loaded at runtime (using Loader) cannot be instantiated if another SWF has been loaded in the mean time. Here is the complete code for a program that reproduces the error. It is compiled using mxmlc, via Ensemble Tofino: package { import flash.display.*; import flash.events.*; import flash.net.*; import flash.system.*; public class DynamicLoading extends Sprite { private var testAppDomain:ApplicationDomain; public function DynamicLoading() { var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://localhost/content/test.swf"); var loader:Loader = new Loader(); loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onTestLoadComplete); loader.load(request); } private function onTestLoadComplete(e:Event):void { var loaderInfo:LoaderInfo = LoaderInfo(e.target); testAppDomain = loaderInfo.applicationDomain; // To get the error, uncomment these lines... //var request:URLRequest = new URLRequest("http://localhost/content/tiny.swf"); //var loader:Loader = new Loader(); //loader.contentLoaderInfo.addEventListener(Event.COMPLETE, onTinyLoadComplete); //loader.load(request); // ...and comment this one: onTinyLoadComplete(); } private function onTinyLoadComplete(e:Event = null):void { var spriteClass:Class = Class(testAppDomain.getDefinition("TopSymbol")); var sprite:Sprite = Sprite(new spriteClass()); sprite.x = sprite.y = 200; addChild(sprite); } } } With the second loading operation commented out as shown above, the code works. However, if the second loading operation is uncommented and onTinyLoadComplete runs after the second SWF is loaded, the line containing new spriteClass() fails with the following exception: TypeError: Error #1034: Type Coercion failed: cannot convert flash.display::MovieClip@2dc8ba1 to SubSymbol. at flash.display::Sprite/constructChildren() at flash.display::Sprite() at flash.display::MovieClip() at TopSymbol() at DynamicLoading/onTinyLoadComplete()[C:\Users\...\TestFlash\DynamicLoading.as:38] test.swf and tiny.swf were created in Flash CS4. test.swf contains two symbols, both exported for ActionScript, one called TopSymbol and one called SubSymbol. SubSymbol contains a simple graphic (a scribble) and TopSymbol contains a single instance of SubSymbol. tiny.swf contains nothing; it is the result of publishing a new, empty ActionScript 3 project. If I modify test.swf so that SubSymbol is not exported for ActionScript, the error goes away, but in our real project we need the ability to dynamically load sprite classes that contain other, exported sprite classes as children. Any ideas as to what is causing this, or how to fix it?

  • retrieving information from web service calls

    - by Monte Chan
    Hi all, I am trying to retrieve information from a web service call. The following is what I have so far. In my text view, it is showing Map {item=anyType{key=TestKey; value=2;}; item=anyType{key=TestField; value=adsfasd; };} When I ran that in the debugger, I can see the information above in the variable, tempvar. But the question is, how do I retrieve the information (i.e. the actual values of "key" and "value" in each of the array positions)? Yes, I know there is a lot going on in onCreate and I will fix it later. Thanks in advance, Monte My codes are as follows, import java.util.Vector; import android.app.Activity; import android.os.Bundle; import android.widget.TextView; import org.ksoap2.SoapEnvelope; import org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapObject; import org.ksoap2.serialization.SoapSerializationEnvelope; import org.ksoap2.transport.AndroidHttpTransport; public class ViewHitUpActivity extends Activity { private static final String SOAP_ACTION = "test_function"; private static final String METHOD_NAME = "test_function"; private static final String NAMESPACE = "http://www.monteandjanicechan.com/"; private static final String URL = "http://www.monteandjanicechan.com/ws/test_ws.cfc?wsdl"; // private Object resultRequestSOAP = null; private TextView tv; /** Called when the activity is first created. */ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); SoapObject request = new SoapObject(NAMESPACE, METHOD_NAME); tv = (TextView)findViewById(R.id.people_view); //SoapObject request.addProperty("test_item", "1"); SoapSerializationEnvelope envelope = new SoapSerializationEnvelope(SoapEnvelope.VER11); envelope.setOutputSoapObject(request); AndroidHttpTransport androidHttpTransport = new AndroidHttpTransport(URL); try { androidHttpTransport.call(SOAP_ACTION, envelope); /* resultRequestSOAP = envelope.getResponse(); Vector tempResult = (Vector) resultRequestSOAP("test_functionReturn"); */ SoapObject resultsRequestSOAP = (SoapObject) envelope.bodyIn; Vector tempResult = (Vector) resultsRequestSOAP.getProperty("test_functionReturn"); int testsize = tempResult.size(); // SoapObject test = (SoapObject) tempResult.get(0); //String[] results = (String[]) resultRequestSOAP; Object tempvar = tempResult.elementAt(1); tv.setText(tempvar.toString()); } catch (Exception aE) { aE.printStackTrace (); tv.setText(aE.getClass().getName() + ": " + aE.getMessage()); } } }

    Hi everyone , can anybody tell me why the following code doesn't work properly? I want to play and stop an audio file. I can do the playback but whenever I click the stop button nothing happens. Here's the code : Thank you. .................. import java.io.*; import javax.sound.sampled.*; import javax.swing.*; import java.awt.event.*; public class SoundClipTest extends JFrame { final JButton button1 = new JButton("Play"); final JButton button2 = new JButton("Stop"); int stopPlayback = 0; // Constructor public SoundClipTest() { button1.setEnabled(true); button2.setEnabled(false); // button play button1.addActionListener( new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed(ActionEvent e){ button1.setEnabled(false); button2.setEnabled(true); play(); }// end actionPerformed }// end ActionListener );// end addActionListener() // button stop button2.addActionListener( new ActionListener(){ public void actionPerformed( ActionEvent e){ //Terminate playback before EOF stopPlayback = 1; }//end actionPerformed }//end ActionListener );//end addActionListener() this.setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE); this.setTitle("Test Sound Clip"); this.setSize(300, 200); JToolBar bar = new JToolBar(); bar.add(button1); bar.add(button2); bar.setOrientation(JToolBar.VERTICAL); add("North", bar); add("West", bar); setVisible(true); } void play() { try { final File inputAudio = new File("first.wav"); // First, we get the format of the input file final AudioFileFormat.Type fileType = AudioSystem.getAudioFileFormat(inputAudio).getType(); // Then, we get a clip for playing the audio. final Clip c = AudioSystem.getClip(); // We get a stream for playing the input file. AudioInputStream ais = AudioSystem.getAudioInputStream(inputAudio); // We use the clip to open (but not start) the input stream c.open(ais); // We get the format of the audio codec (not the file format we got above) final AudioFormat audioFormat = ais.getFormat(); c.start(); if (stopPlayback == 1 ) {c.stop();} } catch (UnsupportedAudioFileException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } catch (LineUnavailableException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } }// end play public static void main(String[] args) { //new SoundClipTest().play(); new SoundClipTest(); } }

  • Forcing a transaction to rollback on validation errors in Seam

    - by Chris Williams
    Quick version: We're looking for a way to force a transaction to rollback when specific situations occur during the execution of a method on a backing bean but we'd like the rollback to happen without having to show the user a generic 500 error page. Instead, we'd like the user to see the form she just submitted and a FacesMessage that indicates what the problem was. Long version: We've got a few backing beans that use components to perform a few related operations in the database (using JPA/Hibernate). During the process, an error can occur after some of the database operations have happened. This could be for a few different reasons but for this question, let's assume there's been a validation error that is detected after some DB writes have happened that weren't detectible before the writes occurred. When this happens, we'd like to make sure all of the db changes up to this point will be rolled back. Seam can deal with this because if you throw a RuntimeException out of the current FacesRequest, Seam will rollback the current transaction. The problem with this is that the user is shown a generic error page. In our case, we'd actually like the user to be shown the page she was on with a descriptive message about what went wrong, and have the opportunity to correct the bad input that caused the problem. The solution we've come up with is to throw an Exception from the component that discovers the validation problem with the annotation: @ApplicationException( rollback = true ) Then our backing bean can catch this exception, assume the component that threw it has published the appropriate FacesMessage, and simply return null to take the user back to the input page with the error displayed. The ApplicationException annotation tells Seam to rollback the transaction and we're not showing the user a generic error page. This worked well for the first place we used it that happened to only be doing inserts. The second place we tried to use it, we have to delete something during the process. In this second case, everything works if there's no validation error. If a validation error does happen, the rollback Exception is thrown and the transaction is marked for rollback. Even if no database modifications have happened to be rolled back, when the user fixes the bad data and re-submits the page, we're getting: java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Removing a detached instance The detached instance is lazily loaded from another object (there's a many to one relationship). That parent object is loaded when the backing bean is instantiated. Because the transaction was rolled back after the validation error, the object is now detached. Our next step was to change this page from conversation scope to page scope. When we did this, Seam can't even render the page after the validation error because our page has to hit the DB to render and the transaction has been marked for rollback. So my question is: how are other people dealing with handling errors cleanly and properly managing transactions at the same time? Better yet, I'd love to be able to use everything we have now if someone can spot something I'm doing wrong that would be relatively easy to fix. I've read the Seam Framework article on Unified error page and exception handling but this is geared more towards more generic errors your application might encounter.
