  Hi, I want to release an app, but what is in your experience the best way to make money on android? I've seen some solutions out there, but which one is the best? Solution A: App is free and has ads. + long term income + free for customer ~ money based on usage - ads makes apps ugly - needs a internet connection, which your app may not need Solution B: App is purchased + instant income ~ money only once ~ the customer have only 15 minutes to try out the app - you need a credit card on the google market - the customer have to give money :D Solution C: Trial version Solution D: free Lite version with ads & full to pay version without adds Any other ideas?

• Port an existing Quickly app from precise to quantal

  I've developed an app using Quickly on a 12.04 system. In preparation for the 12.10 release, I'd like to have launchpad build a version for Quantal so that it can be used and tested by people from my ppa. I'm not willing to upgrade my system yet (I depend on it for work), how can I do this from 12.04 and my current quickly project? I have a virtualbox with 12.10 installed for testing, but I don't want to copy over the quickly project if I don't have to. Ideally, an answer should work with the quickly submitubuntu command so that it is packaged for installation in the /opt/extras.ubuntu.com directory.

• Black screen on Ubuntu 12.04

  I've just upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 and I'm experiencing some problems. The first thing I noticed is that when I click the Workspace switcher all I get is a black screen (I can guess where the different workspaces are located and clicked on them, not a practical solution though). In addition when I lock the screen or suspend the laptop (a Vaio VPCEB4M1E) I get a shifted screen (I see the right most vertical stripe on the left size of the monitor and nothing about all the rest, to put it clearly I can see the gear that allows me to turn the pc off, etc, but not much more..) when I go to the additional driver menu I see the "ATI/AMD proprietary FGLRX graphics driver" are installed and the post-release update version is available. I don't know if the problem is driver related, so before doing anything I'd like to get some suggestions from you guys. Thanks you!

  Voilà qui est fait, six mois après la sortie de Joomla! 2.5 : la version 3. Tout d'abord, un mot sur le release cycle : la version 2.5 est une LTS (long term support), pas la 3.0. Cette dernière permet de casser pas mal de choses et ne sera donc pas supportée à long terme : il faudra attendre la 3.5 pour cela (au rythme d'une version mineure tous les six mois). La 2.5 sera supportée jusqu'à la sortie de la 3.5, au moins : il est toujours sûr de l'utiliser, elle sera toujours supportée? mais ne verra pas d'évolution technique. Avec la sortie de cette version 3.0, par contre, c'est le support de la vieillissante 1.5 qui est arrêté.   The interest for having a GlassFish community event at JavaOne is still very strong both inside Oracle and in the community, so this year again we'll be hosting a get together on the Sunday prior to the main event. If you're in town and attending JavaOne, mark your calendars : Sunday 2nd, October 2011 - 12:30pm-4:30pm in the Moscone This will be an opportunity to discuss the community status (adoption of Java EE 6, GlassFish 3.1.x) and hear about future plans, mainly around Java EE 7 and the related GlassFish release(s). We'd also like to have several participants share their deployment stories as well as some time for an free-form unconference format and some team building activity. Of course, beyond all the content shared in slides, this should really also be a good excuse to meet folks from the community and from the core GlassFish team at Oracle. • How to replace avconv with (the real) ffmpeg and have it work right?

  Anyone know how to install the real, current ffmpeg (not the older version by avconv that comes w/ Ubuntu) without having the problems mentioned here? Reasons: Everything works (or so many have written), Use the new syntax, and After some research -- and without getting into the controversy -- I simply believe the packagers made a mistake going with avconv. This is a fix. Apparently this isn't as easy as it should be due to versioning conflicts, and that avconv and ffmpeg can't coexist on the same machine (noted in the above post). Though at least one guide mentions installing ffmpeg locally (~) to achieve coexistence. My release is Precise 12.04.3 LTS, but it appears this would apply to newer ones also.

• Facing quality issues

  A workforce management software has complex GUI (for example values in a page depends on the status (closed or open) of other pages). Only latest and near past development has test coverage. During our last release, we received lots of bugs from customer in-spite of 2 weeks of testing Sprint . We don't have dedicated test team. The developers does the unit test & User acceptance test. Every day triggers automated regression test. I am afraid the developers are not testing the entire workflow because its time consuming also not able to automate it because of its complexity. Any suggestions ?. The legacy code (15 yrs development) has less code coverage. How can I improve quality ? Note: Now not possible to hire testers to have independent test team!!

• Mouse and keyboard focus problem

  I have two Chrome windows side by side. I click a link in window#1, ok. Now I want to switch to window#2 and click anywhere in the window. Noting happens. Sometimes the cursor switch to make-bigger-window style. If I click in the top part of current window. And then in the top part of next window I can switch focus so the other window works. Another problem is that the keyboard focus can get stuck in one window. I can click on things in one window but when using the keyboard it will change the first window. Only by closing the window that has the focus, it will release keyboard. What is this madness? Another problem not related is that sometimes I get logged out. Just like that.

  I'm using Ubuntu 12.04 with Gnome Classic (no effects) and because of the fact that some system options have disappeared with the new system release I've been struggling with this for a while and despite this seems very easy I can't do this :/ - does anyone know how to choose a GDM Theme? I'm quite sure that GDM is now in use on my Ubuntu - I set it up with: sudo dpkg-reconfigure gdm Despite I moved the theme folder to /usr/share/gdm/themes nothing has changed by now, I've logged out and in a couple of times but everytime I get the standard log in window and wallpaper (different from mine). So I'll appreciate any kind of help from anybody, now I have absolutely no idea how to figure it out. Cheers.

• Is it legal to develop a game usung some version of D&D, something similar to Baldurs Gate?

  For a while now I've been thinking about trying my hand at creating a game similar in spirit and execution to Baldurs Gate, Icewind Dale and offshoots. I'd rather not face the full bulk of work in implementing my own RPG system - I'd like to use D&D rules. Now, reading about the subject it seems there is something called "The License" which allows a company to brand a game as D&D. This license seems to be exclusive, and let's just say I don't have the money to buy it :p. Is it still legal for me to implement and release such a game? Commercially or open-source? I'm not sure exactly which edition would fit the best, but since Baldurs Gate is based of 2nd edition, could I go ahead an implement that? in short: what are the issues concerning licensing and publishing when it comes to D&D? Also: Didn't see any similar question...
