• 14.04_x64 / Nvidia GT 240 , HUGE font notificaton at greeter and in naulitus after log-in

  I've been using 12.04 for a long time - excellent version indeed, I decided to try 14.04 today. Installing without any problems. My VGA is Nvidia GT240 (legacy one), Nouveau display driver is fine, font display is normal. Then, I decided to install Nvidia legacy binary driver 304.117 updates (proprietary) instead of default Nouveau display driver. Problems come after rebooting At Greeter a notification "Wired connection 1 -Connected" pop up but with a HUGE font. After log-in HUGE FONT symptom still remains at some parts - for example, Calendar, Desktop shortcut and Files explorer. within few seconds, 10 to 15 may be, there is a screen blink but HUGE font still remains. I have to log out then log in again to have normal font in all parts of system. Changing driver, even an update one form ppa:xorg-edgersnot doesn't solve the problem. Any advices or solutions will be appreciated.

  When I am writing up stored procedures in SSMS sometimes I need to know what column types are used in a table. For instance I will know the table name but I might not remember exactly the length of a varchar column or if a column stored the data as an integer or varchar. And I may not want to scroll through all the tables in Object Explorer to find the one I want. A lot of times it is easier if I can just write a quick query to pull up the information I need. The syntax to do something like this is pretty easy. SELECT COLUMN_NAME, DATA_TYPE, CHARACTER_MAXIMUM_LENGTH FROM yourdbname.information_schema.columns WHERE TABLE_NAME = ‘yourtablename’ After running that you will get a listing in the Results pane just like any other query with the column name, data type and length (if any).   I have a website which is not scoring good in Google's search results. I use Majestic SEO and Open Site Explorer in order to have a view about my link profile. I now see different backlink domains, some of them already removed, that contains sexual content or other non relative content linking to my domain. How much influence does these strange linked domains have on my search result? Even if some of them are already removed for a couple of months. I have already disavow open sexual domains using the tool that Google provides.

  After recently announcing it, one of my readers with a background in website management sent me an email saying that I should reconsider moving my domain from [keyword]news.org to [same keyword]lab.com. It is a content-heavy news site around products that I hope to eventually build into a more comprehensive authority for the [keyword] industry I'm covering w/ B2B services, merchandise, etc. The current domain is a bit generic & I think the new one will be more marketable. Relevant stats: 320k-350k pv's/month Google brings in 39% and Yahoo/Bing 4% of traffic 10-11% of monthly search strings contains " news" SEOMoz Open Site Explorer stats: Page authority: 65/100 Domain authority: 58/100 Linking root domains: 226 Total links: 35,700 I am familiar with what I need to do as far as 301 redirects, etc. I was assuming that I'd be ok after following Google's recommended procedures but now I am not so sure.

  I am in the process of working on a video on demand system part of it involves the management of a hierarchical tree structure (think windows explorer) which allows users to upload videos, move folders around, create new folders etc. User action will be allowed depending on which permissions they have. In addition to managing the structure (creating folders and uploading videos), subscribers will be viewing content (read access). The number of reads will be significantly more than the writes. My question (and it is big one) is should I store the data in a database (for the writes) and also have some sort of cache which will be used for the reads? or do I use two databases? or is there a better solution? Also I will have to resolve concurrency issues which I think optimistic locking on the database will resolve. I have a fair bit about CQRS over the last few months but not sure if this is the way to go. Any ideas?

  Currently, my webpage images use the alt attribute only. Users complain that their IE8 cannot show the "tooltip" bubble when they mouse over the image. On Microsoft's What's New in Internet Explorer 8 page, it says The alt attribute is no longer displayed as the image tooltip when the browser is running in IE8 Standards mode. Instead, the target of the longDesc attribute is used as the tooltip if present; otherwise, the title is displayed. The alt attribute is still used as the Microsoft Active Accessibility name, and the title attribute is used as the fallback name only if alt is not present. I also found that many say title should be used. Which should I use to meet the industrial standard: alt, longdesc or title?

  The site is: http://www.clubloc.com/ And it works in firefox but not in google chrome. Internet explorer also has problems but thats pretty much a given when using HTML5 Canvas. Anyways I'm trying to figure out why it throws the error: Uncaught Error: INDEX_SIZE_ERR: DOM Exception 1 When the arrays clearly have all those elements, I even logged their size and it says 100. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  Trying to connect to sql server 2005 with delphi 2010 gives me the following error after configuring the data explorer: 'Borland.data.TDBXError: DBX Error: Driver could not be properly initialized. Client library may be missing, not installed properly, or wrong version' I know there is a work around by installing the sql server 2008 management studio. But this is not a good solution if all pc's need to have this prerequirement. Anybody know a better solution/fix. Delphi 6 does not have this problem.

  I find it tedious when everytime I need to commit a file.The process goto windows explorer window, right click directory, then click 'Commit'... and then the tortoisesvn commit window.   I like how Windows Skydrive lets you drag files into Internet Explorer where an ActiveX component uploads those files to your Skydrive account in a queue. This avoids the cumbersome traditional HTML approach where you present multiple "Browse" buttons and the user has to select individual files one by one, click Upload and then select more files after the first batch completes. What I'm not sure is how the same effect could be achieved in a web app without ActiveX. Any suggestions?
