  • Can't add ADO.NET Entity Model because of error

    I am using VS 2010 Express.This error appear "Error HRESULT E_FAIL has been returned from a call to a COM compenent" When i try to Add ADO.NET Entity Data Model. VS 2008 PRO is installed on my pc too but i don't think that it is caused by VS 2008 .I tried to reinstall VS 2010 Express but still same. How can i fix it ?

    If my project name is ABC and the DLL currently outputs as ABC.DLL, how can I make my DLL be outputted as say CBA.DLL and so that when the .LIB is compiled linked against, it is not looking for ABC.DLL, but CBA.DLL. I tried changing the name under Linker General Output File but when I linked to the .lib in my other application, it was still looking for ABC.DLL and CBA.DLL.

    I'm just learning WPF. I'm using VS 2008. I've added an Image control to my XAML, and I added a GIF file to the project. If I use the XAML Designer's property panel to set the image's Source property, the drop-down list for the Source property contains the following: C:\Sample Project;component/pinHorizontal.gif There are several problems with this: My project, named "Sample Project," is not in the root of my drive. Why is ";component" in there? If I select this value as given, I get the error "Property value is not valid" (yeah, no kidding). If I go into the XAML source and set the Source property manually, like so: The XAML Designer gives me this error: "The file pinHorizontal.gif is not part of the project or its 'Build Action' property is not set to 'Resource'." Why is this task so difficult? How do I assign an image source?

Then post it to the server where I can retriev the stream and do the string manipulations in the serer action methods.     I am trying to do something in VisualWebDev 2008 Express that I thought would be simple, but it is not working. I want to display data from an XML file so I added the XMLDataSource to my page, pointed it to the XML file, and then added the GridView and connected it to the datasource.   • Visual C# 2010 express... displaying console output??

    Hi, I am currently creating a customer application for a local company. I have a datagridview linked to the customers table, and I am trying to link it up so that updates, inserts and deletions are handled correctly. I am very new to c# so I am starting with the basics (like about 2 days ago I knew nothing - I know vb.net, Java and several other languages though..). Anywho from what I understand anything output through Debug.WriteLine should only appear when in debug mode (common sense really) but anything output through Concole.WriteLine should appear whether or not in debug mode. However I have checked the immediate and output windows and nothing is being output when in normal mode. Does anyone have any idea why this is?? Thanks in advance, Richard

  • ASP.net Error in Design Mode

    I just switched to VS 2010, and upgraded a previous project. I'm getting the following error on a page in design mode for 2 controls: Error Creating Control - ObjectName Object reference not set to an instance of an object. One of them is a simple label, and the other is a ajax update panel. Other pages look fine. When I build and test the app, the page renders fine in the browser and functions fine - the label functions as expected and the content in the update panel works as expected. Any ideas why I'm getting this error? I tried some of the google results to no avail. It'd be great to get this out of the way. Thanks!

'abc.exe': Loaded 'D:\Windows\SysWOW64\nvoglv32.dll', Cannot find or open the PDB file earlier I was getting a whole bunch of errors, but the microsoft symbols source set the issue for all of them except this one file : nvoglv32.dll ; does anybody know how I can resolve this issue or get my hands on the file "nvoglv32.pdb" ?     Hi. I have a process that contains C# code, C++\CLI code and native c++ code. Now, I'm trying to remote debug my process, and I can go to the statements of my C# code and my C++\CLI code, but I can't reach my native code. When I try to hit a breakpoint in my native c++ source file, I get the "No symbole have been loaded" error. I tried to manualy load the symboles (tools-options-debugging), but no luck. Any Idea?

    I can build a simple dll consisting of a source file, a header file and a definition but now I am progressing beyond a simple toy dll and working towards something more real (ie: more complex). The DLL I am trying to compile has 2 source files, 2 headers and the dreaded stdafx pair. To compile normally you would use /Yc for the pch and /Yu to use it. How do you specify that with in the constraints of mojo-native's compiler options?

  • How do I get ELMAH to work with SQL Server (permission problems)

    I've got ELMAH working on my (Cassini) development server, and was quite happy with it, but now that I'm trying to move everything to my production server (IIS7), the honeymoon looks like being over. I've got past the "gotcha" with IIS7, which frankly could have been better highlighted in the documentation, and if I just use the in-memory log then it works. However, I'm trying to get it to use the SQL Server log (as I do on my development system), and I'm getting an error along the lines of: The EXECUTE permission was denied on the object ELMAH_GetErrorsXml Well, fine. I know how to grant database permissions, but I'm really struggling to understand which user and which stored procs/tables I need to grant access to. The thing that's really confusing me is that I didn't have to do anything like this to get it to work on my development server. The only difference I can see is that on my development server it seems to connect as NT AUTHORITY\IUSR, whereas on my production server it seems to connect as NT AUTHORITY\NETWORK SERVICE. (It's just using a trusted connection so I've not explicitly configured it to do that - I presume it's to do with the web server). UPDATE: I've since established that because I'm using Cassini, it was actually logging in as me (an admin) and not IUSR, which explains why I didn't get any permission problems. On my development server, the IUSR account is a member of the public database role, and has access to the required database (again as "public"). There's no explicit granting of object-level permissions. [See update above - this is irrelevant]. On my production server, I've added NETWORK SERVICE in exactly the same way (public database role, explicit access to the database as "public"). Yet, I get this permission error. Why?!! [See update above - the only reason I don't get a permission error is because I'm running as an admin]. And, of course, if the fact that it works locally is just "luck", I will need to know which SPs/tables to grant access to. My guess would be all 3 SPs and not the table, but it would be good (again) to see some documentation that makes this explicit.

    Hello friends, I have created my own custom role provider class "SGI_RoleProvider" and configured properly. Everything is working fine. Suppose that I have added a public method say "SayHello()", then how can i call that. Because if i am using Roles then the method is not displayed. If i am forcefully using that Roles.SayHello() then compiler gives the error. Any suggestion how can i call this. Because creating a new instance of SGI_RoleProvider is meaningless.     I have different tabs on my UserControl. Each tab has some controls and button. I want to change AcceptButton on the basis of group of controls I am in. I can use TextChanged event or Enter event to make a button AcceptButton for Textboxes but I have some Comboboxes too.
