The code to add it works just fine - but how can I ensure that the View model retains the list? Is there any way to do this without saving/opening/saving etc? There is no storage persistence other than plain files.

• fade in all divs of a page. once the content of the divs is loaded

  I want all the divs on my page to fade in after the content is loaded. The code below loads in all imgs in the #div container. Which is great. but it does not load in images that are used as div background images loaded through the css file. So i think the most effective way is to create a piece of code that fades in all the divs on the page after the content ie: images and text has loaded. Is there A way to do this.   I'm writing a system where users can generate/run queries on demand based on the values of 4 dropdown lists. The lists are dynamically generated based on a number of factors, but at this point, I'm having problems validating the input using codeigniter's built in validation classes. I think my issue that I have the $rules and $fields stuff in the wrong place, but I've tried a few permutations and I just keep getting it wrong. I was hoping I could get some advice on the correct place to put things.

• How many instructions to access pointer in C?

  Hi All, I am trying to figure out how many clock cycles or total instructions it takes to access a pointer in C. I dont think I know how to figure out for example, p-x = d-a + f-b i would assume two loads per pointer, just guessing that there would be a load for the pointer, and a load for the value. So in this operations, the pointer resolution would be a much larger factor than the actual addition, as far as trying to speed this code up, right? This may depend on the compiler and architecture implemented, but am I on the right track? I have seen some code where each value used in say, 3 additions, came from a f2->sum = p1->p2->p3->x + p1->p2->p3->a + p1->p2->p3->m type of structure, and I am trying to define how bad this is

  I need GUI control for audio file presentation. The language is not very important but it should run on windows platform. I should be able to :- load the file play the sound put and move markers across the audio bar. it would be nice if it can load itself from RTP wireshark captures (and not wav files). An example may be seen in audacity (may be someone even had an experience extracting it from there). Writing nyquist scripts in audacity is not a good option because I have to operate on RTP captures and not on raw sound samples. Another example of such control is wireshark RTP analyzer. Any advise?

Which is a real shame because set table() needs dataSetLoader to already be set in order to call its load() function. So my question is, is there a way to enforce an order on the calls to the set functions when declaring a component?

• Why might different computers calculate different arithmetic results in VB.NET?

  I have some software written in VB.NET that performs a lot of calculations, mostly extracting jpegs to bitmaps and computing calculations on the pixels like convolutions and matrix multiplication. Different computers are giving me different results despite having identical inputs. What might be the reason? Edit: I can't provide the algorithm because it's proprietary but I can provide all the relevant operations: ULong \ ULong (Turuncating division) Bitmap.Load("filename.bmp') (Load a bitmap into memory) Bitmap.GetPixel(Integer, Integer) (Get a pixel's brightness) Double + Double Double * Double Math.Sqrt(Double) Math.PI Math.Cos(Double) ULong - ULong ULong * ULong ULong << ULong List.OrderBy(Of Double)(Func) Hmm... Is it possible that OrderBy is using a non-stable QuickSort and that QuickSort is using a random pivot? Edit: Just tested, nope. The sort is stable.

  I have a UIWebView in a viewcontroller, which has two methods as below. The question is if I pop out(tap back on navigation bar) this controller before the second thread is done, the app will crash after [super dealloc], because "Tried to obtain the web lock from a thread other than the main thread or the web thread. This may be a result of calling to UIKit from a secondary thread.".   For my app I'm using Tomcat 6.0.x and Mojarra 1.2_04 JSF implementation. It works fine, just I would like to switch now to MyFaces 1.2_10 impl of JSF. During the deployment of my app a get the following error: ERROR [org.apache.catalina.core.ContainerBase.[Catalina].[localhost].[/myApp]] StandardWrapper.Throwable java.lang.IllegalStateException: No Factories configured for this Application. This happens if the faces-initialization does not work at all - make sure that you properly include all configuration settings necessary for a basic faces application and that all the necessary libs are included. Also check the logging output of your web application and your container for any exceptions! If you did that and find nothing, the mistake might be due to the fact that you use some special web-containers which do not support registering context-listeners via TLD files and a context listener is not setup in your web.xml. But while i clone the object this exception forces me to load all the EntitySet< references with the Customer object, which might be too much and slow down the application speed. Any suggestions?

  I have multiple notes with class=.note and unique id each inside a div. On click of edit I grab the id, show hidden form #noteditor and hide all notes. I am using the load function to get the response (using codeigniter so url does work) and input result in the editorfrorm Textarea id = upnote... Firebug response looks ok and I have tried to inject into a div and this works fine, BUT getting this injto the text area is causing me some headaches. There is also the chance that i am going around this a convoluted way due to my limited knowledge... • Balancing dependency injection with public API design

  I've been contemplating how to balance testable design using dependency injection with providing simple fixed public API. My dilemma is: people would want to do something like var server = new Server(){ ... } and not have to worry about creating the many dependencies and graph of dependencies that a Server(,,,,,,) may have. While developing, I don't worry too much, as I use an IoC/DI framework to handle all that (I'm not using the lifecycle management aspects of any container, which would complicate things further). Now, the dependencies are unlikely to be re-implemented. Componentisation in this case is almost purely for testability (and decent design!) rather than creating seams for extension, etc. People will 99.999% of the time wish to use a default configuration. So. I could hardcode the dependencies. Don't want to do that, we lose our testing! I could provide a default constructor with hard-coded dependencies and one which takes dependencies. That's... messy, and likely to be confusing, but viable. I could make the dependency receiving constructor internal and make my unit tests a friend assembly (assuming C#), which tidies the public API but leaves a nasty hidden trap lurking for maintenance. Having two constructors which are implicitly connected rather than explicitly would be bad design in general in my book. At the moment that's about the least evil I can think of. Opinions? Wisdom?

• Rails: How to produce 404 or redirect upon undesired url exploitation?

  I want to hide the urls for editing users and their profiles behind safer and meaningful urls. For instance, I want /user/13/edit to be /settings/account and /user/13/profile/edit to be /settings/profile. I managed to achieve that, but for that I had to load the user information from the current_user bit from the session. Like so: # users_controller def edit @user = current_user end # profiles_controller def edit @user = current_user @profile = @user.profile end But now, since I can't compare @user.id from the params with the current_user in the session, how can I stop the old urls (/user/13/edit and /user/13/profile/edit) from being exploitable? They always load the forms for the current user, so there's no harm done, but I'd be more comfortable if they just produced a 404 error or something. Thanks in advance.

• How do you access URL text following the # sign through Java?

  Using Java (.jsp or whatever) is there a way where I can send a request for this page: http://www.mystore.com/store/shelf.jsp?category=mens#page=2 and have the Java code parse the URL and see the #page=2 and respond accordingly? Basically, I'm looking for the Java code that allows me to access the characters following the hash tag. The reason I'm doing this is that I want to load subsequent pages via AJAX (on my shelf) and then allow the user to copy and paste the URL and send it to a friend. Without the ability of Java being able to read the characters following the hash tag I'm uncertain as to how I would manipulate the URL with Javascript in a way that the server would be able to also read without causing the page to re-load. I'm having trouble even figuring out how to access/see the entire URL (http://www.mystore.com/store/shelf.jsp?category=mens#page=2) from within my Java code...

• Developing wheel reinventing tendencies into a skill as opposed to reluctantly learning wheel-finding skills? [duplicate]

  This question already has an answer here: Is reinventing the wheel really all that bad? 20 answers I am more of a high-level wheel reinventor. I definitely prefer to make use of existing API features built into a language and popular third-party frameworks that I know can solve the problem, however when I have a particular problem that I feel capable of solving within a reasonable time I am very reluctant to find someone else's solution. Here are a few reasons why I reinvent: It takes time to learn a new API API restrictions might exist that I don't know about Avoiding re-work of unfamiliar code I am conflicted between doing what I know and shifting to a new technique I don't feel comfortable with. On one hand I feel like following my instincts and getting really good at solving problems, especially ones that I would never challenge myself with if all I did was try to find answers. And on the other hand I feel like I might be missing out on important skills like saving time by finding the right framework and expanding my knowledge by learning how to use a new framework. I guess my question comes down to this: My current attitude is to stick to the built-in API and APIs I know well* and to not spend my time searching github for a solution to a problem I know I can solve myself within a reasonable amount of time. Is that a reasonable balance for a successful programmer? *Obviously I will still look around for new frameworks that save time and solve/simplify difficult problems.

  Hi, I have following View COntroller structure: ScrollViewController LandscapeViewController PortraitViewController Each with its own .nib The app starts in landscape mode where many landscape views are added to a scrollview. Each landscape view has its specific portrait view, so I have to assign like ID's to each of this views. Can you tell me, how I can load the specific portrait view for each landscape view when rotating the device? Do I have to make two scroll views? One for landscape, one for portrait? Or is it possible to just scroll through the landscape scrollview an load just one portrait view with the right content based on an ID? How could I implement that?   Hi, I am probably totally missing the point here but.... How can I pass a 'var' into another method? (I am using linq to load XML into an Enumerable list of objects). I have differernt object types (with different fields), but the final step of my process is the same regardless of which object is being used. XNamespace xmlns = ScehmaName; var result = from e in XElement.Load(XMLDocumentLocation).Elements(xmlns + ElementName) select new Object1 { Field1 = (string)e.Element(xmlns + "field1"), Field2 = (string)e.Element(xmlns + "field2") }; var result2 = Enumerable.Distinct(result); This code will vary for the different type of XML files that will be processed. But I then want to iterate though the code to check for various issues: foreach (var w in result2) { if (w.CheckIT()) { //do something } } What I would love is the final step to be in a method in the base class, and I can pass the 'var' varible into it from each child class.

• SSIS XML Decryption Message

  My SSIS package says it is successful, but when it runs it ends not doing anything (that I can see). The only thing wrong is this message (that it does not qualify as an error). Description: Failed to decrypt an encrypted XML node because the password was not specified or not correct. Package load will attempt to continue without the encrypted information I do have a password on my packages, but I don't see anywhere to put the password in when I load the Package into SSIS. Am I missing a step?
