  • Is there a simple PHP development server?

    - by pinchyfingers
When writing web apps in Python, it brain dead easy to run a development server. Django and Google App Engine both ship with simple servers. The main feature I'm looking for is no configuration. I want something like the GAE dev server where you just pass the directory of the app as a parameter when the server is started. Is there a reason that this is more difficult with PHP?

  • PHP see POST/GET values made to script dynamically

    - by minimalpop
Hi, I've been testing a PHP script that I'm posting values to every few seconds (latitude and longitude to be specific) and am wondering if there's an easier way to see what values are being sent to the script. Right now I'm writing the data to a txt file on my server, and refreshing the page every so often to see what values have been posted recently. Is there a way to just see what's going on behind the scenes (in terminal, perhaps)? Thanks.

  • Updating an integer defined column in a MySQL DB with PHP

    - by Zloy Smiertniy
    I have a table defined like this: create table users ( id int(10), age int(3), name varchar (50) ) I want to use a query to update just age, which is an integer, that comes from an html form. When it arrives to the method that updates it, it comes as a string, so I change it to integer with PHP and try to update the table, but it doesn't work $age = intval($age); $q2 = "UPDATE users SET age='$age' where username like '$username';"; mysql_query($q2,$con);

  • Undefined function in php

    - by Bidyut
I wrote three methods in a class and one is calling another, but when I call the function outside through the object, it is showing an undefined function error for the second function. Here's my code: function resize_image(){ } function image_resize(){ $a = resize_image(); } When I run this, it shows resize_image() as undefined. Here's the error: Fatal error: Call to undefined function resize_image() in /home/vacayge/public_html/Major/Alpha1/classes/cUserImages.php on line 2090

  • unique selling points: php, flash, rails

    - by pwebdev
on reflecting how to talk with prospect customers on technologies for web applications, what are important requirements for chosing a specific technology? I am biased towards ruby on rails, but the code base and community of PHP is larger, while the user experience of flash sites is often an advantage to the segment of higher paying customers. how would you argue for or against the usage of a technology in general? for ruby on rails in particular?

  • PHP Netbeans 6.8 subversion integration (Windows 7)

    - by gimpe
I am using Netbeans 6.8 for PHP (under Windows 7) and the subversion integration doesn't work. I am able to checkout a module but I don't see the subversion features in the menus or the outine in the editor left margin that shows the changes in the files. I am using it under Ubuntu with no problems. Did any of you experimented the same problem? If yes, were you able to make it work? Thanks!

  • Set php file permissions so only my server's curl can run

    - by robr
I have a PHP script that I don't want anyone to be able to run through their browser. It sends emails and is called via curl by my server's cron, yet needs to be in the public www directory. What permissions or owner do I need to set the file to to allow only my server's curl to execute (or do I mean read) the file? I'm on centos. Thanks!
