• an issue with VMWare Workstation 10 and three monitors

  I'm having a bit of a problem with using three monitors with VMWare Workstation 10. When only two monitors are enabled in the system I have an option to "Cycle Multiple Monitors", available from the View menu (in full screen). When I enable the third monitor that option is no longer in the menu and I can only use one monitor at a time. I've found this article and a "Choose a Monitor Layout" button is mentioned there but I'm unable to see it anywhere. I'm using Windows 8.1 as the host and Ubuntu 14.04 as the guest. The graphics card is AMD Radeon R9 290x with latest beta drivers

• Solaris NFS: user permissions

  I am very new to NFS. I would like to make sure I am clear. If the NFS server shares a directory rw,, and all the files in the directory are permissions 700 and user/group for those files is root/root,,, On the client you would have to log in as root to see it. Is this correct? I am aware that a non root user on the client could make a direct connection to override this. (as in don't use the mount, just use an NFS client hack.) It really seems like anyone who has access to the client machine should have access to the files and that the client machine should be ignoring permissions. Only the server should handle permissions. Am I correct in my understanding? Is it normal to have this type of layout? Is there a way to ignore the permissions on the client side?

  I have an input text in a form that has a problem in MSIE7. When the text field is filled and I continue typing, the background starts scrolling left along with the text. This is the form when the text field is filled http://img155.imageshack.us/i/screen2rl.jpg/ The background image, a white rectangle with rounded corners, scrolls left with the text, leaving the black background. This is the CSS for this text field: border: none; background: url('/wp-content/themes/pokerbuddy/images/field.png') top left no-repeat; width: 100px; height: 20px; padding: 0px; font-size: 80%; color: #399; display:inline; Is there any way to solve this in MSIE7?

• Image-free, custom-styled search bar

  I'm working with the designer and he sent me the following design for the search bar on our webpage: I'm very much against using images in webpage design unless completely necessary, so I'm hoping that I can recreate the whole search bar widget in CSS. I know how to do border-radius, gradients, box-shadows, etc, so that's not a problem. Question: Assuming CSS3 browser compatibility, how can I go about recreating the actual search button (the magnifying glass portion) with the double curved edge, and the slight drop shadow on the bottom left? Thoughts: My initial feeling was that the search button would be circular and free-standing, then overlap the search input div with a negative left-margin, but then I was unsure how I would get that drop shadow. Edit: I'm not completely opposed to using an image for the magnifying glass, but I've seen a similar icon created in CSS before. Would an image vs. pure CSS end up loading at the same speed, or should I do all I can do in pure CSS?

I want to find something like the shopping cart at the apple store, it's a div thats not positioned absolute nor fixed, for instance, let's say it's at the center of the screen, and only when you scroll down it follows the scroll only to not disappear, when it reaches the border of the browser header... • Resize windows command line prompt?

  I'm working on a Windows xp machine. I wrote a program in assembly that outputs some text, and am trying to create a screenshot of the command line output (start-run-"cmd"). The problem is that the text initially printed by the program gets pushed up by later text and I cannot scroll to it. I tried playing around with the width and height under properties = layout but it seems to resize the window itself (the borders) without resizing the textarea inside the window (text does not have more "room", but the window is bigger). Does anybody know a workaround/solution for this? Thank you!

Basically I need to open up an thickbox iframe with the modified markup.

• How do I show a custom UIImagePicker within a view?

  I'm making an app that involves a 'mirror.' Basically, the view should show the UIImagePickerControllerCameraDeviceFront with a custom border around it that I would create. I have looked around the web for days and I can only find a way of putting a subview on the camera view, I want it to be the opposite way. I have seen this happen before, but I have no idea as how to do it as it appears that UIImagePickerController must be a superview and can't be a subview. Please help me anyway you can and thank you in advanced.

I'm developing a website and for the first time i found problems using cufon... if you think u know about cofon check this.. http://universite.jvsoftware.com If you open with firefox and IE, you will notice in the navigation bar, when you over the titles will appear a border (actually is an image) but if you open it with chrome or safari, that image doesnt appear.... the cufon script is easy to find in the source code, also the css. • Lightbox getting open multiple time on enter.

  Hi All, I am going through a weird problem while using lightbox . Where ever the new light box is used user is able to open the same light box on same page number of time. For e.g Using tab button go to `Lightbox link`. Press enter --> Light box will open. Press enter --> second light box open below the previous one. and so on....... The problem is occurred when I use tab and entered on the link my focus is not getting changed from the link and so user is able to open multiple lightbox on clicking enter. • How can I get rid of horizontal padding or indent in html5 search inputs in webkit?

  In webkit only, the text in a search input is indented from the left side. Here's a demo. Even after stripping all padding, text-indent, and setting -webkit-appearance to textfield or none, the text is still indented. It looks to be around 10px or so, but the inspector doesn't show any CSS rules (even browser defaults) that seem to apply this style.   I have a DB with a table that is named "victim". The form that dumps the info into the table has room for two victims and therefore there is vic1_fname, vic1_lname, vic2_fname, vic2_lname, etc.. • WPF DropShadowEffect in ListBox

  Hi, Basically, I have a listbox which contains a set of listboxitem (stacked horizontally). On selected listboxitem, there will be dropshadoweffect applied to the border of the listboxitem. The problem i am having at the moment is the dropshadopeffect on the left hand side is covering (on top of) the left listboxitem. This is fine for me, however the dropshadoweffect on the right hand side of the listboxitem is covered by (below) the right listboxitem. Is there a way to make them consistent? so that both sides' dropshadoweffect will appear on top of the left and right listboxitems. Please let me know if you need more information. Any help would be appreciated.

I can not define the size of buttons as the caption changes the button size changes accordingly. I tried with width:auto but no success. Also, with overflow:visible the buttons in IE becomes bit smaller. Please help.

• CSS navigation submenu and seperator

  I have created a navigation bar that is centered with CSS which works. Each li item is separated with a border which is a background image. When hovering on the nav items, the separator disappears because the hover changes the background (I guess) but I wonder how I can fix this, padding or margin can't work because it will just shift the li element. Second problem is that the sub menu items aren't displaying correctly and I have no idea why... • Android: how to convert whole ImageView to Bitmap?

  I have my application that is displaying images with different ratio, resized inside (centerInside) imageView. What I need is to create bitmap from the ImageView including the background (black in this case). So for example I have device screen 320x480, full screen imageView with image resized to 280x480. How could I get 320x480 bitmap from it? On top of this imageview I have some logos or buttons that I don't want to include to bitmap, they're like on top layer. All I need is bitmap with image and black border from some sides.
