  • Why does calling setScaleX during pinch zoom gesture cause flicker?

    - by numan
    I am trying to create a zoomable container and I am targeting API 14+ In my onScale (i am using the ScaleGestureDetector to detect pinch-zoom) I am doing something like this: public boolean onScale (ScaleGestureDetector detector) { float scaleFactor = detector.getScaleFactor(); setScaleX(getScaleX() * scaleFactor); setScaleY(getScaleY() * scaleFactor); return true; }; It works but the zoom is not smooth. In fact it noticeably flickers. I also tried it with hardware layer thinking that the scaling would happen on the GPU once the texture was uploaded and thus would be super fast. But it made no difference - the zoom is not smooth and flickers weirdly sometimes. What am I doing wrong?

  • ListView items not clickable with HorizontalScrollView inside

    - by Felix
    I have quite a complicated ListView. Each item looks something like this: > LinearLayout (vertical) > LinearLayout (horizontal) > include (horizontal LinearLayout with two TextViews) > include (ditto) > include (ditto) > TextView > HorizontalScrollView (this guy is my problem) > LinearLayout (horizontal) In my activity, when an item is created (getView() is called) I add dynamic TextViews to the LinearLayout inside the HorizontalScrollView (besides filling the other, simpler stuff out). Amazingly, performance is pretty good. My problem is that when I added the HorizontalScrollView, my list items became unclickable. They don't get the orange background when clicked and they don't fire the OnItemClickedListener I have set up (to do a simple Log.d call). How can I make my list items clickable again?

  • Asynchronous Html.ImageGetter for setting multiple images in a TextView

    - by thedude19
    I'm writing an application that takes HTML pages and parses them to display on the screen. Specifically, this application pulls HTML from a message board and lists posts made by users. The problem is that a lot of the content in posts are pictures in <img> tags, so I need to write a Html.ImageGetter to handle the downloading of the images. My textView.setText() method will look like this: myTextView.setText(Html.fromHtml(myText, new ImageGetter() { @Override public Drawable getDrawable(String source) { Drawable d; // Need to async download image here return d; } }, null)); Doing this synchronously is trivial, but is there a suggested way to do this asynchronously so that it doesn't lock up my UI thread? I would also like to eventually build in caching of these images, but I imagine that would be pretty simple once the async downloading was there.

  • Layout problem: scrollview inside a table, inside a custom dialog

    - by Sean
    I have a layout problem which I can't fix. I've looked through many posts on here, and mine seems to be unique enough to post a question. I've created a custom Dialog which programmatically creates a 3 row table. The top and bottom rows have text, while the middle row contains a ScrollView, which contains a LinearLayout. That LinearLayout then contains some number of views (TextView in this example). Since I'm doing this programmatically, see the XML pseudocode below, and the actual code below that. What I would like to happen, is that when the height of the contained content in the LinearLayout gets too big, the ScrollView does its job, and the header and footer TextView's are always visible. The problem is that when the dialog gets big enough, the ScrollView appears to take over the whole dialog, and my footer TextView disappears off the screen. What can I do to make sure the footer TextView never disappears, but the ScrollView can still function? See the following image links: Footer visible on the left, gone on the right: http://img690.imageshack.us/i/screenshotss.png/ <TableLayout> <TableRow> <TextView> </TableRow> <TableRow> <ScrollView> <LinearLayout> <TextView/> <TextView/> <TextView/> ... </LinearLayout> </ScrollView> </TableRow> <TableRow> <TextView> </TableRow> </TableLayout> Here's the code: public class DialogScrollTest extends Dialog { public DialogScrollTest(Context ctx){ super(ctx); setTitle(""); requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); TableLayout table = new TableLayout(ctx); TableRow row; TextView text; row = new TableRow(ctx); { text = new TextView(ctx); text.setText("TestTop"); row.addView(text); } table.addView(row); row = new TableRow(ctx); { ScrollView scroll = new ScrollView(ctx); { LinearLayout linear = new LinearLayout(ctx); linear.setOrientation(LinearLayout.VERTICAL); for(int t=0; t<32; ++t){ text = new TextView(ctx); text.setText("TestScroll"); linear.addView(text); } scroll.addView(linear); } row.addView(scroll); } table.addView(row); row = new TableRow(ctx); { text = new TextView(ctx); text.setText("TestBottom"); row.addView(text); } table.addView(row); this.setContentView(table); } }

  • onPause/onResume activity issues

    - by Josh
    I have a small test application I am working on which has a timer that updates a textview to countdown from 100 to 0. That works fine, but now I am trying to pause the application if the user presses the back button on the phone and then restart the timer from where they left off when they reopen the app. Here is the code I am using: @Override public void onPause() { if(this._timer_time_remaining > 0) { this.timer.cancel(); } super.onPause(); Log.v("Pausing", String.format("Pausing with %d", this._timer_time_remaining)); } @Override public void onResume() { super.onResume(); Log.v("Resuming", String.format("Resuming with %d", this._timer_time_remaining)); if(this._timer_time_remaining > 0) { setContentView(R.layout.in_game); start_timer(this._timer_time_remaining); } } The start_timer() method creates a CountDownTimer which updates the textview in the onTick method and updates the this._timer_time_remaining int variable. CountDownTimer and _timer_time_remaining are both declared at the class level like this: private CountDownTimer timer; private int _timer_time_remaining; From the Log.v() prints I see that the _timer_time_remaining variable has the correct number of seconds stored when onPause is called, but it is set back to 0 when onResume starts. Why does the variable get reset? I thought that the application would continue to run in the background with the same values. Am I missing something? This is all declared in a class that extends Activity. Thanks in advance!

  • NullPointerException when Using requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE) on ListActivity Extending Activity

    - by ColorWP.com
    I have a ListActivity extending class and I am trying to hide the default TitleBar (I think it's called ActionBar) using the code below. It works on a regular activity, but not on the ListActivity. How do I accomplish the same in this scenario? public class MyClass extends ListActivity{ @Override public void onCreate(Bundle b) { requestWindowFeature(Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE); super.onCreate(b); // Tried Window.FEATURE_NO_TITLE here as well setContentView(R.layout.activity_myclass); getActionBar().setDisplayHomeAsUpEnabled(true); } }

  • Nexus One & Windows XP USB Driver

    - by Stefan
    I've been unable to get my Nexus One working as a development phone on Windows XP. I've got the driver (revision 3 for N1 support), I've got it installed according to the official installation guide, and the phone appears in the Device Manager just as the guide says it should. However, adb still can't find the phone. 'adb devices', for example, returns no active devices. Am I forgetting some basic step? One thing I've noticed is that the driver is labeled in Windows as version 2 released November, 2009 (I need version 3 from January 2010 for N1 support). However, I've never had version 2 installed. I've used the SDK to download version 3 several times - even deleted it and redownloaded it. I've uninstalled/reinstalled the version 3 driver multiple times. It still says version 2. Is this the problem, or this something completely unrelated? Note: The phone is working as a dev phone on Ubuntu, so I know the phone/cable/etc. are good. It's either my fault or the driver's.

  • Linux Mint something wrong with my .bashrc

    - by user2309862
    The path of my .basrc file is /home/vamsi/.bashrc It is weird that my file has nothing but the path I set. I think I am using a file at the wrong location or that I have lost my .bashrc file as none of the environment variables set here seem to work. #ANDROID_DEV ANDROID_HOME=/opt/android-sdk-linux export ANDROID_HOME PATH= $PATH:$ANDROID_SDK_HOME/tools export PATH PATH=$PATH:$ANDROID_HOME/platform-tools export PATH PATH=$PATH:$ANDROID_HOME/build-tools export PATH #MAVEN-PATH M2_HOME=/opt/apache-maven-3.1.0 export M2_HOME M2=$PATH:$M2_HOME/bin export M2 I was prompted to install maven2 in order to use mvn, but the android command cannot be found. Could you please help me find a solution to this issue. EDIT: Meanwhile,I tried this: export PATH=${PATH}:/opt/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools export PATH=${PATH}:/opt/android-sdk-linux/tools Now,the output of $PATH echoes: bash: /usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games:/usr/local/games:/opt/android-sdk-linux/platform-tools:/opt/android-sdk-linux/build-tools: No such file or directory

  • Language/tech specific books which improve vendor-neutral development skills

    - by dotnetdev
    If I ask what the following books have in common: "Accelerated C# 2010, C# in Depth, Pro C# 2008", the answer would be that they would help me to improve my understanding of C# and secondly, my general coding skills. What language-specific/tech-specific books (like those named above) would teach me a great deal about general programming techniques and good habits? I'm thinking Java books would be very good for me (I code in C# primarily), as both these languages are similar and so I am sure that specialist books on Java threading, performance tuning, etc, can be applied to C# (not all 100% content of a Java book). Thanks

  • How to get contacts in order of they upcoming birthdays?

    - by Pentium10
    I have code to read contacts details and to read birthday. But how do I get a list of contacts in order of they upcoming birthday? For a single contact identified by id I get details and birthday like this. Cursor c = null; try { Uri uri = ContentUris.withAppendedId( ContactsContract.Contacts.CONTENT_URI, id); c = ctx.getContentResolver().query(uri, null, null, null, null); if (c != null) { if (c.moveToFirst()) { DatabaseUtils.cursorRowToContentValues(c, data); } } c.close(); // read birthday c = ctx.getContentResolver() .query( Data.CONTENT_URI, new String[] { Event.DATA }, Data.CONTACT_ID + "=" + id + " AND " + Data.MIMETYPE + "= '" + Event.CONTENT_ITEM_TYPE + "' AND " + Event.TYPE + "=" + Event.TYPE_BIRTHDAY, null, Data.DISPLAY_NAME); if (c != null) { try { if (c.moveToFirst()) { this.setBirthday(c.getString(0)); } } finally { c.close(); } } return super.load(id); } catch (Exception e) { Log.v(TAG(), e.getMessage(), e); e.printStackTrace(); return false; } finally { if (c != null) c.close(); }

  • NetworkImageView with InfoWindowAdapter

    - by Exception-al
    I'm having trouble trying to use Volley's NetworkImageView with an InfoWindow of Google Maps API v2. My markers shows an InfoWindow with an image fetched from the internet. As you know, the only way to do this is to show the InfoWindow and refresh it when finished downloading the image. So I need a way to know when the NetworkImageView have finished downloading the image so I can refresh that view. I'm looking for something like onLoadComplete Any ideas?

  • XML Table layout? Two EQUAL-width rows filled with equally width buttons??

    - by Oliver Goossens
    Hi heres a part from my XML for LAND format: <TableLayout android:layout_height="wrap_content" android:layout_width="wrap_content" android:layout_gravity="center" android:stretchColumns="*"> <TableRow> <Button android:id="@+id/countbutton" android:text="@string/plus1"/> <Button android:id="@+id/resetbutton" android:text="@string/reset" /> </TableRow> </TableLayout> And now what I dont get - the WIDTH of one row and also of the button depends on the TEXT inside the button. If the both texts are equaly long lets say : TEXT its ok - the table half is in the middle of the screen. But if they have different size - lets say "A" and "THIS IS THE LONG BUTTON" the CENTER of the table isnt in the middle of the screen anymore and so the buttons are not equally width... Cant find any solution... Please advise... Thank you Oliver Goossens

  • Admob ads will not display when placed inside a tabview

    - by smith324
    I've been trying to get my ads to display in this type of layout. Tabs - LinearLayout - ListView - header. The header is set via addHeaderView and is displaying normally. If I were to move the ads anywhere else they display normally (so its not a setup issue). Using ads in the header of a listview works fine in my other projects. So this seems to be a very specific problem, the ads simply refuse to display when placed in the header of a listview inside a tabhost. My logs show no activity from admob at all. There is either a bug here or limitation of the sdk. Does anyone have any experience or insight into this issue? EDIT I found the solution. It actually had to do with padding that was in the root of my Tabview. For more checkout my answer here

  • Stop All Started Services on App Close / Exit

    - by Rad The Mad
    Is it possible to stop all started services when the user hits the Home Button? I use: startService(new Intent(ClassName.this, ClassName2.class)); stopService(new Intent(ClassName.this, ClassName2.class)); This means I will have to somehow add the 'stopService()' for 7+ of my app classes I've researched this topic and I think there's 'onTerminate' but still not sure how this should be implemented. Any help or hints would be appreciated! Thanks!

  • Dialog, LinearLayout, ScrollView size issues

    - by Sean
    I'm building a dialog class which inherits from Dialog, and all internal UI is programmatic. It's structured in the following way: Dialog +LinearLayout ++TextView ++ScrollView +++LinearLayout ++++ListView Unfortunately, when I show() the Dialog, it's too short. I'd like it to maximize and cover as much of the screen as possible, but only when there are enough items in the ListView to warrant it. I haven't found my answer in the docs, and I haven't been able to get it to work by setting WRAP_CONTENT as layout parameters, or setting heights manually. What is the proper way to approach this? Thanks, Sean

  • Best recruiting SaaS available for tech startups?

    - by ajhit406
    I run a small startup and am always on the lookout for quality engineers. I've seen someone solicit SO with a similar question but there was only one response so I'm going to solicit the community again. (http://stackoverflow.com/questions/112766/free-application-to-keep-track-of-a-recruiting-process didn't suffice for me) Over a long period of time, I've found that my system of recruiting is incredibly inefficient. An applicant who might have been attractive the first week might become overshadowed by other applicants further down the road. Sometimes, applicants who I ignored become relevant to a new position that opens up as an web app becomes more robust and takes a turn in a direction I didn't consider. These are all difficult to track. Knowing that recruiting intelligent people should be an ongoing process, what are the best web applications for managing the process? Are there any apps with features catered specifically towards tech startups? (Free or paid, doesn't matter).

  • How to set clickable and highlightable a ViewStub?

    - by Pentium10
    I have ViewStubs in my layout. If I set clickable and implement the OnClickListener this does work only on the root of the element. But the layout holds parent elements, and when I click on those the click is not recognized. How do I make a full row/view of ViewStub as whole to be clickable and highlightable like a ListView elements? Also what do I have to add to get that orange highlight?
